Child control events

Okay I have custom control based on panel. That contains 2
input text control 1 textarea and a button.
I add my panel control in to a viewstack that has 2 canvas.
Now My question is that how can I change viewstack canvas
when I click that button in the custom control or alternative. how
can i listen that buttons event.

Ok, I am still a bit soft on events, but since no one else
has responded,try this (no warranty):
in the component, dispatch an event, with the bubbles
arg=true:
<mx:Button click="displatchEvent(new
Event("myButtonClick",true))" .../>
In the main app, since the event is bubbling, you should be
able to listen for it. In a function called by initialize or
creationComplete:
this.addListener("myButtonClick", myButtonClickHandler);
private function myButtonClickHandler(event:Event):void {
Alert.show("myButtonClick");

  • Is there an event for a composite has a new child control?

    I want to know is there an event for a composite has a new child control?
    For example,
    Composite parent = new Composite();
    Label child = new Label(parent, SWT.None);
    I want to know the parent composite is getting a child label when new label
    create then immediately.
    Thanks.

    Also, I got this comment (a bit of a warning) from Dimitri:
    <blockquote>I just saw this pattern used by <i>[customer]</i> - they (used to check) if the member was senior, and if it was, it was responsible for some periodic cleanup tasks and whatnot.
    This worked fine in the test application and broke immediately when we added dedicated cache servers, or standalone JMX console etc, i.e. it is perfectly possible for the Console to be senior without any application classes in it's classpath, or for the dedicated cache server to be senior and only application servers have logic in place to run stuff.</blockquote>
    In other words, depending on your deployment, it may not be as simple as just "being senior", you may also want to use a "Role Name" for example (configurable and accessible per member).

    Hi all,

    Hi Nick,
            Thanks for the reply... it is really very useful for me.
    As I discussed in my earlier mail regarding the output sequence, which should be in the below format.
                                           number       quantity uom      unitprice        amount curr
    plant
           material
                   date
                                             x                 y                    z                      A
                                             e                 f                     g                      h
                                             p                 q                     r                      s
                   subtotal date..... 1                   2                    3                       4
                   subtotal  material.5                  6                    7                       8
    As you said when I using <b>event of Begin</b> its working fine. but while using the <b>event of end</b>,  I am specifying date and then matnr (sort) its taking(nodes are created mean first matnr and then date) in the reverse order and when I am taking matnr and date it is placing the events(nodes) in the right order but the order date is not triggering.
    can please tell me how to proceed here..
    waiting for your reply..

  • How do I use javascript or formcalc to reference child controls (not by name)

    Hi everyone,
    I've created a ton of reports in the past, and I'm now looking at creating some reusable objects so that other people can use advanced form functionality without having to learn to use scripts.
    A lot of the coding was acheived using this, .parent, etc. so that they can rename controls and subforms without having to worry about breaking scripts. One issue that I am having is that Some of my code looks at children controls, and references them by name (for example, I have some code that uses setfocus to move the user to the first field in a subform).
    In most languages, there are ways to refer to child controls via an indexer or an items/children array. i.e. Subform.items[0].rawValue.
    I know that this would pose some issues, but I think I could sort it out, if only I knew where to start. Is there some way to reference a child control without it's name?
    Thanks for your help!
    - Scott

    Hi Scott,
    The subform has a nodes collection you can loop though, as you suspected.  If might show up more than you want but you can test the className to see if it is a field and then ui.oneOfChild.className to work out what type of field. So;
    for (var i = 0; i < Subform1.nodes.length; i++)
        var n = Subform1.nodes.item(i);
        console.println(n.className + " " + n.name + " " + n.ui.oneOfChild.className);
    Hope this helps.

