Cod 4 patch 1.7

Hi,
I wanted to know how to install the 1.7 patch ? Do I simply install the .dmg file ? Do I have to install a previous patch ?
Sincerely

I'd suggest you take this question to a Call of Duty forum somewhere. This (Apple's Getting Online and Networking forum) is definitely not the right forum. Not only do way off-topic posts like these annoy people by increasing "noise" on the forum, you also aren't reaching the ideal audience most suited to answer the question.

  • Practices for maintaining source code patches for branch of OSS project?

There is this open source project I use and modify for my personal, private use...
I would like some best-practice/practical experience suggestions on methodology/tools to maintain a growing number of source code patches I have created for said software. (FYI It is generally not mandatory that I upgrade to new version of the software when it comes out. Sometimes I will use the version I have for several versions before getting the new one, and re-implementing my changes. And sometimes I don't even implement the changes; I just run it vanilla.)
Currently, I download the latest code from SVN, make my changes to the original code files, and keep track of my changes in a text file, which I then dutifully reference to re-create them when I feel like re-synching with the official version. What I would like to have instead is a separate base of code that contains just my modifications, and somehow include/import it as painlessly as possible whenever I get a new version of the official code from SVN.
What's the best way to go about it? That's why I'm here.
I realize these situations rarely, if ever, work out perfectly, and I can deal with that. I just want to improve on how things are, now, in anticipation of where I can see them going!
I have some ideas about how to implement this, but they are of the "naive" variety and I think any tips I could get on method or tools to use would go far. I mean ... is it as simple as declaring new versions of affected methods in my patch code and marking them "overrides"? Also, probably a dumb question but will SVN that will help me do this?
Thanks for reading, and any response.
PS - Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I am just looking for general, tip-of-the-iceberg type tips/links, so I figured folks could drop a quick answer here. TY!

The patch program on *nix or Cygwin does exactly what you want, and you can create the patchfile using either Subversion or CVS (and any other source control system that provides a diff).
Here's the article that I always turn to to create a CVS Patch (I have to relearn patching every time I do it): https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Creating_a_patch
And here's the equivalent from the Subversion FAQ: http://subversion.tigris.org/faq.html#patch
When I've worked for companies that did local patches, we kept a separate source-control repository/module that held our patches for the various OS libraries that we used. When we'd upgrade, we'd apply the patches and verify they made sense (if you have a lot of patchfiles, this can be a royal pain). And most important, once we had a patched upgrade, we generated a new patchfile from it (because, again, patchfiles become obsolete, and trying to apply a patch from several versions back can sometimes be impossible).
And of course we submitted any bugfixes back to the projects...

  • Preventing byte code patching.

I am building a service for distribution and would like to give a limited version for free. How do I make it difficult from patching the code to overcome the limits?
An example of a limit would be no more than 2 concurrent users. Or poping up a message after a timeout.
Any ideas or pointers would be appreciated.

  • Spry Menu code patch for IE browser?

Does anyone remember the Adobe e-blast with the coding patch that was suppose to fix spry menu issues with IE browser? Now that I need it, I can not find it anywhere.

    Hi PBSOakley,
You've  posted your question in a forum for BrowserLab, a web service for  cross-browser testing of web pages. I think you'll have much better luck  if you repost your question in the Spry forums here:http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/spry
    Hope this helps,

  • Call of DUty and COD:UO not even downloading on intel

Ok, so call of duty has been a problem since i just got my new computer. at first I heard to not even install it because it just wouldn't work. then i read that someone had installed it. so i tried. I put in the call of Duty CD. I install....okay.. now I go to install the COD patch 1.5. it stops installing immediately... i try again...same. SO i then decide to start over but skip the patch till later and go straight to installing the COD:UO disk. same thing, the CD stops spinning and the download stops immediately. what is going on here. I am about to toss my computer out the window. and before anyone tells me to clean the Disk...I actually burned New Disk so there is no blemishes at all. I knew the Intel switch felt wrong.. mac owner since Apple IIc......HELP!!

  • Dates in JSP page

I have some dates fields on JSP page I want to store data in mysql databse. Can someone tell me how I can format dates as I do for other data types in servlet before I send data to add in databse: such as
    For int type data:
    String paymentID = request.getParameter("PaymentID")
I format it like this for class Payment.
    Payment newPayment(int.parseInt(paymentID)
how do i work with date fields this is what I Am trying to do:
    Code patches....
    import java.text.DateFormat;\import java.text.ParseException;
    public date date1;
    try
          date1= format.parse(paymentStartDate);
    catch(ParseException pe)
    System.out.println("Problem found");
....I do not get any error but it leaves date fields empty because date1 formatting never goes to try... Always say "Problem found on console"
    Any help?

I just realized I should post the whole file... here is code of the servlet that recieved dates from JSP and process it.

