Checksum incorrect
Hi,
I have written a java program that creates a ServerSocket. This ServerSocket sends a custom object with readObject() function to any connection established.
The problem appears when I listen to the network traffic ( with ethereal ). I realized that any connection established sends ack with "checksum incorrect" .
I tried to run my program in Windows and in Unix, and it was still happening. Also, I tried with an example in java.sun.com and the checksum incorrect was still there!
I'm a little bit worried about this, so any help will be needed.
Thanks

FWSM shows "TCP checksum incorrect"
When we setup a connection between two hosts we receive the message
"TCP checksum incorrect" , This is between a settop box on the outside and a server inside the firewall. This STB used to communicate with the server on port 443 which is NAT-en to port 12697.
With a new settop box image which uses on the inside and outside port 12697 we receive this TCP checksum incorrect on the Firewall with wireshark.
Strange is that on the outside of the firewall we see an MSS of 1460 and on the inside it is 1380 (don't know if there is a relation with this and the issue we have)Hi jkwakman
This could be a normal message in wireshark if the capturing interface is doing TCP offloading in it's driver. See wireshark FAQ http://www.wireshark.org/faq.html#q11.1

JDev 10.1.3.4 and oracle.vcr.adapter.fs.jar
When i unzip jdevstudio10134.zip i see error: checksum incorrect on the file adfp/lib/oracle.vcr.adapter.fs.jar but this file unzipped in the file system.
When i try to unzip oracle.vcr.adapter.fs.jar i see an error: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged.
What is the problem with this file and why it was not zipped normally?It looks like jdevstudio10134.zip was corrupted during transit.
Try downloading it again. I use a download manager, which makes it less likely to 'bugger' up -
Non-global zone sending TCP SYN-ACK packet over wrong interface.
After spending many hours looking at ipmon/ethereal logs, I believe I've found
a explanation (a bug?) for the following strange behaviour (Solaris 10u1):
I've got a non-global zone with Apache2 with dedicated IP and bound to interface e1000g2 of a Sun X4200 box. The global zone has a different dedicated IP bound to a different interface e1000g0.
When I point a browser at the web site, the HTML page often comes up immediately, but sometimes it will hang and only load when I press the reload browser button one or multiple times. This is reproducible with different browsers from different networks with or without DNS resolution. It's reproducible with other non-local zones configured alike and running different TCP based services (namely SSH or non-Apache HTTP).
This is what happens in a failing case (Ethereal client dump "dump_failed.txt" and IPF log "att1.txt" lines 1-3 pp): the incoming TCP SYN comes over interface e1000g2 (correct) and is passed by IPF. However, the non-global zone sends the TCP SYN-ACK package back over interface e1000g0, which is wrong and causes IPF to fail to build a correct state entry. Then, afterwards, the response packets from the webserver will be filtered by IPF, since it has no state entry.
In the success case (Ethereal client dump "dump_success.txt" and IPF log "att1.txt" lines 19-21 pp), the incoming TCP SYN is answered correctly by a TCP SYN-ACK both over interface e1000g2. IPF can build a state entry and all subsequent packets from the webserver reach the client.
=====
The non-global zone has this setup:
zonecfg:ws1> info
...snip...
net:
address: 62.146.25.34
physical: e1000g2
zonecfg:ws1>
=====
The relevant (as of the IPF log) IPF rules are:
rule 1: block out log all
rule 16: pass in log quick proto tcp from any to 62.146.25.34 port = 80 keep state
=====
If I didn't miss an important point, I suspect this to be a bug in Zones and/or IPF.
Any hints?
Thx,
Tobias

Thus I created a bug report: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/40089
i actually noticed it to be an "either-or" type of thing; my Windows clients were seeing the same thing coming off a 3.14 openvpn server.
yeah, weird issue. like i noticed spurts of even-powers-of-2 sized packets

