ClassCast Exception during EJB lookup

Context ctx = new InitialContext();
Object ref = ctx.lookup("MessageSender");
SenderHome senderHome= (SenderHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ref,SenderHome.class);
sender = senderHome.createSender();
where MessageSender is the JNDI name of bean.
The error is ::
java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sap.message.sender.SenderHome#
I have even tried SenderHome senderHome = (SenderHome)ref
bcos SenderHome is locally deployed. I have also tried with SenderLocalHome ,but it also gives ClassCast Exception.

Hi,
Have you tried to find out what the class actually is ?
<code>
Context ctx = new InitialContext();
Object ref = ctx.lookup("MessageSender");
Object objUnknown= PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ref,SenderHome.class);
System.out.println ("Class of object is :" +objUnknown.getClass());

  • EJB 3.0 JNDI lookup results in Classcast Exception

    Hello everybody,
    Im experiencing a strange problem when I want to retrieve a stateless session bean from a POJO in my enterprise app. I am using EJB 3.0, running on Glassfish build 33 and JDK 1.5.
    I have successfully deployed my ear file which has the EJB.jar and the war file in it. Im using JSF 1.2 in the web app and I am able to use all session beans using the injection annotation in my managed beans (this is how it is supposed to be according to the spec.). However, I now need to acces a stateless session bean from a POJO (non-managed or backing bean) which resides also in the war file. Im using the following code to retrieve the session bean:
    (where IMySessionBean = remote interface and MySessionBean is the implementation)
    try {
    ic = new InitialContext();
    MySessionBean mybean = (MySessionBean )ic.lookup("env/IMySessionBean");
    When casting the object from the lookup into MySessionBean I get a classcast Exception. However, I can see the session bean using the JNDI browser that comes with Glassfish and its deployed and available. If mybean is of type Object, I see that the lookup method returns a wrapper of my session bean.
    Heres what the stacktrace says:
    java.lang.ClassCastException: com.myproject.ejb.interfaces._IMySessionBean_Wrapper
         at ...
    Do I miss something here and theres more required to obtain a reference to the session bean? Im pretty much stuck here and any help is greastly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers,
    Joerg

    Hi Joerg,
    In the session bean client view, the bean implementation class is never used. The client
    only interacts with the local or remote interface.
    Regarding the lookup, the more portable approach is to
    lookup the ejb reference through the component environment of the web application
    rather than doing a direct global lookup. If you have already defined any ejb reference
    injections somewhere in the web app, you can look up the same dependencies via
    java:comp/env. For example, if your managed bean has the following @EJB annotation :
    @EJB(name="mybeanref") IMySessionBean beanRef;
    You can look up the same underlying dependency in your utility class :
    IMySessionBean beanRef = (IMySessionBean) new InitialContext().lookup
    ("java:comp/env/mybeanref");
    Note that the portion of the lookup string after java:comp/env/ comes from the name() attribute
    of @EJB. @EJB name() has the same semantics as the ejb-ref-name in the deployment
    descriptor. You can find more info on these topics in our EJB FAQ :

  • Error during JNDI lookup Accessing Remote EJB (access to web service restricted using declarative security model)

    Hello everyone,
    I developed a Web Service prototype accessing remote EJB using the EJB
    control with special syntax in the jndi-name attribute: @jws:ejb
    home-jndi-name="t3://10.10.245.70:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB"
    Everything works fine, but I get an error when I restrict access to my web
    service with a declarative security model by implementing steps provided in
    help doc:
    - Define the web resource you wish to protect
    - Define which security role is required to access the web resource
    - Define which users are granted the required security role
    - Configure WebLogic Server security for my web service(Compatibility
    Security/Users)
    I launch the service by entering the address in a web browser. When prompted
    to accept the digital certificate, click Yes, when prompted for network
    authentication information, enter username and password, navigate to the
    Test Form tab of Test View, invoke the method by clicking the button and I
    get the following exception:

    I have a simple Hello method as well in my WebService (which is also
    restricted) and it works fine, but remote EJB access doesn't. I tested my
    prototype on Weblogic 7.2 and 8.1 platforms - same result.
    Is that a bug or I am missing some additional configuration in order to get
    that working. Has anyone seen similar behavior? Is there a known resolution?
    Or a suggested way to work around the problem?
    Thank you.

