Clarity on HR_PERSON_RECORD.GET_PERSON_DETAILS API

I tried to find out the details of API HR_PERSON_RECORD.GET_PERSON_DETAILS on Integrated SOA Gateway, but could not find there.
1)I want to fetch all the Employees from the EBS system using the GET_PERSON_DETAILS API in the chucks, so that response does not time out and I get all the persons from all Business Groups, considering I don't know the business groups as well as the person_id's. Since wild card search does not work with this API, I am struck. Please suggest how can I use this or any other Oracle provided API to achieve my target?
2) Is there some oracle provided API available which can return me all the business groups available in Oracle EBS system?
3) Is there any oracle provided API which return the maximum or minimum person_id available in Oracle EBS System?
4) Is there any Oracle provided API which can return me the person object_version_number on some effective_date for a person?
5) Is there any Oracle provided API which can return me the person assignment object_version_number on some effective_date for a person?

• EJB 3.0 Persistence API and Stored Procedures

Does the EJB 3.0 Persistence API in any way prescribe or facilitate the use of Stored Procedure calls? Given the recent popularity of using (database) server APIs consisting of Stored Procedures that are addressed by ORM frameworks for performing the DML operations and of course the general usefulness of stored procedures for specific data related operations, there definitely is a need for clarity on using the straightforward Persistence operations in combination with calls to Stored Procedures. Can we use the Native Query for executing CallableStatements? Can we get to a Connection instance from the EntityManager? Can we easily use the results from a Stored Procedure invocation to refresh our Domain Objects - or is that all application logic in which the EntityManager cannot help us?
If the spec does not help us at this point, do you know how TopLink will deal with this topic?
Thanks for any help you can give me!
Best regards,
Lucas Jellema

I'm am also interested in a response to this post. I've just upgraded to JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 and am interested in making calls to stored procedures.
I've found examples of just creating my own session beans but it seems I would have to hard code the datasource name. Does anyone know if I can get around this using the entity manager supplied by the tool?
thanks,

• Calling a java loaded API from PL/SQL

HI,
I have a java program loaded in the Database.
For sake of clarity I am posting the java Program also.

props.put("user", "apps" );
props.put("password", "apps");
long len=0;
int temp;
ResultSet rs = null;
SimpleDateFormat fSDateFormat = null;

I have earlier created Java APIs which have returned some value and have been able to load them in the DB and call through a PL/SQL function wrapper.
But I am unable to create a procedure for this.
I have tried all sorts of debugging but always am getting error around this.
Can someone Please take a look at this Pronblem.
Thanks In Advance,

A proper designed application in the database tier is far more scalable and performs better than using a separate middle tier for the application.
This should be self evident.
A middle tier requires more moving parts between the application and data. There now sits a network pipe between application and data. There are more software layers that slows down the interaction of the application with the data - more stuff that can go wrong. More stuff that needs to be maintained and configured and secured.
What's more, the database tier is a lot more scalable than the middle tier. Oracle Real Application Clusters. Oracle Parallel Processing. Oracle Shared Server. Etc.
These are robust and mature technologies.
One major fact that seems to be missed by so-called IS architects favouring a middle tier is that the middle tier cannot make a single database query or transaction go faster.
Scaling the middle tier is done by throwing more hardware at it. But not a single additional mid-tier h/w platform will make the database tier any faster. Will make the database tier scale.
Then there is also the issue of costs. A middle tier requires additional hardware. It requires support and maintenance agreements with the vendors. It requires middle tier software to be purchased. It requires a new set of skills to do middle tier development. It deals with different technology and different programming languages.
Why? How can this approach be sensible when:
- Oracle scales exceedingly well (and this scalability is not dependent on more h/w purchasing)
- Oracle deals with a single programming language (PL/SQL)
- Oracle supports high availability
- Oracle supports redudancy
- Oracle supports the complete application tier inside the database
If you have problems now leveraging Oracle (as an application tier), then you will have more problems when doing it a middle layer. Why?
Because the lack of experience/skill/knowledge required to make Oracle work for you, is not now suddenly negated and not needed when moving the application tier to Java.

