Client and System ID in XI

Hi,
When I call a Proxy in SAP from XI, I want to pass the XI system client (like SY-MANDT in R/3) and system id (like SY-SYSID in R/3). How can I do this.
Thanks

  • STMS - Transport Routes - Multiple Clients and Systems

    Hi Guys
We are setting up a ERP Landscape based in four systems
AED - Gold Development (Most Development starts from here)
    AEC - Customer Development (101,102,103...)
    AEQ - Customer QA (401,402,403,...)
    AEP - QA Production  (701,702,703,...)
Our main goal is to release transports from AED 100 to all clients in AEC (101,102,103...)
CTC was already set up to 1, and all system share a same Trans Dir
For this purpose I have created a transport Group /SOD_DEV/ and added AEC 101, 102 and new clients would be added
Only customizing request should be replicated on each client, and workbench only for one client.
Then, I need also all the transports from AEC go their respective client transport queue in AEQ and AEP
    Example:
    AEC 101 --> AEQ 401 --> AEP 701
    AEC 102 --> AEQ 402 --> AEP 702
And in the future it should be able to expand to
    AEC 103 --> AEQ 403 --> AEP 703 and go on.
    My questions are:
Should I create a Transport Group for Customizing and Transport Layer for Workbench? O can I use a single Tranport Layer for both Workbench/Customizing?
How can i create a route from AEC so transports who got imported in 101 are automatically delivered to 401 and then 701?
    Thanks
    Martin

Hi Yuksel, thanks for your input.
We agree with a tranport Group between AED and AEC. Transport layer is ZAED.
All developments made in AED, are distributed to Transport Group /SOD/ to all AEC clients (100,101,102...)
    Now comes the tricky part
for example, all requests that were imported in AEC 101 should be delivered to AEQ 401 and then delivered to AEP 701 only
That why I didn't put a transport group between AEC and AEQ, since it should be a dependency.
Any transport that was imported on AEC should follow their respective route
    Workbench: AEC 100 --> AEQ 400 --> AEP 700 (Sytem-Wide Workbench requests)
    Client 1: AEC 101 --> AEQ 401 --> AEP 701 (Client-Dependent Customizing)
    Client 2 :AEC 102 --> AEQ 402 --> AEP 702  (Client-Dependent Customizing)
    And it wiil follow with
    Client 3 AEC 103 --> AEQ 403 --> AEP 703 (Client-Dependent Customizing)
It created these delivery routes; as example for Client1:  AED101-AEQ401 and AEQ401-AEP701. Is that correct?
See attached the screenshot for better reference, you are welcome to further suggestions

  • Oracle 9i Client and System.Data.OracleClient Problems

I have an application server that has an ASP.NET webpage that queries an Oracle database on another machine through ODP.NET.
The app server's machine's OS is Microsoft Windows XP SP2 with IIS and .NET 2.0 Framework installed and configured correctly.
The following Oracle software is installed (from OUI inventory listing)
Oracle Services For Microsoft Transaction Server 9.2.0.7.0
    Oracle ODBC Driver 9.2.0.7.0
Oracle Provider for OLE DB 9.2.0.7.0
    Oracle Objects for OLE 9.2.0.7.0
Oracle Data Provider for .NET 9.2.0.7.0
    Oracle 9i Client 9.2.0.1.0
    Sun JDK 1.3.1.0.1a
When the ASP.NET page attempts to connect to the Oracle instance on the remote machine via the Data provider I get the following message...
System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Exception: System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.
    Source Error:
An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.
    <<snipped>>
I know the connectivity between the client on the app server (SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.1.0)
and the remote database (Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0)
is working since sqlplus sessions connect and the NET Manager tests through Local Service Naming succceed.
I've tried the "ORACLE_HOME permission changes" solution for Autenticated users as articulated here ....
    http://jasondotnet.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!BD40DBF53845E64F!122.entry
    but the error persists.
In the list of oracle installed products above, I installed the first 5 (ODP.NET) before the last 2 (Oracle 9i client). Would this matter ? At first I thought perhaps the ODP.NET component didn't "know" about the client since it was installed before there was one on that app server.
    Feeback much appreciated.