    Andre,
    It would be best if this issue is handled as an Eval Support case. Please
    BEA Customer Support at http://support.beasys.com along with the required
    files, and request that an Eval support case be created for this issue.

    Andre,
    It seems you are using the URL
    jndi:t3://secuser1:[email protected]:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB
    whereas you should not be specifying the "t3:" protocol.
    The URL should be like
    jndi://secuser1:[email protected]:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB
    Please do let me know if you see any issues with this.
    Note that this will only allow you to access remote EJBs in the same WLS
    domain. For accessing EJBs on another domain, you need to configure
    inter-domain communication by
    following a few simple steps as mentioned at
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/ConsoleHelp/jta.html#1106135. This link has
    been provided in the EJB Control Workshop documentation.

    Andre,
    Can you try using the following url with username and password
    jndi://username:password@host:7001/my.resource.jndi.object ?
    once you add webapp level security, the authenticated is the user who
    invokes the EJB.
    http://e-docs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/workshop/guide/controls/ejb/con
    CreatingANewEJBControl.html?skipReload=true

  • EJB Lookup - ClassCastException

    Hi all,
    I have a very simple Stateless Session EJB, but I get a classcast exception when "narrowing" it. I have printed the class names:
    When looking up for "MessagesStore", the lookup returns a com.sun.corba.ee.internal.iiop.CDRInputStream_1_0$1
    object, therefore resulting in a java.lang.ClassCastException.
    When looking for "java:comp/env/ejb/MessagesStore", the lookup returns a com.sun.jndi.cosnaming.CNCtx object, also resulting in a java.lang.ClassCastException.
    Here are my deployment descriptors:
    ejb-jar.xml
    <enterprise-beans>
    <session>
    <display-name>MessagesStore</display-name>
    <ejb-name>MessagesStore</ejb-name>
    <home>com.prototypes.lb.core.ejb.MessagesStoreHome</home>
    <remote>com.prototypes.lb.core.ejb.MessagesStore</remote>
    <ejb-class>com.prototypes.lb.core.ejb.MessagesStoreEJB</ejb-class>
    <session-type>Stateless</session-type>
    <transaction-type>Bean</transaction-type>
    </session>
    </enterprise-beans>
    sun-ejb-jar.xml:
    <enterprise-beans>
    <ejb>
    <ejb-name>MessagesStore</ejb-name>
    <jndi-name>MessagesStore</jndi-name>
    </ejb>
    </enterprise-beans>
    Here's my client code:
    Properties env = new Properties();
    env.put("java.naming.factory.initial", "com.sun.jndi.cosnaming.CNCtxFactory" );
    env.put("java.naming.provider.url", "iiop://" + "localhost" + ":" + 3700 );
    Context ctx = new InitialContext(env);
    String jndi = "MessagesStore";
    Object objref = ctx.lookup( jndi );
    MessagesStoreHome home =
    (MessagesStoreHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow( objref, MessagesStoreHome.class );
    Any hint will be much appreciated.
    Dan

    If you deploy your Session EJB as a EJB module then you get error you described but if you deploy it as Enterprise Application then you can normally access your EJB.

  • Error During SOAP Lookup

    Hi,
    I'm perforing a SOAP Lookup as explained in the Blog: Webservice Calls From a User Defined Function.
    However when i am testing it in Test Tab in message mapping it is showing an error "com.sap.aii.mapping.lookup.LookupException: Exception during processing the payload.Problem when calling an adapter by using communication channel SOAP_RECV (Party: , Service: AA_BS_RECV, Object ID: 4fb8e1fbeb0e3213a3381de6f63d9542) XI AF API call failed. Cause Exception: 'Connection timed out:could be due to invalid address'."
    When i test it end to end teh Look up is not returning any Value
    Can you please let me know what could be the Error.
    Thanks,
    Bhargav

    Hi Chirag,
    I have checked the Target URL and it is correct.
    There are no proxy settings so i have not given any authentication details
    Thanks,

