"Class Formatting Error" in a java applet? (Solved)
(This problem is completely my fault and it would be hard to provide enough information to request and answer. Disregard this message.)
I've been developing a java applet to go on my website, but when running it tosses a "java.lang.ClassFormatError: rendering/ImageObserverClass" to the console. When I looked into the code I thought of java compliance levels. (Earlier I had to set Eclipse to a higher compliance level to make it accept new ArrayList<Renderable>();)
Is this not my problem? In my html code I have the following:
<applet
code="main/GalacticConflict.class"
codebase="code/"
width="640" height="480">
</applet>In Eclipse the program compiles and runs fine, so it most likely is a deeper issue. Thanks for any help!
EDIT:
Heh, that was stupid of me.... Just decided to try removing the <Renderable> from there, but it still doesn't work. The line number the console refers to is commented code, making it even more strange. If you have insight, feel free to post it here, but I'm going to make sure my new code is even being passed to my server properly.
Edited by: Durnus on Dec 26, 2008 9:45 AM
EDIT2:
It appears to be an error with my copying process -- when I view the .html file with Firefox in the workspace folder, it works fine. Sorry for the trouble.

Class format error: Invalid constant pool tag found
I am simply attempting to create an instance of an object and I get Class format error: Invalid constant pool tag found. Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it?
Thanks.If you're compiling with J2SDK 1.4 or higher, you need to use "-target 1.1" on the javac command line.
Also make sure you're not using any float constants such as 1.0 in your code. -
Windows classpath vs java.class.path error in QuickTime based applet
Hello
I've spent days reading and searching the internet, and I'm still stumped why some Windows installations are not able to run my QuickTime for Java based applet even though QuickTime is installed (the specific error is: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: quicktime/QTException). I have some additional details and a question that might spur someone to an insightful nudge.
On a Windows system that fails:
echo %classpath%
.;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QTJava.zipWhich is where QTJava.zip is found on the (faulty?) system, but java.class.path is just:
java.class.path = C:\PROGRA~1\Java\jre6\classes
Of the dumped system properties, only java.library.path makes any mention of the QTSystem folder (or any other QT or QuickTime related items).
java.library.path = C:\Program Files\Safari;.;C:\Windows\Sun\Java\bin;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\PROGRA~1\Java\jre6\bin;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\
I ran across one thread (elsewhere) where the user was having problems with loading some classes from a complex JAR environment, and a solution was to write a custom class loader. After doing so, the user got the same error "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: quicktime/QTException" that was resolved by extending the custom class loader to include .zip files. I'm not sure if the solution is relevant, or if he simply broke something in his custom class loader that would have worked otherwise. I've not written a custom class loader and not sure where to begin, so before I ventured down that path I was hoping someone might shed some light as to if this is a dead end or potential solution. This is a signed applet (QuickTime now requires it, even if you are only playing files of the same server) and it does work on several Windows machines and all tested Macs.
Thank you,
Deron

Staring at java code will not help you figure that out.
Maybe it isn't intended to be loaded in java but instead it loads java itself?
If not then write a C/C++ basic app that links that dll in and see if you can at least get it to start. -

Or maybe you're going through a proxy but haven't configured the JVM to go through the same firewall?

No Class Found Error on invoking java class from PL/SQL
Hi There,
I have followed instructions on how to create a java proc in the DB to invoke it from PL/SQL.
I get a 'java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError' error because it cannot access 'org.apache.axis.description.TypeDesc' in this case. The instuctions say to add the supporting jars which contain the additional classes to the project's Additional Classpath's which I have done.
I deploy the java classes and create the java stored proc using JDev.
Can someone please tell me how to go about resolving this?
I can see 'org.apache.axis.description.TypeDesc' in the DB via JDev's Databse connection in the Java Classes tree?
Thanks,

