Clients disconnecting randoming..

So as for the network layout we are using two 5508 controllers running 7.1.19 code currently with 3502i and 3602i radios. Until yesterday, I had issues with a wireless vendor that wouldn't stay connected on 7.2 code. That vendor is no longer here since yesterday.
Here is a debug client log. I show the client being connected to an AP and then about 10 dropped pings while the client is off the network and then reassociated back to the same AP. I have a constant ping going at the same time and getting subsecond pings when it disconnects with a RSSI of -60 and SNR of 50+. This is a laptop device sitting on a desk and not moving throught the floors.
At 11:29 pings were going just fine, then at 11:44 the client reassociates and then again at 11:46..

from that debug, the cleint was in a run state, then there was an EAPOL Start message.
As Blake had asked, what type of device is it?  specifically what is the WNIC and driver versions?
Wireless drivers do not get updated with the standard windows update.

A failure of the Michael MIC in a packet usually indicates an active attack on your network
or RF problems.
For the moment I set countermeasure tkip hold-time 0 , based on some recomendations in this forum.
any others recommendations I will apreciate.

• WAP371 client disconnects

I have a similar issue as others have had with the WAP371 and clients disconnecting randomly. most of the discussion didn't have any real content, just said to open a case, which I have not done yet as im still researching this but I wanted to see if anyone has advice on my issue. I have both the 2.4 and 5ghz radios on, connection is good and all works fine. after 1 or 2 days, they just stop passing data. my clients show a connection but I cant do anything with it. I CAN access the AP from them but I have to reboot the AP in order to get network access back. It isn't like clockwork, but it does happen at least every 2 days or so. a reboot fixes it. sometimes, say 1 in 4, I lose complete connection to the ap and it will not rejoin. it DOES show up in the connection list, the ssid that is. the event logs are of little help, not indicating anything wrong. I thought originally channel interference, but ive ruled that out since. also worth noting, this replaced an apple airport extreme ap with the same basic settings. that ap worked fine for close to a year. same client connections, cabling, etc. it has to be something on the ap. tried an older 1.0 and newer 1.1 code. same results. any ideas? thanks!

im using WPA2 AES encryption. there are quite a few BSSIDs in my area, my ap sees around 10, but ive scanned and seen way more. the signal strength is pretty low on them and there are only 2 on my 2.4 channel and they are medium in strength and there are 0 on the 5ghz channel. I do not have band steer on, I believe I had 50ms for beacon interval but I uped it to 1sec. (didn't see broadcast refresh rate). its also worth noting I have a netatmo weather sensor that constantly connects and disconnects (to save power im guessing) below is a quick snippet from the log:

• M451dn disconnects randomly

Greetings!
I have two printers over here, both M451dn's. One of the M451's will disconnect randomly from the computer. It does not disconnect completely, leaving the M451dn's printer object faded. Instead it creates a new "unknown device" and refuses to function after that. Every time it does this, it displays "HP Web Services" from its menu automatically. The solution (albeit temporary) is to restart the computer or printer, or replug-in the USB cable from either the printer or computer. After that the printer starts printing from the queue in Windows, and functions normally. It only takes a few hours of use for the printer to go back to its old behavior.
I have swapped power and usb cables. Reinstalled the driver, and even plugged the printer directly in to the wall instead of a power strip. Obviously,  I could test to see if it is the printer by swapping it for the other functioning printer. But, I wanted to post and see what HP's forum thought first.
Thanks for your help!

These bugs should be related to both 5508 and 4400, pls. see Cisco's software advisory:
http://www.cisco.com/web/software/Wireless/Deferral/Software_Advisory_6_0_196_0.html
You can try both versions to see if the bugs be fixed. If your problem still not fix after upgrade, you have to open debug(debug client xxx) in WLC, use some wireless analyzing tools to capture the packets and check what happened during the disconnection(always remember to use NTP to sync all the related equipments' time). And of course, call Cisco TAC.
Before that, you definately should do some site survey to see if there's any coverage hole, also do some testing especially with simple environment as suggested by George. For example, firstly choose open, no ecryption for the WLAN, no session time out, no aironet extention, no dhcp(using static IP), enable low data rate such 1M/2M, etc. then test it, if problem disappear, then add more parameters towards your final enviroment to see which parameter cause the disconnection. If problem still exist, you need to check Intermec wlan driver, call TAC.

