[CMS] Is some one running Zope/Plone on AL ?
Hi,
I'm mostly *newbie* on AL (runs flawlesly on my Dell Lattitude l400*), and would like to know wether somebody here runs Zope / Plone2 on it ? 'Cause I'm willing to install AL on an old PII Deschutte 192Mo RAM to build a NAT router + Zope/Plone2 server.
If you happened to run Zope/Plone on Arch Linux, then it would be kind to let me know whenever you encoutered scaring problem when installing / configureing it, thanks
Something nice is that repositories seem to provide required libs to run Zope/Plone (Python, zlib, libxml2, libxslt, pyxml & zope) so if those libs versions are those required to run this CMS, this will undoubtedly help & speed up Zope/Plone install & configuration
Therefore I searched but didn't find any references to Plone & its products neither on repositories nore on EN & FR forums or with Google, but a mention of Plone in newsletter 6-13-04
* Everything's running allright, included Chinese input (Scim), but the Cirrus Crystal Logic sound card (that does not run better with Ubuntu & Knoppix )
I think I said this alllllll wrong.
The OS is on an INTERNAL DRIVE....10.4.8
The secondary DRIVE was at one time a OS drive, it is now the STORAGE drive. Most applications allowed you, esepcially when I had the two drives at 10.4.6, to install the "PROGRAM" on OSX drive (including apple) (garage, Logic) and then chose a new DRIVE to install the samples.
NOW, they ALL HAVE RED ! (with the exception of OS drive). Is Apple aware of this?
So the work around would be to move the files to the secondary drive.
How would you point to those for:
Garage Band
Logic
Jam Packs

I have old MacBook running OS 10.6.8 I was told in Apple Genius Bar that I need a code from apple support to upgrade to 10.7. Apple support will not help because I am have their support plan. Can some one help?

I can erase and start agin on the new external drive - so this plan is to make two partititions, rather than the one at present, and make one of them 500 gb ?
I have found CCC [carbon copy cloner] googling - looks good.
When CCC site says it backs up the hard drive - would this mean all my files [over 100 gb] that are mostly in folders on the desktop, plus the others in itunes, iphotos etc found in the HD icon, would all copy across successfully [wherever they are in the computer ] ?

I am not able to install my 'Complete National Geographic' cd on my Mac mini which runs Lion OS. The error message I get says 'Can't open installer as classic environment is no longer supported' can some one suggest a solution.
It means the software is PowerPC code, which is no longer supported in Lion. Your choices are to go back to Snow Leopard, run Snow Leopard Server in a virtual machine within Lion, see if the vendor has an updated version of National Geographic that will run on an Intel Mac, or run the software on an older Mac separately.

I have plenty of DVD which I load in my laptop and watch the movies while travel, however I am not able to do that in my iPad .
I would appreciate some one guide me the simplest way of loading the movies in to my iPad. I tried the conventional procedure of loading/copying in to itune then sync to the iPad to load all movies in it, but failed to do the first step( not able to load /copy in itune) leave aside the sync to iPad next.
Do I need to sellout some 20 odd $ to buy a conversion software that would help?
Is it that Apple trying to make money by not making this simplest of thing possible by the user.( ref. windows, every thing is possible with little IQ of the user).
If it is so , I would stop many of my friends to restrain from buying a device like this by spending some 1000$ ,rather look at a good Droid that is catching up so well.If you are the only user on your computer you probably don't have multiple user accounts set up and can disregard that. If you are using iTunes 11 go to View>Show Sidebar. Now see if your iPad appears under Devices on the left side when you connect it. If it does, click on the name of your iPad on the left side and your iTunes sync settings options will appear in folders with tabbed headings to the right.

thnx in advanceOracle FailSafe is just a set of services that hook into Windows clustering to allow you to have an active/passive cluster (i.e. one instance mounted at a time). It just saves you the effort of manually configuring a bunch of things that Windows provides out of the box. I don't believe there are licensing implications to using FailSafe, but your Oracle sales rep would be the definitive answer there.
I'd strongly suggest that you use whatever clustering facilities are part of your OS. If you are trying to develop a general solution that will work on Windows and Solaris, I wish you luck. I'd bet it would be much easier to maintain a Windows-specific solution and a Solaris-specific solution using Windows- and Solaris-specific capabilities.

