Client copy to another server

I would like to copy client from one server to another server.I beleive i can use client export/import for the copy but my question is that did i need to do any connection between two servers??

Hi Samson,
For an e.g If you are using two system landscape i.e DEV & PRD system .Then perform below steps to maintain TMS in your landscape.
1.On DEV server ---> Use client 000 with user DDIC/<password>.
2.Execute SE06 --> Choose std system installation & perform post installation actions.
3.Execute STMS & maintain/save it as a domain controller.
4.Under STMS --> system overview maintain a virtual system entry for PRD & maintain transport routes
On PRD end:
1.Execute STMS & choose to add in transport domain controller.
Hope this will help you, also you'll get lots of step by step execution material to maintain TMS on internet.

Gaurav

  • Need client copy of production server in quality server

    Hi,
I need the client copy of production server with application data in quality server. How i do this?
Main purpose is we have no data in quality server in testing purpose.  if we configure the client of production server in Quality, we can test it by our requirement.
    Regards
    Somu

    Try this
Preparatory steps in source SAP system
1 Take the trace of control file in the source system using the following command at SQL prompt as below:
    SQL>alter database backup controlfile to trace;
The trace file can be found in the location <drive>\Oracle\<SID>\saptrace\usertrace.
    2. Open the file with notepad and save a copy as controlsrc.txt
    3. Stop the SAP
4 Shutdown the database from SQL prompt.
    5. Take backup of database files.
    6. Start SAP
    Steps in the Target system
    7. Install SAP system with <TGTSID>
    8. Stop the SAP.
    9. Shutdown the database from SQL prompt.
    10. Take the backup of database files.
    11. Edit controlfilesrc.txt with regard to the locations of datafiles of source system to be placed in target system taking in to account the space available in different drives and save as control.sql. Also SET DATABASE u201C<TGTSID>u201D RESETLOGS.
    12. Replace the database files with source systems database files conforming to the control.sql
    13. Start the database in nomount state from SQL prompt as below.
    SQL>startup nomount
    14. Run the control.sql script as follows:
    SQL>@@<location of directory>\control.sql.
Once the script runs successfully, the database will be in mount state
    15. Open the database with resetlogs option as follow:
    SQL>alter database open resetlogs;
    16. Create OPS$ users of source system conforming to target system conventions in database.
17 Set the environment variable dbs_ora_schema to SAP<SRCSID> as the owner of the database objects will still be as SAP<SRCSID>..
    18. Start SAP.

  • Portal not starting after a copy on another server

We have copy our development portal to another server. We are working
    on a EP 6.0 SP2 Patch4 on a WAS 6.20.
The j2ee engine is working correctly but the dispatcher can not start.
The error message is "Service Unavailable 503! Initialization of
Dispatcher failed" when we try to connect the irj part.
It can come from the LDAP connection and we want to break that link.
    Help will be appreciated.

I ran the report "RSCLICHK" on the target client and below are the results. There are  some table differences. How do i syncronnize the tables so that i can successfully complete the remote client copy? Do i make the table changes on the source system or the target system? I was also told that the table changes will take days to complete. What is the most efficient way to syncronize the tables?

  • Inconsistant transport requests after local client copy

    Dear experts,
our IT department just made a local client copy with profile SAP_ALL, by which all the transport requests had been copied, too, including quite a lot of workbench and customizing orders in status changeable. I'm supposed to do some basic setup and cleanup in the new client, but I'm confronted with problems like objects being locked in orders/requests that cannot be changed in the new client, as they belong to the original source client.
How can I get rid of those inconsistencies? I'd preferred the new client without transports and without locked objects. Is it really necessary that I clean up this mess manually? Would it have been better to clean this up before the client copy? Or could we just do the client copy with another profile in order to avoid those problems?
    Thanks for your appreciated help
    Andreas

    Hello,
Transports are NEVER part of a client copy.
In fact all the data of your transports is stored in tables that are client independent (E07* tables).
This means that you can view (not edit) always all transports from all clients in a specific system.
When you want to edit or release a transport the source client is important (in which client was the transport originally created).
This is stored in table E070C for all transports and can not be overruled.
So I recommend that you don't clean anything related to transports after a client copy because this will also impact the other clients !
    Success.

  • Can a client be refreshed with client copy?

I created a new client by
doing client copy from client 200 creating client 202
Now I want to refresh client 202 from client 200 (ALL ON SAME SERVER) , can I just re-run the client copy with source client being client 200 to client 202?
If so what am I to expect?
If not, then do I need to first drop client 202 and then do the client copy to re-create the client?
    maria

    Dear Maria,
    Greetings!
To be clear, now your situation is to have a client copy from your Production client 200 to the Quality client 202.
Coming to the status of other clients in Quality system, the data or any other settings of the other clients is NOT going to be changed because of this client copy.
As far as the configuration part, you will have to perform the following functionalities in your Target client (Quality - 202)
    1. Transaction SCC9 - Select Profile - Choose the SAP profile as per your need.
    2. Enter the RFC destination to the Source system client - Production Client 200 - This RFC destination could be an already existing connection between both the systems or a newly created one.
    3. Make an RFC system comparison to be sure that the connection is perfect.
    4. Set-up the parallel processing parameters, Menu option Goto - Parallel Process. This option is dependent on the physical memory availability of the Quality server.
    5. Execute a TEST RUN, prior to start of the actual client copy to verify Target client feasibilities. In case of any mismatch in table definition or table fields corresponding action has to be performed.
Please remember the following pre-requsities before starting the client copy.
    1. Both the Source and Target client is to be locked against access to end users or other users. For a pre-caution lock all the users except SAP*, DDIC, TMSADM, BASIS and other System Admin users in both the clients.
    2. No auto-logout parameters or restrictions on workprocess runtime exists as profile parameters in the system.
    3. Additional space for a client is available in the database so the the client copy in not interrupted.
Kindly process the client copy in a server session such that network interruptions and other interruptions could be avoided.
Kindly revert in case you need further informations on the same.
    Thank you

    Vineeth

  • During client copy tabels missing

    hello,
while  client copy from production server to quality server , error occured tables missing . plz help me.

