I have a machine that has win2000 as operating. I have installed Oracle 8i and Developer 2000. I have developed an application using both. Recently I got another machine. Now I would like to install win98 on this and this machine get connected with the first machine having win2000. After this I would like to install Oracle and Developer 2000 as client on this machine having win98 and run my application from this machine as client.
Can somebody can help me how to connect win98 machine to win2000machine. After this how to install oracle and developer on this as client and that gets connected to server i.e win2000having the server oracle.
I have never done this earlier, so please help me.
thanks in advance

The easiest way to set up SQLNET connection is using the sqlnet easy config wizard. it will take you step by step through the process. All you need to know are the ip address of your server and the SID of the database.

    Hi,
are you on itanium or x86? Your log says, "inux_ia32_jrockit_160_14_R27.6.5-32_jdk.zip not found" that means you should have itanium.

  • New Server Installation, now client computers can't connect to services. Where to go from here?

    Hello.
I recently had to setup a new Mac Mini Server (Mavericks). We had one previously but one of the raided hard drives failed. No backup.
Our office of 6 Apple MacBook Pros used to connect to all file sharing and calendar services, easily.
On the new Server installation, I added the same users with the same passwords etc. The client computers cannot access calendars, file sharing etc. On the clients, I have opened up System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options > Network Account Server and added the FQDN of the server, but I get an error ' Unable to add server. Connection failed to the directory server. (2100) '
2 of the clients are on Mountain Lion. The rest are on the latest Mavericks.
I'm a bit lost on where to go from here and would appreciate your help before I wipe everything and start from scratch.
    Thanks.

    Hi Strontium90
Ha! There was a time machine backup, but we had a storm here which rendered it and the server useless. We are such a small team without an 'IT' guy, apart form me as I have a vague interest in all things Apple.
What is your DNS name space?
Do you need the name here?
Do the servers and the client agree on this name?
Not sure what you mean. The domain name works as when I type it into a web browser, I can see the 'Welcome to Server' page.
Did you enable an Open Directory Master?
    Yes. Open Directory is running.
Did you grant the users/group access to the service you are offering?
Yes. All services are checked for each user.
Make sure the user/group is permitted to access your enabled services.
    All allowed, too.
Oh, and implement a backup strategy
Will do, once I sort out this problem. Time Machine and off-site, I think.

  • Requirement for client and server installation

    Hi,
I am using Oracle database 10g and Oracle Developer 10g.I'd like to make a client server application.
    1. What installation is required for the server side?
    2. What installation is required for the client side?
    3. I'd like the client to access the form application using internet browser. What are the configuration should I fullfil?
    Many Thanks,
    Imelda

    Hi,
there is no client-server anymore in Oracle Forms. Its a web only deployment. So 1-2 no longer apply.
    3) You need to install Oracle Jinitiator on the client or the Java 1.4 Plugin. Both can be configured for automatic installation.
See the Oracle Application Server documentation and whitepapers on otn.oracle.com/products/forms to learn about how to install and run Forms Services

  • Has the ODI same installable for both Client & Server?

Has the ODI same installable for both Client & Server?
i.e. Team with multiple developers is concurrently working on ODI project. Repository is very much same. They just need the Designer Module in their desktop.
Is there separate installable for development IDE for ODI (Designer Module) instead of complete ODI which may include the server also?
    Thanks In Advance
    priyadarshi.

    Hi ,
You can install only the client in multiple machine if multiple user are going use/share the same repository ... and you should be having the same
    snps_login_work.xml
    snps_login_security.xml
in all your client installations....so that you can have multiple users created and share the same repositroy ...
    hope this helps

  • Diff betn client installation & server Installation

can anybody pls tell me the difference between client installation & server installation of oracle 9i

    The Client
The client is the front-end database application, accessed by a user through the keyboard, display, and pointing device, such as a mouse. The client has no data access responsibilities. It requests, processes, and presents data managed by the server. The client workstation can be optimized for its job. For example, it might not need large disk capacity, or it might benefit from graphic capabilities.
Often, the client runs on a different computer than the database server, generally on a PC. Many clients can simultaneously run against one server.
    The Server
The server runs Oracle software and handles the functions required for concurrent, shared data access. The server receives and processes the SQL and PL/SQL statements that originate from client applications. The computer that manages the server can be optimized for its duties. For example, it can have large disk capacity and fast processors.
More at (Oracle Database Concepts guide) http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96524/c01_02intro.htm#43056
So basicaly if you will install client then you will install binaries and libraries for connecting and using to database server.

