Cloning someone

New to the board--
What is the best way to duplicate someone in a single shot using Final Cut Pro HD? I am talking about like in films such as "Secret Window" where Johnny Depp encounters himself several times and talks to himself as well.
I appreciate any help provided,
Paul

A really good and easy way to do this is (yes, locked down camera... moving the camera is another tutorial!!):
Lock the camera down and light the scene. Light it WITH the talent in.
Turn on the camera and set it. TURN ALL AUTO SETTINGS OFF leave it all manual. Put sandbags on the tripod if you have to also.
Take a few seconds or more of the scene without any talent.
Add the talent to the scene for the first person.
Add the talent to the scene fo rthe second person.
REMEMBER - Don't turn off the camera or change ANYTHING!
Now work the three layers together in FCP. Crop where you need to and keep the "plate" on the bottom layer just incase.
If you get to a spot where you need them to cross paths then you'll need to use a difference matte to key out the people and have them move in layers.
Very easy to do. You'll find a great difference matte in After Effects.

    Dear All,
I need to Clone our Production EBS Environment from RAC to RAC with Shared APPL_TOP and Multi Tier Appl Tiers.
We have EBS 12.1.3 Environment with 2 Appl Tier Nodes with Shared Appl_Top & EBS DB is on 11gR2 RAC 11..2.0.4.
    I am following Doc IDs 406982.1 & 559518.1.
But its not clear which directories need to be copy and restore for Shared Appl top on each Node.
Also what Steps will need to be executed on Each Nodes and
What Steps need to be executed only on one Node.
    Appreciate your feedback.
    P.S.
Kindly share if anyone have Step by Step Doc for RAC to RAC EBS Cloning.

  • Need guidance in cloning my newly installed EBS 12.1.3 to a physical machine

    Hello Guys,
We have just migrated EBS 11i to 12.1.3 with rdbms 11.2.3 on the same server. Our Test instance is on a physical machine and DEV is on a Virtual Machine. We need to refresh or Clone the Test and Dev systems with or from Prod. Which is the best approach for me to follow in cloning Prod? I am looking at Doc ID 406982.1 but it's not very clear to me. Has someone get a step by step documentation for such cloning?
    Thanks
    Mathias

    Mathias,
The document you have is all what you need.
You may also refer to (Troubleshooting RapidClone issues with Oracle Applications R12 (Doc ID 603104.1)).
And, if you Google "Rapid Clone" R12 you will find many hits.
    Thanks,

  • My entire phone got hacked and now I believe there is a cloned phone number who is texting my contacts....very bad things and I don't know what to do....get a new phone?  New number?

Within the last few months I have gotten several snap shots of conversations from friends that showed it was my phone number but the conversation was not from me.  It was someone using my information but texting frieda, family, and some co workers very obscene things.  But the person was using completely juvenile context and I don't do that at all with my texts.  The worst part was it began becoming such a huge issue when the cloned number or whatever was texting guys stuff and I wasn't the actual person texting.  I got no responses to my phone but I had some very confused friends and even at one point my boyfriend got texts from my number when I was literally sitting next to him and my phone was on the coffee table.  Anyone have any ideas on what I need to do.  I have reset my phone, deleted everything off of it, reset passwords, I don't use location services but I am still having people getting crude messages.  It's to the point now that my very own friends don't talk to me through text or my personal email because they don't know if it is truly me.  Please help!

Your phone is not hacked however your sim card probably IS cloned.
YOU need to contact your Mobile Network and local police right NOW !

It sounds like you are talking about the cloning tool?
    Tool looks like this:
Then when selected you can change the size of the brush and using Alt (windows) and Command (Mac) to select your region you want to copy then start to create you cloned image.
    Hope this helps?

  • HELP!! Can no longer log in to my Cloned HD.

