  • Close Browser From PDF

    HI Guys,
    I created a pdf form when the user downloads it he can choose open, save, cancel. I'd like the form to close when the user clicks on the submit button. I found app.execMenuItem("Close") which works fine from a local copy but if the user open the form without saving it first, I get an error message: can't execute command from within an external window. So I guess I need some javascript in the form to close the browser. As the window is automaticly created when the user clicks on open, I can catch it. I have seen something about AVDOC but it looks like VB code.
    Thanks for your help

    Acrobat cannot close a browser from inside a PDF. What you will need to do it create a hostContainer that can communicate between the PDF and the HTML page the PDF is embedded in. You can then have the PDF issue a message to the HTML page hostContainer that will tell it to close itself.
    See the Doc.hostContainer section of the JavaScript for Acrobat API Reference for more information.

  • Close browser from iview

    Hi all,
    This is the scenario;
    We have implemented an application workflow, in the universal work list of the portal we can see the tasks. When the user click in one of them the transaction SWK1 is triggered.
    We want to close the browser window when the user use the buttons Close (F12) or Exit (Shift+F3).
    We have an URL for close any browser and we want to redirect the current url to this url.
    What we have done is to copy the report RSWKSTRT used in the transaction SWK1 and we're trying to use the FM ITS_BROWSER_REDIRECT in order to call our Exit URL, but always returns the exception ITS_NOT_AVAILABLE.
    Within this FM the function ITS_PING is called and it always returns an exception.
    Do you know how can i do it?
    Thanks in advance.

    If we change the client from WINGUI to WEBGUI it's working fine. But we need to use WinGui.
    Any idea?

  • Getting hang/crash problem when I try to close browser window from applet

    I have a small Apllet that has a button that calls a Javascript function in the opening window, to close the window in which it is loaded.
    The Applet window is a PopUp window from one of my application's window. First time I start my application and load that Applet the button works fine. It calls the Javascript method and the Method closes the window using the self.close() method.
    But now if I open the applet window again and click on the button to close the windows, it hangs. I put in trace statements and saw that it hangs on JSObject.getWindow() window.
    I am using JDK Plugin 1.4.2_07 and 5.0 , if I work out on IE browser, it works fine.But when I use firefox or mozilla it gives problem of hanging/crashing.
    Note that in case of 1.4.2_07 this problem experienced some times but in case of 5.0 it gives always for other than IE browser.
    Please, if somebody could give me some clue about why this would happen, I will really appreciate that. and code related to this is given below

    Thanks.

    I am waiting for any reply. I have tried for all these below options still I am getting Problem. I heard this is because of javascript, it wont call methods more times .Thats
    why I need other than JSObject or java script solution.If some one know anything about this or any modifications I have to made for the below options to avoid that problem please let me know.
    // URL durl = new URL(thisObject.getCodeBase(), "test/CloseMe.htm");
    // System.out.println("URL :" + durl.toString());
    // thisObject.getAppletContext().showDocument(durl);
    //     thisObject.getAppletContext().showDocument(new URL("javascript:window.close();"), "_self");
    //win.eval("top.opener=self;top.close();");
    //win.call("close", null);
    //Object[] args = { "close", new Integer(50) };
    // win.call("setTimeout", args);
    //win.eval("setTimeout("close", new Integer(50));");
    If it is the problem of JRE I just need it should work on 1.4.2_01 or higher.

  • How to close the browser from an Applet?

    Hi,
    I've written one applet, with 2 buttons (Continue & Exit). On click of Continue button, it will open another web page. On click of Exit button, the browser should be closed.
    I'm not able to close the browser from the applet.
    Can any body help me.
    Rgds
    Santosh

    In my experience, calling Javascript from applets is flaky at best. However, I have gotten it to work in some cases. The following code should get you started:
    netscape.javascript.JSObject win = netscape.javascript.JSObject.getWindow(applet);
    Now you can call different methods on the win object (look into Javascript documentation for details).
    It also depends on if you are using the Java Plug-in or the JVM built into the web browser. You probably need set MAYSCRIPT=TRUE in your HTML. Look into the Java Plug-in documentation for details...

  • Closing Web Browser from an Applet

    Does anyone knows how to close the Web Browser from an Applet ?
    Also Is there a way to close a browser which is intantiated from using ApplteContext ().showDocument ("....","_Blank").
    Thanks
    Sohan

    Hi kavinjir!
    Using class netscape.javascript.JSObject is possible to interact with javascript which can easily close the window browser but I'm afraid about the newest one because it isn't a child window. If this newest window contains an applet both (applets) can interact and send/receive "messages" to trigger an event (e.g; close via javascript again).
    Best Regards.

