Chromium Error

The next error appears when running chromium from console:
[6:6:563241780:ERROR:nss_util.cc(447)] NSS_VersionCheck("3.12.3") failed.  We depend on NSS >= 3.12.3, and this error is not fatal only because many people have busted NSS setups (for example, using the wrong version of NSPR). Please upgrade to the latest NSS and NSPR, and if you still get this error, contact your distribution maintainer.
I have checked NSS version which is: nss 3.13.4-2
And NSPR which is: nspr 4.9-1
I am running on a X86_64 updated.
I also tried unsintall chromium / delete config files / reinstall chromium and the problem remains.
Anybody with the same isse?

jouki_nebov wrote:I has the same problem because my /var directory was overflow. After I cleared it problem solved.
That was it! All it needed was a:
pacman -Sc
and problem solved.
Guess I should keep an eye on my / size, pacman cache can increase quickly.

    Problem:
I am getting this error message in the terminal when running Chromium.
    [joe@myhost ~]$ chromium
[27299:86881142345:ERROR:object_proxy.cc(239)] Failed to call method: org.

The terminal launches Chromium, and starts up fine. The problem I am having is a speed issue which may or may not be related to what the
terminal is showing. Loading sites (pnc.com, ign.com) takes more than around (45 to 130 seconds).
I did a search on google using the exact error message, which took me to the developers chat between the error code, I also searched their bug reporting lists to find that
there wasn't anything relating to this particular message. I searched the ArchLinux forums and came across the Segfaults thread, and followed the instruction of upgrading (which seemed to fix their problem, not mine.)
    The actions I have taken:
    Install Chromium using pacman,
Upgraded to the most current releases (pacman -Syu, pacman -S chromium).
If anyone could point me in the right direction on either fixing this particular error, or just what I could do to speed up Chromium in general I would be in great debt.
I think it might just be the way I installed arch. But haven't had any problems with firefox (except for flash).

    Welcome to the forums.
That specific message is harmless and can safely be ignored. Some additional info can be found here if you really want to know more about it.
Now for the issue at hand. Try disabling the DNS prefetching setting (Tools --> Options --> Under the hood).

Hello, I just recently re-installed arch and Chromium on my computer.

When doing this the Icons next to the website name, as well as the close icon in Chromium lowered about 3 pixels or so.
I have tried setting the gtk theme to others and am currently using Zukitwo, deleting my ~/.config/gtk-2.0 and gtk-3.0, uninstalling chromium and removing it's settings, removing /usr/share/themes/Futura-*, and have been searching the forums for a while.

  • Libpulse/Skype & Chromium issues

I had a problem with skype where skype crashed shortly after login. I checked the wiki and sure enough there was an answer to solving that problem.
As the wiki suggests, i did:
    # cd /usr/lib
    # chmod ugo-r libpulse.so.0.16.*
    # chmod ugo-r libpulse-simple.so.0.0.4
And skype ran afterwards, however after doing that i cannot get my speakers and microphone to work (skype detects microphones as speakers and speakers as microphones) i had formerly been able to solve this issue by configuring gstreamer-properties, but this time doing so has no effect.
Also, skype seems to occasionally freeze on file transfers.
And now when i try to run chromium i get the following error:
    # chromium
/usr/lib/chromium/chromium: error while loading shared libraries: libpulse.so.0: cannot open shared object file: Permission Denied
How do i fix skype's sound device bug after changing to libpulse-simple?
How do i fix chromium after fixing skype?
How do i make the gstreamer settings stick after reboot?
Note: Even if the issue is with libpulse, i have not installed (and ofc do not use) pulseaudio. To tell the truth i don't see the purpose of pulseaudio it can't even replace alsa....
    Edit:
The Real Problem seems to be: That gstreamer & libpulse get confused when another application is using a specific (not "ALSA's Default") speaker or microphone(device).
Last edited by rabcor (2014-01-27 02:08:02)

