Classpath error in portal application

Hi
first problem
when i am going to deploy the sample portal application for example displaying the "Hello world" message in the output, so i am getting the classpath error as displayed below.
"The project was not built due to classpath errors(imcomplete or involved in cycle)"
can any one help where should i change the classpath and all to deploy the portal application successfully".
second problem
when i am going to write the code in the dynpage in the portal for example
suppose if i want to add group to form then i type
formobjectname.groupname;
when i press . the entire list of possiblites are not apperaing in the list.
pls help on this two.

Dear Sunil,
To answer your second question first:
You ae'nt getting the list of methods/possibilities because the correct package/class is not imported. e.g. If you do not include com.sap.security.api.* you will not get the list of methods associated with any class falling under that package.
The first problem: I really suggest that you download classlocator from sourceforge.net. It is easily plugges into NWDS. Double Click the error message and see it completely. I guess you would get one more message stating which class cannot be found. Once you install Class locator, you can easily type the class in the application and it will automatically add that Jar file in your classpath thus solving your issue.

Java class reference error in Portal Application

Hello,
I have created a Portal Application Project with the Class
"public class TEST extends AbstractTestComponent implements ITestable"
in order to test the application.
The test works fine with a simple code.
Instead, using the external class HSSFWorkbook in order to create an excel file, the Enterprise Portal Unit Test return the following error:
"java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/poi/hssf/usermodel/HSSFWorkbook"
I have tried to put the ZIP file of class into the folder "dist/PORTAL-INF/lib" and "dist/PORTAL-INF/exlib" but it doesn't work.
Can someone tell me what I have to do?

Hi,
note that a portal application has two classloaders. one for the public part (src.api) and one for the private one (src.core).
portal components reside in src.core by default. this means you need to load your jar file to the private class loader.
so instead of dist/PORTAL-INF/lib use dist/PORTAL-INF/private/lib

Error in portal application for sending email.

I am trying an portal application which sends email .

Classpath error in webdynpro application

Hi All,
Currently I am using NWDS7.0.16, and I created webdypro application which connect to BI System by make use of BI- XMLA connector. for that I added all required jar file in JavaBuild path. but when i try to build the application I am getting error like:
The project was not built since its classpath is incomplete. Cannot find the class file for javax.resource.cci.Connection. Fix the classpath then try rebuilding this project.
This compilation unit indirectly references the missing type javax.resource.cci.Connection (typically some required class file is referencing a type outside the classpath) TestView.java test/gen_wdp/packages/com/test
Could anybody help me please......

The reference location of jar file has been changed, so reimport that jar file and build your application.

Server error in '/portal' application??

I am getting this error everytime i'm trying to print a pdf document from the bsnl portal. Earlier, this used to open the save file dialog.
In the previous versions (i mean, 22, 23) this was not present.
I am trying to confirm that is it firefox issue or the bsnl's problem?

This happens after paying my bsnl broadband bill online and clicking the print button for the receipt.
So, i'll try your solution next month cause i already paid this month bill. I'll try it on the new version 26 or hopefully 27 and check if this solved.
I'll also notify the bsnl about this server error but knowing them they will just blame it on my system and firefox and tell me to use IE (Which is just there cause it comes with Windows and required to open some government sites).

my guess is that in the case of an empty <email> element, your textEmailList reference should already be null (you should also have the "null !" output in your error stream), so a NPE will be inevitable in the line
Email = ((Node)textEmailList.item(0)).getNodeValue().trim();
In order to prevent that, you could simply put the three lines below the if() {} construct in an else {} block:

Configuring runtime classpath for portal applications?

G'day,
I've got a portal application that uses the classes found in system/kernel.jar and system/frame.jar. When I build the portal application in the IDE I can add these to the build path as external jars, but when I run the portal application I get "class not found" errors.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/engine/core/Framework
So ... how do I add these jar files to the portal application's runtime classpath?

Jar files are required in two ways:
For Design time: User external jars(as you have done)
For Run time: Put the jar files in the lib folder(this way the par/ear ) itself will contain the jar files.
Right click the project - >properties->java build path->libraries-> Add Jars (and not Add External Jars)->select your project->dist->PORTAL-INF->lib->select the jar file.

Error while Creating a basic portal application using JDeveloper

1. Did you just created a new wcp application in jdev and ran it with out doing any changes? If you have done what are the changes?
2. How did you ran your application? (right clicking a particular page or right clicking your portal project and selected "run" option?

I solved this error by myself as follows:
So, what I did was; I started the RemoteGui.bat (C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\SDM\program) and from the Undeployment tab, I selected mainapp01 and com.sap.engine.docs.examples.
The reason I undeployed the above applications was because when I was trying to deploy the mainapp01 application, it gave an error saying that : Cannot deploy application pcbp.com/mainapp01.. Reason: Application alias [/] for application [pcbp.com/mainapp01] already exists in the HTTP Provider Service. The application that holds this alias is [sap.com/com.sap.engine.docs.examples .
And, then I restarted the J2EE engine and from the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio, I again deployed the mainapp01 application on the local J2EE engine and it was deployed successfully.

Consuming external Web Service in portal application:Error URL.getProtocol

I implemented a portal application which consums a external Web Service with NWDS 7.2.
The Webservice access works fine when I test it in a Java-Main Class.
If I deploy the application in a portal then I get the error:
java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method java.net.URL.getProtocol() of an object loaded from local variable 'tmpUrl'
It seems that my service_client-class has the problem to call the wsdl if the application is in portal:

I got the same error. In my case I used an Enterprise Application Project for the developement of my Portal Service. The portal service itself was calling an external webservice.
The reason in my case lies behind the generation of the EAR-File with the NetWeaver Developer Studio). Inside the generated EAR-File the WSDL-File was always missing. In consequence "
java.net.URL tmpUrl = SERVICEClient.class.getClassLoader().getResource
              ("wsdl/com/sap/test/SERVICE.wsdl");" is always "NULL".
and "tmpUrl.getProtocol()" leads to the NullPointerException.
So I copied my wsdl-folder / package with the wsdl-file inside the {application}.ear / {application}.war / WEB-INF / private / lib / {application}.jar and everything works fine:-)

PS: Today I found a better way without copying the wsdl-file into the EAR-File. I just didn't use the Enterprise Application Project for the developement of portal services anymore. If you look inside the generated EAR-File, you can see, that you can develop the portal service also by using a simple Dynamic Web Project wrapped by an Enterprise Application Project:-)
(Rem.: Don't miss the portalapp.xml deployment descriptor).
If you deploy the Enterprise Project the WSDL-File is always inside the generated EAR-File :-)

Error while running the portal application

Hi All,
I have made one sample portal application in Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8.When I build this application it is successfully build.Now when I start the server of Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8 and try to run the project ,the browser opens and gives the following error::
HTTP Status 404 - /portlet/
type Status report
message /portlet/
description The requested resource (/portlet/) is not available.
Sun-Java-System/Application-Server
If anyone having idea about this problem then please let me know.All suggestions are welcome.

OK, so they are not in the mood for posting on the forum today :-)
They suggest three things.
1) Restart the server. Deploying a portlet requires some configuration changes, which will take effect only after the server is restarted. Thus if it failed to restart due to some reason...
2) Try deleting the JSE userdir and trying again.
3) If the above two items do not help. Start the studio with the following command:runide.exe -J-Dcom.sun.tools.ide.portletbuilder.log=log,info try the deployment and either post here or email the output which will be output to the console.

this is a portal application problem - nothing to do with this forum. Anyway - you can try by changing your component-config portion in portalapp.xml and see whether it works or not.
Your current component config is like below