  • Opening a browser from an applet

    I got a problem, I want to open a browser from my applet, but I just found one way:
    getAppletContext().showDocument(new URL(
    "http://www.java.sun.com"), "_blank");
    but the problem is: with this, the default browser with defaul settings is opened, and that's what I don't want...
    how can I open the browser with some settings (for example size, or no-url-bar, etc)
    thx for help

    hi,
    try this code:
    public void showDocument(java.net.URL url, String targetWindow)
    when targetWindow can be:
    "_blank" Display the document in a new, nameless window.
    "windowName" Display the document in a window named windowName. This window is created if necessary.
    "_self" Display the document in the window and frame that contain the applet.
    "_parent" Display the document in the applet's window but in the parent frame of the applet's frame. If the applet frame has no parent frame, this acts the same as "_self".
    "_top" Display the document in the applet's window but in the top-level frame. If the applet's frame is the top-level frame, this acts the same as "_self".

  • Close parent window of Mozilla browser from Java

    Hi All,
    I want to open a URL in a controlled browser from java stand alone application. I was able to do this in Netscape of UNIX OS. The method followed is given below.
    1. Launch a temporary HTML file which contains Javascript (to launch the URL in a controlled window). This is done using --- Runtime.getRuntime().exec() method.
    2. Close the parent HTML file on 'onLoad' using Javascript. (self.close).
    [ I tried window.close() & top.close() also.]
    Now I need to support the same for "Mozilla" also. But mozilla just ignores the close() command of Javascript.
    1. Is there any alternative way to close the parent window in Mozilla browser ?
    2. Is there any way to close the parent window from java by using 'Process' class/ threads/ ??
    3. Any other way???
    Note : I am using the intermediate window for using Javascript. (controlling the browser properties). Since Java cannot communicate to Javascript directly, I am forced to have such an intermediate HTML file.
    Thanks in advance.
    surekha_Venugopal.

    Some more details :
    Mozilla browser will close a window using window.close() command, but only if the window is opened by the script. If not it will not close it.
    Here, I am opening the window from Java application. That is why closure of the window is failing.
    Trying to find a solution.
    Regards,
    Surekha_Venogopal

  • Determining path from applet running on IE Browser

    Is there a way (system property, etc) to determine the path used by an Internet Explorer browser from within an applet?
    I'm trying to dynamically download a dll from my web server for use by an applet stored in a signed cabinet file and I need a location to store this file that is in the runtime path.
    Thanks

    No I don't think there is a way. But you could prompt the user for the correct directory

  • Open a Specific browser from an applet

    We can open a browser using appletContext().showDocument() Or even using Runtime.getRuntime().exec(rundll32,url.dll,FileProtocolHandler),
    but how can i specify a specific browser in applet. I have an application which works only in IE.

    You can't open a specific browser (if the applet is unsigned), and what's the problem with showDocument()?
    The need for this is unclear to me.

  • How do you close a dragged applet, as Stage.close() doesn't work?

    I'm trying to implement a close button in a draggable applet, but Stage.close() doesn't work, and there's an odd little "X" icon which is causing me problems...
    My starting point and example is the simple draggable applet from the API documentation. It's the code listed under "User-Specified Close Example":
    http://java.sun.com/javafx/1.2/docs/api/javafx.stage/javafx.stage.AppletStageExtension.html
    import javafx.scene.*;
    import javafx.scene.input.MouseEvent;
    import javafx.scene.paint.*;
    import javafx.scene.shape.*;
    import javafx.scene.text.*;
    import javafx.stage.*;
    var textContent = "Click the box to return to the browser";
    var outside: Boolean = false;
    var s: Stage = Stage {
        title: "AppDeploy Demo"
        width : 300 height : 200
        style: StageStyle.TRANSPARENT
        opacity: 0.5
        scene : Scene {
                content: [
                    Text { content: bind textContent
                           x: 25 y:35 fill: Color.BLACK
                           font: Font{size: 24}
                    Rectangle { x: 100 y: 100 width: 100 height: 100 fill: Color.RED
                                onMouseClicked: function(e: MouseEvent): Void {
                                    s.close();
        extensions: [
            AppletStageExtension {
                shouldDragStart: function(e: MouseEvent): Boolean {
                    return e.shiftDown and e.primaryButtonDown;
                useDefaultClose: false
    }However, the Stage.close() function in the user code doesn't seem to close the applet once it's dragged. It seems this can only be achieved by a mysterious little "X" in a box top right, acting as a close button.
    Here's a demonstration of the problem once you've compiled that code:
    1. Open browser with applet (I'm using IE8 on Windows XP)
    2. Shift-drag the applet out of the browser. Notice the little X in a box appears when you drop the applet on the desktop.
    3. Click the red rectangle to invoke the Stage.close() function in the user code.
    4. Applet disappears from screen and does not reappear in the browser.
    5. But minimising all the icons on the desktop shows the little X in a box is still there sitting on your desktop (actually I find the X has gone, but the box is still there). This suggests the applet is still running.
    6. Close the browser. The little X's box is still on the desktop.
    7. After a short pause a Java dialog box appears: "Desktop integration warning. The application would like to create shortcuts. Do you want to continue? OK/Skip" The applet wasn't closed, it is still running!
    8. Click Skip. Dialog box disappears. But the little X's box is still on the desktop. Is the applet still running?
    9. Try to recompile app again into a deployable Jar (I'm using Eclipse for this).
    10. The compiler stops with "ERROR: Jar file C:\[...].jar could not be deleted. The Jar is probably locked by running application, Web browser, emulator or antivirus. Please check that all windows related to the application have been closed." Yes, the applet Jar is still being used.
    11. Minimise all the windows. The little X's box is still on the desktop.
    12. Click the little X's box.
    13. After a few seconds the box disappears. Does this mean the applet is no longer in use...?
    14. Recompile the app again into a deployable Jar. It works!
    By the way, you get the same experience with another Sun sample: the DraggableMP3Player at
    http://javafx.com/samples/DraggableMP3Player/index.html
    That, too, thinks it's implementing it's own close button, and again the same problem occurs.
    So it seems Stage.close() doesn't properly close the applet, and only the the little X in a box will do this.
    I'd like to be able to really close the applet from my own code. How can I do this?
    Many thanks
    Nik