    V1del wrote:
There's no "confusion" nor does libpulse have any part in it (nor does gstreamer, neither skype nor chromium use it afaik), if you set an ALSA device directly  that device will be locked for the application first requesting it, alas only teamspeak will be able to use it. If you set to default probably dmix is employed that's why you get sound in more apps that way. Same applies to input devices so if you set your usb it will be locked by TS, leaving skype with the internal one.
Now you could try and find a proper configuration for your asound.conf (I can't help you with that, but there are some proficient ALSAers on this board who may be able to help you, the skype/alsa wiki may be a good place to start, you may have to load snd_usb_audio as default)   or use pulseaudio, which was written for this exact  purpose and usecase you describe here (just to show you the purpose of it ), which allows you to freely redirect any and all streams over all of your sounddevices as you please
Thanks for clarifying that, i had no idea it worked that way and i've been using linux for a while now. Why don't tutorials and installation guides mention stuff like this? D:
I'd rather not install pulseaudio if i see no reason to use it. I guess for now just shutting down teamspeak if i want to VoIP on skype is a good enough solution for me personally, setting snd_usb_audio to the default device would be a dumb move for me since these are headphones, i actually don't know the name of my device, I set snd_hda_intel @ index=2 and usb at =1, i don't know what 0 is called, but the problem is that if i set snd_hda_intel at index 0 for setting it as the default card, it defaults to the S/PDIF(HDMI plug) channel which acts as a separate card(ATI R6xx HDMI) for some reason (the one i use is IDT 92HD81B1X5).
But if anyone else has this problem i guess maybe they'll have to install pulseaudio-alsa if they want to solve it i'm satisfied for now, but thanks for the help anyways R00KIE, it's good to know that that's the next step towards solving this if i ever see a reason to do so

  • 3rd party repository+damage [SOLVED]

    Hey friend.
I have seen the following complaints online when search for it but none of the threads helped me solved my forum.
I've done some damage to my system.
There are many programs I can't start.
The error message that I get is
/usr/lib/chromium/chromium: error while loading shared libraries: libpng12.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I believe that it is due to 3rd party repositories that I had (and of course, removed already)
    how can I solve that?
    thanks!
Last edited by ohadbasan (2010-02-09 00:30:12)

Glad it worked. I didn't *know* it is the cause at all, it was mostly *computer-empathical guesswork* on my part
I had cairo-lcd from AUR installed when I set up my system around a year ago and meanwhile had completely forgotten about it and after the libjpeg/libpng update I suddenly couldn't start my filemanager, editor, xfce-terminal... basically anything with a GUI.
Reinstalling the progs themselves didn't help either so I had a look on the arch anouncement (via elinks on the console, that was funny) which stated explicitely something like not to forget to rebuild any third party/AUR applications that might be installed, which I hadn't done though I had read the announcement (dumb me...)
So I went through the AUR-progs I had piece by piece and after cairo-lcd install voila my filemanager and stuff was living again.
So your "2GB of binaries not working" together with my own experience just sounded very familiar.
I have no real info what cairo does exactly but I think it is utilized by all those progs in some way to draw their GUIs, but from the errors they gave it wasn't obvious - at least for me - that not the progs themselves but something else they want to use failed.
Do I understand you right that chromium still won't work? If so, try recompiling it again. Now that you have a working cairo, that should do the trick.
Oh and please mark the thread as [SOLVED] if all problems are gone.
    Have fun with your Arch

  • Rendering errors with firefox and chromium SPECIFIC to Arch LInux

Guys - can someone please browse to https://www.americanexpress.com and click on "User ID" using whatever browser?  For me under both Firefox and Chromium, there is some sort of rendering error that prevents me from doing so.  In the screenshot you can see how there is a "phantom menu" that appears above the login dialog:
I booted into a live ubuntu 11.10 CD and tried from there using firefox - no such error.  Now I'm asking myself if this is somehow related to Arch and if so which package should I use in a bug report... thanks for the interest.
    EDIT: x86_64 and nvidia drivers.
EDIT2: x86_64 and nouveau have the same result.

