Cisco Works Access Levels

I was wondering if anyone could maybe point me to where it states that access levels cisco works needs. We have some core switches that we only want cisco works to store log and configuration settings, but not necessarily allow it to access to change these. Any ideas? or any documentation anyone can point me to?
Thanks
AJ

AJ,
So you want Ciscoworks to store syslog messages and device configurations?  Not the settings?
For Ciscoworks to be able to retrieve and store the device configurations, the server will need at least SNMP ReadOnly-ReadWrite access to pull the configs from the devices via an snmp set using tftp.  The only other way Ciscoworks can pull configs is through telnet or ssh where it needs access to the enable prompt to get the configs.
For Syslog, as long as RME can classify the type of Cisco device and knows what kind fo device it is syslog messages will be stored in RME.
Again, these answers apply to the clarification question I first stated.

    How do we get Cisco to fix?

  • My wireless internet was blocked by CISCO guest access

    My internet service was from AT&T and now it was changed to Timer Warner. But one problem appears every 1 or 2 months. After I click SAFARI, the menu shows:
    CISCO GUEST ACCESS
    Enter the guest access password to access the internet. Ask the owner if you
    don't know the password. The Guest access password can be found using CISCO
    connection.
    My internet has no relationship with CISCO at all, why it appears? Usually it will last for several days then it will disappear. During the several days, I cannot use this Mac to access internet!
    Does anyone know how to solve the problem? Thanks a lot.

    Check the Wi-Fi menu to make sure you're connected to your own network, not someone else's. If you are, see below.
    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
    You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
    In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
    You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
    Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
    You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
            Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
            Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
            The results are on the Clipboard.
            Please close this window.
    [Process completed]
    The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
    Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it. Then go to the next step.
    12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I may not agree with them.

  • How to change lookup code  with Access Level as 'System'

    Hi,
    I need to append new lookup codes in a lookup type having access level as 'SYSTEM'. Is there any standard way to do the same or just updating the customization level column will do ? Please let me know if you have any solution for this.
    Regards
    Girish

    You can also change the meaning on that value to something like "*** DO NOT USE***". This will make it obvious to the user that he/she should not choose it.
    You can try to add a when-validate-record personalization to show error if someone selected a disabled value.
    You can also try to modify the list of values associated with the field using personalizations.
    If nothing else works, you can use a SQL to uncheck the enabled flag. The risks involved in this are well known.
    Hope this answers your question

  • Restrict certain function based on access level

    I'm working through an approval process with Office 365 SharePoint Lists and Infopath, and I want certain people to be able to submit items in a Sharepoint list on behalf of someone else. So, the boss might have her assistant post news for her,
    but her name will be on it. I only want certain people with a higher access level to be able to do this. Most people will just be able to submit news on their own behalf. I'm not sure how to do this other than to actually have a separate list that only certain
    people can access to support this one function.
    Currently I have lists for...
    Draft Items
    Submitted Items
    Published Items
    and I might create a fourth one for "Drafts Items on behalf of." Can you think of a better way than to actually create a fourth list?

    Hi  ,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to three permission level for a list: unable submit and unable approval, able submit and unable approval, able submit and able approval.
    If you just want to restrict  for a list, you can try to stop inheriting permissions for the list.
    For the above permission level, it can be reflected to the SharePoint default permission level: read, edit, approve. So for achieving your demand, you can add the users  into  suitable permission
    group (Site Visitors, Site Members, Approvers).
    Then you can go to the list ->List Settings ->Versioning Settings, select “Yes” for Require content approval for submitted items.

  • Access levels in dreamweaver cs4

    Hi,
    I have been playing around with dreamweaver cs4 using the tutorials and videos i have thanks to you guys.
    I created a simple login mysql database and used the login features within dreamweaver cs4 which was great and so simple.
    I have came across login to a secured site so many times over the past few years pulling down sample asp with access scripts and never getting it right.worked first time no problem.
    however what i do also get asked is access level security for a secured area. i noticed in the login objects properties there was an option "secure page and get access level from database table" however what i want to be able to do is have it so an admin would see all contacts in the database but the individual agents only have access to their own assigned contacts.
    i would be greatful anyone could point me in right direction from within dreamweaver to do this, also not sure how i would setup the table in mysql to reflect this?
    any pointers or help would be greatly appreciated.
    many thanks

