Checking on dead client
Hello all,
I have written a custom datasource to stream jpeg images usinf RTP to an applet in a web page.
My question is: How do I check to see if my client is still alive? If I just close the browser, my application has no way of knowing that it should stop. I am using an RTPManager and thought that I would have something in that class that would signal this condition, but haven't run across it yet.
Thanks in advance,
Bill Bedsaul
you can overide the finalize method of the applet like
this:
protected void finalize() throws Throwable {
//put your code to close the streams and resources
here
this method should get called when closing the browserCan this method be used if suddenly there is a problem with the network?

How to check Integration Server Client and ABAP stack Client?
How to check Integration Server Client and ABAP stack Client? How to check,,pls tell in detailed steps???
Points would be awarded.
Arnabhi,
Must be the server has different clients, one declared as application server ie abap stack client and the other declared as Integration server ie XI. U might be trying to open idx5 in application server client, in which idx5 exists but you cant open the screen even, that can be achieved through we02.
000 is the default client when XI server is installed .We can create separate clients on the system through sccl tcode.
As told we can find the client on sap logon screen.
Logon to sxmb_adm and check whether the client is declared as an application system(r/3) or Integration server(xi).Try idx5 in xi not r/3

How do I check the oracle client version?
Hi All,
How do I check the oracle client version installed from the OS level. I do know my database version I need to check which client is being used. Is there a table where this information is stored.
Thanks
Shabnadisp+work.exe -V will tell you which OCI version was used during compiling and linking.
Oracle uses release independent DLL Names (Unix people would say Shared Libraries) and therefore the SAP Kernel will dynamically load any Oracle Client Version found in the standard DLL Load Path during startup.
If you have more versions installed on your computer and you are not shure which one is loaded you can use Process Explorer (freeware, see www.sysinternals.com) to find out which one is loaded. If they belong to an Oracle_home (up to release 9.2) refere to Oracle Universal Installers Inventory information in order to find out which exact version is used.
If an Oracle10 Instant Client is used, there is no corresponding Oracle_Home. In this case you can use Windows Explorer (right click on the DLL -for example oci.dll), select properties, the Version Tab and File Version).
But unfortunately Oracle is not updating the File Version every time they are patching something.
An SAP ABAP Server Integrated Resource is the version information disp+work.exe -V is listing (evquivalent to SM51 - Release Information).
<b>Datenbank Client Library : OCI_10201_SHARE (10.2.0.2.0)</b>
OCI_10201_SHARE is telling us the compile/link environment, the number in brackets (only available starting with Oracle10) tells us the the result of an Oracle Client GetVersion call. Unfortunately this one does also not reflect the installed Minipatch version up to now.
Here are some results on 10.2.0.2 Windows X86_64:
SM51: Datenbank Client Library : OCI_10201_SHARE (10.2.0.2.0)
Explorer (OCI.DLL located in the same directory as disp+work.exe):
10.2.0.2.0 Patch2
Explorer (oraociicus10.dll - the instant client implementation, this version is the one actual since mini patch 10.2.0.2.5 and it was definitely changed in 10.2.0.2.5):
OraOCIICUS10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0
oracore10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oranls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
orasnls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oraunls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oravsn10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oracommon10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Patch1
orageneric10.dll - 10.2.0.2.0 Patch2
oraclient10.dll - 10.2.0.2.0 Patch2
orapls10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Patch1
orasql10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oraxml10.dll - 10.1.0.2.0
orahasgen10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oraocrutl10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oraocr10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oraocrb10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oranbeq10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
orantcp10.dll - 10.2.0.1.0 Production
oracommon10.dll from the rdbms server does report 10.2.0.2.0 Patch5 at the same time. compare it with the version information of oracommon10.dll included in oraociicus10.dll. Both patches are included in the same patchset (10.2.0.2.5).
there are two possible conclusions about this:
1. the version infomation is not very reliable.
2. the Oracle Patch and Build environment is not very reliable

Tracking dead clients..
Hi,
A newbie question. How can a server figure out if a client has been improperly shutdown/has crashed/is dead ? Is there a way of pinging the client ?
thanks in advance.
GaneshThis is a good approach, but there's a slight problem: the RMI Runtime will only call this method when the list of client objects AS A WHOLE no longer references the remote object! If you wanted information about only a CERTAIN client, then this approach does not work, since the runtime cares only if ALL of the apparent objects that could or/are refencing a certain bound object, are NOT referencing that object TOGETEHER. Moreover, Sun does not specify after how long the "unreferenced" method will be called. This is another disadvantage. If you really must go ahead with your little project, then i suggest you build in your own technique to detect both individual client crashes/non-references. If you do, you even have the advantage of building a mechanism whose time can be altered (that is, the mechanism to determine AFTER HOW LONG the unreferencing should be checked.)

Not possible to make full check in email client?
HI,
I saw that doesn't exist the possibility to make a "full check - check all" into the email settings.
Is nice that the checks can be done individually, but I think will be useful to have a "check all" option, in case that you want to move all emails into another folder for example (supposing that you have hundreds of emails, which is another issue because the email client is not able to save the received messages)You can check all in the Hub for emails or text to mark them read or delete, but no option to move all. Just click an hold on the date and slider appears on the right to Mark all read or delete.