  • Chromium-dev et chromium-beta same error and crash

    Hello,
I'm running with chromium from extra which works well but not really up to date.
So I tried to install (from aur) chromium-beta and then chromium-dev. Install worked well but I always have this screen :
As you can see, nothing is working. Even if I try to go in the "extensions" tab.
Where can I find the log ?  One time, the terminal told me I was "out of memory"  but I have 4go RAM and I really don't think it is the problem.
I tried looking on the chromium blog but I didn't find similar error
Thank you for your help  :-)

Chormium doesn't provide a hell of a lot of feedback. However, the webkit part of chromium is crashing. If you look in dmesg you will see the segfault. Pierre got a working build in testing so you might want to checkout it out.

  • Cisco web voicemail doesn't work w/ Chromium -- quicktime error

My company uses web voicemail so I can listen from my phone or browser interface. For some reason, it's not picking up what it needs with Chromium. The web page loads (us-voicemail-01.company-domain.com/inbox), and I get the following errors when I click the play button:
you must have quicktime installed to play voicemails in this browser
    missing localized string: quicktime.error.notininstalled
    quicktime.error.notininstalled
    error occurred while playing back
    This is chromium 21.0.1180.89-1.
I also installed chromium-pepper-flash-stable 11.3.31.232-1 with no change in behavior.
Google-chrome doesn't work either. I also get the same error if I install openssl098, which comes up in a pacman message as being needed to use Google's build in flash support.
Firefox does work... and I'm trying to find out why. Obviously I don't have quicktime installed on my machine anywhere, so it can't actually be a quicktime issue since Firefox doesn't have it either.
Any suggestions? I tend to use Chromium, and while opening Firefox to check messages isn't a huge deal, it's obviously not preferred.

I'm extremely sorry to confirm that I do know the story behind 'gecko-mediaplayer' and that it works quite well with Google Chrome (of course, it is listed among its plugins)...
    Edit: ad rem the OP:
jwhendy wrote:Does my flash plugin version matter? Should `flashplugin` be any different than `pepper-flash-plugin-stable`?
Were I you, I'd decide whether to use libflashplayer.so or libpepflashplayer.so. I disabled the first one in Google Chrome, so I guess you may do so as well.
As for the QuickTime based voice mail, I believe that it may work if only the above mentioned plugin works. If you have Google Chrome v. 21.0.1180.89, go and check if any trailer @ iTunes is playable for you (I've just checked again and for me it is, both audio and video, just as it was yesterday).

  • Chromium-dev build error

I've been trying to figure out what's going wrong when I attempt to build Chromium-dev. I keep getting the same error:
    make: *** [out/Release/obj/gen/tc_newlib/lib32/libgles2_implementation_untrusted.a] Error 1
I haven't seen anyone else post about this, so I'm guessing it's a problem on my end.  If someone has an idea how to remedy this error I'd be appreciative.
I'm using Yaourt if that is at all relevant.

When I just use pkgbuild to build chromium-dev my computer locks up, oddly enough.
Using packer it again failed. I believe this is the error you were looking for?

  • On certain sites, some lines have the lower half missing. Changing the font or its size does not help. The error does not appear with Iceape or Chromium.

On some sites certain lines appear with the bottom half missing, as if obliterated. Changing the font or its size does not help. The error does not appear with Iceape or Chromium.

I looks that the whole line doesn't fit in the container, so the bottom part is cut off. The usual cause is that a font is used that takes more vertical space, so any increase or changes from the font in what the website prescribes can cause this issue. I've seen web pages that were even affected by changing the minimum font size from none to 1 (!). If you do not have the font installed that the website specifies then Firefox will fallback to another (default) font that may have different dimensions.

  • Chromium malloc error??

I try to start chromium, it opens for 2 seconds, then crashes and in terminal there is only this error

    with superuser chromium runs fine.
Tried to delete .config, and any other file catfish could find before trying reinstalling it again, but nothing works.

I've started receiving the same error messages since installing Snow Leopard. It occurs 50% of the time when saving, opening, or browsing for files.
    I get this message:

& then the application crashes with this message:
