Cl_gui_frontend_services= gui_download without carriage return

Hi,
Is there a way to get download a file to PC that way, that in the end of every lines there is a carriege return character except the last one? (Special format required by az external bank application)
I tried to add carriage return to every lines, except the last one and use cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download.
Although the "write_lf" parameter is set to space, the # is still inserted in the end of the last lines.
Any suggestion, idea?
Thanks in advance,
Peter

Hi
When second time you call method just add the following
CALL METHOD cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download
     EXPORTING
       filename                  = v_value
append                    = 'X'        <------- Just add this line

  • Writing binary data to a file without carriage returns every 512 bytes

Is there a VI for writing binary data to a file without carriage returns being inserted every 512 bytes?
    Thanks

    Hi Momolxg,
I could be way off on this. I tried to simulate what you've done by
making a for loop that would run a set number of times. For my example I
used 1025. I wired the iteration terminal to a 'Write to SGL File.vi'
outside the loop with indexing enabled. It wrote the SGL data from 0 to
1024 to the file. I then read the file with a 'Read Characters from
File.vi' and searched the output for a carriage return (0D hex). It was
found five times. The reason why was the SGL number it was reading had a
13 (0D hex) in it. Perhaps you're running into a similar problem?
I tried it again, this time using the 'Write to I16 File.vi'. The
carriage return was found five times: the 28th character the first time
then on the 512th character four consecutive time
    s after that. I suppose
that makes sense that you'd find a 0D in the numbers at equal spacings if
they're incrementing this way... In this case the carriage returns you're
seeing are actually numbers from your data.
One big difference is that I'm using a set pattern of numbers. This
doesn't appear to be your case. Is there a better way we can duplicate
your problem? It sounds interesting. Again my simulation could be way
off. (I'm also running this on LV60 for Linux so my results could be
    different)

  • Carriage Return in Text Node of SmartForm

    Hello SAPients.
I'm working with a Text node in a SmartForm. I'm using "Include Text" to call an existing text. The text loads fine except that it doesn't respects the CR's.
    What can I do?

    Hello SAPients!
I'm still having this problem, maybe I didn't explain the problem very well and that's why I didn't get an answer. I hope this information be more helpful:
I'm working in SAP 4.6C. I have a SmartForm with a Text Node that shows "unlimited" text. I created another transaction to maintain this text in a small text editor and save the text using FM SAVE_TEXT and retrieve it using FM READ_TEXT and it shows everything correct.
In the SmartForm I'm taking advantage of the option "Include text" in the Text type of the General Attributes of the text node. The system retrieves the text in a normal way, except that the text is shown without Carriage Return, that is, all the text is show in one single line. Do you know why?
Thank you in advance for your help.

  • XML is cluttered with carriage returns and line feeds - how to suppress?

    Hi all,
at least within text paragraphs we would prefer 'clean' XML without carriage returns. Can Framemaker be configured to avoid these control character?
Below is an example of a DITA file produced by Framemaker. Evidently this is related to the Pretty Printing feature and I do admit that it increases the readability. However they cause some issues for us. Note that the carriage returns in the paragraph are at arbitrary positions, not at the end of the lines as they appear in the Framemaker editor (I inserted the word "End" at the end of the first line).
    Robert

By default, FrameMaker adds a CR at around 70-80 characters unless instructed to do otherwise.
Also, soft returns (SHIFT+ENTER) are lost unless you're in a pre formatted element like a <codeblock> (which is probably why there's no CR after your "End" text.
If you want to limit the seemingly arbitrary CRs, you must tell FM where to put them. Add the following rule to the structure application rules file ..
    element "p"
      writer line break is 99999 characters;
    …scott

  • Remove Carriage Return between elements

    Hi All,
    Below is my xml document:
    <Message>
    <AccNo>100</AccNo>
    </Message>
I want to convert the above document as:
    <Message><AccNo>100</AccNo></Message>
I mean, without carriage return in between elements. The above two documents are generaring a different message signature. Please help me; as how can remove carrige returns in between elements.

