Close a task

Hi,
I want to develop a task (webdynpro) with a simple button to close the task (not to complete the task).
How can I do it?

The exit plug is a default outbound plug.
In the method called when your button is clicked you need to call the Window Controller and call the exit plug.
Assuming that your window is called MyWindow, the code could look like this:
wdThis.wdGetMyWindowController().wdFirePlugExit(true);
Please keep in mind that this simply closes the WD UI. Any inputs made to the WD are not stored as intermediate inputs!

  • Would you Open and Close DAQmx tasks within a function or Globally

    Hi Guys,
    This should start something.
    The subject is DAQmx Tasks.
    If you were writing a function that is called many times, say MeasureVolts (double *Value) to obtain a reading from an Analogue Input Channel.
    Would you.
    1. open and start the task inside the function, do the measurement and then close the task inside the same function.
    or
    2. open the task globally and later do the measurement inside the function using the global task then close the task only when the application is closed.
    I am mostly concerned with the overhead of task generation and closing, what do you guys and girls out there do?? and what is the general opinion?
    I would appreciate your views.
    Regards
    Paul.

    I would definitely NOT keep configuring and clearing (I think that's what you mean by open and close) the same task over and over.  I would configure once, read many times in my main app, then stop & clear once.
    I typically like to package such data acq into an "Action Engine" that keeps track of its own DAQmx task id so I don't need to sling that task id wire around into multiple parallel loops / vi's.  Attached is a very stripped-down example for Digital Input.
    I would typically do more with error testing and would make the "Action" enum into a typedef custom control, but this gives you the basic idea.  The action engine approach works very nicely when there's a small # of different kinds of input parameters and output info needed to support all the necessary action cases.   When you start needing a large number of differnent kinds of inputs and outputs to support the desired actions, then you start having difficulty with (1) having enough terminals to wire and (2) remembering which inputs and outputs are meaningful for which actions.

  • Auto-close a task

    Auto-close a task
    How can I set up a task so I can just use it to attach an email notice, then automatically close the task, so the next task in the delivery plan will become active?
    Use the ServiceLink Dummy Adapter to create an auto-close Agent that will automatically close any task delegated to that Agent.
    Then create your 2 tasks with their respective conditions and corresponding email templates, and associate them each with this Agent (in the Workflow Type dropdown list on the General sub-tab for the task).
    Only one of the tasks will fire (based on the condition), and that task will be automatically closed by the Agent.
    CREATING AN AUTO-CLOSE AGENT
    (1) In ServiceLink, click Agents.
    (2) On the Agents page, click Create Agent.
    (3) Enter a Name and Action for the agent, such as "Auto-Close".
    (4) For the Outbound Adapter, select Dummy Adapter.
    (5) For the Inbound Adapter, select None (auto complete).
    (6) Click Submit to create the Agent.
    (7) Click Start Agent to start the Agent.
    (8) The Agent will now be available in the Workflow Type dropdown list on the General sub-tab for all tasks.

    Sorry the delay in getting back to you.  Hm, so do you have the parent task and child task evaluated?  I am guessing your version should have the ability to select when the conditional expression is evaluated (when delivery phase starts or acitivity become active) The child task that has the always false expression should be configured to evaluate when the activity becomes active.  Also if you would like please attach a screen capture of the workflow you created?

  • Reader X - how to close the Task Pane

    Once the Task Pane in Reader X has opened, how can it be closed (without closing Reader)?
    Thanks!

    "Task Pane" is Adobe's terminology -- e.g., http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/WS8b24479264ec4228503f719f12bedff5483-8000.h tml
    Yes, I can hide the Comment tools in that way, but I have not yet found a way to get the Task Pane itself to close (short of closing Reader X entirely).
    If there is no simple way to close the Task Pane, then some users will probably start calling it the "Task Pain"!

