Checking NWA Java EE application logs

Hi
I got an issue with Seeburger SFTP adapter and i am trying to check the Log trace files in NWA under systems -> Start and Stop-> Java EE Applications.
When i select the application and click logs corresponding to that then i get this message instead of trace
Log file information cannot be retrieved from the server. This may be because the log archive directory (.../cluster/server[X]/log/archive) contains too many zip files. You may either manually delete them or move the archives to a temporary directory.
How can i retrieve the log files.

Kalyan,
>>the log archive directory (.../cluster/server[X]/log/archive)
Try to clear the files in the above folder and try to run your scenerio for log file
Cheers

    Hello experts,
    I'm trying to deploy Seeburger user mappings on a Windows 2003 server environment using the JSPM.
    Several Seeburger version were deployed to test and I already upgraded the JSPM to support pack 5, but the error in the NWA  remains.
    When I check the details, this is what I see:
    ERROR CODE DPL.DS.5035] Application [seeburger.com/com.seeburger.bicxiadapter.module] cannot be started. Reason: it has hard reference to resource [seeburger.com~com.seeburger.jucon.lib] with type [library], which is not active on the server.
    Hint: 1) Is referred resource deployed?  2) Is referred resource able to start?
    The seeburger.jucon.lib comes with the BIC module and should have been deployed, but that doesn't seems to be the case.
    I also tried OSS note 1223333 to force updating.
    The result of the JSPM is mentioning that everything was deployed successfully.
    Please advice.
    Thanks a lot
    Dimitri

    Hi Dimitri,
      have you seen note  -

    Anyone know the reason and how to avoid this error?
    Thanks.

    It means that you were not authenticated (such that, did not have a valid http session instance) - before trying to service the request.
    authenticate first via the application, then try and access the DocServlet.

  • BACKUP failed to complete the command BACKUP DATABASE. Check the backup application log for detailed messages.

    Hi,
    We have a back up that is failing.
    The error is "BACKUP failed to complete the command BACKUP DATABASE RPS. Check the backup application log for detailed messages.".
    As I understand it the backup application log is at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\MSSQL\LOG. From that all I get is
    2014-03-05 14:49:29.41 Backup      Error: 3041, Severity: 16, State: 1.
    2014-03-05 14:49:29.41 Backup      BACKUP failed to complete the command BACKUP DATABASE myDb. Check the backup application log for detailed messages.
    The command I am using is
    BACKUP DATABASE [MyDb]
    TO  DISK = N'D:\Domains\SQL_Backup\DB\myDb\Mydb_FullBackup_20140305_1100.bak'
    WITH NOFORMAT, NOINIT,  NAME = N'mydb-Full Database Backup', SKIP, NOREWIND, NOUNLOAD,  STATS = 10
    GO
    The database is Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition (64-bit) Version 9.00.1399.06.
    The computer is Windows server 2003 R2 Standard Edition SP2
    The Db is 191 Gb and there is 227 Gb available on the D drive where it's being backed up to.
    Any thoughts as to how I can track down the problem.
    Is the 227Gb of spare disk space big enough to back up a 191 Gb database?
    If not how much is needed?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Can you apply latest service pack .I dont know but guess that can be issue.Once faced ,not quite sure.Also can you just make your command like
    BACKUP DATABASE [MyDb]
    TO DISK = 'D:\Domains\SQL_Backup\DB\myDb\Mydb_FullBackup_20140305_1100.bak'
    WITH NOFORMAT, NOINIT, STATS = 10
    GO
    Just a simple one .Is backup failing immediately or after some time .Error is not so helpful as it does not shows any information

    Hi,
    Restarting the computer should have stopped the appserver.
    To kill the appserver manually you can go to the command prompt
    <install-dir>\Sun\Creator2\SunAppServer8\bin\asadmin.bat\stop-appserv
    Thanks,
    RK.