Well I figured it out. I guess...
    1) Uninstalled all Oracle Software Products
    2) Rebooted the machine.
    3) Manually removed C:\oracle\ora92\.
    4) Installed and configured the following
    * Oracle 9i Client 9.2.0.1.0
    5) Installed and configured the following
    * Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server 9.2.0.7.0
    * Oracle ODBC Driver 9.2.0.7.0
    * Oracle Provider for OLE DB 9.2.0.7.0
    * Oracle Objects for OLE 9.2.0.7.0
    * Oracle Data Provider for .NET 9.2.0.7.0
    6) Gave the following accounts Full Control over the ORACLE_HOME directory
    * ASP.NET Machine Account
    * Internet Guest Account
    * Launch IIAS Process Account
    6) iisreset
    Conclusion....
The order in which Oracle components are installed does matter.

  • Client Copy and System Restore query

    Dear All,
I have few major doubt regarding client copy and system restor.
    1. In my Quality system there are 2 clients: 100 and 200.In my PRD there is only 1 client 300(other than the standard default clients). My doubt is during remote client copy with SAP_ALL profile from PRD to QUA why the space increases only in MB.
I have been asked the same question by my management. They are saying PRD is 300GB and QUA is 220GB then why the space increases in MB though all data is copied in client 200(QUA) from client300(PRD)
    2. If I delete client why the space is released in MB. Because according to them it should be in GBs.
    3. Now my third query is I have to restore PRD backup in QUA.So I said that this requires same <SID> and Same sapce in the sapdatafiles(OS is HP-UX 11.31 and DB is Oracle 10g).So I have to explain them why these two things are contradary to each other. In case of client copy space required is only in MB and in case of System restore of PRD in QUA sapce require is in GBs.
Your suggestions will be highly obliged.

Response > Because during client copy your customizing and other objects are copied.
The database structures, tables etc are already present.
    2. If I delete client why the space is released in MB. Because according to them it should be in GBs.
Response > Since client deletion is not same as deleting database /customizing tables .If you delete complete dataspaces/tables then there will be sizeable difference.Similar logic as Response 1

  • Using BAPI to create users across all Clients and R/3 Systems

    Hi everyone,
I'm currently writing a program where I'm using a BAPI to create multiple new users via central user admin (SU01) and assigning Roles to these users.
My objective is to create these new users in all clients of all R/3 systems using RFC. At the moment, in SM59, our DEV environment is set up as "DEV", QA as "TST" and PRD as "PRD". When I use syntax:
CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_USER_CREATE1' DESTINATION 'TST' the system presents a logon screen to login to TST system. Can this logon be made automatic i.e. without this screen prompt?
Also, I can't create the users in all clients of 'TST'. Our test system has 5 clients...how do I create the users in all clients of TST automatically?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Sougata.

Try to see the SAP HELP:
RFC logon to target system (remote logon)
RFC logon within an R/3 system can be successfully undertaken using the same user ID even if the logon is to take place in a different client.
In principle, all necessary logon data for a particular RFC destination (language, user, client, and password) are used when an RFC logs on to the target system.
Typically the password field (for a particular user) must be maintained when an RFC communicates with other clients or user IDs.
If one of the fields language, client or user is not maintained for the designated RFC destination, default values are taken from the system environment (system table).
    Tips:
With RFC communication within a single R/3 system with the same client and user the logon fields do not have to be maintained. Password entry is also unnecessary in this special case.
If an RFC logon in online mode is unsuccessful, an RFC logon window is displayed (not during background processing) where you can logon to the target system online at runtime.
The default values for the RFC logon screen fields are as follows:
    Client
The standard value of the target system application server is used. This value is read from the target server's "login/system_client" profile parameter.
    User
The system inserts the user ID of the current user in this field.
    Language
Information from the RFC destination is used to fill the language field. If the language field has not been maintained in the destination, the current language of the calling system is inserted.
The RFC logon window does not appear if the initial function module call of the RFC destination originates from the system-specific function group 'SRFC'. The function modules RFC_PING and RFC_SYSTEM_INFO belong to this group among others.
If you would like to have an RFC logon window displayed regardless, you must end RFC communication to that particular RFC destination after the call using the function module 'RFC_CONNECTION_CLOSE'.
Be aware that no logon screen is usually offered when using trusted/trusting systems.
Documentation to authorization checks in the RFC environment can be found in RFC authorization concept.

