Cleanup after upgrade
After each upgrade (Acrobat 7 to 8, 8 to 9), some empty folders from the old version remain and are impossible to delete (Access denied, even to Domain Administrator). How to clean this up?
Thanks,
DrMiracle
Hi DJ,
I did some research and local test. I believe the method you used is OK to relocate the configuration files:
1. stop the sql serve analysis service
2.edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\MSSQLServerOLAPService. and Edit the
Image path as the target path for configuration files
3. start the sql server analysis service, then the new directory were used for configuration files
However, during my test I relocate the directory in the same "MSAS" folder. Why I did this is to guarantee permission isssue can be avoided.
I suppose the failure of starting the sql server analysis service is due to permission issue.
A method to troubleshoot is using Process Monitor
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4865 to collect perfmon trace when you start the service. You may be able to find the reason for the starting failure (e.g. "access denied")

Cleanup after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7
I have installed (upgraded from Vista) Windows 7 on my X301 machine. I am wondering if thedata on the drives Q(lenovo) and S(Servicev003) is still needed?
only if you want to recover to vista the Q partition is used for creating recovery disc the s partition is used for recovering to factory state which would be vista

after upgrading to Windows 8.1 from 8 nothing works correctly. Firefox 1st received 'unable to load XPcom' After resetting and uninstalling several times Firefox now loads to either a support screen or blank screen. It accepts address input but doesn't execute to target. So far I have been unable to roll back upgrade.
Although IE11 works, it doesn't work correctly.It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

If you keep having problems then do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

After upgrading to Firefox 36.0.4, it automatically installed noscript
After upgrading to Firefox 36.0.4, it removes all my existing add-on extension.
In addition, "noscript" was automatically installed and there is no way to remove it.
The "noscript" add-on does not show up in any of the add-on extension for me to disable/remove it.
I even tried adding noscript from the add-on so that the noscript add-on shows up in the
firefox extension page so that I could remove it but that does not remove the
original noscript that comes with Firefox 36.0.4
Hopefully there is a way for user to remove this and it is not part of Firefox 36.0.4.
At least allow user the options of using it or remove it.''cor-el [[#answer-710716|said]]''

Workspace webapp does not open up after upgrade to EPM11.1.2.2
Hi All, After upgrading EPM11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 the Workspace does not open up on IE8/9. Note that HSS works fine.
I get the below error:
URL: http://foundation-server.company.com:28080/workspace/index.jsp

I have ran the registry-cleanup.sh script but it did not detect any issues with Workspace related nodes.
Anyone has faced a similar issue?
Thanks,
KentHi John,
Thank you for your reply.
Before the upgrade it, HSS+Workspace+EAS+APS used to run on OHS. I have now configured all the managed servers to run on Embedded WebLogic server, so we are no longer using the 19000 OHS (web server) port.
I try to access Workspace from port 28080 as follows: http://foundation-server.company.com:28080/workspace/index.jsp
I have successfully used the same EPM11.1.2.2 upgrade configuration in DEV and QA and workspace opens up on 28080 (though there are issues with it running on IE9.. but that seems to be an isolated issue). So I will look for duplicate Workspace entries in the registry report ..
Thanks,

