Cisco SCE 2020 and SNMP
I am trying to figure out how to retrieve the output of the comannd "show party all-names" via SNMP.
Does anybody have some suggested OID strings I could try?

Hi Olaf,
The lwapp APs are not snmp-manageable but the controllers takes care of that. You can poll the WLC via SNMP and it will give you the radio status of all the APs.
I suggest using the Cisco MIB browser tool to find out more about the AIRESPACE mib that the WLC is using.

Cisco Threat Responder and SNMP
Any one with experience with CTR sending alerts to a SNMP Mgmt Center ? I have tried to send to Tivoli with not much luck in terms of formatted alerts (yes, mib loaded) as well as too much information (ie: not filtered to just critical alerts) being sent.
I havent seen this with CTR. However SNMP traps, as-well-as events can be generated with IPS 5.0.

Cisco WCS integration with SNMP based monitoring
I am looking for a solution to integrate Cisco WCS with any SNMP based monitoring solution. My requirement is below,
- Alerts for Access points up/down should be picked up by an alerting system in its console through SNMP.
- I dont want all access points to be monitored, but only a critical group.
Currently all access points are configured on LWAP mode under a wireless controller. Can i configure APs individually for SNMP and get it monitored through the 3rd party monitoring tool.
Can anyone please guide me to find a solution for this.http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/mse/3350/6.0/CAS/configuration/guide/msecg_ch2_CAS.html

SCOM SP1 Groups, Classes and SNMP
I've been working on a management pack using some of the examples on the net (Kristopher Bash from the operating-quadrantin has been a huge inspiration) to monitor an Isilon cluster. This had lead me to a number of interesting challenges to over come since I have to design this within the confines of SP1 and I have a unique networking to device configuration.
Device Overview:
The Isilon cluster itself is a number of FreeBSD systems (nodes) joined together via and infiniband backend to create a single NAS. While normally this would not be an issue, network connectivity to the device and SNMP response from the cluster have been. In my configuration I have a total of 8 nodes each node has 2 network interfaces. Of these 16 network interfaces only 2 are accessible/on the same network as my RMS (em1 node2, em1 node4).
Device SNMP Design:
While the cluster is highly dynamic the SNMP sub-systems are not. The MIB created by Isilon does not join the whole of the cluster into an index for SNMP polling. I can only poll a single nodes OID's. To over come this limitation Isilon implemented SNMP-Proxy or comtosec within the system. This allowed me to poll node 3 by changing the community name for the OID I was polling from the discovered name to <discoveredname>_node_3.
MP Design:
Now I'm not the best at MP design since I rarely work within SCOM so don't laugh too hard... I reused items from Kristopher's Cisco MP and created a number of classes for discovery and item hosting. To address the limitation I found within SCOM for dynamic discovery and 1 IP address 1 Community Name, I created a class property within the root called ConfiguredNodes. I can poll the Isilon an populate this value (8). Then I created a sub-class property value called NodeCommStr to fill in all the custom community names I generate using a VB script with Base64 encode/decode, the discovery community name and the ConfiguredNodes value, in the data source for sub-class discovery. public_node_1 public_node_2 etc...
All in all this is working well however I have run into a few design roadblocks and I have some questions.
1. When I discover a set of items within the Isilon cluster the health explorer is not sorting this information alphabetically. Is there a value I can include in the dependency roll-up to correct this?
2. I have run into an issue with the Isilon MIB and I'm looking for the best way to overcome the MIB's design. They included a fan table with fan information and speed of the fans however there is no status (success{0}, warning{1}, error{2}). I created a monitor type to compensate for this and included overrides for the warning and critical event points. This is where I found the curve ball, seems that the fans are not the same.... There are 2 sets of fans - Chassis and Power Supply - and they have different thresholds *rolls eyes*. Some I'm asking for the best design advice, should I create 2 classes, discoveries, monitor types, etc.? Or can I address this issue by creating 2 monitor types with a string filter?
3. I've been successful in creating this MP and displaying the information as a single device however I was wondering if there was a way to create dynamic groups with sub groups. This would have to be 100% dynamic since I can add a 9th 10th 192nd (yes 192) node to the cluster.
Cluster
-ClusterNode1
-ClusterNode1Power
-ClusterNode1Fans
-etc
The information is there in the NodeCommStr, I'm just in brain lock on how to design it right now.
Again, code is raw and a work in progress so please no giggling. Oh this is a multi post... Code is too long.

