CLASSPATH issues on DOS/NT and loading of jar files

Hello all,
I have the following problem on running WebLogic 5.1 on
NT. The CLASSPATH is getting truncated after a certain number of
characters. I have a lot of third party jar files that I use in my
application. How do I overcome this problem ? I tried increasing my DOS
environment space by changing the default values in config.sys.
What are other alternatives ?
One idea that I have is to use URLClassLoader to load the jar files. I
am running a RMI based application and I need to load these jar files
before I load the RMI code. Where would I run this URLClassLoader code
? Is there some system startup class that can load jar files ?
Thanks,
Aswin.

Thanks for the reply. I much appreciate it. What about the other idea that I
had outlined-loading these jar files using a ClassLoader. Is that viable ?
Aswin.

You still will not be able to have a command line exceeding a certain size
(around 1k or so). That is a hardcoded limit somewhere inside the NT kernel
("kernel" being a poor term for the piece so named in NT ;-).

    I'm not sure I follow your words Fuzzynormal. You've helped by offering the insight that my issue in Logic Pro 9 is not a bug but a feature. But fell short of enlightenment by being a judge of character and of how one should interact in this forum. You insinuate that I haven't tried to solve the issue on my own when in fact I have. These forums are always my last resort. You further suggest that I am complaining. This is not a complaint. It is a genuine issue that I cannot figure out. Then you think that Brazeca is holding my hand and being a nice guy. Brazeca is helping people like me who might not be as adept at using Logic Pro as probably you are.This community forum was established to raise questions, answers and dicussion to help Apple's customers better undertand their operating systems and related issues. • How can i set the dos can compile and excute the jar file?please help?

    How can i set the dos prompt can compile my .java file and execute my jar file.

    Go to where you downloaded your Java SDK. Look around for a button labled "Installation." Click the button. Download the installation instructions. Read them. Then read them again.

  • I want to save and load the swf-file to a local disk of any user. Possible?

    Hi, It's good to see you.
    I am a developer in Web Flash Game.( I use AS3.0 )
    I want to save and load the swf-file to a local disk of any user,
    Because I want to decrease the time for loading a flash movie from site.
    Is it possible?
    If it is possible, I hope the swf-file has only one loading from site and
    it will be loaded from a local disk of any user after that.
    (I know a concept of Internet temporary file.
    I want to know the other techniques of only using AS3.0.)

    Hi,
    I have similar problem. We are producing a 70 meg browser based game and would like the user to be able to cache the game to avoid reloading the game the next time. Can this be done if the user authorise the save? If, so how? We don't care where the game is cached .
    Can we prompt the user to download the file by providing a link from within the SWF application?

  • How to load a Jar file in the class path?

    How to load a Jar file which contains class files, images, etc.. in the classpath without using URLClassLoader.

    You don't "load" jars. If it's on the classpath, you can obtain individual resources from it using various methods on either Class or ClassLoader. Do you mean "how to add a jar to the classpath at runtime"? Can't be done without using a classloader, typically URLClassLoader or a subclass thereof. Why you want to not use the proven method is beyond me. Presumably because you don't understand classloading. In which case, forget it.

    Hi John,
    Thanks for your help. I unpacked the jar and rhen re-jared it with -0 (uncompress ) option. The above error is gone. But I am getting another problem. I am getting the following error for all the classes except the property files.

    Hi,
    Check whether the file is open? close the file and try to pull once again.
    Fields are matching with the data source? check it once. it should be in sync with MData fields.
    and may be the problem with data...I think some Extra permitted chars / lower case is there in flat file. this can be solved by RSKC

  • Error while loading the jar file using loadjava

    Hi,
    I'm trying to load a jar file in to a database through the loadjava utility. First time when i loaded a jar file it created few public synonyms with /'s. like /5b3d7f97_BeanInfoIndexer.
    Now i want to drop these synonyms before i reload the jar file with loadjava.
    If i use DROP PUBLIC SYNONYM /5b3d7f97_BeanInfoIndexer; it gives the following error...
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended
    I wonder how to drop these synonyms. I have to drop all these synonyms to freshly load the jar file.
    Thanks
    Shiva

    You can include the synonym names in double quotes in the drop synonym command. But it is not a good idea to drop the synonyms(which have been created by loadjava) using drop synonym command. Instead, you can use dropjava command which will automatically drop all the synonyms created by the loadjava command.

