Check Stored Procedures after Migration from MS SQL Server 2008 to Oracle11

I successfully migrated my application database (azteca) from MS SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 11g R2. After migration, I found there are few stored procedures are not valid. How do I check these invalid stored procedures and find what is wrong with them by using SQL Developer? Thanks for your help.
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
You posted quite a bit today, so perhaps you have already worked this out. If not...
1. View -> Reports -> Data Dictionary Reports -> All Objects -> Invalid Objects [for a specific schema name]
2. Next, for each invalid stored procedure listed in (1)...
a. Open in the code editor from the Connections navigator tree
b. Click on the Compile icon (two gears meshed together) in code editor tool bar.
c. Look in the Compiler log pane for errors.
d. Correct the errorsOf course, success in addressing any errors depends on your skill level dealing with Oracle PL/SQL.
Also, it may be helpful to read over section *3.2 Stored Procedures* in the supplementary migration guide:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35137_01/doc.32/e18462/trig_stored_proc.htm#CHDEIGBC

So when you tried starting SQL server service it gave the error right  ?  or when you click on SQL server services in SQL server configuration manager(SSCM) you get this error. Can you be more clear.  As far as I read your question it has something
to do with permission. Close SSCM window and this time  right click on SQL server configuration manager and select run as administrator and check if you can see SQL server services

  • Creating Universes from a SQL Server 2008 Database....Options?

Needing to create a Universe from a SQL Server 2008 DB, I am of course finding it difficult at best to get the ball rolling. Support tells me the only option I have is to use Designer, and to not use the "Automated Detection" features because they are not for production environment use <citing business requirement differences as one issue, as was noted during a support call when I was having problems with our VM server literally locking up while the "Automatic Detection" features were trying to run>.
So what that means is, from what I see, I am expected to manually add all of the SQL DB tables, and then have a Developer spend multiple hours adding appropriate Joins, Cardinalities, Keys, etc. And, whenever there are any DB changes, this has to be done all over again to the Universe to allow for syncronization with the DB.
This really seems like a heavy load to bear just to be able to use SAP. Is anyone else having these same challenges? Are there other options I am just not seeing? Seems to me Builder needs a SQL bridge honestly.
Appreciate any help I can get!!
    -Carl

While it may seem disappointing, as long as you have the data schema and knowledge of the joins and cardinalities, then you've got a lot of the easy stuff sorted out.
What you need to provide is a presentation layer that is more than just turning the tables and columns into classes and objects. There are often things that you need to create that don't exist in the database, such as objects for relative dates. These can be found in the thread that I created over on the BOB Board here:
    http://www.forumtopics.com/busobj/viewtopic.php?t=152613
Make sure that all objects have a description
Make sure that all dates and numbers have a format; there's nothing worse than creating a report and finding your year displayed as 2,011.00
Use predefined filters - include prompts
Other useful tips are available here:
    http://www.forumtopics.com/busobj/viewtopic.php?t=15227
Do you have a set of reporting requirements?

  • Migration from sybase sql server 7 to Oracle 8i

    Hi,
We have a very old Sybase database which contains some 2gb of data which is still being used by the users, we want to phase this out. We want to selectively export some tables and import them into our oracle 8i database. I have looked at documentation related to the migration workbench and it wont work for us because the version of sybase database is very old and I cannot find any client software either to help me to connect to the database.
I noticed in this forum, several messages suggesting the use of bcp to export data from the sql server and then sql*loader to import the data into oracle.
Can anybody please send me the information on bcp and how to export data using that and then how to import it in oracle. I am familiar with sql*loader but am not a expert so any help on how to define the control file etc for sql*loader would be helpful.
    Thanks

    Hi Hari,
You will be able to get the Beta release on this site in the next

Please provide feedback on the beta to [email protected]

  • DB Migration from MS SQL Server 2005 to Oracle 9i

    Hi Guys
I want to migrate the data from Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to Oracle 9i.
Could ou please suggest me the how to proceed.
I can simply extract the das in CSV format as their are Foreign key , Primary key concept is there. So what will be the best way to proceed ....
    regards
    Macky

    Macky,
In the coming months we will add support for SQL Server 2005 to the Oracle Migration Workbench. See our statement of direction on OTN for more details.
If you have extracted the data into a csv file format, you could construct a SQL Loader control file to load this data, assuming you have already created the table on the Oracle side.