• My Game API

I just discovered this Forum and couldn't help but
mention I have been working on a game API since early
97. I am still working on it (doesn't pay the bills)
However, I think I have the absolutely most efficient
and robust API for games for many many reasons.
1- 100% double buffered graphics.
2- I handle Events from the Frame downwards in an internal list
100% rewrite and internal handling of
mouse and keyboard events.
3- I don't use components. Events are dispatched
from the parent Container which means 1 listener.
4 - The graphics output Thread is timed precisely
This means NO race conditions and SMOOTH graphics.
5 Layering is a product of the Graphics output Thread.
This means very little extra processing to swap
* "Component" layers.
6 100% retentiion of Alpha value on layered
components. This means you can have a
component of any shape on a Component of any shape.
7 A built in Spline() class for Gob() "Sprite"
movment.
8 SuperBitmaps()
"Scrollable Bitmaps that are larger than
the visible the display."
8 Full X/Y/Z space
9 Built in Java Object Server and class
permission registery.
10 Configurable from a simple text file.
11 Built in 100% Component swap on Event
dispatch means you can change EVERY component comprising the display in 1 display iteration. This makes changing the display on an event VERY fast and smooth. I would venture to say faster than windows
updates ALL its components (Which you can
actually see being drawn on windows)
12 AnimGob() class for animated graphics
objects.
Note:
** actually they are Gobs() of "GraphicsObjects"
I said Components so you would know what it essentially is.
*** The Graphics IO and Threading were designed
around some of the superior concepts of Amiga Copper
Lists for anyone who understands or cares :)
There are many things I don't have time to mention.
Currently I have the Object server "java.io"
yanked and I am preparing a new java.nio version.
For those who want to test the API.
(requires JDK1.4)
http://hyperbyte.ab.ca/JavaZone
Now there are some issues of course but this
displays the concept and java is fast enough
for games.
Oh yes and it runs as an signed Applet OR
a java Application verbatim.
AND I have an exact Win32.exe version.
Well one day I may actually do
real documentation.
Hava fun :)

Hmm I replied to this quit a while back but it
seems to have gotten lost.
Do you use native timing or System.getMillis or do you
use timer like that at all? There are 2 timer paradigms. Native timeing is
used for Thread preemption and notification and
getMillis is used for a real time clock.
I have a new class which servers as a central
time registry and uses native timing for
what I call a "Heartbeat" timer with one second
resolution. Thus there are ATM 3 methods of timing.
The tightest is the Graphics output Thread
which has a 20ms resolution. I call this the
"Exec Constant" because it is the minimum preemption
I have found after much testing that one "SHOULD"
give so that the underlying OS has enough time for housekeeping.
Otherise you get issues such as under MS Windows where a socket
connects and you loose control of you gui because it is locked
out. This NEVER happens under HyperView. It takes care
of its own preemperion and can NEVER race. Even if you
called its paint() method from 20 Threads it should keep
running smoothly. It forces proper serialization.
The output is designed/inspired by Amiga Copper lists.
Do you use eventDispatched for catching the events?
This is good if there is only few listeners, such as
keyboard and mouse alone, but it gets very slow when
window listeners are involved.I started this after the initial release of JDK1.02.
It became obvious very quickly that there was grave
deficiencies in the origianl event model.
As such I designed my own handlers for Events
which run in their own Threads. This is WAY more
efficient because there is almost no processing done
in the mousePressed() method for example.
The Mouse listener simply accures the events and then notifies
the handler. This mean the mouse event Thread never gets
bogged down my too much processing becuase it is simply free
to keep accruing the events without worrying about what
the events do. Same for the keyboard.
Also, there is only ever ONE event listener.
It hands the events to respective handler, and
The handler processes the event.
There are 2 methods of event handling.
One which requires an Object called "Dispatch()"
And the other a more lightweight method of
overwriting the "Component's" inline event methods.
Note: I say component for clarity BUT the HyperView Does NOT
use Components at all. It has its own version which are
called "Gobs" for "Graphics Objects" This is
similar in concept to the old Amiga Bob or Blitter Object.
Do you have any documentation? I believe you don't
want to release source for such project otherwise it
would have been in the jar, correct? I want to eventually BUT I think it is too early yet.
There are too many issues I must fix. For example
Splines sometimes loose their direction in the Z plane.
Hmmm :( Thus they end up going backwards.. Shrug.
I have 5+ years of optimitation into this, but I have
not worked on it much for the past 2 years because
it doesn't pay $$$ and I have to concentrate other
paying code. However, it is my intention to
have others work on it eventually. It comes down to
I am very picky in the "A real programmer will
work 90 hours to increase the speed of a critical loop
by 90 nano seconds" sense.
The only problem
is that without the docs it is quite limited.I understand. I will post many more examples
in the next month.
I'm not
trying to snatch your code or anything, I'm using
OpenGL for my graphics, but I tried playing around
with it and failed. What failed the Applet or Open GL?
Sounds like a cool idea you have been developing. Thanks! It is my baby. The premise behind it is
simple "Efficiency" Java is efficient enough if one
takes care to avoid various pitfalls. Probelm is
there are maybe 1% good programmers and 99% bad ones.
I mean of the I should put a subrouine every 5 lines variety
the more objects I instantiate on the fly the better variety.
There are many things you do not see happening.
For example there is a complete Java Object Server
built into the Applet. THus once you run the Applet
you are at once p2p ready. However, I am replacing
this server with a new one based on java.nio.
Several of the clases I wrote under JDK1.3
Sun incorporated likewise into JDK1.4. For
example ByteBuffer and Preferences. I
am going to switch from my version to theirs.
The new nio bases server is many times better
and is non blocking. Under 1.3 I NEVER blocked but
looped around the available() method.
anyway I could go on and on about this...
You can write me for more info

