Client Silent Installation
Hi,
I would like to make a silent installation of the client products of BO XI 3.1 by creating a .ini file.
In the default install, when you open Desktop Intelligence and go, in the menu, to Tools/Options/File Location, the UserDocs, Universes, Templates, add-ins, xmlsources, xmlFilters directories are set in their default place (C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents....). I would like them to be created and set in a custom directory = C:\DATA\BO\UserDocs, C:\DATA\BO\Universes.....
How could I set up that in the .ini file?
Thanks in advance for your response.
Hi
I have no idea, if this is possible in the .ini file because the location for files is stored in the windows registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\default\BusinessObjects\[username] User Prefs\Directories) in the CURRENT_USER part. The [username] is the Username on Business Objects.
So it is possible to set this environment for each BO user and each Windows User.
As I have to do that in a project, I created a postinstall task with starts at the first start of DeskI and change this entry in the registry. However, I'm not sure if it is a possible solution for your environment.
Regards,
Christoph

Is this a bug in the record of the destinationFile or is there a speciell way to record a custopm installation with all the selected features?

Doc for 10g client silent installation
any documentation for 10g client installation (silent -installation)
Thanks
Ramya<sigh>
Go to the traditional place for documentation, either http://docs.oracle.com or http://tahiti.oracle.com
Get to the 10gR2 documentaiton page. (For your convenience, it is http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/homepage)
Click on the Installation tab at the top of the page to get to the Installation documentation.
Look for the Client Installation Guide for your operating system.
Use your browser to search for 'silent' - that will be in Appendix A
Read the material there.
Anything else?

Hi,
I am having trouble executing the Oracle silent installation instructions for this app.
http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25553_01/install.1012/b25463/clientinstallation.htm#CHDEJIIB
I am unable to extract the package contents using the setup.exe /a command as suggested. The /s /v"qn" switch will not install the package correctly.
I can grab the Oracle Calendar.msi file from the temp directory during an interactive install but cannot find the files that the instructions suggest most importantly the handy unison.ini configuration file is not there :-( .
Can someone help please.Dear all,
I've managed to work this one out for myself. Bit of a nightmare but here we go...
The nub of the problem is that a default value of the variable that sets the installation directory is not being declared in the msi.
As a result of this when you perform an installation without the GUI for some files only the installation path defaults to "" or the root directory of the PC.
Fortunately this path is covered by a Public parameter in the msi file :-) . You can pass public parameters into the msi when you install it. Like this:
msiexec.exe /i "mymsi.msi" MYPUBLICPARAMETER="myvalue"
I used the msitoxml application available on sourceforge to have a look at the parameters inside the msi which I grabbed from the temporary. The public parameters always have capital letters.
So for a silent install of the msi I ended up with this:
msiexec.exe /i "Oracle Calendar.msi" /qn INSTALLDIR="%programfiles%\Oracle\Calendar"
Having got the msi install working I thought I would try to find a way to pass the msi switches into the original installshield setup file so that it doesn't need extracting which Oracle might not want us to do.
We already know that the /v switch passes parameters to msiexec.exe when used on the setup exe. But what syntax do we need for this complex set of parameters? The Installshield setup executable expects any string containing spaces after the /v switch to wrapped in quotes. So we have the classic quotes within quotes problem.... After some experimentation it turns out that the \ character will escape quotes in this case.
So escaping the extra quotes we have:
OCal_win_10.1.2exe /s /v"/qn INSTALLDIR=\"%programfiles%\Oracle\Calendar\""
No idea whether this will help anyone else, but I had to write it up somewhere!