We use like 30 handhelds. 7-8 of them disconnects randomly. The handhelds are reconnecting after 15 minutes which is along time for us. I have looked at the handheld logs it retransmits the key and gets timeout. I have tested the field with 3 handhelds while roaming. None of them disconnected but sometimes handhelds disconnects. Maybe this happens on same handhelds. I will look for it.
I have searched the forum but couldn't find any solution. I use agressive load balancing. WPA/WPA PSK for authentication.
Software Version                 6.0.196.0
Any trick on handhelds or on WLC side that can be done?
I found this article = http://intermec.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9432
Will try to set these setting on the handhelds. Maybe some of you experience the problem.

• Wireless Client Disconnects

Greetings,
I have (two) of the latest Intel 802.11n/ac PCI desktop client adapters each connected to a set of external dual antennas.  Both are running Win 8.1, basically they are identical and both are less than 20ft from the ceiling mounted AP.  One client seems to work fine but the other will disconnect at random times at least once a day.  Once that client is disconnected it can’t see any of our SSIDs for 5 to 20 mins. But it can see other Wi Fi signals / hotspots, etc.
Average RSSI is -61, SNR is 31
We've been running the following stable configuration for the past number of months:
- One 5508WLC - 7.5.102.0
- APs-3602I all running 802.11n (not .ac) in FlexConnect local switching mode
- Prime Infrastructure 1.3
- ISE 1.1.3
We've reinstalled Windows and updated the adapter drivers...no change.  It seems obvious to me that it's a client issue but how can I log and prove it?
ISE doesn't show any authentications problems.  I've read through other "client disconnect" posts here and made the few WLC setting changes recommended.  I’ve turned on debugging on the WLC for the MAC of that client. The WLC msglog never logs anything against the client MAC.  What other AP or WLC logs or debugging can I look at?
Thanks
Michael

Create an OPEN SSID and get the client to join.
Provide additional details:
1.  debug client ;
2.  sh client detail ;
3.  What is the make and model of the wireless NIC of the client?  What is the firmware version number?

• Client disconnection notification for NIO server

A server accepts connections from clients and registers accepted channels for reading:
while (true)
        if (selector.select()>0)
            Iterator<SelectionKey> iterator = selector.selectedKeys().iterator();
            while(iterator.hasNext())
                SelectionKey opKey = iterator.next();
                iterator.remove();
                if (opKey.isAcceptable())
                    clientSocketChannel = serverSocketChannel.accept();
                    clientSocketChannel.configureBlocking(false);
                    clientSocketChannel.register(selector, SelectionKey.OP_READ);
. . .One of the server's clients disconnects from it by means of socketChannel.close() while the servert is locked with selector.select() (that is the server have nothing to read from its clients and nobody is connecting to it).Will the server be unlocked when the client performs socketChannel.close()? If so, what notification/exception will the server receive?

One of the server's clients disconnects from it by means of socketChannel.close() while the servert is locked with selector.select()The select() will immediately return; the corresponding channel will be readable; and the read() will return -1.

So it's like I want to continue watching a movie from external drive and then player crashes because my hard disk partitions got unmounted...
I'm wondering if it can happen because disk is underpowered (it's connected only to one USB port because I lost my original USB cable which had two USB plugs). Anyway it would be strange as problem occurs also when disk is 'idle' so then the power consumption is also lower I assume. I can only say this disk was working just fine when used as internal drive. Any ideas?

Your recommendation to check cable was just - a good recommendation I played a little bit with the B connector and disk immediately stopped working. OMG it was so simple ;p Thanks. I have to buy a new cable (I hope the case is all right).
EDIT:
Confirmed with portable mp3 player. Cable (B connector) is damaged.
I just won't delete this thread as it's a perfect example to show that basic stuff and simplest things should be always checked first !

• My Airport disconnects randomly when USB disk is attached..HELP NEEDED !!!!

