Client Server Via Modem

I have One Server(database) with two modems and two clients having One modem each.
Four dedicated Telephone Lines connected.
How I can configure Forms on Clients to access data from database Server.
Regards,
Abid Hussain.

Eric,
Calling all CUPS gurus
worked and stopped working and works again.
i have a server (CUPS accessed by server:631/faxqueuename) with snow leopard and fax attached - snow leopard machines print to it fine
i have an Air with Lion (CUPS accessed by localhost:631)and when i add network fax printer and print get "no number" thing
so i made a printer on localhost with ip address and Fax.ppd
then I got 2. and now one of them faxes.
strange thing is there are now two faxes and second one works as you can see.

  • Establish a connection through RF modem's on client & server side & to set up PPP communication for data transfer

    hi
can any1 over here help me out in how to establish connection between 2 RF modem's for data transfer , between client & server USing LABVIEW?
I want to establish a connection between 2 PC's through  RF modem on client & server side & to set up PPP communication for data transfer.
(I have tried data transfer through RS-232 using TCP/IP whn the 2 PC's are connected over ethernet... which is working.
I also tried connecting loopback cable between 2 PC's COM port & geting data transfer using VIsa configure serial port & other visa functions  ... which is working)
can u guide me how to establish connection between 2 RF modem's using LABview?
& how does the data transfer take place between 2 RF modems through RS-232?
    is it using TCP/IP?
If you got any links to go abt this issue do send me related links .. or any examples .....
I am currently using Labview version 8.
    Waiting in anticipation.. reply ASAP..
    thanking you
    Regards
    Yogan..

    Howdy yogan,
Maybe you could clarify a few things for me, and we'll see how we can help ya. TCP/IP protocol occurs through an ethernet connection; RS-232 communication occurs through an RS-232 serial connection, typically through a cable that has a DB9 connector on both ends. Do you mean that the RF modems in question have the option to communicate via RS-232 and/or via TCP/IP ethernet? Specific information like the manufacturer of your RF modems, the model number of your RF modems, and how you connect the modems to the PC would enable us to give you more efficient support.
You can check our Instrument Driver Network (IDNet) to see if a plug-and-play/IVI driver already exists for your RF modem. (You'll need to know its manufacturer and model number.) In the case that you do find an IDNet driver for your modem, you can use this KnowledgeBase article for instructions on how to use the driver.
Another excellent resource to consider is the NI Example Finder. You can access this within LabVIEW by navigating to Help»Find Examples and then searching for serial or TCP/IP examples.

  • Re: Connecting environments via modem

    John,
The circumstance surrounding your question (namely a modem)
suggested the use of 'Disconnected clients' or 'Nomadic clients.
So I'll just throw that out just in case you are not aware
    of it.
Through the use of DistObjectMgr class and the -fs switch, you can
have a client come up in standalone mode, and only connecting to a
service object on demand. There is an example on how to do this
    in /install/examples/frame/nomad.pex.

Couple of thoughts ... some you can immediately dismiss ...
    1. Cert has expired (dismissed I know)
    2. Run the console through an xserver or through the UNIX console to see if you have the same issues.
    3. Check the cn=encryption,cn=config entry's attribute to see if it reads nsSSLClientAuth: allowed. If it reads required - you can ldapmodify it to allowed and restart the server. However this will obviously allow clients to bind in non-SSL fashion - which maybe is ok?

  • Accessing a server via the Server app from outside a router firewall

So I'm trying to access my server using the Server app on a MacBook Pro outside my server network.  I can access it just fine when my client is inside the server network, but I cannot connect when outside the server network.
    I've done the following troubleshooting:
    - I've turned off the server Firewall option available in the server's Server Admin tool
    - I've set up port forwarding on my router
    - I've opened up port 311 on the router
    - I've placed the server outside the router DMZ zone and the Server app connects just fine
    - I've checked the box "Allow remote administration using Server" in the server's Server app Settings tab
    - With the router configured correctly, the Server app cannot access the server
There's something in the router that is blocking access by the Server app.  Apple Enterprise support says they are sure there is no other port to open up.  Is there something else I should be doing to access the server from outside the router using a client Server app?
    TIA
ps - this worked fine when I just had the server hanging directly off a cable modem.