Oracle 11g R2 Client Silent Installation Issue (PATH) Windows 7 x86
Hi All,
I'm hoping somebody can shed some light on this issue.
I created a Response file using the 'Save Response File' method during an interactive installation on a Windows 7 Enterprise x86 client. (file enclosed)
I have installed it multiple times now with multiple permutations of the command line (got caught out by the old lower case F in responseFile) but now I'm getting the same error each time (a critical error with the PATH according to the installation log). There is nothing wrong with the path length as the installation works fine in GUI mode and passes the Prereq check.
I launch the command line to install (with Run As Administrator) - "[location of setup.exe]\setup.exe" -nowait -silent -responseFile "[location of response file]\Oracle11gv2.rsp"

SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client Silent Installation Failure
Hi all, I'm trying to silently install SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client using command prompt but I'm running into trouble with the IACCEPTSQLNCLILICENSETERMS=YES parameter.
From command prompt, I'm trying to execute the following:
msiexec /i "C:\PathToMSI\sqlncli.msi" /qb IACCEPTSQLNCLILICENSETERMS=YES
Running this command though results in an installation error:
'The required IACCEPTSQLNCLILICENSETERMS=YES command-line parameter is missing. By specifying this parameter, you acknowledge that you accept the end user license terms for the Microsoft
SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client.'
Is this an error with the installation package or am I doing something wrong here?
ThanksHi GB2014,
Based on my analysis, your issue could be due to that the required 'IACCEPTSQLNCLILICENSETERMS=YES' parameter is not passed successfully. I recommend you to follow one of the two methods below to troubleshoot the issue using the tool
ORCA.
1. Edit sqlncli.msi file using ORCA, add the property IACCEPTSQLNCLILICENSETERMS with a value of YES, then save the MSI file and install SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client again.
2. Open sqlncli.msi file in ORCA, scroll down the left row to table "InstallExecuteSequence", find the action (SNAC_IAcceptSQLNCLILicenseTerms), change whatever was in the condition column(a bunch of options, delete them all) to YES. Then saved
the MSI file and install SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client again.

How to install Excell client using Silent Installation
Hi,
We are planning to do the 'client install' using silent installation. I followed the BPC 7.5 installation giude but it just gives the option to do the both ADMIN and EXCEL client installation.
For example:bpcclient75.exe /s /zu201Cc:\test&c:\installshield\xceedzip.dll&FR&ALL"
Can anyone please provide me the code as above for EXCEL only silent installation.
ThanksHello,
Could you give me that solution?
Thank you very much!

Oracle Client 11g Release 2 silent installation.
Hi, I try to make a silent installation of oracle client 11g release 2 for windows 7 enterprise edition.
I'm familiar with the response file, and how to create this in earlyer versions.
But the "-record -destinationFile <filepath>" switch do not work, and when I run "setup -help" the -record switch is gone.
How do you create a response file with 11g release 2?
Best regards
LanstiHey Hans - We shouldn't have to read the manual each time a new installer comes out...why would there be a need to constantly redo how the installers works from a general standpoint (like -record)?? Stupid doesn't even begin to describe it.

