Closing an iView

A user navigates within a portal to an iView.
I have a requirement to add a button onto the iView WD application that
would simply close the  iView which was opened.
I understand that in the portal we cannot use an exit plug.
Instead we simply add an outbound plug to the WD view which
accepts a single parameter close_window of type wdy_boolean.
I fire this plug in the button, passing close_window = abap_true,
but the view stays open.

Hi!!
Can yu detail out as to how you achieved it!!

  • New iview Window Session Handling in Enterprise Portal

    Hi All,
We are using Webdynpro iviews and SAP Transaction iviews at ITC for portal implementation. We are opening the iviews in New window using "Launch in Separate Window". We have the following issues
    - When I log off from Portal , the webdynpro iview session is killed automatically - No issues.
    - When I close the portal window WITH OUT LOGOFF, then webdynpro iview session is still existing
    - In case of SAP Transaction iview irrespective whether the Portal is logged off or closed , transaction iview session exists.
    - When I log off from the Transaction iview , I still see the same window in opened status ,but blank.
Would appreciate any suggestions on these at the earliest.
    Thanks in advance.

  • IViews opening up in "closed" mode.

    Hello All,
As a business requirement some IViews in our portal requires to be opened in a "closed" or "minimized" state. This was easily done, because we can configure this in the IView properties.
But I noticed that once we maximime (or open) one such IView, the portal "remembers" that state. So much so that when a user logs in again, the IView opens up in the "open/maximized" state.
Is there any way in which we can stop E.P from "remembering" the current state (open/closed) of the IView?

    Hi All,
The Hiding/Displaying iView Content is a Personalization option of the User. So if the user changes the state then it is changed for this user for ever.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/cc/64e93b3a612d52e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
The only way to get around this is to clear the personalization for the user.

  • Error when Closing BW transaction iView from Portal

    Hi guys,
I have several Transaction iViews pointing to different BW / ECC systems that are working fine when they are executed.
Problem is when the user clicks on any other folder within portal after running any of these iViews, the following error is displayed:
    "Required resource not available".
Then Portal gets frozen and only solution is to close the browser tab and reload portal. Looks like whenever the iView is closed, portal tries to log on again as it is calling the SAP GUI.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks in advance !!

    Hi,
It looks like a permission issue. You should check the permissions of the folder containing the system in the portal. (System Administration > System Configuration then Open Permissions on the system object). Every user who is supposed to have access to the iView should be there as End User (for instance : Everyone (group), Administrator = none, End User = checked).

  • Refresh the table after closing the Popup iView

    Hi all,
I have list of survey in my table. In that table i have toolbar button(DELETE) for deleting the survey. While deleting the survey it asks the confirmation. If we click Ok it delete the selected survey and close the popup also. what I want is I should refresh the table after closing the Popup. How can i achieve this?
    Help me in this regard.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Hemalatha J

    Hi Hema,
    Check this link.
Visual Composer - You can do anything....
In this blog, they are used 'Refresh' Button and a Hidden 'Plain text' message to solve this problem. If you are satisfy with this you can take this solution.
Or you can try to trigger the 'Submit' action of 'Input form' once again from the 'Popup window' when the 'Delete' button is clicked.
    Hope it helps...

    Hello,
There is one way around though it is big..but sure shot. On the click on button you can define a action.
In action you can set to navigate to other iView named as CLoseWindow.
This iView you need to generate thru par file which calls Javascript window.close() on body load of jsp file and you can also set ur DSM Terminator with that.
It works I know, but thru WD API.. I am sure there must be a way around. But if in case its highly urgent you can go with this meanwhile.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Regarding iViews closing

    Hi Experts,
I would like to get some clarifications.
We have a dashboard with 5-7 iviews. Result set is one of that. We tried avoiding the inital load to the result set since we have around 200000 records. we failed in getting that.  Now the clerification points are
    1. Is there a way to avoid initial loading
    2. If we are making on the iview collpased in property for resultset, would this avoid loading at start up? or still the data is loading and then its collapsed? i.e. same transaction time, same memory will be used?
Kindly hele me understanding or refer some materials.
    thanks,
    SK

    Hi SK,
If I'm following your description correctly, you offer 5 iViews anchored to single page/role and all iViews are loaded simultaneously at runtime. This simultaneous loading is what you're trying to avoid and you'd rather the iViews (data) remained collapsed until a user clicks them. Correct?
If so, this fix may be more simple than you think. If you just "push" your iViews to the detailed navigation area of the role, you'll achieve what you want. You can do this many ways but the easiest would be to make sure your role is an entry point, this ensures it appears in TLN. Then add a folder at the root level of the role and give it some name since this name will be seen in 2nd level navigation. Place your iviews in that folder, this ensures they appear in DTN.
In this scenario, the first iView in the list will be shown when the role is called at runtime. However, if you want them all to remain "inactive" until clicked, you could always add a "Workset Map iView" as the first entry in the folder, before your iViews. This way, when the role is called at runtime, the folder name appears in 2nd level and the workset map iView is called whichi will simply display a list of the 5 iViews in the portal content area with a generic icon (which is customizable). When a user clicks one of those, the report runs, but not until.
Is that what you meant? If not, let me know.