  • AP check sorting issue

    Hi All,
We need to sort check printing depending on the payroll area. The scenario below present the clear picture of our requirement.
Say for eg, we have three payroll area
    P1
    P2
    P3
Now if i payroll area is  P1 then the check
should be printed based on sort criteria decided for payroll P1, as show below. similarly
the sort criteria for P2 and P3 are different from each other.
    1. If payroll area is P1 then sorting should be done on location, last name, first name.
    2. If payroll area is P2 then sorting should be done on last name, middle name, first name
    3. If payroll area is P3 then sorting should be done on location , last name, middle name, first name.
should this be done by modifying the SAP std check printing program or is there  any other way like some user exit...
    Regards,
    Pankaj Singh

    Hi pankaj,
    1. I don't know whether there is user-exit
      for this program.
    2. Even if there is one,
      it won't provide the functionality u won't.
3 Don't Modify the SAP Standard Code.
    4. Instead copy the program to Y/Z
       and then understnd the code
and accordingly write your own code (patch)
      for sorting puprose.
    regards,
    amit m.

  • SP4 and Form Based Authentication

  • Lang bash

    Hi guys,
I've got a problem with this "lang-bash". Actually I'm trying to install GNU gettext so I successfully did -configure- but no the same for -make-. At this stage I tried a -make check- and I found just one failed test that is:
    FAIL: lang-bash
while I can see for example PASS for lang-c, lang-sh and so on.
Any ideas? What is lang-bash and what the problem could be?
    Thanks very much in advance!

    simone83 wrote:
I know it's not your fault but could you be more clear?
You were running the "check" phase of that project's make script. That verifies that the software was built correctly and will function as you expect. It failed on only one test. That is probably because the default version of bash on MacOS X is rather old. In all likelihood, anything you did with gettext and bash would work perfectly. Even though "make check" fails, you can safely do "sudo make install" without concern.
It isn't common for open-source packages to have such verification scripts. For those that do, getting 100% pass is very rare. There are just too many different combinations of system installations.
I'm very sorry, it's just because I'm not very familiar with this kind of things.
That's fine. I would encourage you to continue what you have been doing so that you can learn more about the system. I always discourage people from using those "ports" packages like MacPorts and Fink. They are useful in some specific circumstances, such as when you are using an obscure tool that has 160 dependences that you don't want to bother building. If you aren't familiar with how UNIX works and/or want to learn more, then these ports packages are downright dangerous. At best, they will prevent you from learning how to build software on your own and force you to become dependent on the port package. At worst, they will make changes to your system that you don't understand and, when something goes wrong, you can't fix because you never learned how.
Bash is a particularly good example. A couple of months ago someone posted a question about why Bash wasn't working the way they expected. The cause was the old MacOS X version of Bash and the old, funky MacOS X filesystem. I downloaded and built a newer bash in, literally, 2 minutes and verified that the bug no longer existed in the new version. The original poster, however, tried using Bash from MacPorts and still had the bug. Read the whole sorry tale if you can stomach it: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12523273&#12523273
The moral of the story is that, yes - either MacPorts or Fink will take care of fetching the code, patching it, compiling, and keeping track of dependencies. Sometimes that is a good thing, and sometimes not. I can assure you that very, very few of these open-source packages were designed for people who don't know how the process works underneath. If you want to use them to manage dependences and save time and are confident you understand shells, environment variables, and dynamic libraries, then by all means do so.

  • Latest xkeyboard-config prevents ctrl-alt-backspace from killing X

well, as I wrote in the topic latest xkeyboard-config (1.6-1) is preventing ctrl-alt-backspace combination from killing X.  I have DonZap option set to false in my xorg.conf. I don't know if it should be like that. Is it a bug? If not, is it any workaround to make it work again?

    karol wrote:@whoops
How did you get that magic spell? RTFM or sth else?
I searched for stuff in google, opened a lot of tabs and somewhere in between there was a site about some patch that said something like "this patch removes the ctrl+alt+backspace keyboard shortcut in xorg - to reenable it, you have to type...".
So I pasted it into a terminal, hit strg+alt+backspace and it worked. Which is why I don't know, where I found that Information.
Might have been an ubuntu patch... maybe I should have mentioned that (in case someone added an ubuntu patch to xorg recently to make it "safer" and this is the result...?). edit: no, it wasn't - just found the ubuntu page I was on, and the information isn't from there. But it was on a patch site. Mostly plain text, code, patch info & lots of stuff I didn't understand.