How to check remote server(client server) name in RFC
Hi, gurus..
Is there a way to get a name of client server in RFC.
There is an RFC 'ZTEST' at System B.
'ZTEST' could be called by any system.
So, I want to check the authority by calling system's name.
System A is allowed to call System B, but System C can not.
Please help me.The destination "BACK" can be used to refer back to the caller.
So you can do something like
CALL FUNCTION 'RFC_SYSTEM_INFO'
DESTINATION 'BACK'
IMPORTING
rfcsi_export = rfcsi_export
current_resources = current_resources
maximal_resources = maximal_resources
recommended_delay = recommended_delay.
..to get the system information of the caller.

As designers/developers we always focus on such things. It's
interesting
that the massive committee of clients involved here (who want
to make
semicolons italic!) have not commented on this yet!
Nevertheless, I can
boost the quality of those guys.
For what it's worth, this rotation is an implementation of
PVII's
SlideShowMagic that has been hacked down to the bare minimum.
It was the
best rotate and fade script I could find that wasn't Flash.

This is a very good comment - and you are just weird.
I'll see if I can soften that a bit. Not the weird part,
though.

Yeah - that's minor. 8) How about I change that alert to say
"for
'<district name>'" rather than 'for this district'?

Yeah - actually that page is going to change to more of a
mission and
justification page, with subordinate links to a Bios page.
And we do plan
to use images there, but the panel idea is intriguing....

Yeah - it is. Bare. Perhaps the search field will spruce it

It was quite enough! 8)

Bypass CRL check in Expressway client cert check
When using the Client Certificate Testing feature on an Expressway, is there a way to bypass the CRL check? I currently don't use one and I get this error when trying to test, "Invalid: unable to get certificate CRL, please ensure that you have uploaded a CRL for the CA that signed this client certificate"
Thanks, MikeOn Tue, 4 Feb 2014 16:18:48 +0000, samp76 wrote:
Mike... when you say..."please check if you the CDP is accessible with public network and open port 443 for CDP from firewall. "
Are you talking about doing something else other then going to
http://CA.mydomain.com/CertEnroll/CA.mydomain.com.crl and downloading the CRL? Because I can get the CRL that way.
The problem is with your AIA, not the CRL. The two AIA locations are only
accessible internally so a valid chain from the end entity certificate to
the root CA certificate can't be built.
What does your CA hierarchy look like (1 tier? 2 tier?)

Failing PATH pre-requisite check installing 11g client
Greetings -
I'm trying to install the 32bit oracle 11g database client on Win 7 Professional x64. I'm stuck with this error when the installer gets to the "Perform Prerequisite Checks" step:
Environment variable: "PATH" - This test checks whether the length of the environment variable "PATH" does not exceed the recommended length.
Details:
- PRVF-3919 : Failed to retrieve value of environment variable "PATH"
- Cause: Environment variable value could not be determined.
- Action: Check user equivalence and whether the user has administrative privileges on the node.
Google tells me this might be related to an excessive PATH environment variable length, so I made multiple repetitions of "clean some crap out and try to install again" with no effect. Currently it is set to:
C:\>path
PATH=C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;
And the installer still fails.
I've tried explicitly running the installer via "Run as Administrator" and as a regular user (who is in the Administrators group). No change either way.
Someone on my team suggested making sure the installation target path has no spaces in it. I'm keeping the default path suggested by the installer, which is
D:\app\ladams\product\11.2.0\client_1
where ladams is my Windows user name. I did some experimentation here, changing the install path to things like "D:\oracle" and that hasn't resolved the issue.
Interestingly, if I open the installer log, I can find this line in it near the top:
INFO: PATH has :==>C:\Users\ladams\AppData\Local\Temp\OraInstall2013-01-28_02-19-03PM\jdk\jre\bin;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;;;.
So it can apparently read the path at some point before the pre-requisite check, although it seems to be doubling up the contents for some reason...
Later on in the log file, I see this:
INFO: -----------------------------------------------
INFO: *********************************************
INFO: Environment variable: "PATH": This test checks whether the length of the environment variable "PATH" does not exceed the recommended length.
INFO: Severity:CRITICAL
INFO: OverallStatus:OPERATION_FAILED
INFO: -----------------------------------------------
Is there some way to work around this issue, or just skip the prerequisites check entirely? I found something on a blog via google about being able to pass a "-ignoreSysPrereqs" switch to the installer to bypass the check. When I tried that, the installer still performed it's checks, and failed with the same error, so apparently that was bad info...
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the reply.
I did indeed take a look at the client installation instructions here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24282/toc.htm#BABGCIFF
However, it appears to be out of date, or at least not applicable to my problem. Step 10 refers to an Ignore All button:
"Note: Oracle recommends that you use caution in checking the Ignore All option. If you check this option, then Oracle Universal Installer may not confirm that your system is able to install Oracle Database successfully."
I don't have an ignore all button. At least if there is, it's cleverly disguised. The only option I have after the check fails is "Cancel."
Is there another section of the fine manual I should take a look at?

Check Client exists in system or not
hello,
how to check given input client number exists in system or not?
Any FM or function we have to write?
Wishes
Prince.A client of an SAP system exists by virtue of appearing in table T000.
Whether the client contains data can only be determined by reading tables for data in that client. For example, to see whether user IDs exist in client 300:
SELECT COUNT(*) UP TO 1 ROWS
FROM USR02 CLIENT SPECIFIED
WHERE MANDT EQ '300'.
To know whether a client has been populated with data from another client, then it is probably best to use transaction SCC3 to check the client copy logs. Usually when creating a new client, a client copy will be used to copy standard configuration and security profiles.
If a client defined in table T000 does not contain any user IDs, then it is possible to logon to that client using the special user ID SAP*.
