Class Enhancement without a .jdo file

Is it possible to do a byte code enhancement using the KODO APIs passing in
a data structure containing the .jdo metadata file information without
having to explicitly create a .jdo file?
I'm looking at using the enhance() method of JDOEnhancer class and it looks
like I have to have a .jdo file on disk. Is there any way to avoid it?
In my enviornment I read information from a master metadata file, use that
to generate Java code, invoke the compiler on it and now I'd like to invoke
the enhancer on the class files - i'd like to do all this one shot. Since I
have all the information needed in memory, I don't want to create a .jdo
file and have the enhancer read that file.
Thanks
Vijay

Vijay-
You do always need the .jdo metadata file for your classes; the JDO
specification requires it. Note, though, that you could just have a
single top-level package.jdo file that holds the metadata for all your
classes, so that you would only need to create a single file.
Technically, I suppose you could use a custom ClassLoader that overrides
getResourceAsStream() (since this is the way we locate .jdo metadata
files for classes), and return a textual stream of the contents of the
..jdo metadata. It might work, but we advise against it, since using
custom ClassLoaders can introduce very tricky problems that are
difficult to debug.

  • Placement of .JDO files

    Hi,
    (my question
Can .JDO files be placed in src folder or some other folder or does it
have to be in the folder containing the class files. )
We have a web application under Tomcat with the structure as
    web-inf
    -classes
    ... package structure
    - src
    ... package structure.
Currently we have our .JDO files under the classes folder in the right
package structure. we have individual .JDO file for each object rather
than a package.jdo or a system.jdo (we specify each db column and property
    in each file per table)
Can these be placed in src folder or some other folder or does it have to
    be in that folder.
when i tried to move the .jdo to the src folder and i tried to enhance an
    object, the enhancer said
    [java] Enhancing "class Adib.Motiwala.Person"...
[java] Type "Adib.Motiwala.Person" has no metadata; enhancing as
    persistence-aware
Please let us know abt this.
    Thanks
    adib motiwala

The metadata files must be loadable as a resource from the Classes they pertain to. This is part of the JDO specification. For more information on Java resources, consult the Javadoc for java.lang.Class.getResource() and java.lang.ClassLoader.getResource().
It boils down to this: the metadata files have to be in certain special locations, and those locations have to be in the CLASSPATH. If you put your src/ directory in your CLASSPATH things should work just fine.

  • Speed of class-enhancer

    Hello,
on enhancing classes (using the appropriate ant-task) I found out that
it is somewhat slow. Since the model I enhance has almost 300 classes
    things will take a while.
My question: Is there a possibility to speed-up class-enhancement (other
than using a faster machine ;-)

My question: Is there a possibility to speed-up class-enhancement (other
than using a faster machine ;-)Unfortunately enhancement just has a lot of work to do, what with parsing
the XML metadata and parsing the class bytecode and such. One thing:
running the enhancer on a list of class names will be faster than running
it on a list of .jdo files, which in turn will be faster than running it on
a list of .class files. Other than that, though... sorry.
Don't mind, I thought about something like that. But I didn't want to
miss some hidden switch and haven't asked for it :-)
But concerning the names: Currently I apply the ant-task on jdo-files
using an embedded fileset. How to provide a list of file-names within
the task? Or does this work only for the enhancer class directly?

Memory on my macbook air keeps disappearing.  I have 120 gigs and I am down to 150mb without adding any files.

Thanks...I have tried the various options and the only item of interest is that my only account on this computer says it has 102 gig of memory used up.  However, when I open and look at the individual files, they add up to less than 15 gigs.