I can't log in on my external cloned HD. When booting up, it asks for user and password - but doesn't accept any of the ones I know - not even a root password I managed to recall from five years ago.
I think my accounts are still there - at any rate, I can see various of my folders in their complete hierarchies within the "Users" folder on the drive.
I tried resetting the original administrator account password (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274?viewlocale=en_US , bottom of page). The Password Reset utility on my Tiger Install CD reveals the drive, but the "select a user of this volume" drop down menu is grayed out and reads "No Users."
How can I get back my accounts and log in?
Here's some background which might help explain how I got into this mess.
For a couple of years, I cloned my 160G hard drive to a 1T external using SuperDuper's "Copy Newer" facility. This effectively gave me a backup of all my files to a drive from which I could also boot in an emergency. I tested once or twice. It worked a treat, starting up and logging in as if it were my internal drive (but larger, and containing all those past files I'd deleted to conserve space).
Last summer, I was lured by Apple to upgrade to their new Snow Leopard system at a very reasonable price.
Almost instantly, my computer slowed down (especially Safari browsing) and I lost a number of dated applications (particularly Adobe apps from pre 2004 such as Photoshop).
I thought: never mind - I still have a cloned boot drive should I want to use my older applications. So I stopped the SuperDuper backups in order to preserve my Tiger system with its setup and log-ins - effectively, a bootable replica of my pre-September hard drive.
Snow Leopard gave me Time Machine, anyway. It requires a separate drive for backups - and there was still plenty of room on this 1T external…. So for the last six months or so, Time Machine has been squirrelling away copies of all my files into its own folder on that same Tiger hard drive.
I'm now upgrading my internal HD to a new SATA drive with triple the space.
In preparation, I've used SuperDuper to clone my HD.
Since I still didn't want to overwrite my Tiger system, I copied everything to a disk image (called "Eric's backup.sparsebundle") on that same large external drive.
I was going to install the empty new drive, boot from my Tiger drive and restore the Leopard clone (from the disk image "Eric's backup"), to the new internal drive.
    So there it is.
I now suppose my problem may be that, effectively, this unpartitioned external drive actually contains three systems (albeit two of them backed up in a self-contained way). But I assumed that only the September clone (of my Tiger system) would be visible when it came to boot up.
It looks as though I assumed wrong. It seems my computer can longer see my log-in files.
I don't understand the Unix operating system - but, from reading these topics, it seems to me hopeful that I might be able to use terminal commands to restore passwords and user settings to some file within some hidden folder so that I might again reboot from my Tiger clone and log in.
Grateful for all advice anyone can give me.
(Incidentally, I have already tried deleting the /var/db/.AppleSetupDone file as per http://theappleblog.com/2008/06/22/reset-os-x-password-without-an-os-x-cd/ . Frustratingly, the setup process got as far as "Select keyboard: UK; USA" and, on continuing, hung with a spinning colour wheel each time. After forty minutes of nada, I restarted in terminal and put back the SetUpDone file)

Thanks BD, I'll look into that.
Whilst in terminal I followed someone's instructions to "fsck -fy".
I don't know what the words mean, but it appeared to run a full check on the disk. No problems found. Is that as good as running Disk Utility?
As I say, it seems to me possible (complete guesswork here as I know nothing about Apple's internal workings) that - whilst Time Machine was storing my files in a dedicated folder on my drive* - it was also making its own SnowLeopard changes to files within the invisible "var" folder on that drive (or some such other system folder); and that those changes have prevented Tiger from recognising my users and passwords. If were the case, then perhaps there is something straightforward I can do to point Tiger back towards my users - with or without passwords.
I've also just spotted this: http://www.macobserver.com/tip/2003/06/16.1.shtml
Anyone know if I'm likely to do more harm than good with it?
I won't have time to do either today - but very grateful for any further suggestions.

  • My new HD with a cloned system and apps won't boot the G5 when installed. The clone drive is being journal formatted via usb with OS9 checked in disk utility. First time around, I didn't check OS9, and the G5 didn't boot from the clone drive. Advice?