  • Questions on deploying Java desktop applications

    Hello,
    I have searched the forums and been unable to find the information I need. I am not sure this is the appropriate forum to post at but had to start somewhere!
    I have a Java desktop application which has only been used internally at my organization for R&D. We are now working with our legal folks on setting up various licensing options. The funding organization today said that they wanted the software set up such that deploying it externally would have behaviors such as:
    * preventing one CD being used to install on multiple machines,
    * preventing someone from copying the installed software from one machine to another,
    * have a way for the software to "expire" after a set amount of time.
    I have never had to deploy software externally before (nor does it seem has anyone else at my organization - we do science R&D) and am at a loss as to how to best do this. I have googled around a bit but not found any solutions. Has anyone here done this and could perhaps give me some pointers?
    Much Thanks,
    Keri

    Given you new not only to deployment, but also
    posting to these forums, I will take the opportunity
    to point out that I let this post be for a couple of
    days since in had no Dukes assigned. To my
    eye, dukes indicate how important a question is
    to whoever asked it, and I do not generally have
    time to answer questions that are not important.
    You can add dukes to a thread at any time.

    Web start apps. are usually deployed directly off
    a server/internet site. Although deployment off CD
    is theoretically possible, it is uncommon.
    The basic answer to all your questions as asked is 'no'.
    However, if the legal people can take a slightly different
    line, and that server/site has some 'active' element to it
    (e.g. it is generated using servlets), there might be other
    options worth considering.
    The basic approach would be not to sell licenses
    per machine, but per 'use', in the sense that if
    I were to sell you a license, it would be for 'nn users',
    rather than 'nn machines'. This means that if you
    had a license for 'two' users (let's call them Bob
    and Harriet), both Bob and Harriet could use any
    PC in the organization to use the software,
    but once they were both logged in, no further
    users of the software would be allowed.
    The way to achieve this is to have the application
    'phone home' to the server and tell it the
    username(/password). Every 2-3 minutes,
    the app. should get back to the server and
    confirm it is 'still running..'. If the app. cannot
    reach the server, it reports a problem to the
    user, and exits.
    If the server does not get a 'still running' confirmation
    in a time longer than that few minutes, it assumes
    the app. is off-screen, and frees that 'licence slot'.
    The reason to keep letting the server know it is
    there, is that if Harriet were to be logged in, and
    Bob accidentally trips over the power cord and
    drops Harriet's computer in a screaming heap,
    her app. will never have the chance to 'log out'
    and inform the server to free the slot.
    As such, it is important to allow her to log-in again in
    'a few minutes' (which is probably about the amount
    of time it will take her machine to reboot, and chide
    Bob for his oafish carelessness).
    Using this system, the first & second requirements
    above become redundant - as it is not the number of
    PC's that we care about - just the number of users.
    The third requirement could easily be handled on
    the server-side, checking licenses as users
    log-in, and confirming that license is still valid.

  • XI 7.0 NW 2004s install - JMS Errors in applications.log & defaultTrace

    We just installed XI 7.0 NW 2004s.  The installation of XI 7.0 NW 2004s is a lot simpler than XI 3.0 NW 2004 since the Template installer runs most of the post installation steps.
    However, there are a few issues that I am encountering that i did not see with XI 3.0 installations.  The installation is on Windows 2003 server and SQL server 2005.
    Checking the applications.log file through Visual Administrator LogViewer, I see that the Applications log is filing up every few seconds with the following repeating errors:

    This is filing up both the applications.log and defaultTrace files.  I cannot find any information through Service Marketplace.  Has anyone encountered this issue?  This is new installation - no messages are running on it so I am not sure why there is a JMS error.
    Regards,
    Jay

    Hi Jay,
    The exception means that the JMS Provider is not able to write to the transaction log file upon close of a transacted session. In NW04s, JMS transactions are stored as files on the local file system. The location of the root folder where the transactions are persisted is configured by the JMS service property "transactionStorePath". You can check its value through the Visual Administrator -> Services-> JMS Provider -> Properties. Please check if it contains a correct directory path and that nothing prevents the server from writing to this path - access rights, enough disk space, etc. If there is something wrong with the path, you can change it, save the change and restart the JMS provider service for the change to become effective.
    You can also have a closer look at the server trace file: the root cause of the above exception is some other exception, probably I/O one, and it should be logged somewhere in adjacency to the JMS exception.
    There is ongoing JMS communication even in a new server installation - in this case (judging from the stack trace) the component that performs this JMS activity is the timeout service.
    Hope this helps,
    Stoyan