  • Documentation if 32bit client and 64bit client can coexist on 64bit system

    Dear all,
I have read that I am not the first guy how try to install a 32bit client and a 64bit client (multiple homes) on 64bit system, but I still couldn't find something about this issue in the official Oracle Documentation.
Can anybody please give me a hint or a link where I can find something written in the official Oracle Documentation if a 32bit client and a 64Bit client can coexist on 64Bit system ...
    Thanks in advance!

Could not find anything in official documentation (may be my search is not comprehensive enough).
However, you can just get in touch with Oracle support (I don't know if you need to raise SR for this) and ask them if it will work. To my knowledge, it would work under 32 bit emulation mode but results cannot be guaranteed.

Steps to Prepare and Sequence the Application:
Phase 1:  Prepare vSphere install to be used in your sequence (to be performed prior to sequencing)
Clear %TEMP% directory on machine you are using to prepare the install
Create a folder that will be referred to as "vSphereInstDir"
that install files are copied to
Download the vSphere 5.5 client from your vSphere management server
Run the installer for the vSphere Client
Once at the Language Selection portion of the installer,
using windows explorer browse to the %temp% directory and copy the files that were just created when the vSphere installer extracted to a directory (name it vSphereInstDir)
    Kill the installer
Find VMware-viclient.exe in the files you just copied
    and run it
Once at the "Welcome to the installation
wizard" stage of the installer, using windows explorer browse to the %temp% directory and copy the files that were just created into the vSphereInstDir
    Kill the installer
Find the VMware vSphere Client 5.5.msi in the vSphereInstDir,
in the second set of files you copied over
Using Orca, open the VMware vSphere Client 5.5.msi
Drop the following rows from the msi (some of the rows may have additional text at the end of the names) (InstallExecuteSequence/VM_InstallHcmon,
    InstallExecuteSequence/VM_InstallHcmon_SetData,
    InstallExecuteSequence/VM_InstallUSB,
    InstallExecuteSequence/VM_InstallUSB_SetData,
    InstallExecuteSequence/VM_InstallUSBArbritrator,
    InstallExecuteSequence/VM_InstallUSBArbritratorSetData,
    InstallExecuteSequence/VM_StartUSBArbSvc)
Save the VMware vSphere 5.5.msi in place
Copy the vSphereInstDir to a network location that
can be used during sequencing on your Sequencer
Phase 2:  Sequence the vSphere Client
Pre-requisites:  All of the latest available VC++ redist (x64 and x86) are installed on the Sequencer VM
Copy vSphereInstDir to your temporary install directory on your Sequencer (mine is C:\temp)
    Start up the Sequencer
Click Create a New Virtual Application Package
Click Next with Create Package (default) selected
Click Next on the Prepare Computer screen, taking
    note of any findings
Click Next with Standard Application (default) selected
Choose Perform a custom installation, then click Next
Input the Virtual Application name (vSphere Client
    5.5 for example)
Enter the Primary Virtual Application Directory (C:\vSphere55
    for example) and click Next
Using Windows Explorer find the Visual J# install (vjredist64.exe) in the vSphereInstDir you copied over.  Install using defaults
Using Windows Explorer, find and install the vSphere client using the VMware vSphere Client 5.0.msi located in the vSphereInstDir you copied over.
Change the installation directory to use the Primary Virtual Application Directory you configured above (C:\vSphere55 for example).  Install using
    defaults
While the sequencer is still monitoring changes connect to the 4.1 environment to get the files needed.  To do this, launch the vSphere client and connect
to your 4.1 environment.  When prompted, choose RUN to install the files needed for the 4.1 environment.
While the sequencer is still monitoring changes connect to the 5.0 environment to get the files needed.  To do this, launch the vSphere client and
connect to your 5.0 environment.  When prompted, choose RUN to install the files needed for the 5.0 environment.
With the sequencer still monitoring changes, after the additional environments have been installed, delete all of the language folders from the install locations
that are not required.  You will find that there are language folders in each of the different modules that are installed.  Make sure look in every folder.  This will free up approximately 300mb from the package.
When done, check the box to finish the sequence and continue cleaning up the sequenced application.
    Known Issues/Limitations:
Functions that require the USB Arbritration Service will not work
    Approximate Sequencing Time:

  • Cisco VPN client and License

    Hello,
We have a Cisco ASA 5520 with the VPN PLus License and 8.04 IOS installed, we want to set up vpn access to our users. We can use the cisco VPN client which works on WIndows Platform, but we also have MAC OS 10.7 which works only with Cisco Anyconnect.
I am a little bit lost with all the client and the license, actually we can't setup more than 2 vpn session with an Anyconnect client installed on MAC or Windows. The authentication is by Certificate, the first two connect fine, but the third one don't connect and prompt for a username / password.
I joined a SH VER of my ASA, if anyome can tell me what is wrong on the license or perhaps it's a configuration problem?
Thanks a lot for the answer.

why don't you use built-in client in mac osx? it supports certificate authentication also.
another solution would be to buy additional ssl vpn licences: there is a limit of two ssl vpn sessions by default.

  • SAP client and other software on a Virtual Machine

I'm the campus coordinator for a university that is a member of the University Alliances program.  This gives us the ability to put the R/3 client and other software on lab machines and also distribute it to students.
Given that we deploy in a shared lab environment on a university campus we often don't have absolute control over things like browser versions, plugins available, security settings, Java version available, and so on.  We also only have the ability to do updates, installations, etc. at fixed times of the year.
As a solution for this, we're contemplating creating a virtual machine to be able to control the environment more and also allow the student greater control and customization.  At this point we'd be looking at developing a Windows VM, either Vista or XP, that would have the R/3 client, IE with all the correct plugins for running Visual Composer, NetWeaver Developer Studio, and other programs such as Solution Composer.  The idea would be that if we need to add a new software resource, change a version, tweak the environment, etc. we could just update and redistribute this virtual machine.
Has anyone here attempted this type of deployment?  As we are just beginning, any helpful hints or advice would be appreciated.

I appreciate your willingness to think through this with me and share your expertise.

    > Why do you think so? The "key" you use during installation is bound to a medium. We also have a license that allows us to fully automatically install Windows XP on our client PCs using Empirum and also install all other necessary software (IE updates, SAPGUI, Adobe SVG, Microsoft Office etc.)
My assumption was that if we had multiple windows instances out there all with the same key (assuming non-volume key) that the piracy protection built into the OS might in some way cause problems.
    > (Perhaps not.  We're still considering the ins and outs of that.)  We're hesitant to put our campus volume license key on these VMs, since one could recover that key from the system and then it could become publicly available.  Clearly that would be bad.
    >
    > That may be not a problem because those keys "usually" work only with the corresponding media - people would need to get their hands on a coorporate installation media to actually use it.
I'm not sure how challenging that in fact might be.  A quick Google search turned up lots of sites that at least claim to have Windows volume keys and necessary install media.  I know that college students can be very adept at things in that domain.
    > The biggest problem you might face is the UUID of the client instances - they will be identical. If you plan to use Active Directory functionality (for e. g. Single Sign On) then you need to make sure each VM is different (speaking of running sysprep) and that you have a different user on each VM - which will be not easy to mantain.
If I'm understanding your thought correctly, the UUID issue is why I thought attempting 1 shared OS license key for all VMs would be problematic.  My assumption is that having a unique OS key on each VM would solve this problem.
As far Active Directory goes, that likely won't be an issue. Our students have storage on the campus network, but we have no plans for the VM to access that.  All our SAP resources are hosted remotely at a UCC.  I envision the students being able to 'boot' their VM, connect to the UCC using the client software, do their SAP work, and be done.  The only storage they'd have in the VM would be a drive in the VM.  While this might not work in many deployments, given our use of this just for lab instruction, I think it would work well.
    > Another point to consider is: How to update? If you update your main image (e. g. necessary SAPGUI patches) - how will you distribute that to the USB-VMs - or how will you make sure the students use the latest copy?
This is where our situation and a corporate situation likely differs.  Since we are hosted by a UCC that caters just to the academic environment things tend to be build and frozen during the summer and then not changed until the next year.  Our classes run each semester independently.  Although we may have to roll out a different VM from one semester to the next, a mid-semester change shouldn't be needed.  However, having said that, if we do need to install a patch, that should be much easier.  In a lab shared environment updating a software version requires a lot of coordination.  In this VM situation, each students has full administrator privilege over their VM.  If they need to install a patch, they can do so.  If they mess this up, they haven't disrupted anyone else.  In that instance they could just download the base VM again as a 'reset.'
    > In such an environment I'd more think about setting up a terminal server (using Windows 2003) and install all necessary software there. With that you only need to update at one place, you can granularily give permissions to the users and supporting users in case of a proble is easier (mirroring the session) than having single instances with all the same hostname of the client. And all students only need an RDP client which comes with the Windows XP or Vista by default.
That is something we haven't considered with this project, and I'll have to check with our system manager.  Resources might be an issue here.  We have an abundance of PCs, so each of them running their own VM isn't an issue.  I'm not sure if we have a server capable of supporting 30-40 simultaneous remote connections that is not otherwise in use.
Thanks for your ideas here Markus.  Any other thoughts, ideas, etc. are most welcome.  I'll also update this thread as I start experimenting with this over the next couple of weeks.

