ClassCastException when using OlapiPoolConnDriver

Hi,
I was following the instructions of the connection pool sample given in file
sh_olap/bibeans/connectionpool/connectionPool.html
in the samples.
Everything is fine, the connection is fetched from the OlapiPoolConnDriver class.
But then, when my presentation on the JSP tries to issue the OLAP query, I get the following exception below. It seems that MDMConnectionDriverImpl_92 tries to cast
the connection to something (maybe OracleConnection), but when using the
connection pool the connection is actually of type com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerConnectionPoolConnection.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot
Kai-Uwe

Hi, this one's solved.
It was my mistake, I accidentally referred to the jdbc/OLAPConnection1PooledDS
insted of the jdbc/OLAPConnection1CoreDS. This is why I got the evermind..blbla.
connection.
Mea culpa ... mea culpa ... mea maxima culpa
Hang on and thanks to all who had a look at it.

  • ClassCastException when using javax.xml.soap.DetailEntry

    I am using the Java Web Services development pack and I'm getting a ClassCastException when trying to use a DetailEntry object.
    My code is basically as follows:
    SOAPFault fault = responseSoapBody.getFault();
    Detail detail = fault.getDetail();
    Iterator iterator = detail.getDetailEntries();
    DetailEntry entry = (DetailEntry)iterator.next(); //exception!!
    Exception:
    java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sun.xml.messaging.saaj.soap.dom4j.TextImpl
    The object being returned from the Iterator seems to be a TextImpl. In my CLASSPATH are the jars in the lib directory under <JWSDP>\jwsdp-1_0_01\common\lib.
    Any idea why I'm getting this Exception? Is this a bug in the JWSDP, or in my code?

  • ClassCastException when using DefaultTableModel.getValueAt to get data

    Hi,
    I'm using JTable to display,add and edit customers informantion in my project, the properties of each customer is displayed in corresponding cloumns in one row. The properies consist of id(Integer), name(String)...etc, it works fine when I set and get the properties of existing customer information into the DefaultJTableModel(dm for short) of the table I created, but when I added the new row using dm.addRow() and get the information typed in manually, an exception of ClassCastException was raised
    here is the way I created JTable columns,and added a new row
    DefaultJTableModel md =(DefaultJTableModel ) this.jTable.getModel();
    md.addColumn("ID");
    md.addColumn("Name");
    md.addRow(new Object[]{
    Integer.valueOf("1"),
    "A"
    } )then I captured mousecliked event of an Add button to add a new row in the table as bellow
    md.addRow(new Object[]{null}) // as there's no need to initialize each column of each new row ,i used null instead of new Object[]{default id, default name};after editing the new row added to the table I captured the mouse cliked event of an Save button to save the added row which I wanted to write back to an bean
    Customer c=new Customer()
    c.setId((Integer)md.getValueAt(0,0));
    c.setName((String)md.getValueAt(0,1));
    c=new Customer()
    c.setId((Integer)md.getValueAt(1,0)); // here is the point which caused the ClassCastExcption happened
    c.setName((String)md.getValueAt(1,1));the exception message is
    java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String cannot be cast to java.lang.Integer
    It seems the newRow() method set all the columns of a new row to the type of String,
    my question is how can I set the data type of a column in the table?

    When you edit a table cell, JTable writes your edit back into the model. Most of the time, editing means entering text, so obviously, JTable will write a String into your model. JTable might be able to handle simple conversions such as String to Integer, but at the very least you would have to tell the table that you want only Integers in your column by implementing [TableModel.getColumnClass|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/swing/table/TableModel.html#getColumnClass(int)] appropriately. I honestly don't remember if the table can do this, though. If it can't, you probably need to either use a custom editor that converts the user entered text into an appropriate object or you need to use a custom model that handles the conversion in its setValue method.

    Turned out that I had a version of xsltc.jar in my WEB-INF/lib. When I removed it the problem went away.So I'm sure it had to do with a library mismatch. I am using JBoss 4.1.

    Some pages use <jbo:> tags, some use pagedefs etc. When the DataControls.cpx file is not in a package, I can reference it with <jbo:ApplicationModule> tag.
    I know it's not designed for this, but we cannot just rewrite whole app and we want to use new technologies... Maybe anyone else has same problem and has a solution...

  • ClassCastException when using IXC

    Has anyone run into this problem? I'm exporting an object using the IxcRegistry operation. Another Xlet is obtaining a handle to that object using IxcRegistry.lookup. I am able to call methods that the object implements however when returning a value, other than a standard java object (meaning, something I've created) it will give me a ClassCastException.