My system is a G5 PPC with 2x 2Gig 64bit processors (dual core). 6 gig of ram on board, running OSX 10.4.11. I recently discovered the main drive was actually a laptop drive someone had stuffed in there! (The machine was given to me - yes, really). So I bought a nice new WD Caviar Black 500Gig HD. Hooked it up via usb adapter (G5 won't see it internally). Disk Utility saw it, formatted it with Journal option selected, but not OS9 install.
After that, I cloned the data on the slow laptop drive complete with all the applications onto the Caviar HD.Sure enough, the G5 can see the Caviar HD with everything on it.
However, when putting the Caviar HD in where the laptop drive once was, the G5 would not see the disk at all.
So now, I'm reformatting the drive again but this time with OS9 checkbox ticked in Disk Utility. After this, I will install it into the machine alongside the offensively sluggish laptop drive, and as long as the G5 sees the Caviar HD internally, I will clone from there, rather than via USB hookup.
I hope this way the system will speed up! There's no way the machine is running as it can do with a pokey little laptop drive in it spinning at 5k surely!
I am assuming the Tiger 10.4.11 is genuine (I think it is - the X symbol is present on the folder), but I don't have the original disk...
Any suggestions? Has anyone had this experience?

Hi BDAqua... downstairs away from unit at the moment. It's a Western Digital Caviar Black 500Gig, twin processors, SATA3 / 6, 64Meg cache on-board... nice. Very quite with minimal vibration (slight).
However as I'm here I can announce I've solved the problem! The G5 had an original Seagate Barracuda HDD on board as a slave drive. I backed up the dat off that onto the Caviar Black via USB adapter. Then Disk Utility wiped the Barracuda safely.
Then, I installed SuperDuper! to clone the data from the sluggish laptop master drive onto the Barracuda; I also told SuperDuper! to boot the G5 from the newly image Barracuda.
After it had done the job I switched off the machine (it may well have rebooted - I was downstairs watching England fail at Eurovision Song Contest), took out the laptop drive and started up the G5.
Mercifully, it rebooted fine! All details and programs are intact and functioning right down to my screensaver.
I can report that the machine is noticably (considerably in the case of Logic8 and JamPack) faster and swifter at sourcing data.
Everything is backed up and I now have a speedier G5! Hurrah!!
I now have a spare 80Gig drive to hand in a caddy (originally a spare backup) that was made about the same time as the G5. It's my guess that it would fit the G5 internally and probably be seen ok by the system.
It's worth a try. The Caviar Black will have to go into a caddy and become my backup disk. It has a clone of the OS and all apps, so if something goes badly wrong, I'm safe.
Just a thought: The more advanced Leopard and Snow Leopard OS may struggle in G5's because the OS itself may require faster HDD's that cannot go into the G5 normally? I see many reports of Snow Leopard running like a bag of bones in people's G5's. Perhaps it's something to do with data retrieval speeds?
    I'm sticking with Tiger!
I hope this story has assisted someone somewhere... and many thanks to all you kind people who offer to help.

  • Reinstalling Leopard Using Erase and Install with a Cloned HD Backup

Hello. I realize there are dozens of posts related to my situation. And that is part of my problem. There seems to be so much disparate information, I can't figure out how to pull all the threads of info together.
Even if this is rehashing some old info, perhaps it's appearance in "more recent posts" will serve someone other than just me.
When I upgraded to Leopard about three months ago, I chickened out big-time at the very last second and installed the upgrade on top of Tiger. Apparently not a good idea as I'd been running Tiger on a first generation iMac Intel for about two years. (I know, I know ... I feel cowardly.) Now I have a situation where I can reboot, but very, very slowly ... it's beach ball time a great deal of the time ... and I cannot boot from the install disk to access Disk Utility for an apparently needed disk repair of some unspecified corruption. I've repaired permissions as far as I can tell, nothing else seems to work.
    So ...
I've cloned my hard drive using Carbon Copy Cloner ... and I'm simply considering a "clean install" of Leopard, making sure to do all OS updates before attempting to migrate anything back in or install third party apps. (I've got all of the latest versions of third party apps archived and waiting on my back-up drive.)
Is there a reliable list of what folders I can (and should) move from the back-up drive to the freshly installed OS ... to regain Apple Mail accounts and mailboxes, Airport info, iTunes, etc. Will Migration Assistant do most of this or is it a combination of that and judicious "manual" labor.
Also, unless there is some physical damage to the main hard drive, will a fresh reinstall likely take care of disk error issues ... in other words, is it likely to be that type of problem?
Please excuse the newbie-ness of all this and thanks for any help you can provide.

