Chinese characters in XML not showing up

Hi,
We are sending an Idoc from ECC to PI. The data in the Idoc is in Chinese. It shows up ok in ECC, but when the Idoc gets transferred to PI, the XML version of the Idoc has all #####s.
Need your expert inputs to determine as to why ####s are coming in instead of the actual data. Is there something which could be done to avoid the same?
Thank you all in advance!!

  • Special characters (norwegian wovels) not showing correctly in Page Layouts

    We have a publishing site which surfaces content from several catalogs in an authoring site in a cross site collection publishing environment.
    We have a problem with labels for Catalog-Item Reuse Snippets containing norwegian vowels/special characters not showing properly. An example of a snippet is shown below. This contains the character ø (oslash).

    The frontend messes the character up and displays this as strange A
    We have tried several things in order to fix this but are running out of leads:
    tried to change encoding in the page layout html file from utf-8 to iso-8859-1
    tried to replace ø with the hex value (&#248;) and the old school & + oslash + ; way of encoding characters
    Regional settings on the server is verified to be norwegian
    The strange part is that actual content in the content type columns that we display around the page actually shows the norwegian characters correctly

    Excellent, thanks!. I checked the top level globalization setting i IIS and this was set to Windows-1252.
    However, our work around solution was to add the
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    declaration inside the first MS-statement inside the body tag of the page layout HTML file like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><!--SPG:
    -->
    <!DOCTYPE html[]>
    <html class="no-js" lang="en" xmlns:mso="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" xmlns:msdt="uuid:C2F41010-65B3-11d1-A29F-00AA00C14882">
    <head>
    <title>Some title
    </title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <!--MS:<asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="PlaceHolderTopNavBar" runat="server">-->
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <!--MS:<SharePoint:AspMenu ID="TopNavigationMenu" runat="server" EnableViewState="false" DataSourceID="topSiteMap" AccessKey="&#60;%$Resources:wss,navigation_accesskey%&#62;" UseSimpleRendering="true" UseSeparateCss="false" Orientation="Horizontal" StaticDisplayLevels="1" AdjustForShowStartingNode="false" MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels="3" SkipLinkText="">-->
    Strange, but it worked.
    Actually we tried to set the globalization settings in the web.config files of the different IIS sites running in the webapp yesterday like this:
    <add name="SPWindowsClaimsAuthentication" type="Microsoft.SharePoint.IdentityModel.SPWindowsClaimsAuthenticationHttpModule, Microsoft.SharePoint.IdentityModel, Version=15.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" />
    </httpModules>
    <globalization requestEncoding="utf-8" responseEncoding="utf-8" culture="nb-NO" fileEncoding="utf-8"/>
    <!--<globalization fileEncoding="utf-8" />-->
    <compilation batch="false" debug="false">
    As far as I can understand this should have the same effect as setting this in IIS.
    It seems that the IIS setting actually overrides whatever you put in web.config for globalization options.
    We have updated the IIS setting now to UTF-8 and done a IIS Reset. At the moment we get corrupted characters still, but now the existing aspx-files probably is corrupted and needs to be replaced with fresh ones. I will do a catalog dis-/reconnect.
    I'll update with whatever we end up with as the final solution. Anyway, very grateful for the invaluable help from a fellow Scandinavian :-)

    Hi paulique, the simplest next test would be to disable all plugins and extensions (except Shockwave Flash, which is pretty much indispensable) here, restart Firefox, and see whether your font works without them:

    orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

What am I doing wrong and how can I get my XML to include those attributes? I have tried exporting the XML in ever Metadata View and it still doesn't show the Tags or Description, only the title.

  • Can only display Chineses characters on OSX, not Windows Vista ?

    I have a OSX 10.5 and a Windows Vista machine, both are configured to use English/United Kingdom as Language/Locale. in a java app on OSX I can view chinese characters ok, but on Windows I cant they are just displayed as a square - why are they being treated differently
    thanks paul

    Thanks, that did work - I used this.setFont(Font.decode("arial unicode 11"));
    But on further investigation I found that the problem only occurred with the default Tahoma font when using JGoodies Windows Look and Feel, using the standard Windows or metal LAF it was fine. If I changed the font it worked with JGoodies as well.

  • Converted XML not showing multiple data entries correctly

    Hello

If I have multiple rows for children then the converted xml looks like this :
    The correct xml for multiple data entries should look like this (this is from a xml scheme not made in LiveCycle) :
    Even if I copy the fields without creating a table, the converted xml is still a mess just like on the first image. Is there a way to show the xml from the PDF from correctly. • Chinese fonts in html not showing up properly sometimes

    I have the following lines in my program :
    JLabel A_Label=new JLabel("<Html><Font Size=3>\u8F93\u5165</Font></Html>");
    JPanel A_Panel=new Jpanel();
    A_Panel.add(A_Label);
    Sometimes the Chinese shows up correctly, but sometimes it shows up as blank rectangles, if I change the font size to 5, it will always show up, why ? How can I make it always show up in size 3 font ?
    Frank

    Hi, thanks for replying.
    I know it works for JLabel without html, but I need to display a lot of information in the label, there are formatted tables, different size fonts, html input fields, etc. , so my only choice is to use html to format them.
    I found it has something to do with the power of the PC running it, isn't it strange ? When the program starts, it needs to initialize, takes a while, from a few seconds to half a minute, sometimes if it didn't have a lot of data to load, the fonts shows up correctly, other times when it takes a while to load a lot of data before it displays the html formatted JLabel, the fonts may not all show up correctly. Size 5 always shows up correctly, the size 3 & 4 font sometimes could show up as blank rectangles.
    I wonder if there is anything I can do in my program to stabilize this when I use html in JLabel ?