    I assume you're defining a remote method M, and M's return type is an object that you've defined ("something I've created", in your statement). Invoking M through the handle is causing you ClassCastException.
    IXC can only take primitives, Remote objects, and Serializable objects for the parameter type and return type of the remote methods. Could it be that an java object you've defined does not implement either java.rmi.Remote or java.io.Serializable?

    That is correct; WLS 5.1 does not support the updating of these helper classes.
              In WLS 6.0, you can package everything up as a web application or enterprise
              application and redeploy the whole thing (including the helper classes)...

    The problem doesn't look like it has anything to do with wappers per se. The stack indicates that the JVM died when the persistent store tried to invoke a standard Java synchronize operation. JVM crashes need to be analyzed by a JVM expert, so I second the suggestion to solicit help from JVM experts and/or filing a case with customer support. In the mean-time, you can probably work-around the issue by either (A) ensuring you have a recent version of the JVM installed, or (B) temporarily switching to the Sun JVM.

    We are invoking a SOAP service via a com.bea.control.ServiceControl that was generated from a WSDL (right click WSDL, Generate Service Control) using Weblogic 8.1.6.
    SOAP service execution is successful using an http and https endpoint. • Java.lang.ClassCastException when trying to retrive a jdbc/OracleDS

    Hello friends, I'm experiencing a rare problem, "java.lang.ClassCastException" when trying to retrive the jdbc/OracleDS datasource using JNDI lookup, the exception is there, either, when running in the embebed OC4J from JDev 10.1.3.3 or when deploying (the War) to my OracleIAS (10.1.2). Actualy we are programing the DataSource and changing the URL each time we update the application (in both environment: Developer and Production), it is just a temporary "work around" while we find the real solution.
    We can't Cast a Oracle Object (oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource) to the java DataSource. Why?
    Here you have the story:
    The application wa started in Eclipse 3.2 with Tomcat 5, and we are using Struts 1.1 and Hibernate 3, in this environment we don't have problems. the problem happens during deploying the application to our Orace AS 10g (10.1.2). When googling for solution we found related problems in some forums, so we tried all the solutions explained in that post, including this. Finaly, we failed to find the solution.
    After that, we migrate the application to JDeveloper 10.1.3.3, and then try the JNDI lookup and the problem STAY, then we did everything again into JDev:
    - Changed the default jdk from 1.5 to 1.4.2_06, for the projects, the embebed OC4J and the Java Compiler....
    - Configuring the DataSource manualy in the xml.
    - Testing with several jdk version, trying on embebed oc4j, standalone oc4j, Oracle IAS, and so on.
    - We have tried everything we found in the posts.
    But .... the problem still :'(.
    We have found that some guys have solved the problems with the change of the jdk and other small stuff, but all that were not enough for us.
    Have somebody found other solution for this problem or we have some alien problem here?.
    Thanks in advance.

    Fer Domin, thanks by your replay.
    The answer for your question is, YES. We have tried with several DataSource types in the Oracle side (app server,embebed oc4j, standalone oc4j) and the app side (java). Also, all jdbc datasource extend the javax.sql.DataSource .. so it's rare to have this error when doing a simple jndi lookup.
    We tried deploying a small app (from Oracle) to test the DataSource in the app server (10.1.2.0.2) and it was working well. But we don't know which jdk was used to package that ear/war (I mean the TestDS small app).
    So, everything look like we are having a jdk compatibility problem ... but we don't know which it's or where it's.... because we configure JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 to use the same jdk, even for compiling and running the embebed oc4j and the problem still.
    Thanks again.

  • Working around unchecked conversions when using reflection

    I think I've convinced myself that there's no way around this issue when using reflection and Generics, but here's the issue:
    Suppose I've got a method that uses reflection to compare an arbitrary property in
    an arbitrary pair of beans (of the same class).
    public static <T> int compare(T bean0, T bean1, String prop) throws Exception {
         Method m = bean0.getClass().getMethod(
                   "get" + prop.substring(0,1).toUpperCase() +
                   prop.substring(1));
         Object o0 = m.invoke(bean0);
         Object o1 = m.invoke(bean1);
         if (o0 instanceof Comparable &&
             o1 instanceof Comparable &&
             (o1.getClass().isAssignableFrom(o0.getClass()) ||
              o0.getClass().isAssignableFrom(o1.getClass()))) {
              return ((Comparable)o0).compareTo(o1); // compiler warning
         } else {
              return o0.toString().compareTo(o1.toString());
    }There's no way that, in general, when using reflection to invoke methods, that you can coerce the types to avoid compile-time type safety warnings. I think the above code is guarranteed not to throw a runtime ClassCastException, but there's no way to write the code so that the compiler can guarrantee it. At least that's what I think. Am I wrong?