Strange "loopback device" actions on Mac OS X Leopard
Hi all,
I want to explain my little problem to you, hoping someone can give me an answer:
from about a week I'm trying to develop an application that use pylibpcap (a python extension of pcap library) to sniff packets on a pc on ethernet and examine udp packets sniffed.
This python program works very well on LAN, on two different computers (1Gnu/Linux and 1Mac), but if I try to make it work on loopback device (both server program and client program), some strange things happen.
The client simply do this:
*bunnybox:~ alex$ python*
*Python 2.5.1 (r251:54863, Oct 5 2007, 21:08:09)*
*GCC 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5465)] on darwin*
*Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.*
*>>> import socket*
*>>> s=socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_DGRAM)*
*>>> s.connect(("127.0.0.1",23))*

Listening on loopback device (lo0) with Wireshark (a Sniffer Program), it returns (this is the exported log):

But if I try the same command on a different computer on my LAN,
for example: a Gnu/Linux Box of Address: 192.168.1.20 (Mac OS X has address: 192.168.1.100),
this is the python code:

and this is the result sniffed by Wireshark on Mac Os X Leopard Computer (this is the exported log):

As you can see, no errors on UDP Checksum, datagram correctly received and no problems.
*NOTE: don't care about port 23, because no telnet or other services are listening on it, it's only a closed port.*
I don't know if it's a bug of loopback device (lo0),
or a bug of Python's Socket, or pcap problem..
Hope someone can give me an answer,
PS: If this is not an appropriate place to publish this type of question, please tell me where I can.
Have a nice day,
Alessandro.Hi,
Have you receive some answers about your problem because I have the same ...

I use apache HttpClient upload xml file to a server, and it is https. It works for some files, but for some of them i can not even get response, and use snoop to check networking, i found out, for the bad cases, there is one frame shows "unreassembled packet" and the checksum is INCORRECT, the size of the frame is 1514, the total length in Internet Protocol is 1500, but in the beginning of connection it shows MSS=1460,
so who can explain the realtionship between these numbers, and where i can configure or control the segment size when uploading, or it is impossible.yes, 1514 is right, and the checksum incorrect is beacuse i am using snoop right on my server, the checksum has not been calculated by NIC, it is always 0, now i noticed the problem happens when the segment reachs 1460, and then, this packet is "unreassambled". So, i am wondering where is the problem, SSL, or system configure, or somthing else. By the way, my server is solaris 10 , and the peer, i am not soure, IBM, but i think they may use proxy server.

Default setting all over the place k9diamond
hi, i just upgraded my cpu to a 940be, working a dream, overclocks well when 9850 didnt! (see sig for spec)
anyway, with the 9850, if i put things in cell menu on auto, they were all over the place it would set cpu to 3gz etc, so i set it all manually. i flashed to update 3 using the great tool on here.
fitted new cpu, no power held reset cmos to a good while, and powered up,
checksum incorrect press F1 to set up. the cpu volts were red and 1.8 volts!! i really hope this is not what was going through cpu?
so, had to set it all manually and it going great, but what the hell are these defaults about? i thought it would make sense to put everything down until you optimised not go wading in on max power?
bios show s all hardware correctly, just doesnt know how to set it up.
what am i doing wrong?
thanks.Quote
ok will do, im not going to reflash but is it possible, i had a bad flash?
No
Quote
i shall not reflash because everythings great, i just had to set it manually. im on 2.3 bios.
Yes, leave it as is. Also apply vcore correction manually like you already done.

Hello,

We use ftp to transfer the log files from the another country to here, I confirmed the file's MD5(checksum) is same as the copy in client's environment, we have tried to upload the file a couple of times, same outcome.
The full backup is fine, I have successfully restored a series log backups prior to this file.
Has anyone seen this issue before? It is strange, all information indicates the file is good,but somehow it goes wrong.

Hi Albert,
The above error message usually indicates that there is a problem with underlying storage system or the hardware or a driver that is in the path of the I/O request. You can encounter this error when there are inconsistencies in the file system or if the database
file is damaged.
Besides other suggestions, consider to use the
SQLIOSim utility to find out if these errors can be reproduced outside of regular SQL Server I/O requests and change
your databases to use the PAGE_VERIFY CHECKSUM option.