  • How to diagnose rapid memory growth in Solaris 10 java server application

    Hi,
    We have a production java based server that experienced large memory growth recently and we are looking for help in diagnosing what might be the cause. The memory footprint of this java server application is limited to 120M using the jvm -Xmx switch. The server process size held consistently at around 180M until an event happened that caused the process size to rapidly increase to aprox 3G. We used the java jstat command to check the application heap usage within the jvm was within the specified limits.
    This application can be performs java Runtime exec's to run simple shell scripts from a variety of java threads in the server app.
    We have attempted to search for a cause by analysing the output of the pmap, pfiles, and pstack commands but have been unsuccessfull at this. We have also attempted to run the libumem.so library with the application in the hopes of using mdb to find out where the heap usage is. Unfortunately when we followed the instruction on using limumem the application stopped working due an ELF error.
    The following are what we used for libumem:
    LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libumem.so
    UMEM_DEBUG=default
    UMEM_LOGGING=transaction
    export LD_PRELOAD UMEM_DEBUG UMEM_LOGGING
    <run the application>
    The error we got is:
    ld.so.1: nohup: fatal: /usr/lib/libumem.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
    We are looking for advice on how to proceed in finding the cause for this growth. In addition to the diag info below we have captured the core file for the application from gcore. The following is the output from pfiles, pmap, pstack, and the showrev command.
    Any help/suggestions appreciated.
    Steve

    I was finally able to reproduce this problem where I observed that within a 5 minute time span the jvm process grew from around 180M (VS) / 100M (RSS) to 2G (VS) / 1G (RSS). Here are some samplings at the end of my dtrace run showing the largest allocations that were made. We suspect this might be a JVM bug (since jstat reports our heap is well below the 120M limit we specified). Do you have any suggestions on how we might resolve this issue ?
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Juniper Java Secure Application Manager does not work with Snow Leopard

    Anyone else having issues as well? I'm not using a client - its basically the Java based application manager for VPN connections to work (so I can remote desktop to my work PC).
    Once logged in, it gives a "Restart your browser" error.
    Thanks for your help

    OK - so I got it to work. Here's what I did. Let me know if it works for you:
    I wasn't able to follow the instructions exactly as noted in the original link I posted above.
    The terminal command, specifically wget would not work - there is no wget.
    I manually downloaded the Java 1.5 version, by following the link (just clicked on it). I 'unzipped' it and moved it into the library/frameworks/JavaVM.framework/versions folder.
    So now the 1.5.0 is not an alias (as it is by default in SL), but the older version of Java.
    I then followed the instruction related to changing the order in JAVA PREFERENCES.
    The final stop - and I think this is key, is that I forced Safari to start in 32 bit mode. You can do this by going to Applications, highlighting Safari and hitting CMD-I. Then check the 32 bit option.
    Start Safari, go to the appropriate URL and login. The Java Secure Application Manager should then start as it used to do in Leopard. You should be all set.
    Hope this helps - let me know if someone has questions.

    Hello Petr,
    Initially I added java.util.PropertyPermission into "ProjectProperties->Application Descriptor->API Permissions" in NetBeans 8.0 but did not specify "Protected Resource Name" and "Actions Requested".
    After seeing the JAD containing this, MIDlet-Permission-Opt-1: java.util.PropertyPermission "" "",
    I added fileconn.dir.private into "Protected Resource Name" and read into "Actions Requested" and it works!!
    Thank you very much for your hints that made me look into the JAD.
    Regards,
    CheeSeng

  • Good exception handling policy for Java web application

    I'm looking for a good exception handling policy for Java web application. First I found this Java exception handling best practices - How To Do In Java which says that you should never catch the Trowable class nor use e.printStackTrace();
    Then I found this Oracle page The Message-Driven Bean Class - The Java EE 6 Tutorial, which does just that. So now I'm confused. Is there a good page online for an exception handling policy for Java EE Web applications? I have a hard time finding one. I've read that you should not catch the Exception class. I've been catching it previously to make sure that some unknown exception doesn't slip through early in the loop and stops all other customers from executing later on in the loop. We have a loop which runs once a minute implemented using the Quartz framework. Is it OK if you just change the implementation to catch the RuntimeException class instead of the Exception class? We're using Java 7 and the Jetty Servlet Container.