    Hi,
If you perform remote client copy ABAP dictionaty objects are not copied.
So, before you perform such copy ensure that both systems are consistent (SUPPORT PACKS + ALL CONFIG TRANSPORTS  MUST BE EQUAL).
Compare in ABAP dictionary (se11) of both systems if the missing tables exist and if they are active.
If there is table on source system and is missing on target : look for transport which contains this table and apply it to target setrver.

Not to mention that some FTP servers can return more than one return message per operation whereas others may return one message for the same operation.I had the problem using the LIST command to determine if a file exists on the server. Cannot be determined via the FTP server's return code. Which means parsing and checking the text response from the server to the command. And this vary from server to server.
But the basics were quite easy to code. The entire package is 500 lines, includes comments and blank lines for formatting, and supports the basic FTP client command set. Not really a complex piece of software to write - but I found that many developers seem to think that writing network socket software is complex. Not really the case...Mine's a big larger, but incorporates functionality similar to what Chris provided in his, such as being able to use SQL to query a remote file using pipelined functions, or functionality to write the results of a query directly to a remove file.

  • User copy from another client

    hi guru
how can user copy from another client
    thanks

    Rajesh,
If you are looking for copying users on same server to another client, please follow the below steps:
    Logon to target client.
Execute Tcode SCCL. In SCCL choose source client and choose profile SAP_UONL.
Now select "Schedule as a background job"
This will copy only users to your target client.

  • While deploying to another server from RM client using build definition i got below error "Package location does not exist or deployer user does not have access"

We have installed RM client in the POC  server .
Installed Deployment Agent in Dev server .
We created Configuration stages  for POC->Dev.
We created a template with x copy deployer  and  selected source as build definition.
While releasing we faced following issue ,
The release was success in POC (Where RM client is installed), but in  DEV environment (Which is different server)it got rejected because of  the error

There is quite a bit to do to get RM working successfully. I have a soup-to-nuts guide on implementing continuous delivery with TFS and RM

  • Needed to copy the share from one server to share in another server

    Hi ,
Needed to copy the data from one share named as xyz in the server 1 to the another share abc in another server 2.
Share xyz data should be copied to the share abc which has already different data in it .We need to copy all the data from the share xyz to the share abc  without deleting any existing data in the destination share.
I know that /MIR option will replace the destination same as source
Can anybody help us in the Robocopy command & switches for this activity?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks & Regards S.Swaminathan Live & let others live!!!

    Hi Mandy,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have done many robocopy for the share movements from the one server joined in a domain to another server joined in the same domain. In that instances, the destination server will not be having any share of the old server name and just I robocopy the share
from the old server to the new server after creating a new share .The usual command is as follows:
    "\\server1\oldshare" \\server2\newshare" *.* *.* *.* /ZB /E /COPY:DATO /XJ /R:0 /W:0 /TEE /dcopy:T /NP /log:c:\robocopy.txt
And after the copy , during the cutover of the standalone DFS pointing to the new share , the domain users in the corresponding access groups (name of the groups based on the old server name) of Full,Modify,Read will be appropriately copied to the respective
new  groups (name of the groups based on the new server name) of the new share and the access is ensured by the users.
But in this case , the destination server is already having a share with existing data in it and to be added with the old share data
My question is shall I use the same command as before by copying all the data to the newly created subfolder inside the existiing destination share through the following command
    "\\server1\oldshare" \\server2\newshare\new sub-folder" *.* *.* *.* /ZB /E /COPY:DATO /XJ /R:0 /W:0 /TEE /dcopy:T /NP /log:c:\robocopy.txt
You have already mentioned /E without purge options will do.
Just asking one more time for the safer side
Thanks & Regards S.Swaminathan Live & let others live!!!

  • How to assign values to server group when you parallelly client-copying

    Hello all,
I'm now trying to create server group.
Currently, I use serial process, or default settings, when client-copying.
But I want to implement this in parallel processes.
Due to this, I have to create server group and assign a lot of values to something I don't know!
I want to create a server group, but don't know how to assign values to ones like "Max. requests in queue", "Max. no of logons" and so on.
    Could you please advise me how to allocate values to the resourses shown below;
Advanced : 1 *I think "1" is the flag for advanced settings
    Max. requests in queue
    Max. no.  of logons
    Max. disp. of own logon
Max. no. of WPs used: *should be the total of SM50, I guess
    Min. no. of free WPs
    Max. no. of comm. entries
    Max. wait time
    thanks in advance,

no it is not possible to have more then one integration server (XI)

Do you have the ability to import a transport into your second server?  The easiest way to accomplish this is to create a Transport Request in your originating system, release the transport, and have you basis admins import it into the second server.