  • Problem with user access level

    David,
    I have so far succesfully implementend your tutorial on users registering and having to validate their emailaddress (both part I and II).
    Part I: http://cookbooks.adobe.com/post_Registration_system_that_requires_the_user_to_vali-16646.h tml
    Part II: http://cookbooks.adobe.com/post_Registration_system_that_requires_the_user_to_vali-16649.h tml
    When creating a login form however, I don't get it to work based on the access level verified = y. The database is set up exactly as you described in the above tutorials.
    This is the HTML for the log in form (index.php):
    <form ACTION="<?php echo $loginFormAction; ?>" method="POST" id="logon">
    <label for="user">Username</label>
    <input type="text" id="user" name="username" />
    <br />
    <label for="pass">Password</label>
    <input type="password" id="pass" name="password" />
    <br />
    <label for="done"> </label>
    <input type="submit" value="Log On" />
    </form>
    Below the code that is found above the <html> tag in the index.php file:
    <?php require_once('../Connections/conn.php'); ?>
    <?php
    if (!function_exists("GetSQLValueString")) {
    function GetSQLValueString($theValue, $theType, $theDefinedValue = "", $theNotDefinedValue = "")
      if (PHP_VERSION < 6) {
        $theValue = get_magic_quotes_gpc() ? stripslashes($theValue) : $theValue;
      $theValue = function_exists("mysql_real_escape_string") ? mysql_real_escape_string($theValue) : mysql_escape_string($theValue);
      switch ($theType) {

          break;
        case "long":

          break;

          break;
        case "defined":
          $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? $theDefinedValue : $theNotDefinedValue;

    On the overview.php page, I applied the restrict access to page behaviour, which results in the following code:

      // Therefore, we know that a user is NOT logged in if that Session variable is blank.
      if (!empty($UserName)) {
        // Besides being logged in, you may restrict access to only certain users based on an ID established when they login.
        // Parse the strings into arrays.
        $arrUsers = Explode(",", $strUsers);
        $arrGroups = Explode(",", $strGroups);
        if (in_array($UserName, $arrUsers)) {
          $isValid = true;
        // Or, you may restrict access to only certain users based on their username.
        if (in_array($UserGroup, $arrGroups)) {
          $isValid = true;
        if (($strUsers == "") && false) {
          $isValid = true;
      return $isValid;
    $MM_restrictGoTo = "index.php";
    if (!((isset($_SESSION['MM_Username'])) && (isAuthorized("",$MM_authorizedUsers, $_SESSION['MM_Username'], $_SESSION['MM_UserGroup'])))) {
      $MM_qsChar = "?";
      $MM_referrer = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'];
      if (strpos($MM_restrictGoTo, "?")) $MM_qsChar = "&";
      if (isset($QUERY_STRING) && strlen($QUERY_STRING) > 0)
      $MM_referrer .= "?" . $QUERY_STRING;
      $MM_restrictGoTo = $MM_restrictGoTo. $MM_qsChar . "accesscheck=" . urlencode($MM_referrer);
      header("Location: ". $MM_restrictGoTo);
      exit;
    ?>
    Any idea/thoughts on what I'm not adding to the page in order to work?

    David,
    Thank you for that insight, I figured it would be something like that and when I woke up this morning, it all made sense. I changed somthing from the tutorial (part I) you wrote and now it works fine.
    I had trouble with the validation link in the email that is sent automatically. In your tutorial, section "generating and sending the validation email", you write:
    $message .= urlencode($_POST['username']);
    $message .= '&amp;t=';
    $message .= urlencode($token);
    When using the code like this, it wouldn't set the verified column to y. However, when I changed the middle $message to
    $message .= '&t=';
    it updated the verified column to y. The URL that displayed from the original code displayed the & sign as &amp; in the URL itself.
    Next to that, whenever I try to add something to the e-mail, the validation link becomes not clickable anymore.
    As the login problem concerns, encrypting indeed did the trick.
    if (isset($_POST['username'])) {
      $loginUsername=$_POST['username'];
      $password=sha1($_POST['password']);
    Putting the $_POST['password'] between brackets, adding sha1 in front of it. It works just fine now.
    Hopefully no further problems on this anymore! Thanks a lot for your insights!

  • Security and access levels

    I have created 4 users access levels, however, when I try to implement, when I keep inheritence, default security keeps coming up,   e.g. try changing everyone to my new access level and I get the new access level, but I also get view (inherited) - how can I "clean out" the old security settings??