I and I suspect a lot of other admins would argue you should not be making your server accessible via Server.app remotely due to security concerns. Saying that, I and again I suspect a lot of other admins also want/need to be able to remotely administer servers. There is a better way however to achieve this.
You should be running a VPN server, perhaps using your same Mac server. You should leave the firewall blocking access directly for Server.app but if your remote Mac first connects via the VPN it will then be connected securely to your internal network and then be able to use Server.app

  • Client == server - problems with callbacks

    Hi everyone!
I'm having trouble establishing bidirectional communication between a client and a server (code samples are below).
Both classes (client & server) extend UnicastRemoteObject and implement Interfaces that are extending Remote. Now the client looks up the server and tries to register itself at the server by calling a method like this:
    remote_server.setClient(this);
as long as I execute both programs in the same LAN this method-call works fine, but when client and server connect through internet I'm getting the following exception:
    ---------------------- Exception ------------------------>
java.rmi.ServerException: RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is:
java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: 192.168.0.3; nested exception is:
         java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out
         at sun.rmi.server.UnicastServerRef.dispatch(UnicastServerRef.java:292)
    <---------------------- Exception ------------------------
    maybe helpful:
    - 192.168.0.3 is the client's LAN-IP
    - I am directly connected to the internet via ADSL-modem (no router)
I searched the forums for several hours now, I read through the following tutorial,
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/rmi/exercises/RMICallback/index.html
    but still I didn't find a solution.
I already spent a lot of time developing this and I start to get desperate, so I hope someone of you out there can help me!

Don't feel lost, crumb. Http tunnelling is not as complex as it seems. I just started using RMI at my new job here and in a couple of weeks I've already picked up on alot of what I needed to know. (I just posted a question myself on the same topic.) Basically what you have to do is set up a web server for RMI to talk to at the server side. It will work if the webserver is listening on port 80 with the rmiservlet.ServletHandler registered to respond to any path request of cgi-bin/java-rmi.cgi. In other words "cgi-bin/java-rmi.cgi" should be the servlet-mapping of the ServletHandler. The servlet merly acts as a proxy on behalf of the RMI client and fowards the request to the desired port on the server. If you know how to set up a servlet as the default web app then it is really a breeze. On the client side you only need to set the http.proxyHost and http.proxyPort system properties to the appropriate values for your proxy server. (I mistyped these property names in my prior post use what I have here as I just read it out of the RMI book.) Do a search on HTTP tunnelling and you should turn up dozens of hits. I have the source to the servlet if you need it. I've already modified it for my own purposes though it should still work for you. If you forego http tunnelling then you'll have to do a complete app rewrite to use another protocol because RMI just doesn't work through firewalls without it. Alternatively you can get down and dirty with some low level sockets coding (this is what I'm thinking I'll end up doing eventually) to get it working without standard RMI/HTTP but that's way more complex. Unfortunately it looks like your callback code will need to be rewritten unless you either go commercial or do the socket stuff. (There does seem to be a shareware product called rmi doves that would help you here.) I'll be happy to assits you in any way as you need help.

  • Output to an ftp server via Destinations or Applescript

In Compressor, you can set the Destination of a compression batch to be a remote server, such as an ftp server.
When you start a batch, if the destination is not available or reachable then the documentation (p.230) says: "When there is a problem with your destination, a yellow warning triangle appears. You must resolve this problem before you can successfully transcode."
Although I have not tried it, it implies that if your remote ftp server is not accessible when you drop a file on a created droplet with the Destination set to an ftp server, it won't be able to begin encoding until the destination is available: "As soon as you resolve the problem, the warning triangle disappears and you can continue to transcode." (p.230)
For a lot of people, this is OK.
Some people need to compress and then tranfer the output to a distant location, and they may not have continuous, reliable access to the remote location. They may need to make a temporary connection via modem dial-up, satellite phone or third-world Internet connections. Think news reporters in remote locations.
So, for those people, the option of Applescript should allow them to have their output files saved to a local destination, and then staged up to the ftp server using the built-in commands. But, the problem is that a small file is created at the Destination when the compression is started, and Compressor is not Applescript aware (apart from being able to call an Applescript). This means that any Applescript called as a post processing activity knows nothing about the files Compressor just processed and outputted. It has to glean information about them from the Destination folder where the output files are placed, and then sort out the completed output files from the ones that have just been started, then ftp the completed files up to an ftp server and delete sent files from the Destination folder.
What I would like to see is either
    1) a Staged Destination where files are created on the first Destination then staged to a secondary Destination, with an option of keeping these files on the first destination, and/or
    2) Applescript support in Compressor which will allow information about the files that have just been compressed to be passed to another Applescript aware application or script.
I would be happy even with some sample Applescript to do the transfer or files from Destination to an ftp server that avoids copying files that haven't been fully processed.
Has anyone else run into these issues?
    Bill Lee

Oh, trust me, I do know about Apple and the fact this discussion site is not an official contact point for Apple. I'll be escalating this Request for Enhancement through my contacts at Apple.
There is a reason I have not posted before in this forum (and relates to the above).
There seems to be few people who are using the Applescript post-processing feature, and I was trying to gauge any support for enhancements in this area (and maybe stir up some villagers with pitchforks and burning torches).
Apple will listen to normal users input, but it needs to have a business case that justifies any resources devoted to this. The more people affected, and the greater the impact on your business, and the size/importance of your business has an effect on whether you will get what you want, and when.
Sorry if I was not clear on what I wanted: information as whether this was important for other (non-Apple) people, and whether people had scripts that solved the problem of staging output files to an ftp server that was not consistently connected during the compression process.
    Thanks for your reply,
    Bill Lee

  • Which keys are used in Client/Server Authentication?

