Class Instantiation Issues...
Hi,
We are currently having issuses with a Class Interface. Everything was working fine with it, and now it says that the class is 'not instantiated'. If you are in SE80 or SE24 and try to test a class (e.g. CL_HRRCF_APPLICATION_CTRL), you will get a pop-up that allows you to replace generic parameter types. Now with the non-working class, it gives a screen similar to your transport organizer, with the class name at the top with '<not instantiated>' beside it, and a list of methods below it. This Class is being used through the web. Also, in the title bar in 6.40, it says, 'Test Class CL_HRRCF_GLOBAL_CONTEXT: No Instance'.
<phew>... so, has anyone else run into a problem like this, and if not, does this make enough sense? Is there a way of instantiating a Class Interface without calling it from a program, like generation?

I am also working on an eRecruitment 3.0 ramp-up project. What I have found is that most of the classes etc used rely on other classes etc further up the chain, they cannot be tested in isolation. Instead it is normally necessary to set a breakpoint and then log into the eRecruitment Fornt end via a web browser. The class will then be instantiated in the normal process, as you work through the system pages, and called appropriately.
This is a BSP issue. The class in question is a basic building block of the eRecruitment BSP pages.

SO Is there any work around that Weblogic picked my application specific jar before picking Weblogic Application's Jars.........
If you are using an EAR file deployed on your WebLogic instance try placing the JAR file in EAR/lib folder (If not you can also try the WEB-INF/lib directory). It might help you. However I cannot recommend a sure shot location unless I know what invokes the classes inside "js.jar". You have to keep in mind the class loader hierarchy to know the right place where a particular JAR file to go. This is because a Parent Class Loader doesn't have visibility of Classes loaded by a Child Class Loader and hence the hierarchy is important.

Is this in the system classloader and the application? and are you using class loading filtering in the application, for example,
in weblogic.xml - prefer-web-inf-classes? -
Baseline update keeps failing due to forge class path issues ?
I'm trying ATG 10.2 setup with Endeca 3.1.2, discover store runs fine, but when I try to run baseline update on ATG CRS store, I see a NoClassDefFound error on slf4j libraries. I'm not very familiar with endeca, so please let me know if my approach does not make sense.
First I looked at baseline_update.sh and see it's calling runcommand.sh. So I did an echo on the last line of runcommand.sh and I can see slf4j api's getting included...

Dynamic Class Instantiation with getDefinitionByName
Ok so I am trying to follow the following example in
instantiating a class dynamically:

However I get an error: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable
OrderEdit is not defined.
The problem is that my class is located in an altogether
different project directory from the the calling main project (I
include this project with these classes I am trying to dynamically
instantiate in the project source path).
Every example I have seen so far involves some sort of hard
coding. I am builidng a plugin/component that I intend to use in
various places in my site and have any general hard code is
UNACCEPTABLE. How can I make this process COMPLETELY HARD CODE
FREE??

Then its showing me same error

Dynamic class loading issue with XmlBeans and Axis2
Hi,
Since support to web services is not enough in JDeveloper I am using apache axis2 to consume web services from an ADF web application.
Everything works fine if I use jdk 1.5 but our app servers require jdk 1.4.2_08-b03 so I switched jre settings to jdk 1.4.2_08-b03 in the JDeveloper and I started to get these issues.
I debugged the application and this line is the cause of the exception. It is in request document class.

I have problems compiling a file and I suspect it could be something related to classpaths. I am using NetBeans 6.9.1 as my IDE. When I set JDK 1.6 as my platform and complile, there are no issues, the programs compiles fine.
My 'classpath' and 'path' are as follows:

If I were to set the JDK as in 1.5, I seem to get the follwing error:

His environment is a bit messed up because he has PATH entries for both JDK versions.There is precisely zero evidence for that assertion.
If he wants to compile and test with JDK 1.5, then removing 1.6 would make sense.No it wouldn't. He is using classes compiled for 1.6 with a 1.5 compiler. His problem is with red5.jar(org/red5/server/api/IScope.class) whose class version is 50.0. It's all written there above. If he wants to use that .jar file he has to use 1.6. Or else recompile that .jar file with 1.5, if he has the sources. -
Class loading issue in 10.1.2? commons-codec
Hi All,
I'm attempting to deploy a pretty strait forward web application (wrapped in an EAR) that includes commons-codec-1.2.jar (used by axis2). The codec jar is included in the WEB-INF\lib directory but doesn't appear to be picked (I get a NoClassDefFoundError) up unless I copy it into the ...\system\appserver\oc4j\j2ee\home\applib directory? I'm guessing this is a weird classloader issue but I can't seem to find the codec jar in another location...
I can get around the problem but I was wondering if anyone had an explanation?