Client 11g silent installation guidance
Hello everyone,
I am just starting my journey into the world of Oracle. Typically it has not been a smooth start hence my post here.
I have been asked to arrange a silent install of the 11g Client (v11.1.0.6.21 specifically) onto a Windows XP machine. I diligently did some reading on the net as there is zero documentation or install media here - just the installation files. I managed to create a response file using "setup.exe -record -destinationFile newbie.rsp", modified some minor settings and tried to:
setup.exe -silent -noconfig -nowait -responsefile "c:\newbie.rsp"
Unfortunately I just cannot get the text-based "Oracle Universal Installer" window to hide during the install, regardless of what I put in the response file. So I am not doing very well on the "silent install" front.
Then I found this thread: Oracle Client 11g Release 2 silent installation.
However the installer I have doesn't seem to have the "save the current session as a record file" option.
So, would someone be kind enough to point me in the direction of some up to date doco I can read please? I am keen to learn all about this but I just can't seem to find a place to start.
Any suggestions are greatly received and appreciated.
Best regards,
TroyThanks for the swift response Ansiktet!
+>>There is an default response file provided in the installation directory,+
Great. The only file & folder structure I have starts from:
\install
\access\...
\images\...
\reource\....
access_setup.bat
addLangs.bat
oraparam.ini
oui.exe
unzip.exe
\stage
\Actions\...
\Components\...
\Queries
install1.jar
invDetails.properties
products.xml
shiphomeinfo.properties
shiphomeproperties.xml
setup.exe
I have had a look through and can't find a sample response file. Does this file & folder structure match what you were expecting I should have? And if so, where might I find the sample please?
+>> you can make it easy for you and just edit this one, its quite self-explaining.+
I found a few examples on the net and the "-record" option generated a very nice one for me to start from.
The problem is, regardless of what I put in, the OUI command-line style window always seems to be displayed.
I have put in lines such as:
FROM_LOCATION="\\Software\Apps\Third party\Oracle\Client 11g\stage\products.xml"
ACCEPT_LICENSE_AGREEMENT=true
SHOW_SPLASH_SCREEN=false
SHOW_WELCOME_PAGE=false
SHOW_RELEASE_NOTES=false
SHOW_SUMMARY_PAGE=false
SHOW_CUSTOM_TREE_PAGE=false
SHOW_COMPONENT_LOCATIONS_PAGE=false
SHOW_INSTALL_PROGRESS_PAGE=false
SHOW_REQUIRED_CONFIG_TOOL_PAGE=false
SHOW_CONFIG_TOOL_PAGE=false
+>> Then you run it with the same command you used before.+
The comment in the other thread implied this method has been superceeded. Are you familiar with the newer method and where I might find some doco on it (to educate myself)?
Thanks again,

Silent installation of Oracle 9i client fails
Hi, I need to do a silent installation of th Oracle 9i client on W2K.
Using a Oracle supplied response file works fine. However, when I try to use a response file which was recorded from a previous installation with 'setup -record -destinationFile x.rsp' only a part of the required files are installed.
I need to use a 'recorded' response file since this seems to be the only way to bypass the question for the Oracle MTS (which shows up even in a silent installation).
Are there any know problems with using a 'recorded' response file ? I didn't find any useful hints in the documentation.
Thanks and regards
MichaelHi,
Well, the steps as the same as install Oracle Server Database.
Which tools on the Oracle Client you want to use ?
Maybe Oracle Instant Client is more interesting for you.

Silent Installation on remote client computer?
The SIlent Installation description writes:
It is intended for:
system administrators who want to deploy Java Plug-in and the JRE on multiple PCs in the Intranet environment without user interaction
That sounds exactly what I need. But when I do such a silent installation, there are no options for the remote computer (like 'destination client='). First I just set the network path for the INSTALLDIR and found that just the files were copied to the network computer but the installation was done locally. So, how can I tell the silent installation that I want to install on a remote computer?MDN,

Apply 5699495 w/ Silent installation Oracle 10g client
Good Afternoon,
I have my silent installation of Oracle 10g Administrator Installation working great w/ response file, now I am having an issue with integrating this patch (5699495) into the initial install. I read the README file but it says to just drop the files in the appropriate folder, I want to do it during the install with no user interaction
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!I'd suggest creating a batch file to do the unzip and copy operations.
In the batch file you can call the install first and then do the patch. This way anyone who needs to do the install can just double-click the batch file.
We do a similar thing with an install and then creating a TNS_ADMIN area outside the ORACLE_HOME -

Photoshop Elements 13 Silent Installation
Hi.
I am trying to do a silent installation of Photoshop Elements 13.
We can rollout single installations to specific computers with Enteo DSM (Client Management System).
When i assign an installation to a client, i have the possibility to give the serialnumber with the installationpackage as an variable.
This worked well with PSE10, PSE11 and PSE12.
But with Version 13 the installation routine changed completly. Are there any instructions to do an silent installation with PSE 13 ?
Cheers
TobiShikha,
Silent install worked great but I cant get the adobeID to serialize. I used this for PSE 12 but it's not working on 13.
adobe_prtk --tool=Serialize --leid=V7{}PhotoshopElements-EMT13-Win-GM --serial="xxxx-xx...." --adobeid="[email protected]"
Do I have the right leid? I couldn't find any information on how to get the Adobe ID working. -