    Hi.
I am trying to understand how SunX509 algorithm works in a TLS context. When Server or Client authentication is done, which keys of the keystore are used?
I mean, when you set up your KeyStore instance, it is loaded a whole KeyStore from the filesystem, which has a lot of keys to be used. Are they all tried in order to find the key that authenticates the Client/Server, and when a key that works is found means that Client/Server is authenticated? Or a concrete key with a specific alias is used?
Do you know a doc or something similar where i can see this explanation? I haven't found this matter in JSSE API User's Guide nor in JSSE Javadocs.
    Thanks!

The alias that is chosen is arbitrary and depends upon the order in which the aliases are returned via a hashtable enumeration. If you want to make sure you're using a particular aliasn you must write your own key manager, take a look at the X509KeyManager interface with methods such chooseClientAlias(), chooseServerAlias(), ...

  • Looking for a client/server that supports multiple protocol and delivery

Hi all, I don't know if this the right place to ask my question, here it goes.
I am looking to develop a client-server that supports multiple protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS etc. I am looking for a framework( i don't know if that is correct or I need some kind of web-service (soap etc)) that would manage connection, security etc. I would like to like to devote most of my time in developing business objects with multiple delivery mechanism such as sending serilized java objects, xml message or soap message, or in some case JMS message as well. So I need a client server that can come in via TCP/IP or HTTP or anyother industry standard protocol and I should be able to service him with pub/sub model and also request/response model as well.
I don't know if I had explained what I need, I would like to know what technologies I should be evaluating and which direction I should be heading... Also the server I'm developing should be free of Java constraints if needed...
Also this service is not webbased service as now but if need arises I should have a flexibilty to make them web enabled in future. Also I would like to work with open source webservers or appservers if I need

To change the border of the current client, you can use bn to use the normal border (including window title), bp to use a 1-pixel border (no window title) and bb to make the client borderless. There is also bt  which will toggle the different border styles.
    Examples:
    bindsym Mod1+t bn

    bindsym Mod1+u bb
or put in your config file
    new_window bb

    Hi,
I'm having trouble deploying a composite to a clients server.
I've defined the Configuration Plan to change all the references from our server to the clients server.

Anyone has had the same problem or has any ideia what might be the problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Diogo Henriques

    Hi
Can't offer much help but I just got exactly the same problem also. I just made a minor modification to a simple BPMN Test process. The change involved adding a Script Task and changing the assignment to the Output Argument of a Sub-Process. This change should not have caused any change to the service interface of the process. This was on a local Dev box.
The process does call a Web Service. It was deploying/executing without error at last WLS boot a day ago, the Web Service is running fine and the process is building without error. There have been no other changes.
This seems to be some kind of deployment versioning or stale caching related bug. I just undeployed the current version via EM (which actually reported a failure during undeployment but undeployed anyway!) and rebooted WLS and the deployment was then successful.
See also Error deploying 2 processes in the same project BPM 11gR3 Project
I suspect both of these are symptoms of the the same underlying problem which show up when there are repeated deployments of the same process after changes - regardless of whether you overwrite the existing version or start a new one.

  • Problem using the File Dialog Box in a Client/Server application

I am developping a client-server application using Labview 5.1 . The application on the server acquires data from some instruments and saves it on file, while the application on the clients displayes such acquired data. I have installed Oracle 10g eXpress Edition and uninstalled Oracle 9i client database. I used Oracle 9i client to connect to another Database server on a local LAN. I want to achieve the following:

Database links between Oracle databases do not require ODBC. They do require Oracle Networking (included with both Oracle9i Database and Oracle Database 10g XE) to be configured correctly.
It is also possible to connect ot the 9i database using the 10g Instant Client (separate download)

    3) Create data access to Oracle 10g XE via some ODBC
connection from a C++ runtime application. You can download ODBC drivers from the same location on OTN you downloaded XE. I do not know whether XE includes ODBC drivers. ODBC drivers will usually still require you to configure the Oracle Networking.
There are a number of items that make me believe you do not have a good grasp of Oracle architecture and basics. • OLE Alternatives in Forms 6i Client Server

