Clearing Form when changing from Insert Mode to Enter/Execute Query
Morning folks,
I need some help or pointers with a form I am working on. At startup, the form is in Insert mode. I am using Oracle Forms 9i.
Goal: Clear the form with NO_VALIDATE when User enters an ID in Insert mode and clicks on the Execute Query button(DEFAULT&SMARTBAR Inbuilt Menu)
The user can do two things when they first open the screen.
Option 1: Enter the STUDENT_ID and press Tab
Option 2: Enter the STUDENT_ID and press the Execute Query button (Part of the DEFAULT&SMARTBAR Inbuilt Menu)
There is a When-Validate-Item trigger on STUDENT_ID to check if the Student ID already exists in the database. If it does, it gives an Error message saying "Student ID found. Please Query the record or enter a new Student ID". This is fine with Option 1.
The problem arises with Option 2. When I Enter a Student ID in Insert Mode and (thinking I am in Enter Query mode) and press the Execute Query button, I get two messages:
Message 1: "Student ID found. Please Query the record or enter a new Student ID"
Message 2: Oracle message "Do you want to save the changes? Yes/No/Cancel.
Is there a way to stop this *Message 2?*
Here is what I have done to try and mitigate this situation. I have created a non database field and have called it clear_form.
In When-Validate-Item I set the field clear_form = 1 when I encounter *Message 1*
{code}
if t_record_exists > 0 then
set_alert_property('ALERT_ERROR',ALERT_MESSAGE_TEXT,'Student ID found. Please Query the record or enter a new Student ID');
alert_button := show_alert('ALERT_ERROR');
:clear_form := 1;
end if;
{code}
By creating *Key-EXEQRY* Trigger at Form Level, I was hoping that it would just clear the form. I put some messages and its seems to me that *KEY-EXEQRY* is firing first and then the *WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM*. Is there a way to have the *WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM* trigger fire first?
{code}
if :clear_form is null then
execute_query;
else
clear_form(no_validate);
end if;
{code}
Thanks!

Having the actual Student_ID column from the table is dangerous, since it is also the key to the student's data. What if the user properly executes a query, showing a student's data, and then wants to look up another student, so keys in the new ID. If he then presses Execute Query, the Form asks "Do you want to save your changes?"
If the user presses Yes, the new ID becomes the previous student's key.
It would be better if you put the student_ID field in a control block. Then, the user enters a Student_ID, and presses Execute Query, the query then populates the student's data in the Base Table block. In the B_T block, the actual Student_ID column should be hidden.

Clear form when changing tab or page
I do have a few pages which hold information separated into many tabs. Within the tabs are porlets consisting of one form portlet and a report portlet. I used the query button in on form and change the tab or page and did changes on the other tab/page. If I go back to the original tab/page the form stays in the query state holding the values of the last query. This is dangerous because I could have changed the data of the table behind the form on another page. Therefore I want to reset the form every time I leave the the tab/page where the form is. Has everyone tried this and succeeded?
Thanks for you help.
AlexandraI don't know exacly why this does not work for your system as
well. I can just guess. There is another configuration for
caching in the main configuration of PORTAL I think it is the
file http.conf under Oracle\iSuites\Apache\Apache\conf. My system
admin told me that he had totally disabled the caching option for
PORTAL. This is how my http.conf file looks like at the lines
that have to do with caching:
# CacheNegotiatedDocs: By default, Apache sends "Pragma:
no-cache" with each
# document that was negotiated on the basis of content. This asks
proxy
# servers not to cache the document. Uncommenting the following
line disables
# this behavior, and proxies will be allowed to cache the
documents.
#CacheNegotiatedDocs
# To enable the cache as well, edit and uncomment the following
lines:
# (no cacheing without CacheRoot)
#CacheRoot "D:\ORACLE\iSuites\Apache\Apache\proxy"
#CacheSize 5
#CacheGcInterval 4
#CacheMaxExpire 24
#CacheLastModifiedFactor 0.1
#CacheDefaultExpire 1
#NoCache a_domain.com another_domain.edu joes.garage_sale.com
# Inter-Process Session Cache:
# Configure the SSL Session Cache: First either `none'
# or `dbm:/path/to/file' for the mechanism to use and
# second the expiring timeout (in seconds).
#SSLSessionCache none
#SSLSessionCache shm:logs\ssl_scache(512000)
SSLSessionCache dbm:logs\ssl_scache
SSLSessionCacheTimeout 300
Don't know if this helps. But it works for 3.0.8.9 -

You can use the immediate attribute to allow processing of components to move up to the Apply Request Values phase of the lifecycle. When actionSource components (such as a commandButton) are set to immediate, events are delivered in the Apply Request Values phase instead of in the Invoke Application phase. The actionListener handler then calls the Render Response phase.