You're talking about line breaks between elements; are there any line breaks inside elements? If there are, you probably want to preserve them, but for now I'll assume all line breaks must go.
What form is the XML document in? If it's a string, you can do a simple replaceAll(): str = str.replaceAll("[\r\n]+", ""); If it's in a file, you can read it in line-by-line with a BufferedReader and write it to a new file without inserting line breaks.

  • Extra Carriage Return While Using GUI_DOWNLOAD in ASC Mode

    Dear All,
    Happy New Year..First of All!
We are facing a problem in using FM GUI_DOWNLOAD for downloading internal table data in ASC Format. The FM seems to be adding one extra Line Feed / Carriage Return in the end of the file. We have debugged the code, and found that the internal table is populated correctly, but after the FM is called and the file is downloaded to the PC, we find that there is one extra blank line that is appended after the data. We have gone through some similar topics in SDN , some of them being:
    GUI_DOWNLOAD : Extra Line
    gui_download - last line
    GUI_DOWNLOAD
We are already using the parameters TRUNC_TRAILING_BLANKS = 'X', TRUNC_TRAILING_BLANKS_EOL = 'X' and WRITE_LF_AFTER_LAST_LINE = ' ', with no effect. Also tried searching in OSS, but did not find a proper note. Can anybody please throw some light on this problem?
    Thanks and Sincere Regards,
    Amitabha

    Hi...
If you can not ignore this problem. Because it download data line by line. First it set the cursor then download one record and so. For final record it it download the record then set the cursor to next line. Then it check that no more lines in the internal table. Then it exit from the FM.
    Thank
    Subhankar.

  • Please explain me how I can use Form feed(\f) and Carriage return(\r)

what is Form feed(\f) and Carriage return(\r)?
    Please explain to me.
    Thank you.

These control characters aren't used much these days except that if you example a Windows or MSDOS text file in a binary editor you'll find each line ends with "\r\n". However when reading or writing text through classes these carriage returns will be added and removed automatically so your program doesn't see them.
The controlls date back to teletype machines which operated rather like typewriters. Cariage return, as it's name implied, caused the print head to move back to the start of the line, line feed advanced a line (without, necessarilly, returning the carriage) and formfeed skipped to the next page.
Newline on these machines was always "return, linefeed" because executing the carriage return on these machine could take too long. The early machines had only a single character buffer so that they had to executed the characters as quickly as they arrived. So doing the linefeed after the carriage return gave the carriage more time to return. On some teletypes if you did "linefeed, return" then the first character of the new line would often be printed somewhere in the middle of the line.
This is the origin of the MSDOS/Windows end of line sequence.
Many printers will still respect formfeed if printing is direct. Some will take carriage return without linefeed to allow you to start again overprinting the same line.
However printing, these days, is seldom direct but done in bitmap form.

  • Keep white spaces and carriage returns?

I'm viewing a column -VARCHAR2(4000)- in a standard report column.
The column value contains white spaces and carriage returns.
I put "white-space:pre;" in CSS Style, but it still skips carriage returns...
What can I do to view white spaces and carriage returns?
    I'm using apex 3.0 and IE 7.
    Saad.

I'm using apex 3.0 and IE 7.There's your problem...
IE6 (and, since there don't seem to be any docs saying anything different, presumably IE7) don't support white-space: pre in quirks mode. Don't ask me why - probably in one of MS efforts to "not break the web".
All the APEX built-in templates are rendered in quirks mode as they don't supply complete DOCTYPEs. If you are using a standard APEX template or a custom template without a complete DOCTYPE declaration you are probably seeing this quirks behaviour.
It looks like this will change in IE8.

  • Reports not retaining carriage returns from htmldb_item.textarea

I’m created a tabular form for multi row updates using htmldb_item.textarea for one of the fields. When I update the tabular form it keeps any carriage returns in this field, which is good. I then created a “PL/SQL function body returning a SQL Query” report for printing purposes. The problem is that the field populated by the htmldb_item.textarea does not retain any of the carriage returns in the report.
I enter the following in the textarea on the tabular form:
    Line 1
    Line 2
    Line 3
The report I created then displays the data as:
    Line 1 Line 2 Line 3
I need the report to display the data the same as it appears on the tabular form.
I tried this in my report from reading other similar situations on this forums, but didn’t work.
    replace("TEXTAREA",''||chr(13)||'',''||
    ||'') as title
    Anyone know of a solution?