    I'm looking for a good exception handling policy for Java web application.
    If you have not done so I suggest you start by reviewing the several trails in The Java Tutorials.
    Those trails cover both HOW to use exceptions and WHEN to use them.
    This trail discusses  the 'controversy' you mention regarding 'Unchecked Exceptions'
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/essential/exceptions/runtime.html
    Unchecked Exceptions — The Controversy
    Because the Java programming language does not require methods to catch or to specify unchecked exceptions (RuntimeException, Error, and their subclasses), programmers may be tempted to write code that throws only unchecked exceptions or to make all their exception subclasses inherit from RuntimeException. Both of these shortcuts allow programmers to write code without bothering with compiler errors and without bothering to specify or to catch any exceptions. Although this may seem convenient to the programmer, it sidesteps the intent of the catch or specify requirement and can cause problems for others using your classes.
    Why did the designers decide to force a method to specify all uncaught checked exceptions that can be thrown within its scope? Any Exception that can be thrown by a method is part of the method's public programming interface. Those who call a method must know about the exceptions that a method can throw so that they can decide what to do about them. These exceptions are as much a part of that method's programming interface as its parameters and return value.
    The next question might be: "If it's so good to document a method's API, including the exceptions it can throw, why not specify runtime exceptions too?" Runtime exceptions represent problems that are the result of a programming problem, and as such, the API client code cannot reasonably be expected to recover from them or to handle them in any way. Such problems include arithmetic exceptions, such as dividing by zero; pointer exceptions, such as trying to access an object through a null reference; and indexing exceptions, such as attempting to access an array element through an index that is too large or too small.
    Generally don't catch an exception unless you plan to HANDLE the exception. Logging, by itself is NOT handliing.
    First I found this Java exception handling best practices - How To Do In Java which says that you should never catch the Trowable class nor use e.printStackTrace();
    That article, like many, has some good advice and some poor or even bad advice. You get what you pay for!
    I've read that you should not catch the Exception class.
    Ok - but all that does is indicate that a problem of some sort happened somewhere. Not very useful info. Java goes to a lot of trouble to provide specific exceptions for specific problems.
    I've been catching it previously to make sure that some unknown exception doesn't slip through early in the loop and stops all other customers from executing later on in the loop.
    If the exception is 'unknown' then maybe it NEEDS to 'stop all other customers from executing later on in the loop'.
    That is EXACTLY why you don't want to do that. You need to identify which exceptions should NOT stop processing and which ones should.
    Some 'unknown' exceptions can NOT be recovered and indicate a serious problem, perhaps with the JVM itself. You can NOT just blindly keep executing and ignore them without risking data corruption and/or the integrity of the entire system Java is running on.
    Is it OK if you just change the implementation to catch the RuntimeException class instead of the Exception class? We're using Java 7 and the Jetty Servlet Container.
    No - not if you want a well-behaved system.
    Don't catch exceptions unless you HANDLE/resolve them. There are times when it makes sense to log the exception (which does NOT handle it) and then raise it again so that it gets handled properly later. Yes - I know that is contrary to the advice given in that article but, IMHO, that article is wrong about that point.
    If you have ever had to maintain/fix/support someone else's Java code you should already understand how difficult it can be to find WHERE a problem occurs and WHAT the exact problem is when exceptions are not handled properly.