  • Can no longer open two Firefox tabs, have close using Task Bar/Processes. Some links won't activate on websites. As per support suggestion,have backed up profile, deleted existing profile, removed firefox and replaced thingsetc

    Can no longer open two Firefox tabs at the same time. Will disappear from screen but won't close - have to go to Task Bar/ Processes to close it, some links won't activate on websites. As suggested in the support area I have gone through the process of backing up my profile, deleted existing profile, removed firefox from computer, reinstalled profile in fresh folder, reinstalled firefox 6. I have done this twice for no effect - may work as it used to for a while (30mins) then gets back to its old tricks.
    It is a bit irritating.

    Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
    You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • Workflow to close Parent Task if all Children Tasks are Marked as Complete

    Hi All,
    I am struggling in creating a workflow which would mark my parent task as complete once all children tasks(I have subgrid in parent task where I add children tasks) have been marked as complete. I would assume it would be on a wait condition but
    I could have many children tasks and I guess I am little unsure how to create this wait condition to check whether all children tasks are complete and then complete parent task...
    Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks so much!

    You can't do this out of the box.  There's no easy way to check all child records on a parent record and then close the parent record.  You'll either have to find another approach, or do some custom development to create a workflow that can do
    what you want.

  • Adobe 10.1.7 will not close in task manager after you exit the program. High cpu

    Hello,
    Updated to 10.1.7 and noticed that when you close the program an instance of acrobat stays open in task manager with high 50%+ cpu usage. Will not close at all unless you end task. if you open adobe again a new instance opens again consuming more cpu and cripples the machine with high cpu. This is on win 8 64bit machine. Had the previous release 10.1.6 working for some time on the same machine with no issues.
    Thank you in advance

    Identical issue with Acrobat XI Pro on Windows 8 Pro 64 bit. After viewing PDF file, upon closing Acrobat, a new Background Process starts called Adobe Acrobat (32 bit) uses 18% of cpu.  I have left run for three to four hours and does not close.  If I open another PDF file and then close, a second Background Process of Adobe Acrobat (32 bit) start, also using 18% of cpu.  I was able to open a third PDF file and upon closing a third Background Process of Adobe Acrobat (32 bit) start, also using 18% of cpu.  I did not try more.  All three consume over 50% of processor and after an hour does not close.  Fan and cpu begin to run hot so I manual End Task.  I tried Repair Acrobat Installation command, did not fix.  After searching forum used the Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html) to uninstall.  Then downloaded Acrobat XI Pro from My Adobe account login.  Reinstalled software.  Issue gone, could not replicate even after several hours of trying.  Then Checked for Updates. After updates installed, loaded and brought to version 11.0.3, problem returned as before. I have PDF files on both local drive and NAS, been able to recreate issue on both.  In a PDF intensive environment, I was having to leave the task manager up and occasionally stop Background Process of Adobe Acrobat (32 bit) so as to keep processor usage and fan speed down, thanks to Goateye01 for the suggestion, I now leave Acrobat open and close the files, this way the background process hang does not occur.  Additional Note, only able to create issue with standalone application, issue does not occur when in IE10 and viewing PDF files.   Hopefully a fix or helpful guidance coming soon?

  • Firefox 4.0 won't close, have to close via task manager (Vista).

    I am unable to close Firefox 4.0 from "X' in upper right corner, File/Exit, or Right-Clicking on taskbar and selecting Close. Have to open task manager to stop the process. Running a Vista machine, never had this issue with any other program (or any Firefox version).

    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
    If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

  • Modal Dialog won't close before tasks complete..

