Checking NVRAM ? whats this

I have a P965 Planinum board and this system hase been running for several months now. This morning it came up with Checking NVRAm at boot up and stoped there. I rebooted and it went away. I did get this this a couple days ago also, again I had to reboot. Any ideas what this is and what I need to do to get rid of it? Thanks

there is a BIOS setting "Clear NVRAM" (probably this option has been removed or hidden) to tell the BIOS to clear NVRAM every boot up.
This message Checking NVRAM appears every time boot on. The reason you see it because something stuck there. Reboot will do just fine.
Well, things maybe doesn't stuck at "checking NVRAM" but what happen AFTER that. Could it be your HDDs unable to be detected?

Unchecked items will not play unless specifically clicked on.  They will not be included on shuffle and will not be synced to ipods.

My ipad 3 has suddenly started draining battery in only a few hours. Even if not in use. Might this be because a programme is running in he background? I recently downloaded Dropbox. Might my photos still be downloading after a few days? How do I check? What do I do about it? Or might my battery be faulty? Thanks, Tim.

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon.  The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Admittedly the labeling is hard to read but, if you use a magnifier and squint your eyes, you'll see "Output 5.1V, 2.1A."  The symbol between volts and amps is the symbol for DC.  Do NOT use an iPhone charger.  Do NOT use an iPod charger.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

I'm burning dvd's that won't play on a regular dvd player.  What am I doing wrong?  They play fine on computers but not on dvd players.  Are there some simple things to check to figure this out?  (Sorry, I know this has been asked many times).  Created in DVD studio pro.

    Hi
Just my thoughts to add to the excellent answers above.
    • BRAND of DVD used - Matters when doing Video-DVDs
Memorex, NoName etc cheap brands usually do NOT work
I only Use Verbatim (more organic dye in these)
    • Type of DVD - matters
    - DVD+/RW - usually results in problems
    - DL-DVDs are more problematic than SL-DVDs
    - DVD+R are a more modern sort - BUT PLAYS BADLY or not at all on older DVD-players
    I only use DVD-R
    • BURN SPEED - matters
    - Best in iDVD app - IS NOT BEST at all but results in lot's of Burn Errors = Doesn't play well or at all
I set this down to x2 or x4 max.

Have you activated Digital Editions with an Adobe ID (or a Vendor ID)?
Go to the Help menu and select Authorization Information...
A window will appear to display your authorization information. If your computer is not authorized, you'll need to do that before you can read any DRM-protected books. If you don't have an Adobe ID, you can create one here.

  • I Neo2 Bios LOOPS on Checking NVRam. Stuck!

I just got a brand new MSI board, was working fine for a few days. Today I just rebooted windows XP and now it won't boot. It shows the "Checking NVRam" and then just restarts and loops forever. I have no clue. I reset the CMOS, but it just shows their logo and loops. There's no way for me to get into BIOS.
What does this mean? I didn't flash the BIOS or do anything. Could a virus do that? How could this happen and what can I do to get back up?
    Help Please!!

I had the same thing happen while I was working on configuring my SATA drive.  When I Set the EID setting to SATA and ATA in the integrated settings it set me in the loop as soon as I got out of the Bios.
I discovered that after about 5 or so reboots you can actually get into the BIOS.  After the first few loops passed I just started hitting delete over and over again till it finally let me in..then I was able to go in and set my EID to P-ATA and then selected YES under the next section where it asks if you want to leave SATA as an option (can't remember the exact BIOS wording off the top of my head).
It appears the BIOS' logic gets confused when you tell it to treat ATA and SATA equally.  Not sure if this will fix your issue, but hope it helps.

  • System hangs at "Checking NVRAM..."