  • Client Server product installation over Windows Terminal Server

    Hi,
Have anyone tried installing oracle based client/server applications over WTS? I have a specific requirement wherein my WAN is connected on low speed lines. I've tried this installation but the performance seems to degrade very badly. Can you suggest me a solution to this issue. Further I'm facing problems when trying to print on Local printers. Any ideas???
    Thank in advance
    vinod

    Please see http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/htdocs/formsservicesfaq.html
It's stated here that this kind of installation is not supported. You would need to post a question on the Forms Forum for more details.

    Hi,
Thet NetCA error occurs during installation and I believe the installer should take care of the ORACLE_HOME variable setting.
But before invoking sqlplus I have set the ORACLE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting in the .bash_profile as mentioned in the installation guide. The snippet of the profile file is:
    export ORACLE_HOME=~/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/client_1
    export JAVA_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME/jdk
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH;
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export TNS_ADMIN=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    export TWO_TASK=mmcoedb
I am able to tnsping to the server/service name too but when I try to login using the user/password using sqlplus, it simply exits without any error.
Please let me know how to resolve the error.

  • SAP DMS server installation Query

    Guys,
I would like to share my plans on DMS server installation under DEV,Quality, prod stage and requesting you all to validate and send me any comments if I am wrong anywhere.
    -        We have 1 external DMS server of (250Gb capacity)
    -     We are now in realization phase, As we know that we have 3 servers namly Development, quality and production server.
    -     In Development Server we do Baseline DMS customization
    -     In Quality server we do Integration testing
    -     There will be as external computer with harddisk capacity of 80 GB,I will Install Content server CD and make that 80GB hard disk as content server for storing the documents, create content repository and store the documents which are to be tested under both development and quality server stage(Note : we can use SAP database for both testing purpose but If we load huge data there,it will slowdown the server drastically)
    -     During the production server install the DMS server (250 gb) and define the content repository config under production server and start storing all the fresh document
    -     Note: Since the tested documents are stored in local PC we can avoid all the tested documents under quality stage only, once the DMS server is installaed in production server we can freshly load the documents.
    -     Note: I knew I have to install twice the Content server cd(once with 80 GB local hard disk and later with External DMS  server)
This is how I planned, I request you to highlight the pain areas by this method else give me the confidence of how I planned?
I appreciate for immediate solution; also how does Kpro comes into picture here.
Points will be rewarded for sure.
    Regards,
    Murali.S
    DMS consultant

    Hi Murali,
As per my understanding you want to keep a Temporary Content Server for your Dev & QA system but a full fledge 250GB Content server for Production.
This is a Good method you are following, i.e. when you go for production you will not have any junk data, you will be loading only fresh data (originals) into it.
There is nothing harm or pain in doing this, only thing is you have re-configure the Content Repository and Category in Production System (SAP).
Your Basis person has to open Production System for doing this Settings (Defining Content Repository and Content Category with Port, HTTP, etc)
Document Area to be ensured in each client at any point of time, Physical machine, IP address, Port etc.
You can maintain a Excel sheet with a following Columns:
<b>Client, Content Category, Content Repository, Document Area, Physical Machine, IP Address, Port.</b>
    For Transaction OACT & OAC0.
    Rest your method is fantastic.
    Best Regards
    Rehman
    Reward Your Points If satisfied.

  • Oracle 9i Sample Schema running in client/server mode?

I've got Oracle 9i up on RH7.3 and have successfully executed the sample schema on the Server using the mksample.sql script.
Now the challenge is to run these same (sample schema) SQL scripts across a network using a 9i client. I copied the demo/schema files from the server installation to the client but when I invoke the mksample script the passwords have to include a connect_identifier which, in this environment, causes the subordinate scripts to get confused.
Has anyone else attempted to do this?

You did not have to change any of your scripts to put the connect_identifier.
Within SQL*Plus you can use the "SET INSTANCE <connect_identifier>" command to make that Oracle instance
your default for this session. After you do this, all your connect statements will not require a
    connect_identifier.
    ==============================================================
    $ sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> set instance ORA901
    Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.0.1.1.1 - Production
    With the Partitioning option
    JServer Release 9.0.1.1.1 - Production
    SQL> connect scott/tiger
    Connected.
    SQL>
    ==============================================================
As you can see, after the SET INSTANCE command, the connect command does not need a connect_identifier.