You need to set the search-local-classes-first attribute of element web-app-class-loader in file "orion-web.xml" to 'true' (the default is 'false') in order for OC4J to locate the "axis2" classes. Please refer to the White Paper, Classloading in OC4J (PDF):

We ran into this issue and have been trying to resolve since yesterday with no luck. I'm wondering if anybody else has encountered this and has any thoughts ...
We are trying to call the methods of the com.ibm.websphere.runtime.ServerName class in a utility class that is packaged into a jar and put onto the JVM classpath in WebSphere 6.1. And we are running into NoClassDefFound errors. So we just did Class.forName("com.ibm.websphere.runtime.ServerName") in that utility class and got the ClassNotFoundException as expected. But when we do the same in a separate utility class that is outside of the classpath, both the forName and the actual method calls work without any problem.
That kind of suggested that the com.ibm.websphere.runtime.ServerName class is not "available"(/loaded) by the time our utility class gets loaded, may be. So we turned on the Verbose Class Loading to see the order in which the classes are loaded when the JVM starts up. But the com.ibm.websphere.runtime.ServerName class is loaded way before our utility class from the jar in the classpath.
So I'm wondering:
Why would it give me a ClassNotFound exception in my utility class (which is put on the classpath) when the log shows that the utility class is already loaded by the time this class starts loading?
Any feedback or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It is true that our jar is being loaded by a different class loader, to which the ServerName class is not available. Also in one of the articles quoted in the responses, it mentioned specifying the jar in the ws.ext.dirs property, not in the classpath for the ws ext classes to be available to the jar. And that fixed the problem. We defined a custom property ws.ext.dirs and put the jar file in there.

Lion, UVC (universal video class) webcam issues
Prior to LION upgrade and then a clean install, I find the MS HD5000 and the MS HD6000 UVC compliant webcams are very over exposed. This was NOT a problem prior to the LION OS. Anyone find a work around or is experiencing this issue with LION? Using IGlasses helps, but he picutre is not what it was under Snow Leopard. Obviously something in LION has changed how the UVC is handled. Any help on this one would be appreciated!

So I am assuming all went well and that is the appropriate module for my webcam. However still no devices found in Skype. Maybe it is skype that needs some tweaking for it to recognize webcams.

CFOBJECT/class accessing issues

Recently I have upgraded from CFMX 7.0 to CF 9.0 and having problems or issues accessing a class file output where I am getting a "blank"
value. It is same code which is working with CF 7.0. I have registered the class file in CF 9.0 and re-started.
In the java class, I am connecting to Cognos to get the data/report. And the report is returned as a string value.
The code MyReportView.getDetails(sItemNumber); is returning a blank value, but it is still working with CF 7.0
Have tried running the class/method using the command prompt and getting the correct output on the 64 bit machine with CF 9.0
Any suggestions related to CF 9.0 or Cognos or anything related to CBOBJECT changes in CF 9.0 would be really helpful.

Understanding class instantiation
Given classes A, B, and C where B extends A and C extends B and where all classes implement the instance method void doIt(). A reference variable is instantiated as �A x = new B();� and then x.doIt() is executed. What version of the doIt() method is actually executed and why?
This says to me, I have just created an instance of B of class type A.
I think class B's doIt() method is the one executed because of that.
Does anyone have any insight into this?A static method can be replaced, which can look like overriding if you don't know the difference.

I was talking about a member inner class. Thanx anyway. Yahya's solution worked. Interesting thing is that the way I was instantiating it is mentioned in Java Sun Certified Programmer Book in Inner classes chapter. by Syngress. But that definitely seems to be a mistake.