    Hi all,
    Basic, but quite infuriating problem. Because Illustrator doesn't allow palette type windows, nothing can happen whilst the dialog is open. So, I've been using scripts I wrote over six months ago now for producing sets of scale elevations of my designs with filled out title-blocks etc.. Which have literally saved me a good half-hour per drawing set I need to produce.
    The time has come for a test function for one of the parameters in my dialog though, because at the moment it requires careful judgement to guestimate the number and a failure means a lot of undoing (deleting a dozen files that the script creates once it starts etc).
    So I've coded in a test button into my dialog, setup the callback handler onClick and tested everything, and the sequence of events I would like to occur is as follows;
    Dialog closes - dlg.close()
    My Scaling operation occurs
    The script pauses for three seconds
    then undoes the action - app.undo()
    and reopens the dialog - dlg.show()
    Every one of these events is tried and tested.. But they occur out of order when I run the script because each action runs at a different rate. setTimeout also doesn't work in Adobe's javascript (at least not in Illustrator), so I can't individually delay items.
    So I've been testing bits in isolation to troubleshoot.. And I'm most concerned that the dialog close before any actions run - as this seems to cause the hold-up. A friend who is far more adept than I tells me it's because the dialog takes ownership, and as such the script dies if the dialog closes. If this is the case, is there a way I can create a false parent or prevent the dialog from doing this?
    Try this code to see what I mean - clicking test should close the dialog, pause for three seconds and display its message.
    If you comment out the while and if statements and their respective closing braces, you'll see that the dialog holds before closing. That code is there to ensure it closes before doing anything.
    You should run this from Extendscript so you can halt it - else it will loop indefinitely. Note that Extendscript does behave differently; Illustrator halts when you click test, Extendscript appears to close the dialog but does nothing thereafter, however it still loops.
    var test;
    // Pause Function
    function pause(msec)
    var done = null;
    var date = new Date();
    var curDate = null;
    do curDate = new Date();
    while(curDate-date < msec);
    var done = 1;
    return done;
    dlg = new Window('dialog', 'Parameter Entry', [0,0,480,384]);
    dlg.center();
    dlg.testField = dlg.add('panel', [20,65,460,105], 'Scale Factor');
    dlg.testField.titleEt = dlg.testField.add('button', [385,5,420,25], 'Test', {name: 'testButton'});
    dlg.add('button', [315,337,385,360], 'OK', {name: 'ok'});
    dlg.add('button', [395,337,465,360], 'Cancel', {name: 'cancel'});
    function testButtonOnClick()
    dlg.closeresult = dlg.close(1);
    while (dlg.closeresult < 1) {
    if (dlg.closeresult == 1) {
    pause(3000);
    alert('If you can make this display - email me!');
    // TEST SEQUENCE (CLOSE DIALOG, SCALE IMAGE, 3SEC PAUSE, UNDO, REOPEN DIALOG)
    dlg.testField.testButton.onClick = testButtonOnClick;
    dlg.result = dlg.show();
    if (dlg.result == 1) { // OK
    // MAIN PROGRAM CODE

    Erm, well, I'd say that your nested loop will have 100 iterations. I assume you are missing a break statement somewhere but as I don't know your application...
    One other observation - surely the if statement (in the else if) is not required? Either something is equals or it is not?
    Whoops - sorry - 81 iterations as pointed out below!

  • Can't close a Task

    I have written an application with Visual Basic .net, I use 2 tasks simultaneously, the first one is for capturing data with the class AnalogUnscaledReader and the second task is to write this data using the class AnalogUnscaledWriter. The system is working correctly, but when I try to stop the output task then the application crash. I can stop the input task but not the output task.
    What could be happening?
    Analog Output (NI PCI-6723)
    Analog Input (PCI-6071E)

    If you could attach the application, I could run it and test it.

  • WD-ABAP CHIP with BPM 7.30 - how to close the task?

    Hi all,
    after quite a while struggling (also due to the poor documentation) with CHIPS and Plugs and ...
    the first part works, I get the parameters from BPM into the WD-A.
    But I have not yet found a way to tell the iView that my work is done.
    The standard Outplug from WD-A (Window and/or View) do not trigger the surrounding iView.
    With WD-J there comes a popup asking if the task should be closed, with WD-A not...
    Any help appreciated, even if the topic is quite new.
    best regards & thanks in advance,
    Reinhard