    Ok it looks like you're dealing with a classloader issue. when you call that method, it is the equivelant of calling
    Class.forName("Box", true, this.getClass().getClassLoader())The exception is thrown when your class's classloader cannot find the class box. try putting 'null' there
    Class.forName("Box", true, null)and it will request the bootstrap classloader to load the class. just make sure you have permission :
    If the loader is null, and a security manager is present, and the caller's class loader is not null, then this method calls the security manager's checkPermission method with a RuntimePermission("getClassLoader") permission to ensure it's ok to access the bootstrap class loader. • ClassCastException while using @NamedStoredProcedureQuery

    Hi,
    I'm doing some testing with the TopLink JPA extensions and I'm getting a ClassCastException when executing a stored procedure. The procedure gets executed though.
    The procedure is called testjeroen2 in the jeroen package and uses an IN parameter that is an empno.

    public class EmpRs {
    private int empno;
    @Id
    public int getEmpno() {
    return empno;
    public void setEmpno(int empno) {
    this.empno = empno;
    My unit test:
    public void testSp() throws Exception {
    EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager();
    Query query = em.createNamedQuery("remove_employee");
    query.setParameter("employee_id",5558);
    query.getResultList(); //oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CPreparedStatement cannot be cast to java.sql.CallableStatement
    // query.getSingleResult(); //oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CPreparedStatement cannot be cast to java.sql.CallableStatement
    // query.executeUpdate(); //You cannot call executeUpdate() on this query. It is the incorrect query type.
    To execute the query I use the getResultList method and tried the getSingleResult and executeUpdate method. I put the errors I got in the comments next to the lines of code I tried.
    Is getResultList the preferred way to execute a stored procedure?
    Thanks for your help!

    thanx mate for the reply,
    i am sure that i am storing the same object in the vector.
    first of all I tried the same code by writing small class same as yours & it worked fine so i implemented in my real implementation class. But it still gives me classCastException i am not able to understand it why???? Actually my Product class is a stateless session bean(hope u know EJB)
    so actually i am storing a remote reference i.e(product)in my vector.But i dont think this should be a problem...

  • How to handle type safety when using com.sap.typeservices.IProposalList

    Hi,
    I have been testing out the new features in Web Dynpro Java CE EHP1 using a scenario with BPM and SAP MDM. One of the new features I tested is the Ajax feature of using suggestion values. I have an InputField UI element which have bound to a context attribute (CountriesView/Country) which is of type string. The UI element has the "suggestValues" value set to true. I then use the IProposalList to produce a valueset. This will make the InputField UI appear as a combo box and allow the users to type in a few characters and utilize the Ajax framework to automatically search in the list of values.
    The following code works perfectly ok but I don't understand how I should handle the compiler warning "IProposalList is a raw type. References to generic type IProposalList<T> should be parameterized"?
    IProposalList proposalsCountry = wdContext.nodeCountriesView().getNodeInfo().getAttribute(IPrivateComp1.ICountriesViewElement.COUNTRY).getModifiableSimpleType().getSVServices().getProposals();
    for(int i=0;i<bua.length;i++){
        IPrivateComp1.ICountriesViewElement buaelement=wdContext.createCountriesViewElement();
        buaelement.setCountry(bua<i>[0]);
        buaelement.setCode(bua<i>[1]);
        bualist.add(buaelement);
        proposalsCountry.add(bua<i>[0]);
    wdContext.nodeCountriesView().bind(bualist);
    I don't have any issues handling this for other types such as ArrayList. Using the syntax "IProposalList<String> proposalsCountry ...." will handle the "proposalsCountry.add .." part but I still have a warning "Type safety: The expression of type IProposalList needs unchecked conversion to conform to IProposalList<String>"
    Any ideas on how to handle this?
    Thanks,
    Johan

    Hi,
    Eventhough there are no replies to this thread I thought I should update with what I belive is an answer to my question. Excerpt from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/382/what-is-the-meaning-of-the-type-safety-warning-in-certain-java-generics-casts:
    "This warning is there because Java is not actually storing type information at runtime in an object that uses generics. Thus, if 'object' is actually a List<String>, there will be no ClassCastException at runtime except until an item is accessed from the list that doesn't match the generic type defined in the variable. This can cause further complications if items are added to the list with this incorrect generic type information. Any code still holding a reference to the list but with the correct generic type information will now have an inconsistent list. To remove the warning, try:
    List<?> list = (List<?>) object;However, note that you will not be able to use certain methods such as add because the compiler doesn't know if you are trying to add an object of incorrect type. The above will work in a lot of situations, but if you have to use add or some similarly restricted method, you will just have to suffer the yellow underline in Eclipse (or a SuppressWarning annotation)."
    The last line explain the reason for my issue and the lack of a solution when using add method.
    /Johan
