Cisco Pix 501 / DNS - DNS resolution stops working over time

Hello,
I currently have a Cisco Pix 501 with the configuration listed below. It connects to the public internet via a cable modem and acts as a DCHP server for the local LAN.
When it first turns on, all computers obtain the correct IP settings and can access the internet. Within 10-15 minutes, computers begin to loose access to the Internet. What’s strange is that each computer that lost Internet access can ping the remote address but cannot perform an nslookup. (it shows as Server UnKnown)
The DNS server is 167.206.254.2 which is the external dns server provided by my ISP. I can ping this address but the local computer is unable to use it for domain to ip resolution.
Then network used to have an existing Windows Small Business Server that was a DNS and WINS Server. I ran dcpromo to remove the role of the server and uninstalled dns via add/remove components.
Can someone please help me determine why the computers over time loose the ability to resolve domain names and therefore loose internet access? Can there be some bad DNS entries created? Is there anything I can run on the local computers to further troubleshoot dns errors? Is it possible that the existing Windows SBS server is still running DNS and therefore causing conficts in some way?
One thing to note is that when I reset the Pix 501, everything begins to work again but only for a short time until one by one each computer can no longer resolve domain names. Also, I noticed that once someone connects via VPN and disconnects, one of the local computers looses the ability to resolve DNS.

Wow...i didn't realize this was possible. I will certainly check the logs tomorrow via the existing thread but just to confirm, is this only true if DHCP is enabled on PIX?
In other words, I managed to work around this issue by applying static IP's to all computers and the internet works just fine.

on the concentrator I created a user pixtest, a group vpntest and I?ve created rules for the network e.g. to which server the users behind the pix will be able to access.
And that?s all.
I could not send you the output either of the pix or concentrator because I did not get an error or a message that the tunnel will be established.
What can be wrong ?

Amazon S3 Backup with Cisco PIX 501 Router - slowww

We are in the process of setting up an Amazon S3 network backup of the NAS server we have in our office. We are using a Synology NAS to backup to Amazon s3, and we use a Cisco PIX 501 to secure our network. The backup from the NAS to Amazon is going painfully slow, so I contacted Synology to resolve the issue. After they examined everything, they think the router is filtering outbound traffic, and this is causing the upload to slow down. I was told the upload should happen over HTTP and HTTPS, and I made sure these ports where open through the Access Rules. There are no rules defined in the Filter Settings.
I looked at the settings with the PDM, and I can't find where the filtering would be. Does someone have any insight to what could be happening? I'm not too familiar with the PIX or all the network settings involved.

Cisco Pix 501 - Need help with VPN passthrough

Currently I have a Cisco Pix 501 version 6.3(1) which is in front of my Windows Server 2008 box. I am fairly new to firewalling, especially with the Cisco Pix; I have been able to accomplish some port forwarding for CCTV camera software, etc. but am coming to a standstill attempting to connect a company laptop (Windows 7 Professional) to the server via VPN.
Previously we had another facility which was able to connect through VPN but it has since been removed (and always seemed to not be very stable to begin with - though it was connecting to a Server 2003 box rather than 2008).
I have been through several articles both here and other forums and have attempted several of the proposed fixes. I'm almost sure at this point I've probably opened up more of my firewall then necessary and may have duplicate information attempted to complete this passthrough. My Server 2008 resides at 192.168.1.15, below is what I have thus far. The "crypto map" sections were all completed long before I took over, I believe this is how the old VPN was set up. What I have added since beginning this endevour is the "fixup protocol pptp 1723", the "access-list" entries relating to both pptp and gre, and the "static (inside, outside)" relating to the pptp.
I am still continuously getting an error on the laptop of "800" whenever I try to connect to the VPN. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am rapidly losing hair attempting to get this situated.

Config looks good to me.
I would actually upgrade your PIX to the latest version of 6.3.x if you still have access to the software center as this PIX is on its EOL and you are running an extremely old version of code.
If you place your Windows server bypassing the PIX temporarily, I assume you are able to connect to the VPN?

IPSEC Tunnel between JUNIPER (SSG 20) and CISCO PIX 501

I have successfully established the IPSEC tunnel with juniper firewall by using cisco Pix 501 (6.3 version). The problem I am facing, I have network layer connectivity but after time interval I am not able to send the traffic on destination IP address on specific port, but can successfully PING the destination IP. On both firewalls the IPs are permitted for all ports.

I had that problem as well and the apple support suggested to turn off the LTE-mode to have a running system and try to exchange the micro-sim by my provider.
THAT was not an option!
BUT it seems to solve my problem in the following way after trying a lot of possibilties:
In the menue properties/help (don't know the exact english word, because I run my phone in german)
I switched on the nice feature 'flash LED' by incomming calls, msgs, and push infos.
Today the flash feature was responding to different push notes very slowly.
By switching this feature off the LTE-mode-tochscreen-not-responding-problem disappeared.
We tried this on a other iphone, not having the metioned problem, and switched the LED-flash:
the problem appeared. Switching the LED-flash off: problem disappeared!
It seems to be a bug that the LED will hint Calls and MSGs in combination with the LTE mode!
treated my phone very hard today to double check, but its still ok.