  • Control Events

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me what control events in ABAP are and their syntax.
    Thanks n Regards
    Dinesh

    Hi,
    Control Events are
    1. AT NEW f.
    2. AT END OF f.
    3. AT FIRST.
    4. AT LAST.
    When you sort an extract dataset, control levels are defined in it.The control level hierarchy of an extract dataset corresponds to the sequence of the fields in the HEADER field group. After sorting, you can use the AT statement within a loop to program statement blocks that the system processes only at a control break, that is, when the control level changes.
    AT NEW <f> | AT END OF <f>.
    ENDAT.
    A control break occurs when the value of the field <f> or a superior field in the current record has a different value from the previous record (AT NEW) or the subsequent record (AT END). Field <f> must be part of the HEADER field group.
    If the extract dataset is not sorted, the AT... ENDAT block is never executed. Furthermore, all extract records with the value HEX 00 in the field <f> are ignored when the control breaks are determined.
    The AT... ENDAT blocks in a loop are processed in the order in which they occur. This sequence should be the same as the sort sequence. This sequence must not necessarily be the sequence of the fields in the HEADER field group, but can also be the one determined in the SORT statement.
    If you have sorted an extract dataset by the fields <f1>, <f2>, ..., the processing of the control levels should be written between the other control statements as follows:
    LOOP.
      AT FIRST.... ENDAT.
        AT NEW <f1>....... ENDAT.
          AT NEW <f2>....... ENDAT.
              AT <fgi>..... ENDAT.
              <single line processing without control statement>
          AT END OF <f2>.... ENDAT.
        AT END OF <f1>.... ENDAT.
      AT LAST..... ENDAT.
    ENDLOOP.
    You do not have to use all of the statement blocks listed here, but only the ones you require.

  • TabNavigator Child Control Problem on Programmatic SelectedIndex Change

  • Register Control events?

    Hallo,
    I've discovered that I can connect a control reference to the EventSource
    input of the RegisterForEvents function. This event (e.g Button1:MouseUp)
    appears as dynamic event in the EventStructure editor. Up to this point it
    seems to be possible to dynamically register for control events. But
    register another event (e.g Numeric1:ValueChanged) in the Button1:MouseUp
    handler fails and LabVIEW tells "Cannot connect different refnum types".
    Dynamically register for control events is something I'm desperately
    searching for.
    1. Is it just an unwanted behaviour that I can connect a control reference
    to a RegisterForEvents function or is this the first step to an
    undocumented feature.
    2. If it is intended behaviour, how can I complete to
    register another
    event in a handler?
    Thank you

    The register for events lets you specify which object(s) you are
    interested in receiving events on. If you have a VI event, you can
    register and reregister at various points in your program to specify
    which you are currently interested in. If the events is a Boolean
    event, then any Boolean will work, but numerics aren't Booleans. If you
    define the initial event to take a Control reference, then both Booleans
    and Controls can be wired up since both inherit from Control.
    Also note that wiring a not-a-refnum will unregister everything meaning
    you don't want events for any particular control.
    As for whether or not it is unintended or undocumented. It is
    definitely intended, and I suspect that it is documented. Also, I'm
    pretty sure the examples show how to do this.

  • I down loaded two movies to watch on a flight, when I tried two watch either one of them, it said" not authorized for this content"   Not sure what this means. I don't think I have child control on.

    I Down loaded two movies to watch on a flight. When I tried to watch either one of them it said " not authorized to watch this content" and it would load to watch. I donot believe I have child controls on.

    I have read about some cases where movies rented or purchased on one device will not play on another device. Seems to happen mostly with Apple TV and iPads. One way some have worked around it is to cable from the downloaded device to a TV or Apple TV.
    Were these movies purchased or rented from iTunes? Not sure, but that almost sounds like a iTunes Password problem. Maybe try checking that you're signed in as the same account that purchased the movies.

  • Link Menu Event and control event

    I would like to have a menu item that performs the same function as a control event ("Save" or "Print"). Because there is only an event case for general "menu selection," it appears that I cannot just add an event for a specific case.
    For example
    Save Data case:
    Button: Save Data
    Menu Item: Save Data (Ctrl+S)
    Print case:
    Button: Print
    Menu Item: Print (Ctrl+P)
    Is there a way to do this without just duplicating the entire event case?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Use Producer Consumer with Events template to start
    In the consumer decode the event into a case structure by reading the menu item or menu tag string.
    Heres a simple example

  • Recursively iterating over all child controls

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to recursively iterate over all child controls in my Flex 4 application, and I've been doing something like this to get the immediate children of a particular container:
    public static function getElements(parent:Object):Vector.<IVisualElement>{
         var result:Vector.<IVisualElement> = new Vector.<IVisualElement>();
         for(var i:int = 0; i < parent.numElements; i++){
              result.push(parent.getElementAt(i));
         return result;
    I can then call that function recursively.  It works--kinda.  The way it doesn't work is that if I call this object on the application object itself, it will only give me back elements that are visible in the current state.  As I move from one state to another, different elements are returned by my getElements method.
    So, is there are way I can find all child elements, whether or not they are visible in the current state?
      -Josh

    Hi Josh,
    So, I've come up with some quick code for you. However, I must add my disclaimers first:
    The code is incomplete in that it excludes children of children that don't use states, but includes children of children that are associated with states of the parent. I'm also definitely not an expert in how our states system works.
    I'm not sure what your use case for all of this is, but my best guess is that it would be better to find a different way to solve your problem than to go the route of introspecting states. It's a long and dirty road =).
    Other than that, I've attached the code for you. The meat of this is:
         *  Finds all elements in all states that use the states of the specified parent.
        public static function getAllElements(parent:UIComponent):Vector.<IVisualElement>
            var container:IVisualElementContainer = parent as IVisualElementContainer;
            if (!container)
                return new Vector.<IVisualElement>();
            var result:Vector.<IVisualElement> = getCurrentElements(container);
            var states:Array = parent.states;
            for each (var state:State in parent.states)
                for each (var addItems:AddItems in state.overrides)
                    var elt:IVisualElement = addItems.items as IVisualElement;
                    if (elt && !containsElement(result, elt))
                        result.push(elt);
            return result;
    This method takes the parent container (in my case, the application) and returns a vector of children elements that associate themselves with the states of this parent container. First, it grabs all the elements already created from the parent container. Next, it iterates over each state and then each AddItems of each state. The AddItems object contains the information and pointers to the specific element that will be "added" when the current state changes to that state. By calling addItems.items, we force the creation of the specific element which is returned to us. Now, we can use a simple containsElement() method to check for duplicates and build a list of elements that would be added to each of the states.
    Again, the code is finding all of the children of the provided parent in all of its parent's states; however, it also finds children of children that may be using the parent's states as well. But if the children of children are not using the parent's states then it will not be found (easily fixable if you recurse). In addition, knowing which elements belong to which container just from introspecting the State object is pretty complicated and involves understanding how addItems.apply() works.
    Anyway, I hope this helps you. I would be interested in hearing your use case since this code is pretty complicated. I'd like to see if I could help by finding a different approach for your problem.

  • Parenting and child control with AS3

    Hi,
    I'm new to AS3 and although I can see some good practice and functionality I'm constantly getting stucked and can't yet make things that I would do so easily with AS2 - I almost need to relearn it from scratch!. Still I would appreciate some help and guidance on this...
    I made a class that creates a "kind" of menu with data from a XML file and basically what it does when it is called is create a emptyMC (a container), add a childMC (a square) and add another child (a text label). When I create the container I'm trying to add a MouseEvent that can act on each the container instances but all I can get is a MouseEvent on object containing all the added MCs. The code follows.
    Can anyone enlight me with this issue or explain what am I doing wrong.
    I can't understand well the dynamic parenting with AS3 and the lack of using instance names and dot parenting doesn't help.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Best pattern to signal a parent control from a deeply nested child control

    #1
    The application i created hosts intially a logincontrol.
    The login control signals the application with
    OnAuthenticationPassed to move states.
    This state change removes the login control and loads the
    administration control.
    this one level nesting is okay to be handled by having the
    parent listen to an event the child makes... but when multiple
    levels of nesting occurs... chaining events just to propagate the
    message up .. is not a flexible solution... example:
    The administration control hosts a lot of specific task
    controls.
    [ArticleManagement - (contains categorymanagement, new
    article, edit article -- further nesting controls)]
    eventually the session will die out on the server... so when
    a task (example: submit new article) the server response will be:
    <response>
    <isAuthenticated value="false" />
    </response>
    I will then have to propagate this message up to the
    application parent level so that administration control panel is
    removed and replaced with the login control.
    what is the best way to handle this?
    #2
    what are common transition patterns when removing one panel
    and putting another in its place? [i'm an application developer not
    an animator.]
    thanks,
    Leblanc Meneses