    After double tap home button, swipe up on the app card that appears above the icon.

    yeah! i got the related topic at http://www.theserverside.com/tt/articles/article.tss?l=HttpClient_FileUpload. please look it, i am reading it right now and expecting to be reliable for me.
    well what i got, when request made by html code(stated above) then all the form fields and file data mixed as binary data and available in HttpServletRequest.getinputstream. and at servlet side we have to use a mutipart parser of DiskFileItemFactory class that automatically parse the file data and return a FileItem object cotaing the actual file data,right?.You can also setup the MultipartFilter in your environment and don't >care about it further. Uploaded files will be available as request attributes in the servlet.is the multipartfilter class file available in jar files(that u suggested to add in yours article) so that i can use it directly? one more thing the import org.apache.commons.httpclient package is not available in these jar files, so where can got it from?
    one mere question..
    i looked somewhere that when we request for a file from webserver using web browser then there is a server that process our request and after retrieving that file from database it sends back as response.
    now i confused that, wheather these webservers are like apache tomcat, IBM's webspher etc those processes these request or there is a unique server that always turned on and process all the request?
    because, suppose in an orgnisation made it's website using its own server then, in fact, all the time it will not turned on its server or yes it will? and a user can make a search for kind of information about this orgnisation at any time.
    hopes, you will have understand my quary, then please let me know the actual process

  • Passing values from applet using POST method to PHP page

    Hello there ;)
    I realy need a help here.. I`ve been working all day on sending mail from applet. I didn`t succeed bcs of the security restrictions.
    So I decided just to pass arguments into PHP page, which process them and send e-mail to me.
    So here is the problem.. I need to send String variables througth POST into my php page. Now I`m using GET method, but I need more than 4000 characters.
    My actual solution is:
      URL url = new URL("http://127.0.0.1/index.php?name=" + name + "&message=" + message);
    this.getAppletContext().showDocument(url,"_self");I really need to rewrite it into POST. Would you be so kind and write few lines example [applet + php code]? I`ve already searched, googled, etc.. Pls don`t copy links to other forums here, probably I`ve read it.
    Thanx in advance to all :)

    hi!
    i`ve got some news about my applet.. so take this applet code:
    public class Apletik extends JApplet {
        public void init() { }
        public void start()
        try
          String aLine; // only if reading response
          String  parametersAsString = "msg=ahoj&to=world";
          byte[] parameterAsBytes = parametersAsString.getBytes();
          // send parameters to server
          URL url = this.getCodeBase();
          url = new URL(url + "spracuj.php");
          URLConnection con = url.openConnection();
          con.setDoOutput(true);
          con.setDoInput(true); // only if reading response
          con.setUseCaches(false);
          con.setRequestProperty("Content=length", String.valueOf(parameterAsBytes.length));
          OutputStream oStream = con.getOutputStream();
          oStream.write(parameterAsBytes);
          oStream.flush();
          String line="";
          BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(con.getInputStream()));
          while ((aLine = in.readLine()) != null)
           JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, aLine);
           if(aLine.equals("")) break;
          in.close();