  • Installation of SAP Business One client and required administration rights

    Dear community,
I would like to kindly ask you for your feedback on the installation of SAP Business One client and its patches on end-user computers.
The pain points I have heard so far are the following:
    - The installation of SAP Business One client and its patches has to be started by a user with administrator rights.  As far as I know (and please correct me if I am wrong), this is also required in case of installation of any other software.
    - End users usually do not have administrator rights and therefore the SAP Business One clients have to be manually upgraded by administrator.  This is time consuming (and therefore costly) activity.
We are considering to design a new solution which would overcome the above limitations.
I would like to confirm with you if my understanding is correct:
    Question 1:
Is it a common situation that the end-users of SAP Business One client do not have administrator rights and therefore cannot install the patches of SAP Business One client by themselves?
If yes, how do you resolve this currently?
    Question 2:
Do you use Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager or Active Directory (or any other 3rd party solution) to automatically distribute software packages and updates to client PCs at your customers?
    Question 3:
If the SAP Business One client installation (and its patches) is delivered as MSI package with silent installation capability, would you be able to automate the deployment of B1 client updates to client PC using the abovementioned technologies? Or can you still see some obstacles?
    Thank you
    Best regards

    SAP Business One Product Management

    Dear all,
Thank you very much for your comments, very helpful!
@Marco - SAP Business One 8.8 client currently does not support the silent installation / upgrade. However we are currently considering this requirement and we would like to deliver it as soon as possible.
We are currently considering several possible designs. One of them is as follows:
    1. A new SAP Business One Updater Service will be installed on each client workstation.
It will be a windows service installed and running under a local system account.
    2. The updater service will check regularly if there are any new patches of SAP Business One client or add-ons uploaded to a configured shared directory.
    3. If a new patch is found in the shared directory, the updater service will SILENTLY install the new patch (add-ons, SAP Business One) on the client workstation.
The service would be able to install patches even if nobody is logged in.
    Questions:
If we consider the above design, there are a few open topics:
    1. During the upgrade of the SAP Business One server, the client patches (and SAP add-on patches, partner add-ons) would be placed to a SHARED directory instead of into SBO-Common (as it is implemented currently).
    - Does this have any impact on your tools, processes or add-ons?
    2. SAP Business One upgrade wizard will put the latest patch of SAP Business One client into a configured shared directory. The shared directory will have to be read-only for everybody in the network to avoid that the valid installation files are replaced by malware or virus infected files
    - Can you configure such a shared directory?
From customer perspective, if a new patch is put into the shared directory, the updater service can behave as follows:
    1. Manually initiated upgrade of the client
Example: Customer starts the old (not upgraded) SAP Business One client. The client will inform him/her that a new patch has been found and it has to be installed in order to continue working with the client. After customer clicks "Yes", the upgrader service starts the silent installation of the client and informs customer about the progress. Once the upgrade is finished, the upgraded SAP Business One client will be started automatically.
    2. Automatic update:
       - Update the client automatically (e.g. overnight) if customer is not working with SAP Business One
       - If SAP Business One client is running, ask customer if he/she wishes to upgrade the client now or to delay the upgrade by X minutes.
Question: Which of the above two scenarios would you and your customers prefer?
If the upgrade is fully silent, automated and handled by the upgrader service, Is it acceptable for customers to trigger the installation manually and wait till the client is upgraded? Or would they prefer to have the client updated for them e.g. overnight so they can immediately start to work?
    Best regards

