Choosing the columns for a Bi Publisher report in APEX

A user wants to select each column in a pdf report printed in APEX, it is easy to make a report with bi bublisher but how can i change the columns at run time.

Thanks for the link. I am reading it for better understanding.
I just came to know from SR that, In order to see the BI Publisher in the Presentation Server list of values, we have to embed the BI Publihser report inside an OTBI Dashboard.
So we need to create a 'Dashboards' folder (It is must only then we are able to see it via fusion apps. to select and embed), then Dashboard and add the desired report to this dashboard. Now we can navigate to this dashboard, open it and select the page to embed it.
Might be useful for the ppl who faces similar issue. Thanks.

    Thanks for your replies !
    Is there any other way to achieve this ?
    There is 1 InfoObject which has 2 fields Employee and Department.
    Employee     Department
    001                A
    001                B
    001                C
    In the report there should be 1 row for Employee 001 with all the Departments displayed in the same cell separated by commas.
    Can this be done in the backend through a ABAP code?

  • IS Indesign the best for me (or Publisher)

    Hi,
    I am working for a company and have to design a few procut data sheets, broshures and finally a whole product catalouge.
    I really would like to take Indesign because it is very famous and "the standard" for these topics.
    But it is really expensive. I have some experience with the program.  But I have some questions to you. Thank you a lot for answering my questions:
    1.) other members of my company would like to use Microsoft Publisher (they all usw Microsoft so that's no disadvantage)
    Are there any advantages that M Publisher is not able to do?
    I don't need any  3D or very special stuff. Just for my topics above.
    2.) I want to create single sheets. These sheets should be able to combine in a whole document.
    Is this possible with these "books"?
    Is it possible to easy create a table of content? automatically? an index that is changing if number of pages or size of documents change?
    Is it possible to link inside the pdf document that users can jump from table of content to a specific chapter by clicking?
    3.) How should the structure have been done?
    Do I need 2 versions for each file? One for printing and one for pdf viewing on computers?? Or is it possible just to create one?
    Also with different languages. Is it recommend to use the laysers for this thing?
    Or not (because of the idea of creating an easy catalouge.) I need 2 versions. So does it make sense to combine it in one single file?
    The catalouge has to be switched otherwise in every single paper. isn't it?
    Are there any other tips and comments?
    Maybe I use a differnt approach or designing idea?
    thanks a lot for helping me!

    Ok that's clear. I mean do I need 2 files on indesign? On for web and one for printing. because when starting a new project,Indesing asks me which model I should use.
    The other file (pdf) is just exporting isn't it?
    Thanks a lot for your help.

    Yes you need 2 files, one for you native program(MP or InDesign), and the other your .pdf for viewing on computer that do not have MP or InDesign.
    And possibly a second (separated, hires, with bleed etc.) pdf for the actual print on paper if that is intended.

  • Call BI Publisher Report in APEX, based on R.T.F Template Layout.

    Hi to all respected members of this forum.
    Since 18th May (Saturday), I am trying to connect BI Publisher Reports with Oracle Application Express 4.2.2.
    My APEX Version = APEX 4.2.2
    Oracle BI Publisher Enterprise Edition (Trial) = 11.1.1.6.0
    Oracle BI Publisher Desktop 32 Bit = 11.117.0.79
    For this purpose what I did?
    Firstly I downloaded Oracle BI Publisher Enterprise Edition 11.7 and when I started Installation I came to know that "R.C.U (Repository Creation Utility)" is required during installation and I don't have that so, left this idea.
    Than I downloaded Oracle BI Publisher Enterprise Edition (Trial) from www.oracle.com and BI Publisher Desktop Edition for Templates because there is no facility in BI Publisher Trial Edition to design Report Templates. I have installed both successfully and created a report as per my requirement.
    Now, I want to call that report in Oracle APEX but I am unable to do that.
    I followed http://dgielis.blogspot.de/2007/12/call-bi-publisher-report-from-apex.html but the link which is shown in picture no: 03, is not available, so this didn't help me.
    Then, I followed Oracle BI Publisher Blog https://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/entry/apex_users_why_not_integrate_w which discuss to call BI Publisher Report in APEX based on "Generic Report Layout". This done successfully but still I am unable to call BI Publisher Report .
    Then I found this type of script
    http://localhost/xmlpserver/Guest/Reporting_Channel.xdo&id=FGFC&password=****&xt=Reporting_Channel&xf=pdf
    to call BI Publisher Report in APEX but this also failed.
    Please help me to understand that how to call "BI Publisher Report in APEX, based on R.T.F Template Layout.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Are you trying to have multiple sql queries and have multiple sections displaying different data sets ? Or with one single query but display it in different ways in a single report ?
    You can create one single query as Report Query in APEX and associate it with a BIP report layout. So you can achieve a Dashboard layout with the report query/layout.