Hi!
Cisco SCE 8000 working normally while traffic through it not pass. When i connect optical links and start passing traffic throught cisco, i have a problem. SCE watchdog run software reboot with error:

In debug file i found:
Interrupt Received from: SimbaDPT[0].Tx[0].CTX_ISR.ECCMultiErrorInt - description: RLDRAM ECC multi bit error interrupt.
What the problem could be?I have tried 3.7.2, 3.8.5, 4.0.0. Unfortunately, the result is the same. I think that hardware problem (RAM).

Cisco 877W router and external ADSL modem
Cisco 877W router and external ADSL modem
In order to support ADSL2+ on a pre ADSL2+ router and in preparation for a later migration to BT infinity I am trying to configure the Router using an external adsl2+ modem appropriately.
The original configuration had 3 ports configured as one (internal lan) vlan and bridge group together with one wireless sub-interface, the remaining port configured a second vlan and bridge group with a second wireless sub- interface. The Dialer was a member of the second bridge group. This way the second wireless interface and associated bridge group provided a kind of DMZ for outbound access.
The configuration I am attempting is similar the lan ports remain the same, but port 0 as a member of the vlan and bridge group (now a pppoe client) associated with one of the wireless sub interfaces as per above. The ATM interface is downed. This nearly works except that if the wireless subinterface on this bridge group is configured the dialer no longer dials giving a 'no dialer string' error. If I do not configure that wireless sub interface all works well.
If anyone is interested to look I would appreciate any comments. I enclose a sanitised config in which you will note the 'commented out' wireless subnet interface (in red).

endHi Jody,
Apologies delay in replying. I have done the following:
Made two of the FE ports vlan1,BVI1 (for LAN traffic)
Left one port as VLAN10 as the pppoe client conected to the externalmodem
Made the last port VLAN10 as well and gave it an IP addess as for a DMZ client.
I have DHCP configured to serve the DMZ addresses.
This all works for LAN clients and also works for a client attachedto that physical DMZ port.
When I added a dot11radio sub interface into VLAN 10 the wireless client did not get an IP lease. Everything else continued to work.
I had never thought about this before, but if a dot11radio interface is on the same vlan (but not being part ofa bridge group) why are DHCP broadcasts not propogating to all the vlan members as I would have expected. I recognise that this isa limit in my understanding.
If I then made VLAN10 a member of a new Bridge Group, I lost WAN connectivity as per original posting.
I cannot add another VLAN due to the 2 vlan limit in this image.
Finally regarding your comment about giving it what it wants, what exactly did you have in mind. The dialer already has a dial string parameters configured.
Think I am about to give upon this.

I have a 3750 cluster and I want to know what are the recommended snmp traps to be sent. We definitely want to know when one of the switches in the cluster fails.
I've read about snmp-server enable traps stackwise and snmp-server enable traps cluster. What do these traps actually do?stackwise would be useful, here's a description:
http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?objectInput=ciscoStackWiseMIB&translate=Translate&submitValue=SUBMIT
also have a look at:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.1/13ew/command/reference/S1.html#wp1126420 -
Before I purchased the E3200 yesterday, I contacted Cisco Sales support and asked specific question about SNMP support on E3200. I was told that E3200 does supports SNMP.. However, I do not find any setup / nor any documentation on how to. Does anyone know If E3200 supports SNMP? I would like to monitor my router using SNMP traps..
Thanks in advance..Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an "Internet-standard protocol for managing devices on IP networks. Devices that typically support SNMP include routers, switches, servers, workstations, printers, modem racks, and more.” It is used mostly in network management systems to monitor network-attached devices for conditions that warrant administrative attention. SNMP is a component of the Internet Protocol Suite as defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). It consists of a set of standards for network management, including an application layer protocol, a database schema, and a set of data objects.
So on that basis you can refer to a link whether it works better or not...