My Airport Extreme disconnects randomly when USB disk is attached, I have searched this forum but found now obvious solution.
The Airport Extreme has the latest firmware.
Since the airdisk solution is quite useless at this time, I would kindly accept any kind of help .....thanks
Sieber

Len61 got my reply, I have copied below.
Hi - I have been on the phone with support 4X since late December - all good calls. They have been scratching their heads on this issue.
I have 2 printers and 2 drives on the airport -recent experieinces = printers have always behaved, drives have appeared / vanished / "drive needs repair" and it's just fine...
Cutting out the interim fixes, here are the simple but important solutions and everything has been stable for days now.
* rolled back to AEBS firmware 7.1.1
* replaced the passive USB hub with a powered hub ** This is when joy arrived
* make sure your drive has a block size of 512
You can run guest mode however you want, since adding the new hub, it hasn't mattered.
I haven't been brave enough to upgrade firmware to 7.2.1
cheers

• IDEAPAD V460 - USB port disconnects randomly

Hi Community,
I am in a trouble with my IDEAPAD V460, 59 - 044185 (4th one from the beginning) which I purchased around a couple of years back. It was working fine without this annoying issue until recently. This partiular model comes with three USB ports, two on the left side, one on the right side.Since around last 15-20 days, any device plugged into any one of the two USB ports on the left hand side of the laptop is getting disconnected randomly. I use an iBall 4*1 USB hub to connect one keybaord, one mouse and one modem to any one of the USB ports on the left side. Initially I thought it to be a software issue. But reinstalling the OS or even switching over to other OS did not solve the issue. To probe more, I refrained from using the hub and connected two of the mentioned devices directly to the left side ports. Still, the problem persists, but the frequency of disconnection is less. Sometimes, the devices gets reconnected, sometimes do not. That is also in a random fashion.
One of my friend having a Y500 model also having similar issue. As you can understand, given the number of USB devices we use everyday, it's hampering my day-to-day activity.
Two years being passed, I am out of warranty. I found that there are so many people around here also having same or similar issues. Presently, my perception is that those to USB are not being able to pull out enough power to maintain +5V and causing this random disconnect. Any idea what to do?

Hi

• Mobile based clients disconnecting frequently

Hi folks,
I have an 1142 running 15.2.2JB.  I noticed numerous messages of clients disconnecting with the following message:
%DOT11-6-DISASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, Deauthenticating Station 847a.885b.622c Reason: Previous authentication no longer valid
The MAC addresses involved are all associated to various mobile devices...iPad, iPhone, Windows 8 Mobile and Android (MAC above is an Android phone).  This doesn't appear to impact PC's and laptops (both Windows an Apple).
The devices reconnect immediately and this doesn't appear to cause any problems with anything other than Android devices which register the disconnect immediately and therefore bin anything they're currently doing (for some reason the Windows 8 Mobile and Apple devices seem to be able to cope with the disconnect and reconnect and don't ditch anything network connections)

Does anyone have any ideas why I'm seeing the message "Could not find station pointer" or any other idea's why this is happening?  A search of the web throws up many threads exhibiting the same symptoms but none seem to have a fix and the fixes there are (disable aironet extensions, extend the WPA handshake and disable guest mode) haven't worked so far.
Many thanks,

from that debug, the cleint was in a run state, then there was an EAPOL Start message.
As Blake had asked, what type of device is it?  specifically what is the WNIC and driver versions?
Wireless drivers do not get updated with the standard windows update.

Hi,
An exception occurred. Exception:Invalid length for a Base-64 char array or string.
According to the error messages, it seems that the viewstate has become "large". You can try fixing by chunking the viewstate into multiple fields using maxPageStateFieldLength in the web.config:
<pages enableSessionState="true" enableViewState="true" enableViewStateMac="true" validateRequest

• FireWire400 Drive disconnects randomly - Acomdata 250GB External - Help?

I bought a Acomdata 250GB External hard drive with FireWire400. It has worked beautifully for me for the past week or so. I used it with Time Machine and I also backed up files (movies, music, etc.) onto it which worked pretty well. I never formatted it or anything, just plugged it in and it started working. I use it in Windows sometimes using MacDrive - software which lets you access Mac formatted drives. I do this to transfer my Music to my Windows XP partition (Boot Camp) and things like that. Just recenetly (past 2 days or so) it disconnects randomly even when a file transfer is in progress. If I unplug and replug it, it sometimes fixes it. But other times I need to flip the power switch on/off for it to start up again. I feel like cutting the power like that must be bad for the drive. In my 2 weeks of ownership I never turned it off until I started having the issues, I just would let it spin down when I turn off the computer. I thought it got too hot so I let it sit for a while but I still have issues. I've heard you should totally unhook everthing (Firewire cable, power cable, then take everything out of your laptop (ethernet, Firewire, battery, etc.) and let them sit for like 30 minutes to get all power cycled and stuff. I'll try that now but can anyone throw me a bone? Please?

By the way, now I can't even get Mac to see it. I've turned it on/off, unplugged/replugged, what the crap.