  • How to synamically choose and load a JAR at runtime

    Hi all,
    I have an application that uses an API to communicate with a backend system. There are five API jars that each support a different version of the backend system.
    I want to be able to select the jar at runtime. I can't put each in my CLASSPATH because they are not compatible.
    I need to either edit the CLASSPATH at runtime (which I don't think I can do) or pick and load the appropriate JAR into the class loader.
    I know how to load individual classes into the class loader but can't find anything for a complete JAR. Anybody have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Shane

    Hi,
    Even I was facing same kind of problem. And I used URLClassLoader to load the classes from the jars. I've a Context class which has parameterized constructor and which is used to create a context to connect to back-end.
    But when I try to execute, I get
    <Error>
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: matrix/db/Context

    at com.validator.Validator.validateMigration(Validator.java:52)
    at com.validator.Validator.main(Validator.java:120)
    </Error>
    This is a piece of code which is giving error. EProjectClassLoader is a subclass of URLClassLoader which has only one method findClass which calls the findClass of URLClassLoader.
    <code>
    EProjectClassLoader epldr = new EProjectClassLoader(epClsPathList);
    System.out.println("Loader Created == "+epldr);
    Class[] classtypes = {String.class, String.class};
    //Class ctxClass = epldr.loadClass("matrix.db.Context");
    Class ctxClass = epldr.findClass("matrix.db.Context");
    System.out.println("Class Loaded ==== "+ctxClass);
    Constructor cnstr = ctxClass.getConstructor(classtypes);
    System.out.println("Constructor Created === "+cnstr);
    Object[] params = {"", rmiServer};
    Object obj = cnstr.newInstance(params);
    System.out.println("Instance Created ===== "+obj);
    context = (Context) obj;
    System.out.println("Context ===== "+context);
    context.setUser(user);
    context.setPassword(pwd);
    context.connect();
    System.out.println("Context created ===== "+context.getUser());
    </code>
    I'm getting error when I typecast the object back to Context.

  • "bc4j.xcfg" file not in classpath  (and not in JAR file)

    Hi, this is a very similar problem to one reported today. I have created a JClient application that connects to a DB and displays some info in a JFrame. Running the application through JDeveloper, all is fine. But, if I create a jar file and run it directly through the jar file, I get this error message:

    In fact, the bc4j.xcfg file is not inside my JAR file (it belongs to the BC4J project, so when I created the JAR file for my "View" project, it never came into.
    How should I create the JAR file to have this file inside and fix my problem??

  • Weird classpath issue in EAR.Some classes can access jars that others cant!

    Hi,
    I'm experiencing a very frustrating problem that's proving to be a bit of a show stopper for me. I would really appreciate some help...
    I have an EAR deployed successfully on Sun Appserver 8 which passes the tests from the sun EAR verifier tool. The ear contains a jar file that I built which has a stateless session bean, home, remote interfaces and rmi stubs, deployment descriptors, as well as some utility classes. The EAR also contains some third-party jars such as Hibernate, Log4-j, apache-commons etc etc. The jar I built has in it's manifest file, the classpath information to reference the other jars in the ear.
    The problem I am having is that one of the classes in a third-party jar (hibernate3.jar) cannot see a class in another of the third party jars (log4j-1.2.8.jar) and as a result is throwing a NoClassDefFoundError for org/apache/log4j/Layout while trying to initialise - the two jars are at the root of the EAR.
    Furthermore, my utility classes can access and use Log4j classes without any problem and logging command from those classes is output successfully to the server console. However, my session bean, which is packaged in the same jar as the utility classes, fails to log anything even though it uses exactly the same logger and log configuration as the utility classses.
    I have tried adding classpath information to the manifest of the EAR so that the third-party jars can pick it up but this makes no difference. Also, according to the EAR verifier tool, you are not allowed to put any classpath information in the EAR manifest.
    I have also tried deploying this in weblogic but am experiencing the same problem.
    If anyone can offer any advice or solutions I would greatly appreciate it.
    :)

    what´s type error have you?
    perhaps external libraries (located in classpath) invoke opsCommon.jar and config-3.0.jar classes. then, classnotfound is normal.
    and... why separate external libraries (opsCommon.jar and config-3.0.jar inside ear, and other in classpath)?

  • Classpath and 3rd party jar files

    We have been searching for a long time and have not been able to find an answer to our question. Do you think that you could help us out?
    We need to include 3rd party jar files in our application. Where in the deployment classpath directory structure can we place these. This does not seem to happen when we publish.
    We also need to give our clients the ability to modify our configuration. Currently we do this with an xml file, which we place under server/config in our JBoss directory. We also need to find a home for out log4J configuration file.
    Where does this type of thing exist in the SAP world?

    We have had problems with 3rd party jar files also. We ended up including them in the WEB-INF/lib directory of our WAR file and packaging/deploying them everytime.
    If you are looking for your project on your server, it is deployed to a directory similar to this:
    /usr/sap/J01/JC00/j2ee/cluster/server0/apps
    Hope this helps.