Hi hillclimbing,
Can you please let me know the exact error message you see as that would be helpful.
Does this occur with all the pdf files.
What OS and Acrobat version are you using?

Hi All, Since updating to Lion, my imac won't recognise the ext HDD (Maxtor) when waking from sleep mode, I have tried another port, diisc utility (Ext HDD not listed in here) but nothing works. I now find that I have to restart the imac to get the drive recognised..which is fine until the imac goes into sleep mode then I lose the drive and have to restart etc etc.....anyone suffering same issue. The Ext Drive worked perfectly until the upgrade..
Thanks for this, and apologies for delay in replying...in between seeing your post I backed up the ext hdd to another mac and used the disc utility to erase and repair and then re mounted the ext hdd. OK. I have then tested the ext hdd being recognised when waking from sleep mode a few times and everything appears to be fine. If this doesn't work (long term) I will follow the instructions as you have suggested....
I now have a new problem with my HP printer (Photosmart Plus) which is not being recognised by a new wireless router..Ok whilst the router is switch on and I have reconfigured the printer..but when the router is switched off overnight and then switched back on...I get a 'printer is not connected' message and have to go through the re configure routine all over. I am minded to think this is a router problem as the same issue is happening to my wifes Mac Book Pro (which is only a few weeks old)...any suggestions.. -

Hi,
I have an Imac 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo desktop which I have upgraded to lion.
Recently I keep getting kernel panics when waking from sleep mode and I cannot figure out what it is.
I am not very computer savy - I.e. I use a computer but don't know programming etc.
The computer then asks me to shut down and restart.
Any help would be much appreciated as this is driving me crazy.
An example of the latest kernel panic log as as follows:

DaveHi, for other peoples information - I finally figured out the problem. It was actually a faulty RAM module which I had bought. I had upgraded from 2 to 4 gb of RAM using an approved type of RAM for my particular computer. Finally I removed one module of RAM (after doing nearly everything else under the sun including trying to reinstall the operating system and wipe the computer etc) and the computer worked fine.

Wifi disconnects when waking from sleep mode; running Mountain Lion
Had this same issue with Lion as well,, wifi disconnects when waking from sleep mode,,,any ideas how to fix this pesky issue?
Hi Sky,
This has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
10.7…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Click OK.
Also, turn off IPv6:
System Preferences » Network » AirPort » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6
Or whatever Interface you use. -
Firefox crashes windows 7 when recovering from sleep mode
Similar to the following:
http://support.mozilla.com/pl/forum/1/627872?s=window+7+crash&as=s
but not sure whether it depends on pages that are currently opened.
Sometimes, when recovering from sleep mode on win7 (with only Firefox and VS2008 running), win7 crashes. What's important - It doesn't happen always, but still, it's annoying (Firefox starts with startpage only).
I've been noticing this issue on different Firefox versions from Firefox 3.5 to 3.6.6.Same exactly problem here, very annoying when the computer goes to sleep mode and then Firefox locks up.

Macmini 2011 on lion, goes to a blue screen on monitor when awakening from sleep mode, last 3 or 4 seconds, before desktop appears, can anyone help? Thanks
Depending on the system configuration, this may not
be unusual. The Mini that I use for my home theater,
which is connected to a receiver then to a TV, all via
HDMI usually takes a couple seconds to come up just
the way yours does. Same happens when I switch sources
on the receiver. Actually, it starts with the blue screen and
will sometimes flash before the desktop comes up.
It seems that when HDMI goes dormant, there is handshaking
that needs to be re-established, at least thats my SWAG on it.
On the other hand, the Mac Mini Server that I use as a work
station and is connected to a Thunderbolt Display, wakes to desktop
in a second, maybe two. On this combo, it just comes up to
the desk top.
It also probably depends on what processes were active when
the Mini was put to sleep. So it may take some time for it to get around
to reloading the desktop. -
I am running
Windows 7 64 bit
Access 2010 32 bit
Developing an application with a split FE BE with both files local but continue to have the message "Not Responding" when switching from forms view to design view and back as well as if I try to connect to a subform or object on the sub form.I have seen this behavior when the form's RecordSource is a complex query such as a crosstab or a query with several nested queries. To test if this is your case, remove the RecordSource and see if the form starts acting normal again.
Then again, if the form has several subforms they might be slowing up the loading time.