  • Latent OS Bugs in iPad OS 3.2?  - Crash/Reboot with Search & Photo Scroll

I now have an issue with 'Search iPad' causing a crash & reboot on my ipad. It will also crash/reboot when scrolling through my Photos. What I have found is that once you install somewhere between 850-900 Apps that this starts failing and is first letter search term sensitive. (i.e. So far I found the key first letter to search which seems to provoke the crash is: F, P, S. Other search terms starting with other letters may work.) The Photo Scroll crash/reboot I have not tried to debug yet but I only have 383 photos loaded right now.
Bottom line it looks like the same indexing bug in the iPhone OS 3.1.2 is also latent in in the iPad OS 3.2(7B367). Hopefully this, as well as the wifi & intermittent video playback crash problem will be fixed soon.
Is there a beta test code patch/fix for this?

    Hey, all -
Having the same problem, but there's a workaround. I know everybody wants an official fix, but you also probably want to see your photos in the meantime regardless.
Note that I don't know what to do about the problem with searching when you have 800+ apps installed. I didn't even think you could install that many. As far as I know, then, this only works for Photos (better than nothing, right?).
Here's what you do - it's actually really simple...
    1. Instead of scrolling down through your photos, select a photo - any photo - without scrolling.
    2. When the photo is loaded, look at the bottom of the screen. There should be what looks Ike a series of little boxes. These little boxes are your friend.
    3. Touch and drag along the strip of boxes. You'll notice that they're actually the universe's smallest thumbnails, and that they expand when you touch and drag (not unlike the OS X dock when you mouse over icons and they "magnify").
    4. Scroll along until you're getting to the photos you want to see. Then just let go. The Photo app will take you to that photo. Even if it's a photo you couldn't reach by scrolling down in the traditional fashion, you'll still be able to get to it.
    5. If you want to look at other "nearby" photos, you can use that thumbnail strip along the bottom again, OR you can just tap the back button to return to the album. Photos will return to the usual thumbnail view (the one that's crashing for some of us), but it will drop you off in the vicinity of the photo you just looked at. For example, if you followed the steps above and dragged your finger all the way to the right to load the last photo in your album, then the back button will return you to the normal thumbnail view, but you'll be looking at the last page of photos in your album.
I hope that makes sense. If it doesn't, then just try the first four steps. It'll make sense to you after that.
I've been able to view all my photos since learning this little trick.
I've been meaning to plug my iPad in and use the app development tools to look at diagnostic information that'd help me understand why it's crashing. If I get around to it, I'll come back and post what I find. My guess is that, if you have enough photos, and if you're scrolling fast enough, the Photos app is using a lot of resources to load thumbnails without unloading the ones that have already scrolled off the screen. In other words, I think that quickly scrolling through a large library leads to the Photos app using too much memory, forcing a reboot (apps are supposed to be designed to respond to system warnings about low memory - if they don't respond to the warnings and continue to use up system resources, the system will sometimes reboot itself).
    Hope this helps

    Don't Claim that you've found a bug:
When you are having problems with a piece of software, don't claim you have found a bug unless you are very, very sure of your ground. Hint: unless you can provide a source-code patch that fixes the problem, or a regression test against a previous version that demonstrates incorrect behavior, you are probably not sure enough. This applies to webpages and documentation, too; if you have found a documentation bug, you should supply replacement text and which pages it should go on.
Remember, there are many other users that are not experiencing your problem. Otherwise you would have learned about it while reading the documentation and searching the Web (you did do that before complaining, didn't you?). This means that very probably it is you who are doing something wrong, not the software.
The people who wrote the software work very hard to make it work as well as possible. If you claim you have found a bug, you'll be impugning their competence, which may offend some of them even if you are correct. It's especially undiplomatic to yell bug in the Subject line.
When asking your question, it is best to write as though you assume you are doing something wrong, even if you are privately pretty sure you have found an actual bug. If there really is a bug, you will hear about it in the answer. Play it so the maintainers will want to apologize to you if the bug is real, rather than so that you will owe them an apology if you have messed up.

  • Custom specifics

    Hi,
can we developpe some programmes (customer specifiques) and apply them like the Oracle Patches with drv extensions ? Is it a usule practice ? If not any document that oracle does not support that ?
    Many thanks.

You can manage to have your own custom code/patch for your custom modules as long as you do not touch Oracle Apps modules since it is not supported.

Yes hiddu u can this by that code patch
    do this
      data: dd(2) type c ,
            mm(2) type c ,
            yy(4) type c .
      dd = P_DATE+6(2).
      mm = p_date+4(2).
      yy = p_date+0(4).
      select single ltx
             into p_output
             from t247
             where SPRAS = sy-langu
                   and mnr = mm.
till here u finshed splitting dates and extracted your month text
Now u simply have to concatenate the way u want
continue those code lines with these statements
    concatenate wa_output
dd into wa_output separated by space.
      concatenate wa_output
                   into wa_output .
      concatenate wa_output
yy into wa_output separated by space.
This is how i do in my hr reports and it work fine. this will exactly give u that format
P_date what i used there u declare this way
    data: p_date type pa0001-begda,
            wa_output type char(25).
    reward points if its useful