  • Jinit not loading webutil jar files

    Hello,
    Our Application Server has had webutil installed on it for quiet some time now. I am implementing a custom Banner Form that requires webutil functionality. Well the form is all set, but the webutil portion does not function correctly. I have been working with the designers of this application and they recommended I make sure that my archive_jini and archive parameters be set in the file /u01/app/oracle/product/10gASforms/10.1.2/forms/server/formsweb.cfg as follows:
    archive_jini=banicons.jar,bannerui.jar,banspecial.jar,banorep.jar,frmall_jinit.jar,gwucustom.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
    archive=banicons.jar,bannerui.jar,banspecial.jar,banorep.jar,frmall.jar,gwucustom.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
    so I set these up as requested. When I look at my Java Console I only see the following load:
    banicons.jar, bannerui.jar, banspecial.jar, banorep.jar and frmall_jinit.jar
    I do not see gwucustom.jar, frmwebutil or jacob.jar load.
    Is there something I am missing? Do I have to restart the Application Server?
    Thank you much in advance for any guidance anyone can provide!
    -Stan

    I actually corrected this issue myself.
    In the formsweb.cfg file I added these properties under the default section.
    There is a section called jinit_pprd (My Pre-Production test server, I added these values under there and the .jar files are now loading.

  • Loading separate JAR files.

    Hello.
    I have an application that loads functionality from separate jar files so that the application has a "hot deploy" feature. This means that the application reloads a certain functionallity if a new jar is deployed to that folder. This also means that the jars containing this functionality must be in a separate forlder than the jars for the application framework, or the system would try to load this as a functionallity as well.
    In my JNLP file, I load the whole application framework at startup, but none of the functionality jars as these are loaded after the application has logged the user in and so on. I use URLClassLoader to load the funtionality classes but in these classes, I import from the allready loaded framework, and the functionalities I try to load throw an excaption that they do not find the classes in the framework.
    Any ideas as to how the externally loaded jars can find classes loaded into the framework? This works perfectly well when I don't use web start, so there must be some class loading issues I am not aware of.
    Thank you.
    -r

    OK, I am making some progress, but now I have a different problem: Some of the framework for loading was written by someone else and I would really like access to the debug information it prints without having to rewrite a lot to print it all to files. Is there any way to get access to everything that is being printed on System.out from web start. Been looking around but I can't find anything on the subject.

  • How to create and use library JAR files with command-line tools?

    Development Tools -> General Questions:
    I am trying to figure out how to put utility classes into JAR files and then compile and run applications against those JAR files using the command-line javac, jar, and java tools. I am using jdk1.7.0_17 on Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.7.
    I have posted a simple example with one utility class, one console application class, and a Makefile:
    http://holgerdanske.com/users/dpchrist/java/examples/jar-20130520-2134.tar.gz
    Here is a console session:
    2013-05-20 21:39:01 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ cat src/com/example/util/Hello.java
    package com.example.util;
    public class Hello {
        public static void hello(String arg) {
         System.out.println("hello, " + arg);
    2013-05-20 21:39:12 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ cat src/com/example/hello/HelloConsole.java
    package com.example.hello;
    import static com.example.util.Hello.hello;
    public class HelloConsole {
        public static void main(String [] args) {
         hello("world!");
    2013-05-20 21:39:21 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ make
    rm -f hello
    find . -name '*.class' -delete
    javac src/com/example/util/Hello.java
    javac -cp src src/com/example/hello/HelloConsole.java
    echo "java -cp src com.example.hello.HelloConsole" > hello
    chmod +x hello
    2013-05-20 21:39:28 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ ./hello
    hello, world!I believe I am looking for:
    1. Command-line invocation of "jar" to put the utility class bytecode file (Hello.class) into a JAR?
    2. Command-line invocation of "javac" to compile the application (HelloConsole.java) against the JAR file?
    3. Command-line invocation of "java" to run the application (HelloConsole.class) against the JAR file?
    I already know how t compile the utility class file.
    Any suggestions?
    TIA,
    David

    I finally figured it out:
    1. All name spaces must match -- identifiers, packages, file system, JAR contents, etc..
    2. Tools must be invoked from specific working directories with specific option arguments, all according to the project name space.
    My key discovery was that if the code says
    import com.example.util.Hello;then the JAR must contain
    com/example/util/Hello.classand I must invoke the compiler and interpreter with an -classpath argument that is the full path to the JAR file
    -classpath ext/com/example/util.jarThe code is here:
    http://holgerdanske.com/users/dpchrist/java/examples/jar-20130525-1301.tar.gz
    Here is a console session that demonstrates building and running the code two ways:
    1. Compiling the utility class into bytecode, compiling the application class against the utility bytecode, and running the application bytecode against the utility bytecode.
    2. Putting the (previously compiled) utility bytecode into a JAR and running the application bytecode against the JAR. (Note that recompiling the application against the JAR was unnecessary.)
    (If you don't know Make, understand that the working directory is reset to the initial working directory prior to each and every command issued by Make):