  • Taglib: class not found in jar-file

    I've got the following problem:
I whant to deploy a taglib to tomcat 5.0.25.
If I point to the jsp which uses the taglib I got the following error:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to read TLD "META-INF/taglib.tld" from JAR file "file:/C:/Programme/Apache Software Foundation/Tomcat 5.0/webapps/taglibtest/WEB-INF/lib/gsa_prod3_db_taglib.jar": org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Failed to load or instantiate TagExtraInfo class: ch.gsa.prodass3.taglib.TagAddAttributeTEI
If I copy the taglib.tld out of the jar-file into WEB-INF and do the mapping in web.xml, I get this error:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Failed to load or instantiate TagExtraInfo class: ch.gsa.prodass3.taglib.TagAddAttributeTEI
    root cause
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ch.gsa.prodass3.taglib.TagAddAttributeTEI
It seems like none of the files in the jar-file could be loaded.
    Has anybody an idea?
    Help would be very appreceated!
    Greetings, Jonas

1 - double check the class is in the jar file, in that path, and is spelt correctly
    2 - restart Tomcat
3 - check the contents of the tld file - particularly the extra-info tag and class name for it.

  • How do I delete my iCloud email without deleting the files from the server?

I want to delete my iCloud email from a laptop I don't use much anymore. I am afraid if I do all the files will delete from the server as well. Is this true? If not, what are the best ways to go about deleting the account without harming the files on the server (in turn deleting all my email from synced iCloud devices)?

In Mail, delete the account, the server side will not be changed.

  • Actions Possible Without Opening Raw File in Photoshop?

Is it possible to record certain actions on a raw file without opening the file in Photoshop?
Let's assume I have 250 files, all needing lens correction (and maybe other common tweaks) as a basic first step.  I'd like to be able to record an action that (1) opens my NEF file in ACR; (2) makes the lens correction based on the profile for the particular lens I used; (3) [other tweak--say noise reduction]; (4) [other tweak--say color temperature]; and then (5) closes the file generating nothing but the .xmp file.
Then when I go to work on each file, all my basic corrections have been made so that when I reopen later in ACR, I only have to make custom changes before finally opening in Photoshop.
I've tried a few things, scanned the forums, checked the online help center, gone through a few Adobe TV tutorials, but I can't figure out how to do it.
    Any help?
    I'm in CS6.
I just realized that this question probably belongs here rather than the ACR discussion.  I apologize for cross posting.

    Phoenix89MR wrote:

No...an Action is something that records something in Photoshop. Yes, an Action can record ACR settings....but you need to actually end up opening the image in Photoshop and it will render the file.
What you really want to do is to look into Camera Raw Presets and using them while in Bridge. You would open a representative image, adjust the image, save a preset and then apply that preset to as many images as you want to in Bridge. Also note you can open multiple images in ACR, select them and adjust multple images at once. You can also adjust an image and then in Bridge, copy the settings from the one file and paste them to others.
Lots of way to accomplish what you want but not really by Actions in Photoshop.

  • How to protect against a pdf printing without protecting the file with a password ?

I want to know if it's possible to protect a PDF against printing without protecting the file with a password ?
It's possible to make it with Acrobat Reader or another version ?
    Thank You
    Best regards.

    Hi,
Yes, you can restrict editing and printing of the document; although you have setup a permission password (To restrict the users from changing the document permissions).
Please follow the steps mentioned below:-
Open the file in Adobe Acrobat- Document properties- Security- Change security method to password security- Select Restrict editing and printing of the document

  • Multiple classes in the same source file

I'm not sure what this is called, having multiple classes in the same source file. At first I thought it ws called subclassing but then I googled it and found that subclasses are just derived classes. Here's an example of what I'm talking about.
    public class A {
    class B {
    class C {
}So first of all, what is having multiple classes in the same source file called?
Secondly, what are the advantages/disadvantages of this?
Thirdly, can you have a class completely WITHIN a class (same source file but inside the class not outside) and what are the advantages/disadvantages of this?

Advantage: You can reduce the number of source files specialy when your secondry classes are used only in the public class of the file.
Disadvantage: Normaly it make things more clear if we have one-to-one correspondance of class and source files. This make things easy when you want to find the java file of a perticuler class file. Also If you later wanted to create a seperate public class with a same name as one of those secondry classes you got lots of changes to do.
You can avoid this by creating them as nested classes
    ex:-
    public class MyPublicClass{
       private static class MyInnerClass{
}this way the inner class will create a class file with name "MyPublicClass$MyInnerClass.class" instead of just "MyInnerClass.class"
And also if you declare the inner class as public you can access them from out side
