CLASSPATH configuration for jsp (java stored procedures)

Hi.
I have a very simple question for you people.
I don't know where to set up the CLASSPATH configuration on a HP-UX so that Aurora can see this include jar file and my java stored procedure can run correctly.

The way global variables could be created using java classes is by using static variables.The class variable values are stored in the JVM's memory
In Oracle8i Each session gets its own JVM & hence you cannot have a Java class variable which could
span across sessions.

Legal Java Stored Procedure method parameters

Hi,
I'm trying to establish whether Java arrays can be returned from Java Stored Procedures. It seems that I can only return single length (i.e. 1) arrays which is highly restrictive.
If I am creating a Java Stored Proc that will be called from pure Stored Proc land, and my JavaSP could raise a number of exceptions I'm avoiding this and instead trying to return an "error status" as a parameter that the caller can query. i.e. I want the "error status" to be an array of (3) strings including a severity, an error number, and a string containing the Java exception.
Is there a way to do this without requiring all my methods to have 3 String[] parameters, one for each part of the error status? Or is there a better way?

Hi,
You could consider using object types to store your exception information. In that case you will have to use JPublisher to map the sql types to java types. JPublisher enables you to specify and customize the mapping of SQL object types, object reference types, and collection types (VARRAYs or nested tables) to Java classes.

Issue with sending mail through java stored procedure in Oracle

I am using Oracle 9i DB. I created a java stored procedure to send mail using the code given below. The java class works fine standalone. When its run from Java, mail is sent as desired. But when the java stored procedure is called from pl/sql "Must issue a STARTTLS command first" error is thrown. Please let me know if am missing something. Tried the same code in 11.2.0.2 DB and got the same error

Thanks for the reply. Actually I have seen that post before creating this thread. I thought that I could make use of java mail to work around this problem. I created a java class that succesfully sends mail to SSL host. I tried to call this java class from pl-sql through java stored procedure. That did not work
So, is this not supported in Oracle ? Please note that I have tested this in both 9i and 11g , in both the versions I got the error. You can refer to the code in the above post.

Publishing JSP form JAVA stored procedure [Oracle8i 8.1.7]

Hi folks,
I wonder if anybody knows a way to publish JSP from JAVA stored procedure.
I know there is a way to load java class using PL/SQL package DBMS_JAVA.loadjava(), or
oracle.aurora.server.tools.loadjava.LoadJavaMain.serverMain() from java.
But I need somthing like publishjsp to translate the JSP.
Also would be nice if I can invoke this from a LOB where I have stored my JSP.
Any ideas?

I managed to find out what I was doing wrong.
First when you call a stored procedure that is in a package and is a method of a class. You call it referencing the packagename.method. Leaving out the class name. Also, since this was a method that returns a value. The return value has to be assigned to a variable or used in an sql statement. Such as:

The wizard indicated that everything deployed properly. However when I try to call the procedure/method "IP" from sql*plus I get the following message: ORA-06576: not a valid function or procedure name. I double checked to make sure that I'm publishing the "IP" method and I still get the same error. I also tried calling the procedure with the schema.class.procedure form, still same error.
Can anyone help?

You'd better have a recent version of MySQL, because earlier ones didn't support stored procs.
If your MySQL and driver support stored procs, maybe you just need a JDBC stored proc tutorial.

Utilizing a java stored procedure for web services

Hello,
I am a newbie in web services and I want to learn web services by utilizing a simple procedure and making use as a web service.
I have a java stored procedure deployed in Oracle 8i database, which I am using for sending emails. I am invoking the java stored procedure in my JSP and Java classes by making a database connection and calling the procedure.
I am planning to make this a web service so that I could call this from any of my application.
Could someone give an insight how to make this a web service, albeit the utility is not very complex and my knowledge about web services is limited, I thought I could start by doing a simple program.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Problem in running a java stored procedure&optimum settings for this needed

we are using java stored procedures to read huge data from database tables and transfer them to another system.
the procedure is running fine but it fails after transferring 60000 records, the execution of procedure here does not terminate but keeps running with out performing any data transfer....since it does not give any error it is difficult for us to know what the actual problem is !!!!!!
i have checked the code many a time and i dont see any infinite loops in that code.
please give any pointers on why this might be happening?
please also give all the parameters which need to be taken care of while running a java stored procedure

Never reports validation errors in the XML. Although the XDK Programmers Guide states "...you can use
the oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder class to build an XML schema and
then configure the parser to use it by invoking the XMLParser.setXMLSchema()
method. In this case, the XML parser automatically sets the validation mode to
SCHEMA_STRICT_VALIDATION and ignores the schemaLocation and
noNamespaceSchemaLocation attributes." No validation seems to occur. I have tried to set an xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation attribute on the root XML node, but this results in URL errors if the URL is not valid or schema build errors if the URL is valid, but does not point to a real location.
It appears that without a schema location attribute, no schema validation occurs. Using setXMLSchema() with a database source does not seem to cause the schema location attributes to be ignored. At least for Java stored procedures.
Does XML Schema validation work in the database for externally referenced schemas?