  • Oledb and path length - Oracle client and networking components ...

    Hello,
    I've been suddenly getting the
"Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or later client software installation."
error when trying to connect to an oracle 9.2 database using the msdaora oledb provider.
"..ora92/bin" is in my PATH environoment variable and the hints about setting read and execute permissions on the ..ora92/bin direction didn't work for me. However, what did do the trick, was reducing the length the PATH environement variable to under 182 characters.
Anybody else seen this that can explain what's gonig on here?
    Erik

    Hello Kamal,
    Thanks for your reply
    My system looks like this:
OS: MS Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
    msdaora version: 2.81.1117.0
This problem has only recently surfaced, but has now appeared on at least two other systems as well as my own. Any system changes must have happened on all three systems. I have "automatic updates" setup on my computer and they maybe setup on the other computers - could the be responsible for breaking oledb?
    Other things I have tried:
The Oracle Oledb provider is also not working. It gives me the error:
"OraOLEDBpus.dll: the specified module could not be found"
When I reduce the size of the PATH variable it works too.
I am always able to run executables from the ../ora92/bin directory. So the path is only being wrongly interpreted by the Oledb providers.

  • Internet Based Clients and Native Mode

    Hi guys,
I have a question.... We have SCCM 2007 SP2 running in mixed mode in the environment. Now we plan to support internet based clients. Here is the current Hierarchy in mixed mode.
    1 Central Server
    1 Primary Server
3 Secondary servers under above Primary Server
Now as the requirement is to support internet based clients and want them to support on office LAN as well when they come to the office....this is what I would be doing : ( Theoretically I know, I need the practical steps to achieve that )
    1. Get all the 3 PKI Certificates : Site Server Signing, Web Server, Client agent.
    2. Make sure all the required ports are opened in-between Intranet <->DMZ AND DMZ <-> Internet
    3. Migrate Central server from Mixed to Native Mode.
    4. Install another Primary Server on Intranet in Native mode.
    5. Create a site system server connected to newly created Native Primary Site in the DMZ zone with these roles installed : MP, SUP and DP.
    6. Re-install all the SCCM clients in the environment with the command-line so that they can be supported on both internet and intranet.
    7. Make sure internet clients are able to connect DMZ site system server via internet.
Please let me know if I'm missing something here and let me know the practical steps to achieve this.
Request you not to share Microsoft technet link for the same. Please share some step-by-step practical document etc.. to achieve this.
    Thanks,
    Sam

    1. This is incorrect. You need more than a single web server cert and client cert. You need a unique server auth cert for *every* one of your systems hosting a client role like the MP, DP, and SUP. Also, you need a unique client auth cert for each and *every*
client that may/will connect via the Internet.
    4. Standing up a whole extra site just to support IBCM is a bit overkill. It does allow you to keep your "main" primary site in mixed mode, but it does add some overhead and cost and is not technically necessary.
    6. Incorrect. You only need to reinstall clients that will be configured as "Internet-only". Intranet clients should pick up the internet facing roles via policy. You can verify this by checking locationservices.log on the clients after they are successfully
communicating and the Internet facing roles are stood up and healthy.
You've made no account above for the CDP or CRL checking. This is a major stumbling block for many folks.