  • Migration from MS SQL Server to Oracle 10g

    Hi,
In our application, we are planning to refresh data every one hour from MS SQL Server to Oracle 10g. Can anyone tell me what approach can be followed?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Faizal MK

    Hello,
migrations can be done with the Migration Workbench that is included in the SQL Developer: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration//workbench/index_sqldev_omwb.html
But your question sounds more like a replication of data than a migration. Please read as a starter the following note in My Oracle Support (former Metalink):
Note 283700.1: How to replicate Data between Oracle and a Foreign Datasource
That note describes ways for the replication in both directions. Please let me know whether this is helpful for you.

  • Data Committed instead of Rollback after Deadlock Error in SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP2)

We're having a strange issue which is occurring only with one Customer having SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP2).
Basically we have multiple threads uploading data and when an error occurs (like deadlock or any other error). The deadlock victim (process/transaction) is rolledback (from .NET). However the rollback command is not reaching SQL Server as it doesn't show
in the trace (through SQL Profiler).
To make things worse, not only the transaction is not being rolled back but the INSERTs executed before the error are being somehow committed, leaving the database in an inconsistent state.
This is only produced in one environment.
Any idea what the issue could be?

All statements are executed with in a Transaction. Under the same scenario this code works perfectly fine for 1000s of customers. Only one customer has this issue.
You need to capture profiler to check transaction scope.

  • Calling Managed CLR Stored Procedure from C++ SQL Server 2008 fails with Msg 2809

I am trying to call a stored procedure from C++ (VS 2010).
Here is what the stored procedure looks like:
    public class Validate
    [Microsoft.SqlServer.Server.SqlProcedure(Name = "ClientTest")]
public static void ClientTest(out String res )
    { res = "50";}
To create a stored procedure I deploy at first the assembly
    USE [test]
    GO
    CREATE ASSEMBLY ClientTestAssembly
    AUTHORIZATION testLogin
    FROM 'C:\Users\test\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\TestCreationAssemblyCSharp\TestCreationAssemblyCSharp\bin\x64\Debug\TestCreationAssemblyCSharp.dll'
    and call
    USE test
    GO
CREATE PROCEDURE ClientTest (@res NVARCHAR(40) OUTPUT)
    AS
    EXTERNAL NAME ClientTestAssembly.Validate.ClientTest
I can call my procedure direct in SQL Server Management Studio without any errors
    declare @res nvarchar(10)
    execute ClientTest @res OUTPUT
    print @res
But when I try to call this procedure from C++ using CALL syntax
    SQLBindParameter(sqlstatementhandle, 1, SQL_PARAM_OUTPUT, SQL_C_CHAR,
    SQL_VARCHAR , 40, 0, version, sizeof(version) ,
    &pcbValue);
    res = SQLExecDirect(sqlstatementhandle, (SQLCHAR*)("{CALL ClientTest(?) }"), SQL_NTS);
I get the Error 2809 with SQLSTATE 42000 and with statement
    The request for 'ClientTest'
(procedure) failed because 'ClientTest' is a procedure object.
However, if I wrap my CLR stored procedure into a T-SQL stored procedure, like
CREATE PROCEDURE myProc (@res NVARCHAR(40) OUTPUT)
    AS
    EXEC ClientTest @res OUTPUT
and call then myProc instead of ClientTest
    res = SQLExecDirect(sqlstatementhandle, (SQLCHAR*)("{CALL myProc(?) }"), SQL_NTS);
everithing works fine and I get 50 as result.
I have no ideas what is the reason for that behavior.
Thanks very much for any suggestion.
    Christina

I'm not an ODBC expert, but you might try following the sample here:
Process Return Codes and Output Parameters (ODBC)
To see if it also behaves differently for your CLR proc.

  • Trying to Migrate from MS SQL server 7.0

I have downloaded the Migration workbench and on install I am getting the error "Oracle Migration Workbench can only be installed into an new ORACLE_HOME or an existing 8.1.6 ORACLE_HOME."
I am new to Oracle and I am trying to make the switch from SQL 7.0 - is there a patch to upgrade from 8.1.5 to 8.1.6? Or is there another answer to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance for the help...

The 1.2.5.0.0 version of the workbench is built on 8.1.6. To use it with 8.1.5.0.0 Oracle on the same machine you will need to install it (and its 8.1.6.0.0 dependancies included in the distribution) in a new ORACLE_HOME as suggested by the error message.