I'm trying to figure out which MSI motherboard I have, since it's encountering problems. I know that I could just load up SiSoft Sandra to find out, but...the problem is that I can't boot into Windows     Or, at the least, the system boots into Windows only on rare occasions.
At first what it would do is just hang at that "Corecell" screen and not do anything. The odd thing is that it still seemed to be booting behind that screen...I could see hard drive activity, and the mouse and keyboard would activate. Anyways, after about 20 restarts, it finally decided to boot and I went into the BIOS and disabled the logo screen.
So, I thought the problem was fixed when it immediately booted thereafter, but this morning it refused to start. However, at least now I can see what's going on. It's hanging at the spot where it says, "Checking NVRAM..." So I removed one memory module and tried again, no luck. I put it back in, and removed the remaining memory module, still nothing. Removed the two PCI cards and still it doesn't boot. A quick Google search seems to point to the CMOS battery, but I'll have to identify the motherboard, I believe, before I can get a new one. Unless CMOS batteries are generic. Aside from all this, the system has an Athlon XP 1.15 Ghz processor, and I know the motherboard has a VIA chipset, but that's all I know. However, I can look at any numbers on the mainboard to see what kind it is, if it can be identified in such a manner.
Anyways, I know I sneaked in a thinly-disguised request for troubleshooting in there, but any suggestions that can be offered would be appreciated.

Well, I did set a new CMOS battery, but it still refuses to boot. The BIOS seems to have 'reset', since it booted up with the CoreCell screen again, even though I had previously disabled it. The funny thing is, that even though the bootup hangs on that Corecell or 'Checking NVRAM...' screen, it still appears to boot behind the scenes. I'll see hard drive activity, the mouse, keyboard, and CD drives will initialize. On one of the few times I was able to get it to boot, Windows gave me the screen to boot into safe mode, normal, last known good, etc. - as though windows had loaded but was interrupted by one of my restarts. Also of note is that once I get it to boot, it does work fine. There are no weird crashes, slowdowns, or other irregularities. It's just a matter of getting it past the boot screen.
The local computer shop person seems to believe that the motherboard may need to be replaced, but he may be biased in favour of getting me to buy stuff.
As for information, I was able to get something out of SiSoft, which I'll post here (hopefully it doesn't clutter the screen too much). By the way, I do appreciate your input very much. Thanks!

I have an irritating problem with mail autofilling info in email addresses. Emails sent to me the from looks like this: Holiday in the United States <my email address>. I have no idea what this Holiday in the United States is or how it got to be there...How can I fix/change to my name?
I fixed the To: autofilling incorrectly by deleting my email address from the Previous Recipients List, but is there a way to stop that from coming up on emails that I receive?

Have you checked your Mac address book? If your email is saved somewhere in your address book with the name "Holidays in the United States" it might be adding the name automatically in Mac Mail.
    Alternatively, try this:
Delete an Email Address from Auto-Complete in Mac OS X Mail
To remove an email address from the auto-complete list in Mac OS X Mail:
Start typing the recipient's address or name in a new message.
Select the desired address from the auto-complete list as if you'd compose an email to them.
Click the small down arrow in the recipient.
Select Remove from Previous Recipients List from the menu.
You can also search for the unwanted address directly in the previous recipients list:
Select Window | Previous Recipients from the menu in Mac OS X Mail.
Highlight the address you want to remove. You can highlight multiple addresses by holding down the Command key.
    Click Remove from List.

  • I have a MacBook Pro, Matshita UJ-857E while recording music my drive reported an error: Sense Key=HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code=0x03,0x01 I have no idea what this means, and now my cd burner/player won't work. can someone help me fix this problem?