Try this:
Edit your XSU installation script located on lib directory of Oracle XSU's distribution:
Find the line:
loadjava -r -v -u $USER_PASSWORD xmlparserv2.jar
Replace by:
loadjava -r -v -g public -u $USER_PASSWORD xmlparserv2.jar
And installs your Oracle XSU again.

Missing Imports in Java stored Procedure

When loading a java stored procedure into the above database I am seeing the following errors:-
Class javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilder not found in import.
Class javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory not found in import.
Class javax.xml.parsers.FactoryConfigurationError not found in import.
Class javax.xml.parsers.ParserConfigurationException not found in import.
Class org.xml.sax.EntityResolver not found in import.
Class org.xml.sax.InputSource not found in import.
Class org.xml.sax.SAXException not found in import.
Class org.xml.sax.SAXParseException not found in import.
Class org.w3c.dom.Document not found in import.
Interface ErrorHandler of class CMSLogic not found.
However, the process results in no errors when running against a database running on a Windows platform.
Assistance would be appreciated.

Package "javax.xml" is part of the JDK since version 1.4
However, Oracle 9i is compatible with JDK 1.3
So either you need to find a 3rd-party implementation of package "javax.xml" that is compatible with JDK 1.3, or upgrade your database to Oracle 10g, which is compatible with JDK 1.4

Problem with static vars of SQLJ java stored procedure

When I'm calling a PL/SQL stored procedure that call a Java stored procedure from another Java stored procedure, the second call to the Java stored procedure does not see the first Java stored procedure static variables.
Why is that?
Can I configure it to work otherwise so all the Java stored procedure calls in this session will share the same static variables?

Remove your ; at the end of the sql string.
String sql = "SELECT VERSION_OFA FROM XX_PARAMETERS";
I don't know why JDev accept the ; at the end of string in a prepare statement but AFAIK its not legal.
If your are using the SQL pane of JDev may be the tool strip the ; for you.

Using JNDI from Java Stored Procedures

we want to call external services (mostly via middle tier/J2EE) from within the database (9i Rel. 2) using Java Stored Procedures and JNDI.
Does anybody have some hints/samples how to do this? Will we have to use oc4jclient.jar? If yes, how? Where can I find some more detailed documentation?

Updating tables from Java Stored Procedures

"Oracle8i Tips & Techniques" says that Java Stored Procedures "should not modify any database tables" when called from Data Manipulation Language (DML) SQL (e.g. selects).
I have a need to do this.
Does any one know if I can call my Java from a PL/SQL stored procedure which is called from the DML SQL (e.g. via a function). That is to say java called from PL/SQL called from DML-SQL, or is this just hopeful thinking.

Java stored procedures and referencing classes

We are referencing to some classes/libraries which are not present in the database. In normal java world, you specify the libraries/classes needed to run your piece of code in the CLASSPATH and that forms part of your complete code.
Can java stored procedures in the database refer to libraries or class files it requires on the file system rather than the database? Is it possible to make this happen?

Java Stored Procedures and Sockets

We need to synchronize data real time b/w Oracle and the legacy HP3000 system.
For sending data from Oracle to HP3000 we are thinking of using Sockets.
We dont know whether a socket connection can be established from the Oracle database level or need to be from the OS level(here Linux)
I heard that Java stored procedures(JSP) can establish socket connection.
Can someone provide me pointers regarding
(a) setting up socket connection from the database
(b) possibility of transferring data via sockets and using jdbc, and how to send data efficiently and if it is wise

I don't have much experience with Lite, but I'm running 9i Personal Edition. Any information about triggers can be found in the "ALL_TRIGGERS" view. You will want to filter out any rows where OWNER = 'SYS' unless you created your triggers as SYS. As for procedures and functions, you can see what you have created in the "ALL_OBJECTS" view where OBJECT_TYPE = 'PROCEDURE' or 'FUNCTION', once again filtering out rows where OWNER = 'SYS'. To see the code of any procedure or function, select substr(text,1,80) from ALL_SOURCE where NAME = 'function name' ORDER BY LINE.