SF300/SG300 and SNMP Traps
Hello,
as mentioned in the documentation, the SF300/SG300 series switches are capable of sending SNMP-Traps.
What kind of SNMP traps are they sending? I need "Link Up / Link Down" Traps. Do the switches send such traps or is it possible to configure these switches to send them?
Thanks a lot,
MarcoHi,
Here is a link to the Data Sheet on the 300's:

It states that SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3 with support for traps, and SNMP version 3 user-based security model (USM)
So you should be able to configure "Link Up / Link Down" Traps. See chapter 19 Configuring SNMP:

Hi community,
I am trying to integrate Cisco Unified Presence 8.6.1.10000-34 with IBM Lotus Notes 8.5.2 with the integrated Sametime Client version 8.0.2 via the Cisco Plugins 8.6.1.1185.
Phone control is working fine, whereas the presence status is not shown (= no handset symbol next to the Sametime user). When I look in the preferences of the plugin, I can see that the plugin has connected successfully to the CUCM (8.6.2.20000-2),whereas the connection to the CUPS has not been established.
The user id as well as the password are all the same on all systems. Here is a description of what I have configured via the ciscocfg.exe tool:
Feature Control:
- Enable Phone Status -> checked
- Enable Dial Using Cisco IP Communicator -> unchecked (not required)
- Enable Control Desk Phone -> checked
- Default Mode -> Control Desk Phone
Control Desk Phone Settings:
- Voicemail Pilot Number -> left blank (no voicemail)
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager
- Servers -> IP address of CUCM
- Read Only -> unchecked
- Use as Default CUCM -> checked
- Synchronize Credentials -> checked
- Use Sametime Credentials -> checked
Use Secure Connection: -> not required
LDAP Phone Attributes: -> not required
Phone Status Settings:
- Cisco Unified Presence Servers -> IP address of CUPS
- Read Only -> unchecked
- Synchronize Credentials -> checked
- Use Sametime Credentials -> checked
- Sametime User ID Mapping
- Use Business Card Attribute -> MailAddress
- Remove Domain -> checked
- Display Off-Hook Status Only -> unchecked
At the moment I don't see an error in the configuration, but maybe I am wrong. Could anyone please tell me what the error could be?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Kind regards,
IgorHi all,
here are some additions to my above post:
Servers and clients used:
1x CUCM 8.6.2.20000-2
1x CUPS 8.6.1.10000-34
1x IBM Lotus Domino Messaging Express Server 8.5.2
1x Sametime Entry Server 8.5.2 (on top of the Domino server)
2x IBM Lotus Notes 8.5.2 with integrated Sametime 8.0.2
2x Cisco Phone Control and Presence with Lotus Sametime (PCAP) 8.6.1.1185
2x Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 8.5.5.19839
Setup:
- CUCM, CUPS and CUPC are working fine, i.e. Desk Phone control via CUPC, as well as availability and presence status are working without issues
- IBM Lotus Domino server is the LDAP Directory, the Sametime Entry Server is installed on top of the Domino server and uses the Domino Directory
- User ID and password on CUCM/CUPS match the ShortName field and password in Domino
- The PCAP plug-in has been manually deployed to both Notes clients with the following configuration:
- Enable Phone Status -> active
- Desk Phone Control -> active
- no credential synchronization for CUCM and CUPS, i.e. every user must fill the user details himself
- Sametime User ID Mapping is implemented via the LDAP Attribute uid (which is equal to the user id in CUCM)
- LDAP configuration filled in with details of the Domino server
Phone Control is working fine, also the connection to the LDAP server (Domino) is fine. However, when I type in the credentials for the CUPS server login, I can see (in Troubleshooting pane) that the user (pparker) is connected to the CUPS server for a short period of time and then gets disconnected. After that no connection is possible to the CUPS server, i.e. status is always disconnected.
I have collected the Tomcat (EPASSoap00010.log and security00010.log) logs via RTMT and compared them to the logs from the PCAP plugin. The relevant time period is from 15:14 to 15:17. In the Tomcat logs I can see that the authentication is successful (see attached files), however in the log of PCAP plugin I can see the following messages:
2012/02/03 15:14:35.281 WARNUNG Credential is rejected. Nothing to retry ::class.method=com.cisco.sametime.phonestatus.cup.CUPPresenceWatcher.answerChallenge() ::thread=CT_CALLBACK.1 ::loggername=com.cisco.sametime.phonestatus.cup