Proxy Login Request on Java applets
• 10.4.5 Client
• Windows 2.3k ISA 2005 Proxy Server
• Users' fileserving to Win2.3k - ADmitMac for AD integration
The client is a test machine on which I build campus master NetInstall images. In my testing procedures I've come across a bizarre problem with Java in the browsers (IE, Safari, & FireFox).
We use ISA proxy server with web filtering, and users must authenticate to the proxy. On a new user's first use of any browser, the proxy username & password are requested, and the Add to Keychain checkbox is available. If the user checks the box, no further proxy login requests are made; the user's Keychain is updated with the proxy information.
On pages with Java applets, however, each and every applet will ask for a proxy login, but the login window does not offer a Add to Keychain checkbox! If a page has 15 applets on it, the user will be asked 15 times to authenticate against the proxy.
Naturally, this is a BIG problem, especially when several of the sites our teachers use in classes and labs contain many Java applets.
On the web, there is almost nothing concerning setting up Java with proxy servers, as all Apple Java from v. 1.4.2 onwards picks up proxy information from the system's network settings.
On the Apple Developer site, Tech Note QA1263 demonstrates a way of setting HTTPS proxy settings by entering text strings in the 1.3.1 and 1.4.1 Plugin Settings apps Java Runtime Parameters. The same capability exists in the J2SE 5.0 Java Preferences app, too. Unfortunately, the Java applets do not use HTTPS, so far as I can tell, so this remedy is useless.
Any clues I can pursue? Any help or fixes?
Thanks in advance!

This is the output of the console log. From what I can glean, the plug-in sees the proxy server settings as it should, and reports them.
In addition, the J2SE 5.0 Java Preferences app allows you to turn off all security settings. No change in behavior.

yifatHi,
Check the following
1. Check the sum of all Widths with Total Width of the Table they should be equal.
2. Check the height aswell.
3. Check if any text is overlapping.
4. Check this note 820106. For Formatting Error. if It doesn't solve revert back.
5. .Sometimes the text may exceed the lenght of the cell,check that case also.
Check this link aswell http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/d1/80318f454211d189710000e8322d00/frameset.htm

Taking screenshot with java applet using java robot class not working
Hi Everyone,
I am using the java applet to take screenshot of the web browser using the java's robot class.
Robot objRobot = new Robot ();
BufferedImage objBufferedImage = objRobot.createScreenCapture(objRectArea);
The thing work good in windows system taking screenshot but in case of mac osx i get the blank image.When i check the event viewer in mac osx i get the following error.
invalid context
invalid pixel format
CoreAnimation: rendering error 506
The problem is coming for all the browser safari,firefox and chrome.My applet is signed applet.
What might be the reason.An early reply is very valuable.
My machine configuration is as follows.
OS : MAC OSX
Version : 10.6.4
Is that a system level issue , java plugin issue?I'am confused with this error.
Thanks sagar.870613 wrote:

My web page uses a Java Applet to allow my visitors to replay chess games; the Chess Viewer Deluxe applet was written by Nikolai Pilafov some time ago and has been working properly for some time (until recently). I don't monitor this part of my site regularly so I am not sure when it began to fail. On his web site [http://chesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/chess-viewer-deluxe.html] he has a link to check LiveConnect object functionality (which fails for OBJECT tags). His recommendation is to "seek platform specific support which might be available from the JRE developers for your platform".
I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Until I checked the LiveConnect object functionality, I was unable to identify the source of the console error messages. This does seem to be the smoking gun.
Is Apple aware of this problem? Are these classes no longer supported? Has anyone else had this problem? You can attempt to recreate the problem locally by going to my web page: http://donsmallidge.com/DonSmallidgeChess.html
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

PI 7.1 Enhancement pack 8: still error when referencing java class in xslt
Hi
I am getting an error in PI 7.1 EP 8 Repository when I try to use an xslt in which I make a reference to a java class. The error is:
Transformer Configuration Exception occurred when loading XSLT XCBL_invoice_stylesheet.xsl; details: Could not compile stylesheet
I use this xslt:
<xsl:template match="/" xmlns:util="dk.dongenergy.pi.mapping.Utilities_datetime">
<html>

I have imported the java archive successfully and it is working in XI 3.0 and it is working if I comment out the reference to the java class in the xslt.
the java class looks like this:
package dk.dongenergy.pi.mapping;
import java.text.SimpleDateFormat;
import java.util.Date;
public class Utilities_datetime {
* public static String getCurrentDateTimeFormatted() {*
* Date now = new Date();*
* SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("dd MMM yyyy HH:mm:ss");*