I have a couple of links here for you that should be able to help you with this issue. First, I would suggest isolating the issue by following the steps located in this article:
Isolating an issue by using another user account
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4053
If you are still having trouble with iTunes in the new user account, then you should attempt to reinstall iTunes on your computer. Information about doing this can be found here:
OS X Lion: Reinstall applications that came with your computer
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4360
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

Hi,
Every time I start iTunes, it crashes with the following error :
incorrect checksum for freed object - object was probably modified after being freed.
The problem occurs after I last added new tunes from external mp3 files.
Maybe a corrupted file ?
How can this make iTunes crash ?
Anyway, anybody knows how to find the guilty file ?
Are there any logs ?
Thanks.In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful. -
VISA Read gets incorrect data from serial connection
I am having difficulty using the VISA functions in LabVIEW to read data from a virtual COM port. Data is being sent from a serial to USB chip via a USB connection using OpenSDA drivers. I have a python program written to read from this chip as well, and it never has an issue. However, when trying to achieve the same read in LabVIEW I am running into the problem of getting incorrect data in the read buffer using the VISA Read function.
I have a VISA Configure Serial Port function set up with a control to select the COM port that the device is plugged into. Baud rate is default at 9600. Termination char of my data is a newline, which is also default. Enable termination char is set to true. A VISA Open function follows this configuration, and then feeds the VISA Resource Name Out into a while loop where a VISA Read function displays the data in read buffer. Byte count for the VISA Read is set to 20 so I can read more of the erroneous datat, however actual data will only be 6-12 bytes. The while loop has a wait function, and no matter how much I slow down the readings I still get incorrect data (I have tried 20ms thru 1000ms).
The data I expect to receive in the read buffer from VISA Read is in the form of "0-255,0-255,0-255\n", like the following:
51,93,31\n
or
51,193,128\n
And occasionally I receive this data correctly, however I intermittently (sometimes every couple reads, sometimes a couple times in a row) get incorrect readings like this:
51,1\n
51,193739\n
\n
51,1933,191\n
51,,193,196\n
51,1933,252
51,203,116203,186\n
Where it seems like the read data is truncated, missing characters, or has additional characters. Looking at these values, however, it seems like the read was done incorrectly because the bytes seem partially correct (51 is the first number even in incorrect reads).
I have search but haven't found a similar issue and I am not sure what to try from here on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Attachments:
Serial_Read_debugging.vi 13 KBThe first thing is that none of the error clusters are connected so you could be getting errors that you are not seeing. Are you sure about the comm parameters? Finally, I have never had a lot of luck looking for termination characters. You might want to just capture data and append each read into one long string just to see if you are still seeing this strangeness.
What sort of device is returning the data? How often does it spit out the data? How much distance is there between it and your computer? Can you configure it append something like a checksum or crc to the data?

[DG Physical] ORA-00368: checksum error in redo log block
Hi all,
I'm building a DR solution with 1 primary & 2 DR site (Physical).
All DBs use Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 on Solaris 64bit.
The first one ran fine for some days (6), then I installed the 2nd. After restoring the DB (DUPLICATE TARGET DATABASE FOR STANDBY) & ready to apply redo. The DB fetched missing arc gaps & I got the following error:

===================
I see that may be RFS get the file incorrectly so I ftp to get this file & continue the apply, it pass. Comparison the RFS file & ftp is difference. At that time, I think that something wrong with the RFS because the content of arc is not right. (I used BACKUP VALIDATE ARCHIVELOG SEQUENCE BETWEEN N1 AND N2 THREAD X to check all arcs the RFS fetched, there was corrupt in every file);
I restore the DR DB again & apply incremental backup from the primary, now it run well. I don't know what's happening as I did the same procedures for all DR DB.
Yesterday night, I have to stop & restart DR site 1. Today, I check and it got the same error as the 2nd site, with corrupted redo. I try to delete the arcs, & let RFS to reget it, but the files were corrupt too.
If this continue to happen with the 2nd site again, that'll be a big problem.
The DR site 1 & Primary is linked by a GB switch, site 2 by a 155Mbps connection (far enough for my db load at about 1.5MB/s avg apply rate).
I seach Oracle support (metalink) but no luck, there is a case but it mentions max_connection>1 (mine is default =1)
Can someone show me how to troubleshooting/debug/trace this problem.
That would be a great help!
Thank you very much.This (Replication) is the wrong forum for your posting.

2 screens open at the same time - checksum error when saving 1st screen
I have a problem with one of my applications (built in HTML DB v1.6)
In the application, there's an overview of the records, with a link to a detail-screen which has all the fields of the record are displayed (so basically what you get when you choose "Form on a Table with Report, 2 Pages" when you create a new page). This detail-screen opens in a new window, because the overview takes quite a while to load. So instead of going to a detail-screen and then going back to the overview, the detail screen opens in a new window, the user updates it, and then closes the window after saving.
Now here's the problem: when you open a detail-screen for one record, and then open another detail-screen for a different record, an error occurs when you try to save the record from the first screen you opened: "Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated the update process. Current checksum = ...., application checksum = .....".
The thing is, the 2nd detail-screen you open can be saved without any problems. I guess this is because the checksum in the session is the one from the 2nd screen, so the one from the 1st screen is obviously a mismatch to the one in the session. If I'm wrong about this, please let me know.
But now the question: is there any way to fix this, that it is possible to open multiple screens, and still be able to save them ?hi Scott
application id: 34977 (named Asterix 2.1)
workspace: Athylon
instructions:
-Log in with test/test (not for the workspace, but for the application)
-Then you'll get the main report (page 30 in the app), where at first you won't see data, just a few fields you can fill in. You don't need to fill in anything, though.
-Press "Zoeken" (dutch for "search"), and you will get some data. You dont need to fill in any of the fields above the report.
-Now it should show 2 lines, with different values for column POD.
-If you click the number under column POD, it will open the details of the line in a new window (page 31 in the app). Click the first record, so that will show the details. don't close the window, but go back to the original window and open the details for the 2nd line. You should now have 3 windows: the report, and two screens with the details for both lines.
-now go to the screen which has the details for the record you first opened. Change a field, for example "Comments" (it has some numbers in it, or "some comments" as text). It doesn't really matter what you enter here.
-Click the button "Opslaan" ("save" in dutch) in the top right corner. Now you should get the error that the checksum is incorrect (and in dutch that it can't save the record).
I hope you can identify the cause of this error, because I could not reproduce this in a new application, and I don't see why this error occurs. Not a lot happens when the record is being loaded.
thanks in advance for your time,
Tonnie

Error Notification message checksum content error in APEX 4.2
Hi,
We are Getting "Error Notification message checksum content error" when somebody enters wrong password in one of our installations after upgrade to 4.2
Installation -- OEL 5.5 --> Oracle 11g --> Apex 4.2 --> Weblogic 10.3.4
I understood from other threads, that problem is lying somewhere in apex 4.2 new feature (ajax wait count down), because i get below url in browser
https://<url>/pex/fp=117:101:954676091282¬ification_msg=Invalid%20Login%20Credentials%3Cdiv%20id%3D%22apex_login_throttle_div%22%3EPlease%20wait%20%26lt;span%20id%3D%22apex_login_throttle_sec%22%26gt;10%26lt;%2Fspan%26gt;%20seconds%20to%20login%20again.%3C%2Fdiv%3E/7179423A7E6DAB93CBFA46F23FBCF804/
However i have similar other installations, where i do see the correct error message(Incorrect Login Credentials, Please wait for <n> seconds).
Also i have seen that on other thread somebody giving solutions for similar error in Apache installation, but i couldn't find any for Weblogic installation.
Please help me on this.
Edited by: user9128312 on Dec 17, 2012 6:38 PMHi,
I just checked this on apex.oracle.com and can see both the 'Error Handling' 'sub tab' and the relevant region on the page with attributes for 'In-Line Error Notification Text' and 'Error Handling Function'. This is on the 'Edit Page' page in the builder (4000:4301). Is this the page you are on and are you still not able to see this?