• Regarding Clarity interface?

Hi can anyone give me some idea on Clarity interface.
How to develop interfaces between Clarity and SAP systems and do the enhancements to the core SAP system.
Pls help me....
Pts will be rewarded:))

I dont know why you have that problem. But this might help:
I searched google for the definition of connection which I found:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/sql/Connection.html
Then in that, I clicked on the definition of getMetaData()
Then on the link DatabaseMetaData
Then on getColumns() link
and found this:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/sql/DatabaseMetaData.html#getColumns(java.lang.String,%20java.lang.String,%20java.lang.String,%20java.lang.String)
From there, search for:
public ResultSet getColumns
In there, it shows you a list of items you can retreive from the object that getColumns() returns (you only fetched COLUMN_NAME from the list of possible items).
I suggest changing your code from:
System.out.println(("Column Name"+rs.getString( "COLUMN_NAME"));
to also print out all those other items that the function getColumns() can return.
Then you can see what the differences between the two column object you retrieve are.

• Game API's or software

Hello,
I am new to BB development and am trying to figure out how to make games? Say for instance the games BrickBreaker or Tetris for the blackberry's. What Java specification was used to make these animated games? Are they SVG, Flash, etc.? I know i may be way off but any clarity on the matter is greatly appreciated.
weblogicguy

Yeah, they suckered me on that one too. I did a double take and said "When did *that* happen!?".
Gaming in J2SE is usually handled via the fullscreen Java2D APIs. The terms you need to be most familiar with are BufferStrategy, Automatic Image, BufferedImage, and VolatileImage. Between these APIs, you have everything you need to do fast 2D graphics. Of course, there are some great libraries out there to help you out:
LWJGL - This is a thin Java -> OpenGL layer that's perfect for creating the next Quake in Java. If you're so inclined, you can also do 2D graphics by way of some 3D transformation voodoo.
Upsides: This sucka's fast; Well supported by the community
Downsides: Difficult to learn (OpenGL); Not ported to all systems (yet)
http://java-game-lib.sourceforge.net
Planetation - This is ZParticle's own library he created for his Java2D gaming needs. It's got some really nice features such as a map editor, scrolling maps, and automatic sprite pooling. (Jump in here if I'm missing something Z.)
Upsides: A very fast Java2D gaming API; complete end to end solution
Downsides: The entire system is designed around the Map Editor. This makes it tough to plug in your map enhancements.
http://www.scottshaver2000.com
GAGE - GAGE is a library I wrote after being inspired by Planetation. It handles features such as Parallax Maps, Collision Detection, Sound, Sprite handling, Hi-Resolution timer, and other fun features. The API was designed to be as open as possible so that you only have to use parts you want to use. It doesn't define any file formats.
Upsides: Cleanly written; Lots of great features
Downsides: Still new; No Map Editor (Don't be lazy! Build one yourself! ;-)); Some APIs may change before codebase stablizes
http://java.dnsalias.com
As the previous poster mentioned, all these are discussed on JavaGaming.org, with the later two also having boards on http://www.scottshaver2000.com/forum.

• OPM - API Question

Dear Friends,
Could you please share any existing example code for the following scenario? It would be really helpful to resolve an issue in my current project. Pardon me if I am not clear. I would be more than willing and happy to provide more clarity if needed. Thanks in advance for your kind help.
Through an API objects are created by using input details
1.Item
2.Formula
3.Operation
4.Routing
5.Activity
Conditions:
If an operation exists, perform validation, then should not create a new one.
The routing should be attached with an existing operation.
If operation does not exist only should create an operation.