    Sorry for the delay!
    OK, here's our situation - it's pretty straight forward;
    1500 users
    1500 (all) users in Everyone
    Of the 1500 users in Everyone;
    1200 in subgroup A
    200 in subgroup B
    90 in subgroup C
    10 users in Administrators
    4 universes
    1 connection
    Goal:
    Everyone and subgroups, same as admin, exception: can't delete or save to "corp" doc's.  My thought is to use same access level, then use the advanced configuration on the folders to prevent everyone from deleting any "corp docs"
    I have applied this access level to everyone and admin at;
    application > infoview, webi. cmc, deski, discussions, search
    universes > all 4
    connections > the 1
    folders > root folder,  level 1, denied access to everyone accordingly on level 2
    I have also added this access level to the top level security for users and groups
    Issues;
    1. When I check the access level for everyone on folders, level 1 and below, I get the custom access level as inherited, but also view aslo as inherited.
    2. The users added to the admin group do not have same rights as the "administrator - for example, administrator can delete objects in the folders, but other users (within admin group) can not?  if I manually add the users to the folders, I can get this to work,  but doesn;t make sense, why would a user within a group have different rights, than any other user within the same group, with the same rights???
    Hope this helps!

  • Problem with Restrict Access to Page with access level using ASP

    I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 with ASP-VBScript and an Access
    database. The pages were created from scratch for this project,
    using those tools all the way through.
    I've created a login page, an admin homepage, and add, edit,
    and list records pages for three tables. The login page uses the
    Server Behavior "Log in User", all other pages use the Server
    Behavior "Restrict Access to Page". All of these are based on an
    Access Level.
    Login seems to work correctly, and redirects to the admin
    homepage. From the admin homepage, I can open any other page as
    expected, and they initially display correctly. On the add and edit
    pages, however,
    submitting the form often results in getting logged out, but
    not always.
    Once this happens, I can log back in, but other problems will
    sometimes occur during that second login session. Sometimes,
    logouts will occur on pages that worked fine during the first login
    session. Sometimes, another session variable that I've setup
    manually will change when it shouldn't...as if there were two
    values stored for my session variable, and reloading the page
    changes to the other value.
    This
    post seems closest to my experience, but it doesn't look like
    there was really an answer beyond "I had to fight with it for a bit
    to get it to work":
    I suspected that there is some problem with session settings
    on the server. We have an almost identical tool on the same server
    that was developed with an older version of DW that works more
    reliably; it sometimes has problems with the initial login, but
    never has a problem after that.
    Has anyone experienced problems like this? Any suggestions
    for what to check? I'm really pulling my hair out since it's so
    unreliable...the kind of problem that goes away when you try to
    show someone and comes back when they leave.

    Hello,
    I was thinking that all I would need would be the username, although username and paswsword would be more secure.  There are about 50 users and no groups or levels.  They are all equal ... same level.
    The website is private and there is a general content area for all users and then there will be private areas for each user where proprietary documents will be held.  I need to be able to ensure that user 'A' can only see the user 'A' pages, user 'B' can only see user 'B', etc.
    I don't really understand what the Dreamweaver script is doing, but the overview sounded like it was the right tool to accomplish what I'm trying to do.
    Any assistance greatly appreciated.
    thanks.

    Hi,
    I hope you can help - can't find an answer to this one. Been

    1) Using DW 8.0, PHP 4.4.7, MySQL 4.1.22
    2) Set up log in page, everything works if the LogIn Server

  • Run-time error '7': Out of memory - Cisco Clean Access problem

    Hi all,
    I hope this question is in the appropriate place. I'm trying to use my company's vpn service. Here's how the process should work:
    1) Log on with username/password using Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client
    2) Log-in to the portal. During this step the Cisco Clean Access Agent is supposed to automatically log-in. However I get the following error:
    Run-time error '7':
    Out of memory
    My company's network services didn't seem to be much of a help so I was hoping one of you would have a good suggestion(s).
    Please keep in mind that I'm not great with computers. I know how to use them and all that but I'm not familiar with the inner-workings at all (registry editing etc.)
    Thanks in advance!
    -Bill