    thanks for the bubbling information. for a minute I thought i
    had to create a singleton to centralize registering events. I'm
    glad the framework manages this inside UIComponent .. less things i
    have to worry about.
    about animiation: thanks first of all.. looking nice now.
    my current implementation works but you can see where the
    viewstack starts and ends by when the control and leaves, enters
    the scene through the animation.

  • Office 2013 - SharePoint Web App: How can I link a subform on two Master/Child controls?

    I have a form in which I have placed a subform in a SharePoint Web App.
    I also have 2 controls on the form, from which I'd like to link to two columns on the subform.  How can I have two Master/Child linking relationships to a subform.
    In Access desktop, it is done in a window "Subform Field Linker", like this:
    Master Fields:          Child Fields:
    <sorry I could not include a link until my account is verified>
    Thanks,
    Keith

    Hi Bruce,
    >>Are subforms in web apps different in this regard?<<
    Yes, there are two kinds of database. In an on-premise environment, Access 2013 apps are hosted by SharePoint 2013 while the data is stored in SQL Server 2012. SharePoint 2013 provides authentication, authorization, and security for Access 2013 apps.
    The back-end tables, views, macros, and queries are stored in a SQL Server 2012 database.
    You can get more detail about Access 2013 web app from link below:

  • C# control event handling with javascript

    How can I get javascript to execute for "onchange" / "OnSelectedIndexChanged" event instead of a CodeBehind method? I think "OnSelectedIndexChanged" event has to be handled by CodeBehind; but how can I replace that (or onchange) with
    a javascript event handler?
    I have the following in my xyz.ascx file:
    <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlTypeCar" CssClass="BatsRefAddressTypes" runat="server"
                      onchange="javascript: testAlert();"
                      OnSelectedIndexChanged="ddlTypeCar_SelectedIndexChanged"
                      AutoPostBack="True" />
    I could not get the javascript to execute, even though I removed OnSelectedIndexChanged="ddlTypeCar_SelectedIndexChanged" and/or set AutoPostBack="false".
    Additionally, I tried added the following in xyz.ascx.cs Page_Load() method.
    ddlTypeOfAddress.Attributes.Add("onchange", "javascript: testAlert();");
    which didn't help.
    Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Flex ActiveX Control Event is Missing

    Hi,
    I wrote an ATL CAxDialogImpl based dialog DLL to host a flash
    activex control. When I launched the DLL dialog box from a command
    line C# program, I can get all the events sent from the flash
    activex control to the dialog instance object, e.g. fscommand,
    FlashCall, OnReadyStateChange, etc.
    Now, I try to load the dialog DLL in IE using a simple local
    html with VBScript, the dialog box shows up and the flash shows up
    too. But I can no longer get fscommand, and FlashCall events from
    the Flash activex control to the dialog instance object,
    interestingly, I can still get the OnReadStateChange events.
    I don't know if this is a known problem already, or it's a
    bug, or is there any workaround for it, or I simply did something
    wrong.
    Your help is highly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    EJIANG

    Hi,
    This is due to security functionality introduced in Flash
    8.0. I have read the
    Security
    Changes in Flash Player 8 and pages linked in the
    fscommand
    function documentation several times but it's unclear for me in
    which sandbox are put files opened in hosted ActveX Flash control.
    If someone knows this would be very helpful.
    Adobe states that embeding Flash Player ActiveX is not
    supported and stays quiet. Maybe SliverLight guys will be more
    comunicative.
    We have resolved this by using AxWebBrowser control and
    hosting the Flash player in a webpage instead of hosting it in
    Flash ActiveX.
    Another solution if you are using only local files is to try
    to use "file://YOUR_PATH_TO_FILE" as an argument for LoadMovie
    method. But this works only on local files.
    Hope this helps