    Hi Helmut,
    with the "new" NW ABAP - Stack now it's working!
    Requirements:
    NW ABAP 7.02 SP8 (not the ABAP-Preview with SP6 -> simply doesn't work!)
    NW CE 7.30 SP3
    and some tweaks in the portal configuration, but that will always remain a miracle to me...
    Special trick for German users:
    You have to provide Logonlanguage "DE" in the NWDS-Server settings (or you have to manually input english texts for the WD-A CHIP).
    Otherwise the text is empty and NWDS is sorting out your entries!
    Small hint to the masters at SAP:
    The CHIP-"search" list provided is ok for playing around but not suitable for real work.
    no sorting, no filtering, small window, no details,...
    best regards,
    Reinhard

  • Itunes will not open (or close in Task Manager)

    I did a search and couldnt find exactly what I was looking for...
    Duel Core Athlon
    3.01 GHz
    2 GIG RAM
    XP Pro SP2
    AVG Anti-Virus
    I simply can NOT get Itunes to open. I am not exactly sure the version, but I tried to DL the newest version to fix this.
    When I click on Itunes, I get an hour glass for about 3 seconds and nothing happens. In Task Manager, it shows Itunes.exe is running, but I can NOT end the process. (???) I tried the uninstall, repair, etc. and I just dont understand it.
    I also tried plugging in both of my players without starting Itunes...nothing.
    Any help out there on what I should do?

    well....
    I have been working on this for over 2 hours. I have went through registry stuff, uninstalls, re-installs, etc.
    I have noticed a few things..
    (keep in mind when I click on say MS Outlook, it opens in less than 1 second).
    If I click on Itunes, my computer freezes for about 20-30 seconds. I cant even Ctrl Alt Del.
    qtime.exe (I think that is what it is called) is not found at ALL in the task manager (possibly the problem)
    I did each and EVERY thing in the docs, but nothing worked. Each and every other function within Windows is functioning properly. No new software has been installed in months, and I used Itunes less than a week ago.

  • How do I stop Firefox from thinking it crashed and doing a recovery when forced to use Windows Task manager to close a bad URL that I never want to go back to?

    Long question, I know :~) There are web sites that I may visit that will not allow me to exit the site, so I use Alt-Ctrl-Del in Windows to start the Task Manager and force the site to close by ending the program. The new version of Firefox (31.0) thinks that Firefox crashed and send me right back to the source of my problem.
    Your documentation for this process is as follows:
    After a crash
    Due to unexpected issues such as problems with a website, software errors, or an accidental loss of power, Firefox may unexpectedly close. In these situations, Firefox can restore the pages that you were visiting when it is restarted. Firefox will automatically restore your previous session, the first time you launch it after a crash.
    If Firefox crashes a second time, the Restore Session (i.e. "Well, this is embarrassing") page will appear when you next launch Firefox.
    ...and this is what I found trying to stop this process. Next, when I am forced to use Task Manager to close Firefox a second time to stop a badware site, then the 'Well this is embarrassing' dialog appears and I am finally safely away from the URL.
    I do not want Firefox automatically sending me back to a problem site.
    Thank you for any procedure you can suggest to stop Firefox from restoring problem web pages, Art Clapton

    I am unwilling to attempt navigation away from these sites. The pop-ups that occur on the attempt to leave a site or to close the browser are exit traps offering incentive to stay.
    Once upon a time, when the internet was less dangerous, I would be willing to close the exit pop-ups. Now, after twice being infected with malware trying to close the pop-ups, I now force close whichever browser I am using.
    Recently, I clicked on the red X to close one pop-up, and it installed a trojan that I had to pay to be removed. When I clicked on 'Leave' in another exit pop, it didn't exit and it turned out I was giving permission to run a script file. Now that criminals have learned these exit pop-ups can be used to force a click action, the sites using them have become dangerous.
    If I force the browser to close using Task manager, Please tell me how to stop FireFox from sending me directly back to the same site because it mistakenly believes it crashed when it did not. I forced it to close because I was on a site that had taken control of my browser and was not allowing me to leave the site.
    No other browser sends me back to the potentially dangerous sites. I prefer Firefox, but the new version must have a setting that allows me to get safely away from a problem site?
