Cloning the webintelligence reporting server for stress testing
Hello,
We are currently running a BO XI 3.0 system (Edge version) and using 3 clones of the webintelligence server in the CMC. When doing stresstesting (with more or less 300 sessions open all at once), we receive a message that one of the cloned web intelligence servers (services) is down: this is the message: The web intelligence server can not be reached, please take contact with the BO administrator (Error: RWI 00236) Error: INF). We presume that one of the cloned web intelligence servers is going down but we wonder if we can just clone the same server several times more or if we need to adapt the configuration parameters of each cloned service. How can we audit where the reason lies for this server to stop working or to crash?
Can someone help us out?

If you saved your targets.xml before you started you might save it by renaming it back.
(Double check to make sure you did not miss a rename)
Otherwise, all I have to offer is my rough notes:
1. Backup the file $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml.
[oracle@ias02 emd]$ pwd
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/sysman/emd
cp targets.xml targets.xmlbackup
2. Modify the file targets.xml by changing all the occurrences of the wrong reports server name by the correct one.
i.e. Replace rep_test_midtier with rep_new (4 places - changes)
Copy the conf file as follows: ( this will named different from system to system )
cp /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_pia_oracleas.conf /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_fam.conf
run this script:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/addNewServerTarget.sh rep_fam (change rep_fam to new report server name)
3.Update the changed configuration .
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct opmn -v -d
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl resyncinstance -v -d
4. Restart the Application Server Control Console
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl stop iasconsole
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl start iasconsole
In the file:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/config/reportsConfig.properties
Change the Reports_Server_Name setting from rep_test_midtier to rep_fam (change rep_fam to new report server name)

You are using <strong>Crystal Report Server</strong> and the <strong>Crystal Report Web Services</strong> that come with Visual Studio.</p><p>I know that this might seem like they are the same product, and the naming does seem confusing but I'll try and make it easy for you to understand.</p><p><strong>Crystal Reports Server</strong> - This is a managed reporting solution which allows you to distribute your reports via the web. It has features like scheduling and built in security.</p><p>It appears that you have a handle on what Crytal Report Server is from what you have been able to accomplish those far. You have created your report and published it to Crystal Report Server and viewed it via the Central Management Console. Crystal Reports Server has two methods for accessing the reports programatically.</p><p>1. The Enterprise SDK</p><p>2. and tested that service come with success
and then copied that tnsname to 806 net80 folder
but in no vain any helpI believe you'll need to edit your tnsnames.ora file located in \ORACLE\806\NET80\ADMIN. The last line of this file should read something like
Rep60_SYSNAME, Rep60_SYSNAME.world = (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp) (HOST=SYSNAME) (PORT=1949))
where SYSNAME is the name of the PC Reports is installed on.
I had this same error, and once I modified this file, everything seemd to work fine.

Running a report into the 9i Report Server
We were using the 6i Reports Server.
We now are trying to use the 9i version.
Also from Windows, we decided to use Linux ES 3.0..
in the windows version of the Reports Server there was
an exe file RWCLI60.EXE, which we called with a parameter
file, and it produced our report on the browser, in
an HTML format or PDF.
How can we present a report on the Web with the 9i
Report Server ? Does 6i and 9i use the same process
on the Report showing ?
What is the $ORACLE_HOME/lib/librw90.so ?
is it the "executable" in Linux that does this ?
Or the process is completely different?
Excuse my long question, its just that im new in the
9i, and have many worries if its compatible with
our old report-showing mechanism..

my problem here is as soon as i open CR Designer , and if i click on either New Report,Blank Report, or standard report wizard it is saying "failed to create database connection"
on which ever thing i click it is telling the same "failed to create database connection" i created the user DSN properly , i could not create System DSN i dont know why.

and one more thing on the machine where CR server is installed , on the same machine designer is also installed (i think u was telling the same) . my question is how the server will know about the CR Designer installed in my machine.

Canceling Financial Reports Crashses The Financial Reports Server
Hello Gurus -
We have a couple of financial reports(11x version) for one of the ASO cube (11x essbase version).
We are noticing that when the users run the reports and then hit "Cancel" button it actually ends up in crashing the Financial Reports Server. So, far we have asked teh users to not to cancel the reports. But we were wondering if anyone else is facing similar issue and possibly have a workaround or a solution?
Appreciate any suggestions/help.
RegardsOuch, drilling to level 0 from where the user chooses, is a hard task.
It may be time to review the user requirements and the determine if another method might be more useful - either different reports or reports with expansion allowed.
For example if they are reviewing all of their cost centers to see which ones are above/below target - maybe think about reports which show the highest above/below, or even think about using Web Analysis to present a drill-able dashboard for users.
If they are keen on having the same report, you could look at changes to the store/dynamic calc/aggregations. Although to do it based on one report requirement could cause issues elsewhere. -

I am using Bootcamp.Back up your system drive completely. If you have no backup plan in place, now would be a good time to start. You can use CarbonCopyCloner to make a complete, bootable backup of your system on another drive or volume. After you have done this: download the combo update using the link supplied by Niel and run the installer.

I ended up in this thread in search of a functional Exchange ready mail client capable of supporting multiple mail profiles. Since there are no free applications to accomplish this in the app stor, which I can find, I figured I'd leverage the 'community' for some direction before throwing good money after bad.
As I assume Im not the only one to do this, I figured I'd help straighten these folks out on the lingo (as they werne't applying it properly) and the sassy 'sound like apple users' comment references the way ANTI-apple folks assume you people are less than adequite users.
If I called an apple an orange, you would say I was wrong. If I did it repeatedly, after correction, you would assume Im incompetant.
Seriously, its a stupid machine and will only do what you tell it. (true for all computers, apple or otherwise)
So if I ask for a mail client, dont give me a provider. If I ask for a service, dont name a client.

Since you interceded though, how about a little help? What mail client do you use? Is it exchange Compatible, with active sync? Does it offer multi-profile support? And the clients want images in their signatures, and multi signature support. (I can do this with my android phone )

I want to build parametric and rather complex reports but I don't know which tool offers more features, flexibility, ease of use , ... . I've built some simple parametric reports using JasperReports and JDeveloper 10g but I think it's not so productive and may need something more, maybe iReport. Does anyone have any ideas?

Is there any way to sync created mailboxes [not inboxes] from my iMac to my MBP?
I've created storage mailboxes for each client in Mail [Mavericks] on my main machine [iMac]. But I also check email on my MacBook Pro when I'm onsite or out of town. Is there anyway to sync the created mailboxes? Obviously, the inboxes are all synci
