Cl_gui_frontend_services= file_exist is not reading files from C drive

Hi experts ,
I am using the method 'cl_gui_frontend_services=>file_exist' to check whether a file exists in frontend machine or not. This method works fine and gives corerct result when i keep the file on desktop and provide the path of the files as parameter to the program but it is unable to check the existance of the same file if kept in C drive under folder program files e.g.(C:/Program files/Documware/Barcode.exe). Is this a limitation of the method or is due to some restriction/access permitions at system level that files could not be read from program files in C drive . kinldy provide your useful inputs if any one faced same issue and what is the solution for this problem .

PI sender communication channel not reading files from NFS directory

Hello,
I have a sender communication channel configured to read file from NFS directory which is on ECC server. A program in ECC generates the file and puts it on the ECC server in the output directory. PI sender communication channel is supposed to pickup this file and process it. If I give the NFS path as the source directory, I am getting error: Configured source directory '//Server/DIR/OUT' does not exist. I tried putting '
Server\DIR\OUT' too but same error. Do I have to add the NFS path of ECC into PI as logical path?
Any suggestions?

Hello Sangita,
Your ECC server is an external system, therefore you need to activate FTP service in that system and use the transport protocol FTP:

You can use NFS protocol when you have a local directory in XI server.

Can not read file from URL

I have this code for loadbitmap() function:
String s = getCodeBase()+sdir+sfile;
System.out.println("codeBase is=" + s);

InputStream fs = url.openStream();
BufferedInputStream bs = new BufferedInputStream(fs);
And the file is a .bmp file, so I go on decoding this etc. It works fine within VisualCafe.
When I created a virtual directory in IIS and run this applet from
http://localhost/ImageApplet/ImageApplet.html address:
I get in 1.3.1 Plug-in this error:
codeBase is=http://localhost/ImageApplet/duke/some1.BMP
Caught exception in loadbitmap!java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://localhost/ImageApplet/duke/some1.BMP
If a type this as address in browser, it shows the image.
Could any one tell me what I am doing wrong here?

You can try this, even though it is not supposed to be different from your original code:

I could understand a SecurityException but a FileNotFoundException... A FileNotFoundException... You are reading from a stream originating from a URL, not a file!!!

Reports server Cannot read files from mapped drive

Hi,
Am trying to run a report from a network mapped drive under WinNT 4.0 through report server.
I get "REP-0110 Error opening or reading file" error message. After looking up the help on error, I find:
1. The file being accessed does exist
2. The login account has full privileges
with the file/directory/drive in question.
If the report to be run is on a local drive,
everything is fine.
Can anyone help me asap.

hello,
there are multiple things to keep in mind :
1) if you are using a mapped drive :
mapped drives are on a per-user-basis. the reports-server-service is running as a system-service by default and will not have the same mapped drives as the logged on user. in fact it fill have NO drives mapped.
what you could do is to use the UNC-path like \\servername\share\filename to adress the file
2) problems with UNC
there are some known problems using UNC to access files on remote machines in some versions of reports. pls check with oracle support services in case this causes problems.

CS5.1 Not Opening Files from Hard Drive

I'm on a 2010 iMac with the lastest OS, and every time I try to open a RAW file from one of my external hard drives, I get an error messages that says "Could not complete your request because of a program error." If go to the file through the hard drive and then drag it to Photoshop, it opens up, but if I go to File>Open> and then choose my external drive.

i have the question posted over there too..
Interestingly - I reinstalled CS4. files open with no issue using CS4 as external editor.
Also - files open with no issue if PS Elements is used as the External editor.
Looks like the issue is with CS5.

Handbrake not reading dvd from optical drive

i am trying to rip a couple of dvds to my mac book using handbrake. everything was going fine for a while. then on one cd, it would start the scanning but would freeze. tried mac the ripper and had the same thing happen. ejected the disc, tried with a different one, with the same results. put in yet another one and it was not recognized by the computer at all. now the dvd's are being recognized, but still freezing in the scanning stage.

Playing but not copying file from other drive?

How can I play an audio file or a video off an external hard drive connected directly to my mac or accessed over a wireless network without the file being copied to the mac that it is being played on?

Turn off the option in iTunes to "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" in the iTunes -> Advanced -> General preferences). Then when you add the track to iTunes, it won't be copied to the internal drive.

Long hold on the document in mail and it should give you the open in... option, select adobe reader and the file is now saved locally for viewing even while offline.

Shooting photo's in RAW format crates pretty big files that will fill up the iPad's memory pretty fast if you shoot a lot during a (let's say) month long trip.
my idea was to use load the photo's to the iPad so i could view them and sort out any bad ones. then copy them over to the storage device so i can continue using my CF cards for shooting. I have an image thank for copying the photo's directly to the HDD but it would be so sweet to be able to check them on the iPad before hand.
any suggestions?

This is from the FileInputStream API documentation:
FileInputStream is meant for reading streams of raw bytes such as image data. For reading streams of characters, consider using FileReader.

Reading Files from an FTP location based on Timestamp

I have a requirement of reading files from an FTP location. The files should be read in the order they were saved in the folder. Can someone tell me how to solve this?

My requirement is to List the files in the folder using FTP adapter and get the file name with the least file stamp from the FTP adapter and pass the FileName dynamically to another FTP adapter which reads the file based on the FileName. Reading file from an external folder.

Iam tring to read an external file from the C:\ drive. Given below is the code.
DATA LV_XLS(100) TYPE C.
DATA LV_CONTENT TYPE XSTRING.
LV_XLS = 'C:\XML\Report.xls'
READ DATASET LV_XLS INTO LV_CONTENT.
But when i execute iam getting an error - FILE NOT FOUND. How do i read file from an external folder. My requirement is to strictly read from an external folder. Please help.
If this is not possible please advice as to how the file could be moved to the SAP root directory. Iam not able to locate the root.

Can the aTV read files from an iTunes library on my nas drive without my computer being on

I have my itunes library on a My Book Live nas drive that contains all of my digital movies and TV shows. I want to be able to watch my movies from the library without a computer running. I understand that Apple has chosen to chain you to the computer and your itunes account through Home Sharing but I can not see why they couldn't allow you to access a nas drive without a computer running because your aTV is tied to your itunes account also so why do they force you to run a computer 24/7 365 in order to access the files you have bought and paid for.
I have a love/hate for Apple because I love the quality of the products they make but I hate how they make all of the digital files you purchase only accessible through a computer running Home Sharing even though the files are not stored on the computer.
I have tried several things to get this to work without a computer but no luck. The only way I have found to be able to do this is to Jailbreak your aTV and install 3rd party software (which I don't want to do) that will allow you to by pass the computer and Home Sharing (which is dumber than ****) because that is all I want to do is eliminate the need of a computer running wasting electricity (I thought Apple was supposed to be an enviro friendly company, guess not). I am not trying to steal or give someone else my purchased movies and using the aTV and an internet connection they could still be able to tie your media to your itunes account so I just don't get there thinking, or lack of thinking I should say.
Is their a way to do this without Jailbreaking or modifying your aTV?
If not is Apple ever going to wake up and allow there customers to actually USE the media they purchase from them without Home Sharing and a computer running?