I am confused by how you can do a fresh install of Leopard if you cannot boot from your install disk.
In reviewing my old questions, I realized I do have an answer for this (thanks to Apple Tech Support). Because I installed Leopard over Tiger (as described in my original post), somehow the Leopard Install Disk would simply not work ... because what was still left over from Tiger was only able to recognize the Tiger Install Disk. When I dug that out and attempted it from there, it worked. So if someone else has trodden the ill-advised path I did and has the same frustration ... if you've got a Tiger/Leopard Frankenstein on the loose, perhaps trying a Tiger Install disk will help. The end of the story ... I wiped my hard drive, did a clean Leopard install and, for the most part, all is well. After installing Memory Stick to determine RAM usage, I've come to the conclusion that my routine beach balls are probably more the result of needing more than 1G of memory these days. So it's off to the Memory Store!

The steps should be the same for Windows (with minor changes, like you may need to create Oracle service before duplicating the database).

  • System requirements for BO Enterprise XI 3.0 with 3 cloned webi services

    Helllo,
I'm wondering what the system requirements would be for a server to host a BO Enterprise system (XI 3.0) if it is connected to a SAP BW system.
The system should be able to cope with around 150 to 200 calls/requests maximum at a time.
The users log in into SAP and launches a request via an SAP screen with behind that an URL request that is constructed based on a guest account (max 200 requests at the time) for BO. Because it is always the same account (Guest) that is used over and over again I'm wondering what kind of additional requirements the system should support.
We did some stresstesting with 120 simultaneous users. Even with 3 cloned web intelligence processing servers it blocked several times.
For the moment it is running on following hardware specifications:
HRBOXI (Dell PowerEdge 2950 (Servicetag: GMZ834J))
Memory: 8 memory slots available on motherboard of which 2 are used (each is  2GB) Total available memory at this moment is 4GB.
CPU: 2 x Intel Xeon E5420 (quad core). There are 2 CPU sockets on the motherboard that are in use.
    Disks:  2 x 146GB (15K) SAS
On that there is a 32bit operating system in use. We would like to start with upgrading that to 64 bit OS.
Can someone tell me if this machine is suitable for production purposes for BO Enterprise linked to an SAP BW on mainly HR-data? I mean by that does this machine has enough processors to be able to cope with 3 cloned webintelligence services at a time. And also enough RAM memory?
    Many thanks Thierry Renaer

  • Photograph - Photoshop CS5 Cloning

I have been using the new CS5 photoshop for about 6 months. I have a grasp on the basics of cloning/healing inc the new content aware fill (which is great). I can get good results on simple cloning but on complex stuff I really struggle.
I could do with some assistance if someone could spare the time.
I have an image with of a pair of sunglasses. Arguably I should have setup the shoot better to remove the stuff in the right hand lens. But I didnt. I would like to know some tips on making a realistic touch up of the lens. I have tried several things from spot cloning to patch heal. Even trying to make a new lense with grad colours. The end result is always the same. Too soft, blurred and artificial looking result.
Here is the Hi-Res original with the reflection I wish to remove:
    http://www.lakelanddigitalmedia.com/stock/stock_23042011_006-Edit.jpg
I'd really appreciate some advice on the topic.
    many thanks in advance.