Session State Protection - Arguments must have Checksum - Help Required
Hi everyone,
I am using apex 4.0 and have set:
Session State Protection = True
Page Access Protection = Arguments must have checksum
Application Item Protection = Cecksum required - Session Level
Page Data Entry Item Protection = Cecksum required - Session Level
Page Display-Only Item Protection = Cecksum required - Session Level
On pages which contain a Interactive report the calls to other pages to update and or delete a record passing the PK of the record work OK.
I have set these as follows:
In the Interactive report LInk Colomn --> Link Attribute = onclick="new top.Ext.apex.PopupWindow( { url: this.href, title: 'Edit Classification Details', width: 530, height: 500, listeners: {'success': gReport.search} } ).show(); return false;"
Target = Page in this Application
Page = 302Item = P302_IDCLASS
Value = #IDCLASS#
Page Checksum = - User Default -
The problem is on the "Create new record" button which is located on the Interactive report page. I have defined the button as:
Button Attributes = onclick="new top.Ext.apex.PopupWindow({ url:'f?p=&APP_ID.:302:&APP_SESSION.::NO:302::::', title: 'Create New Classification', width: 530, height: 500, listeners: {'success': gReport.search} }).show(); return false;"
Action when button click = Redirect to Page in this Application
Page = 302
Clear Cache = 302
When I click the button I get the following message:
Session state protection violation: This may be caused by manual alteration of a URL containing a checksum or by using a link with an incorrect or missing checksum. If you are unsure what caused this error, please contact the application administrator for assistance.
If I change the Button attributes to be:
onclick="new top.Ext.apex.PopupWindow({ url:'f?p=&APP_ID.:302:&APP_SESSION.::NO:::::', title: 'Create New Classification', width: 530, height: 500, listeners: {'success': gReport.search} }).show(); return false;"
It works OK, bu the page items are not clear.
Could someone please explaing to me what am I doing wrong so I understand my mistake ?
Thank you
DanielHere's an interesting situation. I have been having great results with the prepare_url function, until I needed to pass a column value from a report into a popup.
Originally, in the Column Link --> URL in the Report Attributes I had this. This worked great when there was no session state protection enabled.
javascript:popUp('f?p=&APP_ID.:17:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:17:P17_EVENT_LOG_ID:#EVENT_LOG_ID#','450','375');When I enabled session state protection and changed the URL link to this
javascript:popUp('&VW_EVENT_LOG.','450','375');and then created an application item and computation in order to pass a checksum along
APEX_UTIL.PREPARE_URL (
p_url => 'f?p=&APP_ID.:17:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:17:P17_EVENT_LOG_ID:#EVENT_LOG_ID#',
p_checksum_type => 3
);the checksum seems to get passed fine, but the column value for the EVENT_LOG_ID is being concatenated to the end of the checksum instead of being passed as the value for P17_EVENT_LOG_ID. I also noticed that the clear cache page (17) looks like it is also being attached to the beginning of P17_.., but I'm not sure if that's to be expected or not.
It took me a while to figure it out, but when I started looking at the error message closely, I could see that the checksum is identical except for the last two digits, which coincidentally are the same as the ID for this record.
The checksum computed on the request, clear cache, argument names,
and argument values (17P17_EVENT_LOG_ID [C6161B29B4C078F68DCF430133407754] ) did not match the checksum
passed into the show procedure (C6161B29B4C078F68DCF43013340775490). Any thoughts on how to pass a column value with a checksum to a popup window?
Thanks,
Joe