  • End User will build the report by himself by choosing the columns from tabl

    We are using Oracle 10g Application server (Forms and Report Services), Forms and Report., our most urgent requirement is End User have to build the required reports by him Like wizards style, (Example Adhoc, MIS reports)., More clear, from the form we want to show all the tables structures, queries, after that end user will choose some columns from the form and specified the condition by himself to run the report after that he will press start button , then automatically report has build for the selected columns from the end user., and this report is parmanent afterwords., he can use any time.
    Like this kind of report building is possiable , anyone has faced same situation.

    Yes it is.
    In BW, this can be achieved by using document management. The option will be available to the user via context menu in the report (goto-->documents - text/pdf/img etc). In your case user can choose to create/change/display a 'text' document, which will be attached to the report.
    cheers,

    How to do this , any help on this ?

    Hi,
    I would propose reviewing the eText documentation. I noticed that for RTF templates it's difficult explicitly set the length though within an eText template, you can specify the intended length.

  • Write to the database from a BI Publisher report

    I have a requirement to setup a BI Publisher report that writes a snapshot of data to a database table whenever the report is run.
    Putting aside whether doing this is a good idea or not (I'd prefer not to do it for security reasons) if I were to do it in SQL server (that i'm more familiar with) I'd write a stored procedure that does this and enter "exec storedprocedurename" as the report query.
    From searching through this board I see that I'm supposed to use a pipelined function instead of a stored procedure but I'm unclear if once I have setup the pipelined function that I'll be able to achieve my objective of both returning the data to the report as well as writing it to a snapshot table, is this possible? If so then I have some questions as I don't really understand the syntax with my limited pl/sql knowledge.
    create type numset_t as table of number; --where does this go, it doesn't appear to be part of the function?
    create function f1(x number) return numset_t pipelined is
    begin
    for i in 1..x loop
    pipe row(i);
    end loop; -- do I need to do a looP? i just want to do select *...
    return;
    end;
    select * from table(f1(3)); -- again this appears to be outside the function, where does it go?
    Thanks
    Bruce

    Jorge:
    I was looking into something similar some time ago. The suggested solution may or may not work for you, depending on what it is you want to write to the tables. I was trying to write audit information - who ran what report when. Through BI Publisher template variables I could get the who and the when, but not what report was being run, so the report trigger option wasn't of any use to me.
    In the end, I opted to change the attributes of the report so that the "show controls" checkbox is unchecked and make users run all reports through BI Publisher Scheduler. It turns out that reports run via the scheduler have all of that data saved off and you can see it from the Schedules/History display.
    Good luck,
    Gaff

  • All the columns of an alv grid report are not downloading in excel in 1 lin

    Hi All,
    I have some 60 columns in my alv grid report and user can download the report using list->export->localfile->spreadsheet.
    What the issue is that all the columns are not downloading in one line, instead they split in two rows.
    Please help.

    hi,
    just use this procedure it will solve your problem:
    Firstly export  the data to memory using the FM LIST_FROM_MEMORY.
    CALL FUNCTION 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY'
    TABLES
    listobject = t_listobject
    EXCEPTIONS
    not_found = 1
    OTHERS = 2.
    IF sy-subrc 0.
    MESSAGE e000(su) WITH text-001.
    ENDIF.
    then i converted it into ASCII using LIST_TO_ASCI,
    CALL FUNCTION 'LIST_TO_ASCI'
    TABLES
    listasci = t_xlstab
    listobject = t_listobject
    EXCEPTIONS
    empty_list = 1
    list_index_invalid = 2
    OTHERS = 3.
    IF sy-subrc NE 0.
    MESSAGE e003(yuksdbfzs).
    ENDIF.
    This gives the data in ASCII format separated by '|' and the header has '-', dashes. If you use this internal table directly without any proccesing in SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1, then you will not get a good excel sheet attachment. To overcome this limitation, i used cl_abap_char_utilities=>newline and cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab to add horizontal and vertical tabs to the internal table, replacing all occurences of '|' with
    cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab.
    Set the doc_type as 'XLS', create the body and header using the packing_list and pass the data to be downloaded to SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 as contents_bin.
    This will create an excel attachment.
    Sample code for formatting the data for the attachment in excel format.
    u2022     Format the data for excel file download
    LOOP AT t_xlstab INTO wa_xlstab .
    DESCRIBE TABLE t_xlstab LINES lw_cnt.
    CLEAR lw_sytabix.
    lw_sytabix = sy-tabix.
    u2022     If not new line then replace '|' by tabs
    IF NOT wa_xlstab EQ cl_abap_char_utilities=>newline.
    REPLACE ALL OCCURRENCES OF '|' IN wa_xlstab

    wa_xlstab = cl_abap_char_utilities=>newline.
    IF lw_cnt NE 0 .
    lw_sytabix = lw_sytabix + 1.
    u2022     Insert new line for the excel data
    INSERT wa_xlstab INTO t_xlstab INDEX lw_sytabix.