• Unable to capture user comments and responder in RESPOND API

We are building a custom application that uses Oracle Workflow underneath. The application users and responsibilities have been integrated into Workflow. Notifications are acknowledged and responded to directly from the application using the PL/SQL Notification APIs.
When using the wf_notification.respond API with the appropriate user and comment information filled in, we are still unable to capture the responder information as well as the reponders comments. In other words, the RESPONDER and USER_COMMENT fields in the WF_NOTIFICATION is blank. However, the response does seem to go through otherwise. Do we need to set some kind of user context outside of just setting the response attributes and calling the respond API? Following is the code....
owf_mgr.wf_notification.setattrtext(p_nid,
'RESULT' ,
'APPROVED');
-- This procedure then caused the WF to advance to next step
-- Respond to notification, depends on RESULT setattrtext above
owf_mgr.wf_notification.respond( p_nid, -- notification id
p_respond_comment, -- response_comment
p_responder ); --responder role
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Raj

If you are on 11.5.10 or greater or standalone 2.6.4 if you pass the responder value to wf_notification.respond API it should be updated in wf_notifications.responder column. The comments is now updated in wf_comments table against the notification id and not wf_notifications.user_comment column.
Thanks, Vijay

• Is There any API in receivables payment will made against closed invoices ?

Hi ALL,
i have requirement as below.
i am doing AR Invoice Data Migration for Instance 11.5.5 (as a Source Instance) to the new instance R12 (as a target instance).
Both open and closed invoices will have to be migrated from 11.5.5 to R12 to provide the drill down facility for audit purpose.
To meet the above requirement all the open and closed invoice will be picked up from 11.5.5 ; and imported into R12..
Subsequently, full payment will be made in R12 against all closed invoices in 11.5.5 to close those invoices by using any APIs?
can some one explain is there any API in receivables payment will made against closed invoices.
Thanks,
VSR.

Hi,
Can you be clear on your question: You want any API to make payment against closed invoices?
To me, You are making things complex. We can achieve the Migration of Closed invoices using following two procedures:
Procedure: 1
Ask Functional Guy to create a Transaction Type 'Closed Invoices' with Open to Receivables Flag not checked. +(You can uncheck Post to GL flag also, if required depending on your migration strategy)+. Status at Transaction Type if taken as 'Closed' it will be appropriate.
Invoices migrated using this Transaction Type shall not be shown as Outstanding but will be useful for Audit.
Procedure: 2
Consider the amount due Original of Closed Invoices and migrate them with the amount as Amount due remaining.
While migrating populate Receipt Method,Payment Method and Instruments useful for Automatic Receipts.
Once Create Automatic Receipts Program is run, it will close all these invoices. Note: We require dummy bank here which points to a Clearing account.
Automatic Receipts program is also an API.
In the above 2 ways, we are acheiving the Goal by using Functional knowledge rather than Technical. And I think following Functional way is better and less time consuming.
Please discuss with your Functional consultant if required. You can succeed.
Regards,
Sridhar

• Is there a way of improving print clarity in iOS7 on my iPad & iPhone?

Since I 'upgraded' both my IPad mini & my IPhone 4S to the new operating system I've been both pleased and disappointed.
Most displeasure is with the loss of the sharp black-on-white clarity that defined iCal in iOS6. The new half tone grey may work well for younger users but the reduction in contrast, especially on a small screen, is infuriating for an older user like me.
As a freelance (TV director) I use iCal constantly and now find I'm wasting time peering at the screen & deploring its 'pale & fuzzy' look. And, in case you're thinking of a scornful remark about my eyesight, my Zeiss-lensed spectacles give me excellent clarity of vision, thank you.
Please will Apple quickly introduce an upgrade to change the typeface colour?

You didn't have a backup of your MacBook's hard drive when it had to be replaced? If you do look in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to see if the Doman.sites2 file is there. If it is drag it to the same folder on your new hard drive and open with iWeb. That should give you your old sites back.
If you don't have a backup then you'll have to do what QTKirt pointed out. However, Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the creation of the new site.

• Error While trying to Convert a Date Value to string in POI API (Excel)

Hi
How can I convet a date value in excel to string value ? I am using POI API for excel sheet reading in JSP .

Hello Esther,
the problem seems to be that the temp folder of the target Integration Builder system can't be found:
'The system cannot find the path specified
at [..] FileAccess.getTempDirectory([..])'.
You'll experience the same problem if you try a file based import or export within the Integration Builder directly.
I would recommend to continue the search there. You could check if the environment variables (for Windows: TEMP and TMP) of the OS of the system with the target Integration Builder to an existing path. Check also if the WebAs can access this path.
Good luck
Frank

Hi James,
Thanks for the quick reply.
We've tried to call that web service from an HTML designed in Visual Studios with the same username and password and its working fine.
But on the BPEL console, we are getting the error as mentioned.
Also if you can tell me how to set the user name and password in the header of the parter link.I could not find how to do it.
Thanks,
Saurabh