    Image:

You mean if you didn't want the magenta part in there at all?  About the same thing...  Paint it gently, smoothly, with the colors in the surrounding area.  That may be a bit more challenging to make look natural, but it can be done I imagine.
But frankly that magenta section of color looks kind of neat in there.  Very eye-catching.  You might want to think twice before you try to make the reflection look too blank.
If the magenta color is the problem itself, you could try using a brush set to Color mode, with which you could change the color but leave the luminance of the reflection in place.
Another completely different option is to replace the entire content of the lens with a photograph that's been spherically distorted.  Usually an image taken through a wide angle (e.g., fisheye) lens would be good to start with, since these lenses are convex.  Where do you want the prospective buyer to imagine he/she is?  On the beach?  In the mountains?

  • Legality of cloning hard drive

Hi, just a quick need to confirm that the process of cloning one's entire hard drive, incuding the OS, is entirely legal. (My apologies if this question has been answered before: a quick search around yeilded nothing clear, and I am with a friend who needs to know.)
The OS in question is Windows XP, though I'm also interested in OSX's legal stance on this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rhys

    Chris,
Thanks a lot for the link. The title of that page from Microsoft looked promising, but I think it addresses the deployment of Windows installations onto multiple computers. I looked around their site--maybe I'm just a bit dull, but I'm finding it hard to find a clear answer to this seemingly simple question. Is it legal to back up your data by cloning your hard drive onto an external drive (which is bootable in case the internal drive fails) which of course entails making a copy of the OS?
Don't mean to be lazy: I'll keep looking when I have time later--I thought someone here must know and could easily confirm this.
    Thanks for your help, again.
    Rhys

  • Can someone take a look at my error log please

    MAC Mini 10.8.5
    Hi
My Mac's been behaving weird. I ran Avast as well as a full Avira scan to make sure it is not a Trojan or some malware. However, still the MAC freezes up and my email's just been hacked. Just now my MAC did a weird thing: I was just writing an email - the only thing that was running was one Google Chrome window- and my MAC just suddenly shut down on me. When it cam back after the auto restart I had an Avast error screen showing that there was an 'internal error'. Couldn't find out what that error was though. Thanks in advance.

I remember several occasions where files where downloaded onto my MAC without even allowing or initiating/ asking for the download. You just open a page and the next thing you know you see that something is being downloaded. Although I immediately trashed the downloaded file weird stuff keeps happening.
Recently my emails got hacked, twice, even after changing password..and worst of all, in the last few short weeks my bank has cancelled my card 3 times and sent me a new one, because it had been cloned- every time I have anew card it gets cloned. I do not use it anywhere but my own bank's ATM...and this MAC.
It's almost as if someone has installed something on my MAC that cannot be detected and that can see everything I do. Sounds a bit paranoid- but I really can't understand how the card fraud and email hacks keep happening!
In any case, I have run Etrecheck and here are the results:

  • Cloning drive to external & partitioning using Disk Utility.....!

    Hi,
I wonder if someone is able to answer my questions and offer some advice and help.....?
I am purchasing a new external drive and would like to know how to clone the internal drive of my Power Mac G4 using disk Utility to the external drive, so that it is also bootable.  I have seen that there seems to be more then one way of doing this within disk utility, but would like to know which is the best way?
    1. Please could you take me thorough the steps as I have never done this before?
    2. Would it be wise to partition the external drive to keep the cloned bootable system seperate from the rest of the content that will be placed on the external drive or not?   If so again please could you take me through the steps on how to do this (partition external drive)?
    3.  Prior to partitioning the drive is it necessary to delete the new external drive even though there is nothing on it?  As I read someone that this need to be done, but didn't quite get that!
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
Hopefully it'll be an External Firewire drive, as USB cannit be booted from on PPC Macs.
I wouldn't use Disk Utility, there are easier ones for free.
I strongly recommend that you get a good Firewire drive to Clone your Internal drive to...
    http://eshop.macsales.com/search/firewire+drives
Many of those come with Backup SW, or...
Get carbon copy cloner to make an exact copy of your old HD to the New one...
    http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html
    Or SuperDuper...

    2. It depends how big the new drive is & how much space is used on the current drive.
OSX loves lots of free space on it's boot drive for VM & other temp files, I don't feel 50% is too much free space to leave.
    3. Normally isn't needed to Zero the Drive, but you may have to foprmat it...