Please fix that issue in the next update.

I've checked your account, and nothing seems to be out of order with your Acrobat Pro subscription. Are you launching Acrobat on your desktop? If, for some reason, your subscription has reverted to trial mode, I would expect you'd be presented with the trial dialog box. From that dialog box, you should be able to click License this Software, and then sign in with your Adobe ID and password. If that's not the case, please let us know.

If that still does not solve it, check, if the contact you are trying to add is problematic. Try to save a different contact. Does that work?
If not, reinstall the Contacts app. This is only possible by restoring your iPhone, unfortunately.

Hello all,
I am trying to get the following to work. We have an intranet page which users need to connect to, to operate some machines. This is done through an windows 8.1 Tablet with an assigned KIOSK mode app (Kios SP Browser).
This works great as the assigned app is the only thing the user can run and we don't have to really harden the device. One drawback in using the assigned apps is that it needs to be an New App (as Microsoft call it)
The app is installed on an reference machine which runs in workgroup mode (no domain connection is needed on the devices) and after the reference machine is installed it is imaged with the use of Acronis. After deployment the tablet has no connection to
internet and the intranet page is wireless put available to the tablets. As a side note, the tablet operates with local accounts and the app is installed using an corporate hotmail account we created just for this purpose.
I now deployed the image over 20 different tablet devices and this worked great until recently a few devices start to complain it needs to connect to the windows shop before the app can be started. As the devices don't have internet access this can't be
done and the tablet is rendered useless for the user.
How can i make the app available without internet connection ? and how can i be sure the app will continue to work over time without connection to the store ?

I can't unblock the internet connection as the wireless network doesn't have any internet connection what so ever. The main purpose is to be able to operate the machinery and nothing else, hence the kios app which is being used to show the intranet page
which connects than to the devices.
The problem is that after imaging the app works as expected but after a few days the app stops to work ...
I found the following website over site loading an app without the needed appx files. It shows an way to capture the files during installation from the windows store.

It is a bit strange to have it this difficult to install apps without the needed store and i think that Microsoft should make this easier. I hope this works better and after a few days i will give the feedback how this handles..

My lenovo G505s shuts down suddenly and key board stops working at times

I have bought this laptop 10 days ago, I am facing two problems 1st is, it shuts down(suddenly off not proper shut down) while working without showing any error message, and the problem no 2 is its key board stops working at times, system is working fine but all the buttons of key board are not responding. it will work when I restart the system.
please help what should I do, could it be replaced?

Sorry to hear of your problems. I would suggest that you try a reset of the BIOS just to rule out any hardware conflicts the system may have. Try this........
1. Unplug the charger / adapter.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds.
4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.
If the problems weren't resolved by doing the reset then I suggest you contact Lenovo Support for warranty service. Both the problems you mentioned could be related to faulty hardware and the service center would be best equipped to check out your new laptop. Why does my safari stops working every time I try to swipe back to previous page

My safari stops working every time I try to swipe (multitouch) back to previous page? There's no spinning beach ball or anything, but the page just stops responding altogether. If I close the non-responding page fast enough the other pages remain fine, but if I just leave the non-reponding page as it is the entire app become non-reponsive and need to be forced quite. I'm running OS X 10.9.1 on a late 2012 MacBook Pro Ret. Anyone having the same prob?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Ok actually my mistake it says "an error occurred during activation. try again" I spoke with apple tech support right now and she mentioned they are having trouble with there servers. Do you by any chance know what the restrictions area means? Should that be activated or deactivated, does that make a difference?

My iPhone has stopped working over wifi. It was working till late night yesterday and in monring it stopped. I thought that it may be problem in my internet. But noticed that it doesn't work with office wifi as well. Have done some of the reset option.

"Itunes has stopped working" every time

So recently I have been using itunes and a moment after it loads up I am faced with the window "itunes has stopped working", every time. I have tried doing stuff with QTmoviewin.dll, messed around with QuickTime, deleted anything that may conflict with Itunes (including bonjour). I have turned the internet off and ran it, but to no avail. I have literally tried every trick in the book, looked on all the forums and nothing seems to be working. The crash always happens when I open it, the bar at the top seems to be downloading something, gets to Never Gonna Give You Up and says "Determining Audio Volume". Then it crashes. And I can't get to it quick enough to stop it. So I really need some answers, but I would like to keep uninstalling as a very last option. And try not to refer me to another thread because I have seen nearly every one. Please help me. Thank you.

Share from where, iPhoto? How many photos are in the slideshow? How much free space do you have on your boot drive?
Try this basic troubleshooting fix :
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete IDVD'S cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.
