is it possible to close a window like the file - new - window in word??
i want to close a error message from another program

Hi,
You generaly don't want to close the window, but the process.
If you close the window, the program will still be running, and it will be impossible to close it, bcause it has no window! You'll have to use taskmanager...
So you need to search all processes, select the correct one by name, and kill the process. If you have multiple word windows, I don't think you can kill just one window, but I'm not sure. All word windows might run under the same process...

the js function to window.open() is in pageAA on a tab.
We click the form or link to open the popup to run a video.
We have a close button on the popup window.
When that is clicked the window.close() js is executed on that page leaving Zotero present and the popup still open.
We've tried using close() window.close() name.window.close() and
all fail the same way.
Short of disabling Zotero is there a way to close the popup in FF and any other addons with one shot?

In safe mode everything works.
Without Zotero - everything works.
When the popup is loaded with Zotero, the tab shows a constant "Loading" with the circular in process icon.
The Zotero icon shows to the left of the tab.
If I right click on Zotero and close it, the close() js works properly
Is there a way to do a window.open() with:
A. no tabs -or-
B. block all add on's -or-
C. to kill an add on

How to close browser window with AS2

I'm currently working with a flash movie that opens up an IE browser to an external link.
Since I'm working with a presentation that plays automatically after a few seconds and keeps loading new IE browsers with different links, I was wondering if there was a way with AS2, i can have flash close the IE window it opened?

Close Browser Window with view button element when view embedded into fpm

is it possible to build a button into a component view which is embedded into a fpm to close the browser window?
tried to build a exit plug within the view/window of my component. But nothing happened. the window stays open
Maybe is it an option to fire the fpm close plug of the fpm from my component view embedded into the fpm?

Using the close button of the fpm is not an option because the window should automaticaly close when clicking on a button embedded into my component view.

Adobe photoshop cc 2014 won't close window with unsaved file

Recently installed update to Photoshop via creative cloud. Photoshop works great but for some reason I am unable to close a window with an unsaved project. Pressing command-w or going to file close doesn't do anything. As soon as I save the file I can close the window or quit photoshop. Is this in the preferences? Please advice.

I'm having this same issue. Can't close an unsaved file that has been opened, even if it is completely unedited. When an unsaved file is present, I can't quit Photoshop, either.
I'm on OSX 10.7.5 (yes, I know...it's aged), Photoshop CC. Plenty of memory and disk space, so that's not the issue.

Prevent close window with Tabs present hack?

I can't seem to find the reference but I came across in the last month or so, a hack/mod/script that prompted a dialogue box to pop up if you ask Safari to close a window while there are other tabs present. Does anyone know of this too? I'm hoping it will work as well when you accidently hit Command Q when you are meaning to hit Command W. (I lost the dozen or more pages of interest out of a recent 50-80, after hours of research) I guess another option would kill the Command Q stroke in Safari, but I'm not sure if it is a global thing or not.
I'll of course make the suggestion to Apple, but in the mean time any ideas?

Have a search for Taboo at macupdate.com. That will give you a warning when you try to close a window with several tabs on it.

Close external window in NW04s

We are using the following API in order to close an external window: TaskBinder.getCurrentTask().getClient().sendRedirect("javascript:window.close();",0);
After closing the window, the object in the backend system remain locked (and not released). it seems that the session remains alive and hence the object is locked.
If we close the window with the X of the window, the object of the backend is released as required.
As suggestions?

Step 1: Take a context attribute(WindowInstance) of type com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.session.api.IWDWindow.
Step 2: Take a CloseButton in the View(DisplayView) that is used as a embed View of external Window.

[dwm] can not close irssi window when opened in a xterm class

Hello guys,
I know the subject title is not really meaningful but the problem is a bit odd.
When I start irssi in a opened xterm window I can easily close it via modkey-shift-c. To open it directly in a specific tag I created a new class for irssi and defined in config.h how to deal with that class.
the script called "irc"

When I then try to close the window with modkey-shift-c I just get the message "Irssi: Reloaded configuration".
I don't really know why this happens. I defnied also a seperate class for alsamixer and closing this is working without any problem.
What could I try to solve that?

What key do you have assigned as modkey in dwm?
It seems that modkey+shift+c is issuing the /RELOAD command in irssi rather than closing the window. The modkey is superceded by whatever appilcation is running in the terminal.
I run irssi in xterm and modkey+shift+c closes it without issue.

Can't close Safari windows

I can close tabs, but when I get to the final tab, I cannot close the window. Neither can I close any window with multiple tabs open, either by pressing the red close button or with CMD-W. I can minimize the window, however. I've tried resetting Safari and deleting prefs, all to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

First, try restarting your Mac. If that doesn't help...
Your profile indicates you are running 10.4.11 with Safari 3.0.4
Tiger 10.4.11 minimum requirements for Safari is Safari 4 with the 2009-002 Security Update installed. Click Safari/About Safari to make sure which version of Safari you are runnig.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

Confirmation from Safari when you close a window on Mavericks

Hi all,
I was wondering if it was possible to have like a little warning from Safari when we quit a window on this application. For example: Are you sure you want to quit this window?". Firefox has this application when you close a window with several tabs.
I looked in the preferences, but i haven't found it. I know this kind of warning was present on the elder versions of Safari, so why not now?

Actually, you're right. After a little investigation, it was the way I was using the gui that was making this happen. During debuging (using Netbeans) I would open the dialog window then click on netbeans to check the console for a couple System.out.println()'s I put in the code. Then on closing the Dialog window Netbeans would be the next window selected by the OS and would appear over the original JFrame. D'oh! Just sillyness on my part imagining problems for myself.
I guess what I was looking for was that when I close the dialog window that the OS would focus to the parent JFrame instead of the previously viewed application.

When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything... Very buggy.

It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again.

When one window containing 1 tab is closed, the other window with several tabs closes also

I have a set of web pages that reproducibly causes Firefox to act incorrectly. When Firefox is first started I click the "Restore previous desktop" button. Then I have 2 Firefox windows. The first to open has 6 tabs; the second has 1 tab. When I close the 2nd window (with 1 tab), it also closes Firefox completely with no error message. When I run Firefox again, "Restore" creates both windows exactly as they were before.
I don't know yet if the actual URLs make a difference, but here they are anyway:

The page has definitely finished being rendered (the refresh icon is displayed after the url "woot"), but the URL does not match the page. The URL displayed is not even in its proper form (i.e., www.woot.com).
Remember that this page was RESTORED by Firefox from a previous session. It is as if I was on that tab at verizon, tried to go to woot.com by typing "woot" (which would of course bring up a search rather than the web page), DIDN'T PRESS ENTER, and Firefox is duplicating that entire sequence.

With this exact set of windows and tabs, as restored by Firefox in a brand new instance of it, double-clicking the red Firefox in the top left corner of the 2nd window causes both windows to close.
I wish I could save this configuration so I could always reproduce the error, but I need my computer :)

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox Profile Folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).