    I should add that the version of CCA is 4.1.10

  • Multiple Access Levels per User

    In a site I'm building, I need the ability to allow an administrator to intuitively assign different access levels to different users. There may ultimately be roughly 25 different pages to which a user may be granted access. One user may have access to section/page levels 1, 4, 5, 7 and 21. Another user may get access to 2, 3, 4, 17, 19 and 24, etc. While this is possible under the existing ADDT user login system by creating a separate access value that includes only the permissible pages (access level 1 could get to page 1, 4, 5, 7 and 21; access level 2 could only get to pages 2, 3, 4, 17, 19 and 24) it becomes impractical for the administrator since the developer (me) would have to come up with an access value and corresponding permissible pages for every possible combination. Every time a new combination was needed, my client would have to contact me to add that access integer and modify all the corresponding sections/pages that the user could access.
    The ideal solution IMHO in this scenario would be for the administrator to simply be able to select or deselect a checkbox at will for each page to which the user is granted access (this is actually the scenario to which another of my feature request post refers:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b75119
    In searching the old InterAKT forums, I came across a post in which this exact scenario was requested. The user and Ionut came up with a solution which I was able to modify to enable the system I describe above. Rather than repeating the solution, here is a link to that post:
    http://www.interaktonline.com/Products/Dreamweaver-Extensions/MXUserLogin/Product-Forum/De tails/110205/Access+level+based+on+pages.html
    While it appears this solution will work for me, it took me quite a while to find it, and even longer to understand it.
    So, that's my feature request: The ability for an administrator to easily assign any combination of pages to which a user is granted access, preferably with a set of checkboxes.
    Thanks!

    This is functioning now.  With 9.0 you simply use a forward slash between device IDs.
    [device ID #1]/[device ID #2]
    Put this information in the "Mobile Device ID" field on the user form.
    It also has been verified with 8.82 PL15-16, but I don't know how far back it goes.

    Hi again
    Well, here's the way it may work for a compiled .CHM setup.
    If you are using compiled .CHM files, I'm guessing your software is
    modular. Meaning that at the time it is installed, the user has
    options of choosing between the following modules:
    Module 1
    Module 2 - 9
    Module 10
    In this setup, you would create help that is generic that all
    modules would need. That one would be the Master. Then you would
    create separate projects for the remaining modules. You would then
    provide it all to the person that handles the installation program
    for your application. That person would then handle configuring the
    installer application so that only help for the actually installed
    modules is installed. If a module has been excluded, help is not
    installed for that module and doesn't appear and is not available
    to the user.
    Hopefully that makes sense to you. If not, ping back and I or
    someone else will take a stab at another explanation.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Multiple access level Webi Reports

    Hi,
    We have Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP2 FP2.4. Our problem is that we want to asign to the same user diferent levels of visualization for a webi report, but if we asign the security at application level (WebIntelligence) the access levels applies for all reports and if we assign the access level at folder level it doesn´t applied to the visualization of the report. Basically we want that a user see a WebiReport without refresh the data and the same user saw a diferent report in a diferent folder with the capability to do this action.
    Is this possible??
    Thanks a lot.

    Hello,
    I apologize for not replying earlier. I tried to reproduce what you mentioned. InfoView kept crashing on my end when I disable right-click.
    In any case, you mentioned that disabling right-click only works when applied on on the application level (for Webi). We can work with this itself.
    Again, for sake of simplicity, lets assume that we have only two access levels.
    1. Right_Click_Disabled
    2. Toolbar_Disabled
    Also, lets assume that a specific user requires the Right_Click_Disabled access level on Rep_1 in Folder_A and the Toolbar_Disabled access level on Rep_2 in Folder_A.
    For this, you'll need to create two groups. Lets call them Right_Click_Disabled_Grp and Toolbar_Disabled_Grp. Add the user to both groups. Also apply access level Right_Click_Disabled to Webi (application) for group Right_Click_Disabled_Grp (principal).
    Similarly, apply access level Toolbar_Disabled to Webi (application) for group Toolbar_Disabled_Grp (principal).
    Now, give both groups View access on Folder_A. So, the user will have the most restrictive access of the combination of ViewRight_Click_DisabledToolbar_Disabled for all Webi reports in Folder_A.
    Now, for Rep_1 in Folder_A, the user requires Right_Click_Disabled access. So, for Rep_1 in Folder_A, for principal Right_Click_Disabled_Grp, disable inheritance and give the group Right_Click_Disabled (access level) only for Rep_1. Similarly, for Rep_2 in Folder_A, the user requires Toolbar_Disabled access. Again, for Rep_2, for principal Toolbar_Disabled_Grp, disable inheritance and give the group Toolbar_Disabled (access level) only for Rep_2.
    Summary:
    Groups
    Right_Click_Disabled_Grp
    Toolbar_Disabled_Grp
    Access Levels
    Right_Click_Disabled
    Toolbar_Disabled
    Let me know if you have any questions.Also, note that I haven't tested this.
    Best.

  • Cisco Works LMS 3.1 Integration with ACS v5.2

    Hello Experts,
    our customer has a working integration with the Cisco Works LMS 3.1 and an ACS v3.3 as it is described in this document:

    Hi Florian,
    actually the ACS 5.2 is not supported in CS 3.2
    here is a list of the supported ACS servers under LMS 3.1