    How about this?
Go the page where you can edit the report column attribute - here is the bread crumb to help you figure out what I am talking about
    Home>Application Builder>Application 99999>Page Definition>Report Attributes>Column Attributes
The second box in this page is Column formatting, you will find 4 text boxes (Number / Date Format, CSS Class, CSS Style, Highlight words) and a text area (HTML Expression). In the text area replace #COLUMN_ALIAS# with <PRE>#COLUMN_ALIAS</PRE>. You will get your newlines without tweaking the query or removing Strip HTML. Strip HTML is a security feature that I would not disable. On the down side you will loose some of the ability to format like fonts etc (:-(,
Here is why you loose the newlines in the report. When browsers render html they have the liberty to reformat it. When reformating they can play around with whitespaces including new lines. To force a new line you have to use the BR tag or you can say the text is preformated using the PRE tags.

  • Carriage Returns / Line Breaks & PDF

I have a requirement to display a customers address in 1 column of a PDF report.
The address is stored in the RPD as Address1, Address2, etc. etc.
I use the answer of the question "Carriage Returns / Line Breaks" as a basic startup.
    ( Question Registered the 02/24/10 from user12673225 )
I get a great result in the HTML report.
But, when I print the report in PDF the HTML control codes appear in the PDF report.
    e.g.
    LTHEA A | P.O. BOX 877 *<br* | KY | VERNON A 100000479 |
    VERNON | /> GRAND...........|....|.............................|
    ...........| CAYMAN.............|....|.............................|
    ...........| KY1-1103 *<br*......|....|.............................|
    ...........| /> CAYMAN.........|....|.............................|
    ...........| ISLANDS.............|....|.............................|
Presently I generate the report in HTML then I convert it in PDF format.
Is there a way to print the report directly in PDF without the html control appearing in clear in the pdf file. Is is possible to do the job in one step only?

    Hi Will,
The [   instead of   <  does not work.
The character "[" is not recognized as an HTLM control code.
    It worth the try.

  • Cl_gui_frontend_services= gui_download - wrong behaviour with Windows UAC

    Hello,
we are using the method cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download to store files on the presentation front end (Windows Vista with UAC).
When the user has no windows rights to the target directory and UAC is active, then the method gui_download stores the file in other directory (C:\Users\<USER_NAME>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows) and returns with sy-subrc = 0.
In our opinion this is a critical problem but SAP doesn't want to correct it.
What do you think about it?

    Hello kpsgoutam ,
thank you for your post but it's not an answer for my question. I know how to use 'gui_dowload'. The problem is, it works wrong with UAC and target directory, where you have no rights to write the file.

  • Default Carriage return in the last column when data is downloaded to Excel

    Problem:
When you download data into Excel and if the last column of your excel is a numeric field, XMLP will add a carriage return (special character) to your numeric field. This feild will be considered as character field by excel.
    Work Around:
When you build the template, create an empty column as your last column and leave E (or end-for-each) in that empty column.
    Note:
If the last column is a character column then you do not have to do this.

I originally had that END:VCARD without any carriage return.
But I still get an extra carriage return at the end when the JSP renders to VCF
I'm using Tomcat running on Linux.
I found this, article which implies (but does not explicitly say) JSP in general adds a newline to the last line:
http://www.caucho.com/resin-3.0/jsp/faq.xtp (But its not tomcat either, so maybe this info is irrelevant).

What are the options we have?Run an update on the Oracle table following the inserts to replace the escaped CR/LFs with real ones:
    update foo
set clob_column = replace(clob_column, '\r\n', chr(13) || chr(10));You might want to experiment to see which characters are actually necessary. As an OS X/Linux user I'd probably just use a single LF chr(10).
