Check / Repair iPhoto Database - choose which options?

Hi!
I have read several tips regarding the "Command+Option Click" on the iPhoto Icon and check / repair the iPhoto database. Can someone explain all the 6 options, I can choose in the dialog box?
#1 - Repair the iPhoto Library Database
Where will I see the results of this scan/repair? I have tried it but I didn't see any results (scan finished - no errors -or- xx errors corrected).
#2 - Rebuild the database from automatic backup?
What's that for an automatic backup? Is this the timemachine backup? or is it an iPhoto internal database backup?
#3 and #4 - Rebuild small/all tumbnails
What's the difference? Why should this be necessary?
#5 recover orphaned photos
Are orphaned photos photos, which does exist in the library, but has no thumbnail/event/...?
Or are these photos which has a thumbnail and are in an event, but the full image is missing?
#6 Repair iPhoto Library file permissions
I think, it is easy and recommended to always check this, or?
I have also read the tip "delete iPhoto's cache files, located in ....... caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder".
Are these files the thumbnails from option #3 or #4? or is this something different?
I actually don't have a problem, but iPhoto is extremely slow and I want to know, if everything is ok with the library.
BTW - iPhoto '11 is great! But unfortunately - slow..... (13" 2.53GHz MacBookPro, 4GB RAM bought November 2009 - is this too old for iPhoto 11?)
best regards
michael

#1 - Repair the iPhoto Library Database
iPhoto attempts to repair the database. There is no report.
#2 - Rebuild the database from automatic backup?
It's an internal iPhoto database back up.
#3 and #4 - Rebuild small/all tumbnails
Because some folks lose their thumbnails, some folks have thumbnails that don't match the photo.
#5 recover orphaned photos
iPhoto will examine the library folder for any photos that are not currently being displayed in Albums or Events in the iPhoto source list. It may find some, it may not.
#6 Repair iPhoto Library file permissions
No need to do this unless you have a permissions issue.
I have also read the tip "delete iPhoto's cache files, located in ....... caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder".
No this is a different cache.

  • Views to check the catalog database name from target database.

    Hi,
Please help me to find view to check the catalog database name which is connected to my target database because I am new to the current environment where I am working now and the previous DBA have done the set up having 2 catalog database. I want view to check from target database, which can show the catalog database name to which it is connected to.
We can check the catalog database name from the following ways but I want views to check it from target database.
    1.TNSnames.ora
2.Any backup script connecting to catalog database.
3.From catalog database we can use rc_database view to check the databases registered with the catalog database.

Please help me to find view to check the catalog database name which is connected to my target databaseYou can check for any RMAN backup jobs that been scheduled on the server.
In the scheduled script check rman command.
You can then identify the database alias (of the catalog db) that is used in the rman backup script.
Once you have found the database alias, check for the database alias entry in tnsnames.ora file present in your target database server.
Once the entry is found, you can find the IP address and catalog db name from the tns entry.

  • Error message repairing library database keeps appearing in iPhoto in iMac

Why does the error message "repairing library database" keeps appearing?

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Which option I need to choose when I export AVCHD to a movie , without transcoding?

It says that Adobe Premiere CS5 can import and natively edit AVCHD content . without transcoding. How can I do this ?  It seems when I export AVCHD MTS from my camera to Premiere  , and want to join multiple MTS clips into ine timeline , which options may I choose to export , without transcoding?
I have try Blu-ray it transcodes to m4v , or using adobe dinamic link to encore , it ask me to transcode.

Premiere does import and edit native AVCHD.
Alll exports are encoded / transcoded.
AVCHD is a camera ( source) codec only.  Not a delivery format from an edit.

  • What does it mean in IPhoto repairing library database?

I opened iPhoto and it gave me an error regarding my library database.  What does this mean?  It is now "repairing library database".  What is this doing?

iPhoto is essentially a database index that keeps track of the photos in its library. When something goes wrong with that database index, it can be rebuild to fix errors.
You can read more about this in this article  iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library

When I sync my iphone I get a popup that says 'ABAssistantService quit unexpectedly'. I can 'ignore', 'Report' or 'Reopen'. The popup comes right back after a few seconds no matter which option I choose. The only way to make it stop is to reboot the computer. Any ideas?

iTunes places the .ipsw file here:
    OSX:
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
    XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
    7 &Vista:
    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
Find and delete any and all .ipsw files on your computer. There should only be one, but delete all that you find. Next, disable ALL firewalls & security software on your computer. Connect your phone, iTunes running & restore from backup. Follow this by syncing your content back to your phone.
This will force iTunes to re-download the .ipsw file, as I suspect yours is corrupt.