Opening Form in Insert mode but making a query at the same time
My problem is that I want to open a Portal Form in Insert mode but at the same time making a query.
If I call a form with patameters the form opens automatically in update mode (to be more precise with FORMSTATE = UPDATE_AND INSERT). In that case the insert button is not shown.
I have come very close to a solution by running this code:
BEGIN
p_session.set_value(
p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
p_attribute_name => '_FORM_STATE',
p_value => 'QUERY_AND_INSERT');
END;
under "... before processing the form". The form-state changes to QUERY_AND_INSERT' and I get the record from the table that I want but I still see no insert button!
I think that I can solve this problem in some table-triggers in the database but it would be interesting to know weather it is possible to do this in the portal.Kari,
You can workaround the disappearing Insert button by creating a custom button instead.
If you look at the "standard" Insert button code it looks like this:
--- Type your PL/SQL code here...
doInsert;--- This is the default handler
--- ...and here, thanks...
in the generated forms package doInsert just calls internal insert handler:
procedure doINSERT
is
begin
onINSERT(
p_block_name => p_block_name ,
p_object_name => p_object_name,
p_instance => p_instance ,
p_event_type => p_event_type ,
p_user_args => p_user_args ,
p_session => p_session);
end doINSERT;
If you add a custom button to your form and from PLSQL event combobox select "Custom", then copy&paste this code to the event code:
onINSERT(
p_block_name => p_block_name ,
p_object_name => p_object_name,
p_instance => p_instance ,
p_event_type => p_event_type ,
p_user_args => p_user_args ,
p_session => p_session);
You will get a custom button which does exactly what the Insert button does and it will not disappear from the screen.
Thanks,

Why does my computer tell me the "Disk was not properly ejected" when waking from sleep mode?
I am a real "Newbie" to Mac OS. I have a new iMac 21.5" running OS X Lion. When I awake the computer from sleep mode with the spacebar on the keyboard, I get the message "The disk was not ejected proper, etc.". Iss there something I am doing wrong?
Thanks,
Mike G.I am one of those who had experienced this kind of problem. My former Time Machine disk used to automatically eject itself when my iMac sleeps, hence upon waking up my iMac. i always get the error message that the disk was not properly ejected.
From what I was able to gather from my experience, until the time that I found a workable solution, I think I can say that the problem is most probably caused by the incompatibility of certain external drives with how the iMac operates when on sleep and upon waking up. Some external drives are just not able to cope with how the iMac tries to remount a connected disk after it wakes up from sleep. There are just some external drives that cannot continue to be mounted after the iMac wakes from sleep. There are just some external drives that are not responsive enough. In other words, the existence of the problem lies with the type of external drive you are using.
My former Time Machine disk, the problematic one, was an Imation M300 Apollo 1 TB external disk. It unmounts everytime my iMac went to sleep, but does not remount after waking up the iMac. The disk will continue to be unmounted until I physically remove its USB connector and replug it in the iMac.
I replaced my former Time Machine disk with my current one, a Transcend Storejet 1 TB. And the problem went away. The Transcend disk continue to be mounted after the iMac is woken up even from the longest of sleep. I have even the energy saving option "put the hard disk to sleep..." checked. The Transcend disk comes with a Y cable, i.e. it has two USB connectors, but I only connect the one for both data and power--and it still remains mounted even after waking the iMac from sleep.
The sad realization, however, is that since there are only some external drives that are not able to work with the iMac, no matter how many those some may seem to be, it will be highly unlikely for Apple to itself fix this kind of a problem.
I, therefore, make the following recommendations:
1. Check first if your problematic disk has a firmware upgrade available. In some cases, the firmware upgrade may be enough to make the disk more responsive to the iMac waking up.
2. If there is no firmware upgrade available, check if your power/data USB cable is properly working.
3. If your power/data USB cable is in order, and the problem still persists, I think it is inevitable that you have to replace the problematic disk with a newer one that could respond well with the iMac's wake/sleep operation. With what disk will you replace your problematic one? I can only recommend from my personal experience the Transcend disk I mentioned earlier. You may also search this forum on other brands of disks that may also work.

Error in AJAX call when resume from Sleep mode?
We have developed a HTML5 web app and added it to home screen the app is working fine. But the AJAX call is not working when we resume the app from SLEEP MODE. If the app keep opened.
THIS ISSUE COMES ONLY IN iOS8.
Please give the solution for the above issue.

Harish SSounds like maybe the eject mecinisim is stuck..? Try inserting a CD or DVD and then Eject it to see if that makes a difference.
If not, try reseting both the SMC and PRAM
as per > Resetting the System Management Controller

BT Keyboard Loses Connection When Waking from Sleep Mode
I'm running Windows 7 on a late 2009 27" iMac and my Bluetooth keyboard keeps loses connection when I wake my computer from sleep mode. Usually the only way I can get it back is my resetting. Anyone know of a way to fix this? Any help would be great appreciated.
If the MBP doesn't wake when you open the lid but does when you press any key afterward, do this:
Applications > Utilities > Terminal
Copy and paste the following text in the Terminal window:
*sudo pmset lidwake 1*
You'll be asked for your admin password. Type that in (Note: the password will not be displayed as you do so). Press Return, and quit the Terminal. Close the MBP, wait for it to sleep, and open it again. Does it wake now?
If you want to change it back so the system doesn't wake when you open the lid, repeat the procedure, but this time type or paste:
*sudo pmset lidwake 0*