  • Open iView in new WINDOW for CATW

    HI All,
We are on Netweaver2004s and the browser used is either Internet Explorer 7 (Microsoft Vista) or Mozilla Firefox.
Now what I need help on is that I have a link on my page that says "Report Your Time", this link calls the Internet Service CATW via the  ITS from my R/3 and opens the TIMESHEET (which is an iView) to be filled in by the user <b>in a new window</b>.
On this TIMESHEET I have a link called as "EXIT" , now after the timesheet is filled and saved, the user should use this "EXIT" link to leave the window. The code behind "EXIT" is so written by SAP that it kills the user's session. But not always and all user's use this "EXIT" link, they generally close the window by browser's (X) close button. This causes the user to get locked in the backend.
So far I have been able to trap the browser's (X) close button and kill the session by using "setOKCode('/nex')". This works fine in I.E 6 (which has no tabs) and if the user <b>closes</b> Mozilla Firefox from the top (X) close button of the browser.
BUT, in I.E 7 and mozilla firefox, when the user clicks on "<u>Report Your Time</u>" link on my page, a new tab opens and the TIMESHEET is displayed on this tab within the same browser window, so after filling and saving the timesheet when the user closes the (TIMESHEET) <b>tab</b>, the session does not get killed and the user gets locked in the backend. Here, <b>if</b> the user had closed the entire browser window by using the  the top (X) close button of the browser, instead of just closing the <b>tab</b> containing the TIMESHEET, then his session would have been killed by my code.
This is the code that identifies if the user has clicked on  top (X) close button of the browser. <b>But this code does not identify if a browser's tab is closed.</b>
    <BODY onbeforeunload="HandleOnClose()">
    <script language="javascript">
    <!--
    function HandleOnClose() {
       if (event.clientY < 0) {
          event.returnValue = 'Are you sure you want to leave the page?';
In the above I check clientY property of the event object, which is used to set or retrieve the y-coordinate of the mouse pointer's position relative to the client area of the window, excluding window decorations and scroll bars.
Is there a way to capture the closing of a browser's tab. A way by which I can trap the event raised when the browser window's tab is closed.
This has to be done via "Java Script" since the code will be placed in the HTML template in SE80.
Kindly help with your expert suggestions
    Regards
    Saurabh

    Hi Aviad,
You could set "fullscreen=yes" (without quotes) for the property called "Window Features" (technical name: "com.sapportals.portal.navigation.WinFeatures") on the navigation element in question (iView or, if existent, surrounding page). Take care, this opens the window without frame and toolbar (closable by ALT-F4).
To get a 100% screen (with toolbar, frame etc), you have to calculate the clients resolution before, using JS for example. So you would need to build a workaround, for example an iView with no output but opening a new window with a certain NavURL as target.
    Hope it helps

  • Closing the browser - new problem

    Hi Experts,
I had this issue of closing the browser in web Dynpro Java. i did it with the help of the experts views posted in SDN(passing the URL of the java file containing the javascript to close the browser to the exit plug). When i created an iView for the application and try to preview it, throws an error reading - com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Exit-Plug must no be triggered with an URL when running in portal. Use portal navigation instead to navigate to another application!. Please help.
    Thank You.
    Kind Regards,
    Manoj Durairaj

Well, with more testing and my buddy's help, what I've learned is that the "Save and Quit" tabs dialogue takes precedence over the warning for closing multiple tabs.
By having browser.showQuitWarning set to true, it will ask me to save and quit - but not if "Show my windows and tabs from last time" is selected for Firefox startup, which makes the prompt for save and quit (and close multiple tabs warning) redundant. It will just save for you upon quitting.
And had I turned off that browser.showQuitWarning manually or by checking "Do not ask next time" on the save and quit dialogue, then the warning for closing multiple tabs would appear upon attempting to close multiple tabs, since I have that warn option set in my tabs settings.
It's one or the other, save and quit OR warning for closing multiple tabs.
It would be nice though if there weren't a conflict between the close multiple tabs warning and the quit Firefox dialogue.
So, I hope this can help anyone else who may be confused or accidentally change options and potentially screw themselves over. After all, I may have sustained a self-inflicted wound in the settings.

  • Browser window closing without showing MSS report

Under MSS user clicks on a report name in the portal bowser, it opens up a new pop-up window which closes out immedietly with another small pop-up coming up for " closing the session" and closing.
The case is same for all reports except one report(Attendance) in which it shows the report data.
This is an IAC iview that launches the "HRWPC_FC_EXEC" Internet Application Component.
    Anybody can help ??

    Hi Ram Gopal,
    Is ur problem got resolved..?
Please let me know the solution if it is resolved. Me too facing the same issue.
I observed that if the data is not there for that report, system closes the window.

  • Iviews not working in SAP Portal in DHTML viewer

    Hi
We are using BOXI 3.0 with SAP Integration Kit with SAP R/3 and SAP Portal. We are implementing Single Sign On from SAP Portal to BOXI 3.0 and have created few iviews in SAP Portal pointing to the reports in BOXI 3.0.
The Single Sign On works fine when the viewer in the Iview is selected as Java or Activex Viewer but goes in the logon loop when the viewer is selected as html_frame(i.e dhtml viewer).Have followed the installation and user guides very closely as well.Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards
    Kamal

    Hi Ji
Thanks for your reply.Yes we are using the master iview templates provided in the XI R3 media.
There are few things noticed in this case which I would like to point out:
1)Our environment is a distributed environment where Server 1 is the BO Server and Server 2 is the Web Server.
2)When we are trying to the run the sample iviews(Alert and Thumbnail) we are getting the error as below:
"Error: Server not found or server maybe down (FWM 01003) null"
Point to note here is that this error is reproduced when the CMS System is selected/entered wrongly but how come the message is showing Server02 which is the webserver instead of Server01.
3)When we trying to run Iview template it is redirected to login loop where the SAP Authentication is not seen.