I don't understand why the connection is rejected although the Sametime Internal ID and CUPS User ID match. Does anyone know what the issue could be?
All posts are very much appreciated!
Thanks a lot in advance!
Kind regards,

Boot camp with Cisco VPN client and smart card
Looking at a Macbook or Macbook Air and the only reason I need to run windows is to be able to access my work network through the Cisco VPN client and my Smartcard then use remote desktop. From my understanding if I run Bootcamp it should work am I correct? Im going to an Apple store tomorrow hopefully they can help too.
Thanksmrbacklash wrote:
Ok with that being said will the MBA 11.6 1.4ghz have the guts to make it run mostly internet based programs over the VPN connection?
I think if you are running apps over the Internet the bottleneck will be the Internet and your VPN bandwidth. Your computer can certainly execute faster than Internet communications.
Besides, Internet or remote applications run on the remote server. All your local computer does is local processing of the data if necessary.

Cisco VPN Client and Mac OS 10.5.1 update
After upgrading to Leopard (10.5) my Cisco VNP client stopped working. I was able to fix that by downloading the newer VPN Client 4.9.01 (0080) from the Macupdate.com website. Now that I've updated to Mac OS 10.5.1, the VPN Client won't work again!! I went back to the Macupdate website and downloaded what looks like an even newer version - 4.9.01 (0090) - but this is labeled as a BETA and it doesn't work either. Anyone out there seen a newer version, or something that works with 10.5.1?
b166er wrote:
Aside from the fact that it's marked beta, I'm wary about the source of MacUpdate's download. They link to http://www.arrange.co.at/download/vpnclient-darwin-4.9.01.0090-universal-k9-BETA .dmg
Cisco don't ever make the client freely available. The official download is via form on the Cisco web site and you need appropriate credentials. I wouldn't risk installing from any other source.
The home page at http://www.arrange.co.at/ doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
Dude has a point... it's risky to mess with something like this from an untrusted source IMHO. Cisco is picky about who they give it out to. I have to get mine through my host provider since they are the ones that are authorized.
For what it's worth, I'm using 4.9.01 with 10.5.1 and it works well. -

Problem with Cisco 861W router and outgoing VPN
We have a Cisco 861W router that is blocking an outgoing PPTP on the internal access point only. The outgoing VPN works when the traffic is through a wired connection or the connection is on another access point. We fail to make a connection only when connection to the 861W's internal Access Point.

Cisco Configuration Professional (Cisco CP) is installed on this device
and it provides the default username "cisco" for one-time use. If you have
already used the username "cisco" to login to the router and your IOS image
supports the "one-time" user option, then this username has already expired.
You will not be able to login to the router with this username after you exit
this session.
It is strongly suggested that you create a new username with a privilege level
of 15 using the following command.
username <myuser> privilege 15 secret 0 <mypassword>
Replace <myuser> and <mypassword> with the username and password you
want to use.