  • Running reports created with Reports 9i in client-server configuration

I need to have users run reports created with Oracle Reports 9i on workstations without any Oracle products installed on it, (in a client-server configuration as opposed to Web based) . I am looking for a step-by-step approach to accomplish this. I looked through the installation documents in OTN and I did not see one that addressed this.
BTW, I saw an earlier post in this form which disscussed this, indirectly, for Reports 6i but I don't think these steps will work for 9i rpeorts

    Question:
I have an application in Oracle 8i, Forms 6i, Reports 6i. Now I want to make executable CD which will be installable in nature. I don't know how to make it or what tools to be used for this . Kindly help me out.
    Answer:
You can write a .bat file for installation.....
This file should do following things.
    1. Oracle8 Personal Setup
    Install only Database (no tools)
    2. Oracle Developer200 Setup
    Install only Forms Runtime
    Reports Runtime
    Graphics Runtime
    3. Use imp/exp to put the desired database...
    4. Copy exexutables in some directory and place shortcuts in programs and destkop
    5. Make new file-types in start->setting ->folder options-> file-types
and specify that in which runtime-application you want to open your executables....
    Thanks in advance,
    Audrey Watson

    hi audrey,
there is no client/server runtime available for reports9i. what
you can do is to use the rwclient executable shipped with IDS
to submit jobs to the reports server.
there are plans to provide a stand alone thin client in the
future but this is not available yet.

I've been researching a bit further on the forum. From what I understand, with Adobe Reader 7 and onwards the 'bUI: false' statement is no longer a trusted function.
There has been suggestions to create a folder level script file that specifies this as a trusted function, however in my company this is not practical. This email function will be used in a form used across the globe by hundreds of our users. Therefore a local script (.js) file is not suitable in this instance.
Is it not possible to code this within the button script itself, rather than using a seperate .js file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Modifying existing BO Server Installation

I've found the following articale warning that any modification made to the base install of a server installation will require any subsequent service packs and patches to be reinstalled after modification.
The article is filed under XI R2 and XI 3.1
Can anyone confirm if this still applies to BI4.0?
    http://busobj.wordpress.com/2010/05/03/modifying-your-existing-businessobjects-enterprise-server-or-client-installation/
    Many Thanks
    Simon

    Hi Simon,
I don't see any other way SAP can accommodate this. Let's take an example where we make custom change to a CSS file. How can SAP ensure that their next release (SP or Fixpack) merges their changes (in case if the same CSS is changed) instead of simply replacing the CSS file with the new file.
Alternate option - SAP has provided the SDK to enable the customers to create custom applications that can be managed by us and this custom developed application wouldn't get overwritten.

  • Client Server mode for time ten connection

Hi, I am new to Times Ten and got a question for running TimesTen in Client Server Mode. When it is running in Client/Server mode:
Does the database just run like a regular remote database ?
Is there security for the remote application, such as userid/password ?
Is there any limitation on number of remote connection can concurrently connect to the DB ?
Does it use the JDBC or it has to be the native library ?
    Thank you for your help
    Henry

    Hi,
With regard to your questions regarding TimesTen client/server mode:
    1. Does the database just run like a regular remote database ?
I'm not sure exactly what you are getting at here but yes, I would say that it runs like any other c/s database. If you can be more specific in your question then I can give a more precise answer.
    2. Is there security for the remote application, such as userid/password ?
If the TimesTen instance to which you are connecting was installed with Access Control enabled then yes, normal userid/password security applies. The client application must provide a valid TimesTen userid and password in order to establish a connection.
    3. Is there any limitation on number of remote connection can concurrently connect to the DB ?
Subject to O/S resource limitations, a single instance of TimesTen (i.e. the TT server) supports a maximum of 9,999 concurrent client/server connections. Each individual datastore supports a maximum of 2047 concurrent connections (direct and client/server).
    4. Does it use the JDBC or it has to be the native library ?
The TimesTen JDBC driver supports both direct modde and client/server. The TimesTen ODBC driver is provided in both direct mode and client/server versions. The JDBC driver uses the ODBC driver (it is a type 2 JDBC driver) and so the client machine requires a TimesTen client installation to use either ODBC or JDBC to access a remote datastore.