    When I request the papp.jsp page I end up in an infinte loop, caught between papp.jsp and ssosignon.jsp.
    An earlier thread in this forum discussed the same problem, guessing that the cookie handling was the problem. This thread recommended a particlar servlet , ShowCookie, for inspecting the cookies for the current session.
    I have installed this cookie on the server, but don't see anything but one cookie, JSESSIONID.
    At present I am running the jsp sample app on a Tomcat server, while Oracle 9iAS with sso and portal is running on another machine on the LAN.
    The configuration of the SSO sample application is as follows:
    Cut from SSOEnablerJspBean.java:
    // Listener token for this partner application name
    private static String m_listenerToken = "wmli007251:8080";
    // Partner application session cookie name
    private static String m_cookieName = "SSO_PAPP_JSP_ID";
    // Partner application session domain
    private static String m_cookieDomain = "wmli007251:8080/";
    // Partner application session path scope
    private static String m_cookiePath = "/";
    // Host name of the database
    private static String m_dbHostName = "wmsi001370";
    // Port for database
    private static String m_dbPort = "1521";
    // Sehema name
    private static String m_dbSchemaName = "testpartnerapp";
    // Schema password
    private static String m_dbSchemaPasswd = "testpartnerapp";
    // Database SID name
    private static String m_dbSID = "IASDB.WMDATA.DK";
    // Requested URL (User requested page)
    private static String m_requestUrl = "http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/papp.jsp";
    // Cancel URL(Home page for this application which don't require authentication)
    private static String m_cancelUrl = "http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/fejl.html";
    Values specified in the Oracle Portal partner app administration page:
         ID: 1326
         Token: O87JOE971326
         Encryption key: 67854625C8B9BE96
         Logon-URL: http://wmsi001370:7777/pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login
         single signoff-URL: http://wmsi001370:7777/pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_logout
         Name: testsso
         Start-URL: http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/
         Succes-URL: http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/ssosignon.jsp
         Log off-URL: http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/papplogoff.jsp
    Finally I have specified the cookie version to be v1.0 when running the regapp.sql script. Other parameters for this script are copied from the values specified above.
    Unfortunately the discussion in the earlier thread did not go any further but to recognize the cookieproblem, so I am now looking for help to move further on from here.
    Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

    Pierre - When you work on the sample application, you should test the pages in a separate browser instance. Don't use the Run Page links from the Builder. The sample app has a different authentication scheme from that used in the development environment so it'll work better for you to use a separate development browser from the application testing browser. In the testing browser, to request the page you just modified, login to the application, then change the page ID in the URL. Then put some navigation controls into the application so you can run your page more easily by clicking links from other pages.

  • SSO between a Java EE application (Running on CE) and r/3 backend

    Hi All,
    Over the past few days I have been trying to implement a SSO mechanism between NW CE Java Apps and R/3 backend without any success. I have been trying to use SAP logon tickets for implementing SSO.
    Below is what I need:
    I have a Java EE application which draws data from R/3 backend and does some processing before showing data to the users. As of now the only way the Java App on CE authenticates to r/3 backend is by passing the userid and pwds explicitly. See sample authentication code below:
    BindingProvider bp = (BindingProvider) myService;
    Map<String,Object> context = bp.getRequestContext();
    context.put(BindingProvider.USERNAME_PROPERTY, userID);
    context.put(BindingProvider.PASSWORD_PROPERTY, userPwd);
    Now this is not the way we want to implement it. What we need is when the user authenticates to CE ( using CE's UME) CE issues a SAP logon ticket to the user. This ticket should be used to subsequently login to other system without having to pass the credentials. We have configured the CE and Backend to use SAP logon tickets as per SAP help.
    What I am not able to figure out is: How to authenticate to SAP r/3 service from the java APP using SAP logon tickets. I couldnt find any sample Java  code on SAP help to do this. (For example the above sample code authenticates the user by explicitly passing userid and pwd, I need something similar to pass a token to the backend)
    Any help/pointers on this would be great.
    Thanks,
    Dhananjay

    Hi,
    Have you imported the java certificate into R/3 backend system ? if so.
    Then just go to backend system and check on sm50 for each applicaion instance of any error eg.
    SM50-> Display files (ICON) as DB symbol with spect.(cntrlshiftF8)
    You will get logon ticket details.
    with thanks,