  • Server exception during PPR #1

    Hi,
    I use JDeveloper 11g and for the model component I use EJB 3. I want to use a list of values to show list of items from another table, but it doesn't work.
    I have this error: server exception during PPR #1.
    What's the pb?!
    Thank u

    Pb is the atomic symbol for the element Lead.
    It's also sometimes used as an abbreviation for Peanut Butter, as in "I'm eating a PB&J sandwich" to mean that I am eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
    However, I assume you mean the "problem."
    The problem is that some exception happens during the partial page request; it's quite likely to be in your code somewhere. Have you done any of the following:
    * Used the debugger to set a breakpoint on any code that runs so you can find the exception
    * Reviewed the WLS log files to see if there is a related stack trace?
    Best,
    john

    Hello,
    i have had the same problem
    /community [original link is broken]
    The problem is, that before you can install the JDI Online SC, you have to restart the J2EE Engine. After the restart you can complete your install. So just do the following:
    1.) Install JDI Offline and JDI Built tool.
    2.) restart the J2EE engine
    3.) install the JDI Online Component, which contains the CBS.
    regards,
    Markus

    Hello Anilkumar,
    Sorry for delay in reply as I was on out of work and didn't get chance to check the SDN forums.
    I was able to do it in latest version sneak preview 11.
    I think the problem with the version.

    I had a look at IndirectionValueHashtable class. It looks like the classcast is happening because the "handle-to-object" map has non String values.
    Could this be a corba compatabilty issue?
    The problem doesn't occur if I use weblogic initial context factory & t3 protocol.
    What is the best way to overcome this problem? I dont want to distribute weblogic.jar [from 8.1.5 server]. wlclient is okay.
    thanks

    One possible cause of this issue is that your JPD may have some non-transient field(s) which is/are not Serializable. Check for the warnings in the Workshop, that may point you to such fields.

  • InputListOfValues Server Exception during PPR, #1

    Hi,
    I'm trying to bind LOV to EJB Data Controls, but I get exception "Server Exception during PPR, #1 java.lang.NullPointerException" when user select a value from a list.
    I've seen a post with a similar problem with ADF BC, but the solution does not apply to EJB.
    Regards
    Jernej

    Here is a sample based on HR schema which reproduces my problem:
    https://demo.kase.si/files/adfdemo.zip
    Run locationsView.jspx
    If I only had ADF sources... I'm sure I'd figure it by now
    I've intercepted calls to LOVModel in managed bean. This is the object that is passed to valueSelected method:
    Name     Value     Type
    - o          RowKeySetImpl
    _default     false     boolean
    - _set     size 1     HashSet<Object>
    - [0]          Collections$SingletonList<java.lang.Object>
    - element          Key
    - mKeyValues          Object[1]
    - [0]     26     Integer
    value     26     int
    mHashCode     57     int
    - mRowHandle     55     Integer
    value     55     int
    mSignature     1205704007982     long
    modCount     0     int
    + _model          FacesCtrlHierBinding$FacesModel
    I have no idea what's the problem here. Maybe I could just implement my own valueSelected method... I just have to figure how to get value from this RowSet.
    So I implemented my own valueSelected method:
    public void valueSelected(Object object) {
    Object o = object;
    RowKeySet r = (RowKeySet)o;
    for (Iterator<Object> it = r.iterator(); it.hasNext(); ) {
    Object obj = it.next();
    AbstractList al=(AbstractList)obj;
    for(Object k:al) {
    Key key=(Key)k;
    Object[] objkeys=key.getKeyValues();
    TableModel t=this.getTableModel();
    CollectionModel m= t.getCollectionModel();
    Object row=m.getRowData(((Integer)objkeys[0]).intValue());
    FacesCtrlHierNodeBinding b=(FacesCtrlHierNodeBinding)row;
    countryIdId.setValue(b.getAttributeValue());
    When I thought I got it, I realized this changes id in Contries entity, not contryID in Locations :-(
    Must be something wrong with bindings...?
    Well, of course. My inputListOfValues is bound to contries, so I'm actually selecting a new cuntryId for Countries entity.
    Now I wonder... is there any way to bind inputListOfValues to
    @ManyToOne
    @JoinColumn(name = "COUNTRY_ID")
    private Countries countries;
    or do I have to implement this by hand?