Please Help me. I am having problems with my MATSHITA UJ-857E DVD-R burner/writer. I burned 4 cd's and then it stopped working.
I can select my songs, and then it asks for a blank disc. It starts preparing to write the disc, then it says,"
The drive reported an error: Sense Key= HARDWARE ERROR Sense Code= 0x09,0x01 TRACKING SERVO FAILURE.
Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix it or what this means because I have no idea what it is talking about or how to begin to fix the problem?

    tanyafrombakersfield wrote:

This is an error reported by the optical drive's firmware. The tracking servo is the servomechanism which guides the laser pickup along the track on the optical disc. The error means that the servo couldn't do its job within the programmed parameters. What it doesn't say is why.
You have to be very precise as to when this error occurs. If it occurs as you wrote, while it "starts preparing to write the disc", and not when it has actually began to burn, then it's likely that the drive has gone bad and needs to be replaced.
There are other possibilities, so you should check them, but they would be more likely if the error occurred after the drive began to write. OrangeMarlin has suggested two options -- try a different brand of CD or DVD, and try cleaning the lens.

I am getting the above message on many of the websites that I use, including YouTube, Soundcloud and others.

Using the "Network" preference pane in "System Preferecnes", choose your connection type (ie, Wi-Fi, Ethernet) and then click the "Advanced" button.  One of the tabs in the drop-down pane that appears is labelled "DNS".  Choose it to see the DNS settings in use by your computer.
If the address of the DNS server(s) listed are of the form 208.67.222.222 or 208.67.220.220 then you are using OpenDNS.  If using the DNS provided by your router, then it will be of the form 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.1.1, or similar.
Checking your router's setting depends on the router model.
Note that the way OpenDNS parental controls work, someone has to have an account with OpenDNS (not just be using their public DNS servers), and that account is associated with a specific IP Address.  For you to be getting that message means that you have a) made a DNS request for a site using OpenDNS and b) you have made it from an IP Address that is associated with an OpenDNS account with parental controls turned on.  That's the sort of thing which is highly unlikely to happen by accident (but not impossible)...how do you access the Internet?

I ran hardware test and error 4MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1322 came up. Anyone know what this is?

    Hi guys,
I have a similar problem, the numbers at the end of the error code change a bit, when i do the apple hardware test again ( I have an imac of early 2008, 2,66 GH). I have  2 GB Ram now, after one week ago one of the 2GB-Ram sticks "died") In fact, it was working quite much, then suddenly (i bought imac in june 2009) the ram stick was broken. The apple-support center told me its probably not a problem, but did not tell me what the error code means.  I have apple-care for 3 years, its a luck i did it, so they will take it and check carefully, but just after i insisted on the error. It seems they do not want to tell u what that could be....
Do u guys think the ram-stick was broken because the imac was too hot???

  • Anyone know what this code is doing?

    Howdy,
Don't suppose ya know what this code could be doing:
    TABLES:  nast,
            *nast.
      SELECT * FROM  *nast
             WHERE  kappl       = nast-kappl
             AND    objky       = nast-objky

        IF *nast-vstat = 1.
          processed = 'X'.
        ENDIF.
      ENDSELECT.
      CHECK processed NE 'X'.
Its got me stumped! what on earth is *NAST?
Are we simply looping through all the entries in NAST???
Basically I came across this code because I am trying to write a program that gets triggered when the user saves a Debit note.
My program should then take the billing document number that was saved and use it to create a credit memo request, but finding the billing document number was a pain and someone told me that I had to use NAST or something...
ANyhow, I came a cross the following code but it doesn't make sense...
    I think it should be
    TABLES:  nast.
    data: wa_nast type NAST.
SELECT single * FROM  nast into wa_nast
             WHERE  kappl       = nast-kappl
             AND    objky       = nast-objky
             AND    kschl       = nast-kschl
             AND    spras       = nast-spras
             AND    parnr       = nast-parnr
             AND    parvw       = nast-parvw.
        IF nast-vstat = 1.
          processed = 'X'.

    What do you all think?????

    Thanks Rich,
May be you are right or may be I didn't amke myself clear.
I think my program will be connected to the output type via transaction NACE. Then whenever the user saves a debit memo it will trigger the output type and this should then trigger my program to produce the BDC based on the billing document number in the debit memo.
I thought this would be passed into nast-objkey and I thought I would write an entry routine that could be placed in NACE that access my program.
AM I correct in thinking that this would work????