i have a macbook that was resantly upgrade we running Yosemite 10.9 OS and the external hard drive is fairly current brand name WD capacity 500GB with 147GB free lots of its contents are QuickTime Player videos that will like to open some other media is available in different format and is working properly, i have download a more current version of QuickTime Player and it sound better at list sound like it is going to star playing but it don't... so please if some one can help me with some answers will be real appreciate , thank you kindly looking forward to hear from you is my first time asking questions about apple it feels a bit like a shoot in the dark !
Is the friend's external drive where you said these files are, correctly formatted
for use with Mac OS X, or is it set up for use solely with a Windows format?
If you copy one of the QuickTime files into a folder, in your computer and try
to run it from there, does it work at that point? It may not. Could be the drive
you borrowed from a friend has some other issue; perhaps creator account
and permissions may also be limited by how the content was added there.
There is way too much missing information for me to guess, but I wonder about
how the hardware was set up and if the files are actually available to your Mac.
The QuickTime support page itself should be a portal to more information...

Clean Install of Snow Leopard
1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc. Insert the disc into the
optical drive and restart the computer. After the chime press and hold down the
"C" key. Release the key when you see a small spinning gear appear below the
dark gray Apple logo.
2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, set the format type to Mac
OS Extended (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Partition button.
3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X. You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
installation current. Start by downloading and installing Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. -

I have lost my iphone 5 in my office and after sometime I find it in my office in my back drawer but some one has lock it by ICloud plz help me how to recover my phone U have all details of my phone.The only way to locate/disable/erase any lost/stolen iPhone/iPod Touch is through Find My Phone or a similar app. However, this requires that Find My Phone be setup/activated, on your phone, before it was lost/stolen. You would then login at iCloud.com & try to locate it. This requires the phone be turned on & have an Internet connection. There is no other way to locate a lost/stolen iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, nor will your carrier. Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords, especially your Apple ID/iCloud password NOW!
If your carrier offers Blacklisting & they Blacklist the phone, it will be unusable as a phone.
If locked with a passcode, and running iOS 7.0, then phone cannot be re-activated or the passcode removed without knowing your Apple iD/Password. It will be nothing but a useless paperweight.
If not running iOS 7.0, the phone can be forced into recovery mode & restored. -

Hi there, I have MacBook Air (Mid 2012) with OSX 10.8.2. I want to update to latest OSX but it is saying that I need to first install MBA Flash Firmware Update 1.1. When I try to install this firmware, I am told I should have OSX 10.8.3, Each one asking other to update first, can some one help me in this regard ?
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. -
How Can One Run Only In The System Administrator ( ie root ) ?
Upon creating a System Administrator ( ie root ) in Command + R , of course after Clean Installing OS X ML with my own specific Apple Verified Account ,
i have the Log In screen from a startup , either Safe Boot or a Boot , and i have my own specifc Apple Verified Account , plus the Other... ,
which the Other... of course is the System Administrator ( ie root ) .
How Can One Run Only In The System Administrator ( ie root ) ?
Is there a way in Terminal with sudo su to make it work ?
Shall i just always log in with Other... System Administrator ( ie root ) , and just forget the my own specific Apple Verified Account ?As of EHP3, you could still install some EHP components. On an ERP 6.00, you could just push SAP_APP to 6.03 and move on. Now if you want another component in your system with an EHP4 version, you can't have some components at EHP3 and some at EHP4. You would install EHP4 for the new component you desire updated and part of the work will be to also update SAP_APP to 6.04.
EHP4 is an UPGRADE process, with shadow instance & all the joy of an upgrade process. You can either run ressource minimized or downtime minimized. In resource minimized, the shadow instance runs on the same server as the main instance. Downtime minimized allow to run the shadow instance on a separate / new server. Anyway you go, you will always have a "Downtime Phase" when you bring back the updated components from the shadow instance toward the real production one.
As with any UPGRADE project, the benefits of installing EHP4 for your business has to weighted against the downtime cost.
Our tests so far on small systems (few data, few users, 120GB database) show ~3 days process from EHP3 to EHP4 (all components) with a downtime phase of about 22 hours using the "resource minimized" path, i.e. shadow & main instance on the same server (4 CPUs, 16GB RAM). Until you give a try at your Sandbox or DEV systems, you won't have realistic figures for your environment.