  • XML not showing load progress...

    I have a fla file that loads a slide show from an XML file. The xml file contains info about each slide. There's over a 100 slides so the loading takes some time. However I'm not getting actual load progress. It traces nothing until after the load is complete and then it shows the progress that it should have traced one by one, however it traced them all at once on the complete. Because it's not firing the onProgress correctly my preloader is rendered useless. Am I doing something wrong on is this a bug in Flash?

    Actually it still doesn't work like I need it to. The loading of the xml preloader only works if the temporary internet files are gone. Which means that the time I need the loader is during the parsing of the xml process. I have a function that creates an object for each slide after the xml loads. It runs through a for loop, however the loader won't appear and work during the for loop. It only works after its finished.
    function ParseSlides(slideInput:XML):void {

      MovieClip(root).loading_mc.bar.width = buildPct * loadBarWidth;
      MovieClip(root).loading_mc.loading_txt.text = "Building Slides... " + (Math.round(buildPct * 100)) + "%";

    Hi, Jenny,
    When you said unable to insert to database, do you mean you get all ? marks in the database or garbage characters in the database?
    ? marks mean there are some byte chop off, and garbage characters mean the bytes are ok, just encoding problem.

    My iPad users sent emails to Outlook(2003,2007) users but Simplified Chinese characters are all not readable!

    If you are having the same issue, the answer is "no".  You could try to switch the OS language to Chinese and see if that makes a difference.  The iPad has no way to select the encoding of outgoing messages, any adjustment necessary has to be made at the other end.

  • When type Japanese characters they appear not at cursor place. How to solve?

    Hi,
    There is some troubles at Japanese text input. When start to type Japanese (or Chinese) characters they appear not at cursor place, it's very inconvenient for using. How could it be solved?
    Some screenshots done in demo TLF site http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/textlayout/demos/
    Regards,
    Ann

    It would be strange if this would be the desired behavior. The problem is - the position of the "input box" on the screen is changing and is not even predictable.
    I am using Windows XP.
    Here it is in one position
    Here I clicked on the Font drop-down - so now I have the position there, and whatever I do, it stays there.
    Unless I click on Data sourse drop-down - then I have it there
    This input box does not return to the editor, although after hitting Enter I do get the characters at the place of the cursor.
    But it makes it basically unusable for japanese and some other languages - if there are any other controls in the application, the input box moves to them if I click there, and does not return. Besides, in many cases it overlaps already inputted text, which is very inconvenient for the user.
    Where is this input box supposed to be by design, I wonder? And how do I keep it there?
    Another question - is the support for inline input planned and if so, when?

    I have a file I created in FrontPage and am now migrating
    over to DW. Most of the language on the page is English, with a
    portion of Chinese.
    My Chinese characters do not show up in Design View, but when
    I preview or upload the page to the server (live), they show up ok
    in IE and FF. Everything worked fine in FrontPage.
    Why can't I see them in Design View? I have looked in the
    Help for languages, character sets, etc.

    Once again, no one seems to know much about this question.
    (I've noticed it's gone unanswered in previous years.)
    In the Knowledgebase, I find only this: "Encoded HTML
    documents created outside of Dreamweaver may not display correctly
    in Dreamweaver. This includes documents that have been hand-coded
    or created in another HTML editor."
    This was updated in March, 2006.
    Which leads me to say, bugger. I guess there's little point
    in accommodating those 1.2 billion Chinese.

  • Why Chinese characters not showing up in JLabel correctly , sometimes ?

    I have a large program which uses a JLabel to display some Chinese characters in html, it was doing fine until the program grew larger and larger, then only html fonts in certain sizes will show up correctly, other sizes of the same fonts will show up as rectangles. It's not because it doesn't have these fonts, but it seems to be related to the complexity of the program. If I change the characters in rectangles to a different size ( smaller or larger ), they might show up correctly again (in the large program).
    I have a small test program below to see if a particular font size would show up correctly, they all showed up fine in this test, but if I try to display the same html in my large program, some sizes of characters will go wrong. I've even printed out the unicode and looked at them (6309 4f60 7684 9700 8981 ...), they are definitely in the Chinese character range.

    I called this test program from my large program, and it won't display correctly, it will only display all sizes of characters correctly if I run the test program by itself.
    I've posted a similar question in Java/Swing but got no answer. So I'm trying it here. The above test program will compile and run, it can display all sizes of html fonts correctly.Which means it's not lacking any fonts. I've even tried the following in my large program :
    dialog.validate();
    dialog.repaint();
    pane.validate();
    pane.repaint();
    pane.updateUI();
    A_Label.validate();
    A_Label.repaint();
    A_Label.updateUI();
    Still doesn't work, does anyone know why and how to fix it ?

    I've just made a breakthrough, the large program will work correctly if I comment out : A_Non_English_Label.setFont(Times_New_Roman_15_Font);
    But then the font doesn't look the way I wanted it to be.
    So I changed it to the following :
    ================================================
    Font Courier_New_15_Font=new Font("Courier New",0,15);
    A_Non_English_Label.setFont(Courier_New_15_Font);
    ================================================
    Now it looks not the same but similar to the way I wanted. Thus my question becomes : why it can't work correctly with "Times_New_Roman", but with "Courier_New" in the large program, they both displayed correctly in my small test program ? Is it because it takes too much resource to load the "Times_New_Roman" font ?