I'm fishing for some advice and maybe some examples of how to get around an OLE issue that's adversely affecting an upgrade project.
We're currently migrating a Forms 4.5 application to 6i. This application displays MS Word documents (OLE Container) that are stored in the database and uses OLE to open manipulate, and save the documents back to the database. We've come across some serious problems with OLE and 6i that don't look like they'll be fixed any time soon (bug #2615804 in particular).
Since OLE (ActiveX) is not supported a web delivered configuration, we're looking at an alternative to interacting and storing Word documents using a client/server configuration. This will have the added bonus of making the move to web delivery once we decide to go down that path.
Has anyone out there had any good experience with overcoming this OLE problem? It seems like every pre-Forms 9i book out there has touted OLE as a way of interacting with Office tools and now OLE has become a roadblock.
I've had a look at the JACOB example, but that doesn't really help if you're not deploying via the web.

With the beans you've looking at visual stuff : like the look and feel project
With the importer it's more like leveraging java functionality : in my case I've just implemented a call to a webservice on an application server. There is nothing visual here and it's just called via a straight bit of PL/SQL that call my java classes ( however, in that case I could also use UTL_HTTP directly to make the call and thus not bother with java importer - but the database wouldn't allow UTL_HTTP calls :( )
For both of these you'd need to tell forms where to find the JAR file in it's java environment - but you won't have that in c/s
Another way is to load up java code into the database and process it within the database and hide it completely from Forms. I've done this sort of thing loading Apache-FOP into Oracle and creating PDF files in the database (as BLOBS) from XML/XSL also in the database as XMLTYPES.
At least that's my view on how it fits together ... maybe others know more :)

  • GENERATE EXCEL IN CLIENT SERVER ENVIRONMENT

    Hi,

  • Can't start vanilla 8.1.4 platform managed server via NodeManager

I cannot get a managed server to start via the NodeManager if I create a WL Platform domain. I CAN get it to work just fine if I create a regular WLS domain. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this behavior.
    Steps to Reproduce
    ===================
    1) Use the configuration wizard to create a WebLogic Platform domain. Name the domain "Test". Use all defaults.
    2) Once the domain is created, go into the domain directory and run the create_db.cmd script to build out the necessary tables to support the platform domain
    3) Start the node manager. On my machine I use the following command:
    C:\bea\weblogic81\server\bin\startnodemanager 127.0.0.1 5555
    4) Start the admin server via the startWebLogic.cmd file
    5) Open the console for the admin server. Create a Machine "MyMachine" (name is really unimportant). Use the default NodeManager port of 5555
    6) Create a managed server. Call it "test1". Set the port to 8000 and be sure to assign it to the machine you just created.
7)Set the remote start properties. On my machine I just set the classpath to "c:\bea\weblogic81\server\lib\weblogic.jar;C:\bea\weblogic81\workshop\lib\wsrp-common.jar;C:\bea\weblogic81\server\lib\xbean.jar" and I also set the Java Home to point to the default JRocket JVM that ships with 8.1.4
    8) Be sure to save your changes by hitting the "Apply" button. Then using the "Control" tab for the "test1" managed server, click the "Start this Server" link.
    9) Wait about 30 - 40 seconds, then click on the server log for that server. On my machine I get the following exception in the log:
    <Mar 22, 2005 6:04:46 PM PST> <Info> <[email protected]:5555> <Starting Server test::test1 ...>

I am baffled by this error. Can anyone help shed some light on this issue? I'm sure there is some bit I left un-flipped somewhere, but I don't know where to look. Many thanks in advance!

  • The WSUS administration console was unable to connect to the WSUS Server via the remote API. (Server 2k8)

I have installed a new server for WSUS on Server 2k8, This is a stand alone server on Internet No client system is connected on this server as I have to copy these updates to my LAN which never connects to internet. (Previously I was using server 2k3. for
online & server 2008 on my LAN , now I have changed the server for Online)
Wsus has finished the synchronization & downloaded updates of around 67GB & its downloading more updates. The server shows me some updates are waiting to approved. but when I click the link for those updates I get following error message.
error code is as follows -
The WSUS administration console was unable to connect to the WSUS Server via the remote API.
Verify that the Update Services service, IIS and SQL are running on the server. If the problem persists, try restarting IIS, SQL, and the Update Services Service.

I Have tried desabling the firewall, disabling the antivirus protection. Tried by changing the default rule Please Help.

    Hi Sagar,
First, please check if the RAM is exhausted. When there is not enough RAM, this issue may occurs.
Please try to run iisreset on the WSUS server, then try to reconnect.
Also, please try to run the server cleanup wizard to remove the unused update.
    Best Regards.