Extremely Slow Time Machine Backup after upgrading to 10.8.3
Time machine backups are taking an extremely long time on my retina MacBook Pro 13 inch after upgrading to 10.8.3. It's taking many minutes just for a kilobyte to be backed up. I've tested transferring something to the disk and it's lightening fast so there's nothing wrong with the disk.
Is anyone having similar issues or know of a fix?I had the same problem with slow backups. Called Apple 5 times and went through all the hoops checking plists, airport, and then erasing using my airport utility and the first backup of about 25-30 gigs went fine, but the second backup would take between 1-2 hours. By the time it was finished it was ready to do another backup.
After looking at community fixes I found that my Comcast Norton Anti Virus was the problem. Upon speaking for the 6th time to Apple I was told that should have been the first thing they asked, since antivirus programs check each file going to the time capsule. Even unchecking the scan external drives did not help.
I removed the Norton AV from my system and replaced it with the IAV from apple store (free) and my backups are back to normal. I timed a 100 meg using Ethernet/LAN and it took 9 minutes 32 seconds from clicking backup now, searching for backups, preparing backup, backingup, and cleanup. My Wifi connection on 10 megs took only 1 minute 29 seconds.
Now my backups run so fast I don't even see them working. Also the constant updates to Norton were casuing my backups to be 100 megs or more each time due to daily Norton updates. Now I get backups in the order of 10-20 megs - depending up what I have put on the machine. If I put music on it increases the size of the files installed.
I recommend anyone having this slow time capsule problem to turn off your full antivirus program no matter what you are using and watch the difference in speed. I am so happy! No more 2 hour backups and 45 minutes to 1 hour preparing backup! good luck -
I am getting this error message after upgrading to iOS5: "iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPad "ray's iPad" because the apps installed on the iPad could not be determined."
I wiped it out and restored from backup but I am still getting the same message.I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and that fixed it. Here are the specific instructions that I was given.
~~~
Try the following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch
Good Luck!
Dolby Home Theater v4 not working after upgrading to Windows 10
Hi there, I just upgraded to Wndows 10 Home from Windows 8.1; everything went smoothly except for the fact that Dolby Home Theater v4 does not work. I had to reinstall it using the .msi file found in the Realtek Audi folders. I chose v4 over any of the other versions because I like how I can tune the equalizer to my liking and different uses. Anyways, the regular audio works and Dolby is turned on but there is no activity appearing on the equalizer and my music does not change once adjusted. Had this problem when doing an optional audio driver update in the past when I was running 8.1. I do not have the option to rollback the driver after upgrading to Windows 10. Does anyone have a solution to this issue or know what the correct Realtek driver is to make Dolby work? This is one of my favorite features of my laptop and I really want it up and running again! Thank you in advance! JakeStiebs My unit: Lenovo Ideapad Z580 running Windows 10 Home with Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.7535
one more thing. I was not able to download cleanup tool/online scanner too. but may be it has something to do with my internet bandwidth. and other strange thing i observed is that before restart i was not even able to turn off all security features. but after restart that problem seems to be corrected.
What to do?
Scan not working after upgrading to windows 10
i upgraded my system yesterday from windows 7 to windows 10 but i it has issues with f secure. first f secure showed malfunction and asked to restart. after restart warning disappeared but i found that scan is not working. also after upgrade microsoft defender automatically started and it detected some default tab registry key. i removed it. than started f secure. but after hitting scan button i came to know that scan is not working. i tried several ways. full system scan right click scan but none worked. also a strange thing is that hitmanpro too is not able to scan. but malwarebytes worked absolutely normally. i think it is an issue with system not with f secure only. but still any help would be good. i saw different discussions here related to windows upgrade so i guess this issue too can help someone if he/she ever comes through this kind of issue. i have already raised support ticket. waiting for their rply.
ASA5510 VPN not working after upgrade from 8.2 to 8.3
Hi,
I have recently upgraded a customer ASA5510 to version 8.3.
After upgrade web access etc is working fine however VPN is down.
The config looks very different after the upgrade plus what looks to be duplicate entries.
I suspect its an access list issue but I'm not sure.
If anyone has any ideas based on the config below it would be greatly appreciated as I'm at a loss....?!
Cryptochecksum:0dc16fe893bd4bba6fdf6b7eed93e553Hi,
Many thanks for your reply.
Finally got access to implement your suggestions.
Initially none of the VPN's were up.
After making the change the two VPN's came up.
However only data via the first VPN is possible.
Accessing resources on the 10.1.2.0 network is still not possible.
Attached is the latest config, any input is greatly appreciated;
After upgrade 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6, the Web Query (.iqy) does not work. After open the .iqy file in Excel, entered the user and password, it only pulls in "PK" in one cell, instead of the expected analysis report. This was working in 11.1.1.5 before upgrade.
Does anyone know how to correct this issue? Is this a bug in 11.1.1.6, or required some new configuration settings?
Thanks in advance.
DXA bug has been registered.
I cannot update apps after upgrading to Yosemite. Please Help!
Hello,
After upgrading to Yosemite, i wanted to go on to iMovie, but i have to update. So i try to update but it refuses and tells me: "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
So what i understand is because i bought this mac in the US and I'm using it in the UK its not letting me update it. But what i don't understand is that i was able to upgrade to Yosemite with my mac knowing i was in the UK.
How can i update my applications?
Thank you for your time,
TOAOMAPerform the following, stopping with the first one which works:
1. Open the Mac App Store's Purchases tab. If you're prompted to accept it and the other iLife/iWork applications into your Apple ID, do so.
2. Move them out of the Applications folder(they may need to be put into the Trash temporarily), and then see if you can download them for free from their individual product pages. If you're asked to buy them, see #3.
3. Click here, contact Apple, and wait for a response.
4. Buy them.
Cannot open customize OAF screen after upgrade to 12.1.3
Hi,
After upgrade to 12.1.3, I am not able top open customize OAF screens from Applications.
By following some documents from MOS, I have done the following.
1)-applied patch 9879989 on Linux server.
2)-I am able to install JDeveloper,open and compile my customize programs from JDeveloper installed on Linux server. I compilation, new *.jpx files created from *.jpr
From Oracle Applications, I am getting the same error that I was getting without compiling customize program.
My question is that, how Oracle applications will read the new compiled program. Do all program need to be in specific unix directory ?
I copied all the customized program under " /u01/oracle/jdev_install_dir/jdevhome/jdev/myprojects" .
I think the problem is now to place OAF files in the problem directory, which I don't know.
Do I need to set environment variable like JDEV_USER_HOME in the environment file ?
Please help.
Best RegardsNot sure if your issue is resolved. Did you compile the java sources in JDeveloper and moved all files from myclasses folder to unix under $JAVA_TOP or appropriate directory and deployed the PG files using xmlimporter?
Thanks
Cannot use elementary icons themes after upgrading to GTK+-2.22.0 ?
Hello All,
After upgrading to GTK+-2.22.0, elementary icons look horribly wrong for some reason. I thought maybe i need to download the icons themes again (https://launchpad.net/elementaryicons/+download) so i did download the latest elementary icons and install them in ~/icons. However, the icons themes dont look the way they should look. Therefore, I am not sure what i did wrong, or if it had to do with upgrading to GTK+-2.22.0 and i am wondering if i am missing something or need to change some setting.
I am using Xface4 as my Desktop Environments.
Any help would be much appreciated.After upgrading, almost all of my icon themes are broken, including Elementary, which is the only one I actually care about.
*EDIT*
Recent update to libpng seems to have solved it for me. They still don't display properly in the "Appearance -> Theme -> Customize... -> Icons" dialog, but they display properly in Nautilus and on the panels.
How do I change the default PDF reader from Acrobat Pro to Preview?
Right now Acrobat Pro is set as the default PDF reader in my Safari 3. It's slow and wonky, which I think might be a 10.5 issue. Anyway I'd like to make Preview my default PDF reader for Safari but I can't find where to make this change.
