Is there any way to find out using JSP what version of outlook is installed on user's machine ?

No. Remember JSPs do ALL THEIR WORK on the server. All you will ever get is an HTTP Request. If it's not in the request, it's not information you have access to.
You could always ask them in a form what version of Outlook they have. Then you'd know.

We mananged to resolve this exact issue on a machine recently that was running MS Office Home and Business 2010. However a copy of MS Office 2000 was also installed (for legacy reasons re Access 2000) and it was this causing the issue. We used Programs & Features to 'Change' the Office 2000 installation to 'Add/Remove' features and de-selected Outlook in here. This prompted a reboot and the issue was subsequently fixed.
Please note this did not remove the Outlook 2010 that was installed (and in use), but be careful to have a backup of your Outlook as your mileage may vary.

With the File class, using the methods isFile(), isDirectory(), canRead(), canWrite(), length() and getName()
With File.listFiles() you can get a directory listing. If you want to limit the amount of files returned, you can pass your own FileFilter to it.

This issue occurs as the current navigation pane in Outlook is not working properly. We can try to use the command "Outlook.exe /resetnavpane" to clear and regenerate the navigation pane for the current Outlook profile:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /resetnavpane” in the blank box, then press Enter.
We can also create a new profile to test if this issue persists:

If there's no issue with the new profile, simply delete the old one.

Uninstalling several versions of OUTLOOK

Dear friends:
Icloud is telling me that I can not access their program because I have multiple versions of Outlook installed, to uninstall one of them. How do I do that? Windows 8.1 is my operating system. My PC is a Pavilion s5-1554PC. Does anyone know how to do this?

Checking a product's version using JSP?

Hi,
I'm rather new JSP, and I'm looking for a solution to a certain problem.
If we have a certain software on a user's computer, and we would like the user to be able to check for updates to that software using the website (e.g. a "check for updates" button, similar to windows update), is it possible to do this using JSP?
I know that when using ASP or ASP.Net, it's possible to use activeX to do this (though i'm not so sure), and I would like to be able to do something like that.

Consider using java web start. The swing application would be stored as a jar within a web application. A link in a html page inside the web application would launch the swing application on the user's desktop. It removes the nightmares of versioning ( the code is built and distributed at a single point ). Java web start supports caching the application on the user's desktop, checking for tha latest version of the jar hosted on the web and so on. 'Neat' is too little a word for it :)

You're probably on OS X Lion?
I had the same problem as you. I used Software Update to update Logic Express to the latest version, and then it ran without any problems.

If you just need it for one site you can use the portable version of Firefox 2 instead. You can install the portable version on a USB key, or if one is not available choose the custom install and install it somewhere on your hard drive. The portable version will not interfere with your current version of Firefox. You can get the portable version from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable - the link for Firefox 2.0.0.20 is near the bottom of that page.

Unfortunately, Safari cannot be updated past 5.1.10 on a Mac running v10.6.8.
So, the options are to upgrade to a newer OS X or use Firefox or Chrome.
Be aware, Apple no longer support Snow Leopard v10.6 > www.ibtimes.com/apple-kills-snow-leopard-os-x-106-no-longer-receives-security-u pdates-1558393
See if your Mac can run v10.9 Mavericks > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
If so, you can download and install Mavericks for free from the App Store.
