Code hinting with array of elements

I am having an issue where I can get code hinting on the entire array, but not if a I specify an individual element.
Example
var dataFields = new Array();
var allElems = document.getElementsByTagName("*");
for (var i = 0; i < allElems.length ; i++) {
        if (allElems[i].className == "classNameofElementIWant") dataFields.push(allElems[i]);
Above is what I use to get an array populated with a specific element I want to work with.
I can then get code hinting on dataFields.
but no code hinting on dataFields[1].
Obviously this is because the array doesn't have any elements in it until run time after it runs the above code.
My question:
Is there a way to tell code hinting to display using an array without the [] subscript specified when it can see that an array has no elements?

    Hello,
    I am working with Flex Builder and it has a nice code completion and code hint option in it.
    If i use the Tweener class you get code hinting of an object.
    Example  : Tweener.addTween( { x:100, time:1, transition: "easeOutQuad"} );
    Now within the brackets (object) you also get code hinting. I was wondering how to do this too?
    Do i need to make a new public object?
    public var myObj:Object = new Object();
    public var myObj.time = 4;
    public var myObj.xPos = 20;
    MyCustomClass.customFunction( { ..the myObj properties..   });

    That is very nice! And i understand now how it works. The only thing i was wondering is, that
    you can see what to enter with param for a function. But not within an object.
    For example the caurina tweener.
    Tweener.addTween( yourmovie, { x:100, there is no hinting or knowing what properties can be set here ..... } );
    function doSomething(argument1:Boolean = true,  myNumber:Number  = 24):void {
    doSomething( ..in here you get always code hinting because it are params,  { but not in an object ? } );

  • How to make 1D Array but with only one element filled in Real Time

    Hi folks,
    here I am with another question. I want to implement an prediction discrete state space observer which is going to run on a CRIO real time target. I am going to do it just like in the example which comes with LV.
    I have some questions regarding the input and outputs which in the example those are "dummy".
    My model is a SISO model, but the function "Construct SS model" returns parameters (A,B,C,D Matrices) as 2D arrays, so once you connect the cluster model into the Discrete Observer model, it takes y and u as 1D arrays despite of the fact that there is a SISO model.
    I realized that the function I am using in the simulations, uses 1D arrays but with only one element filled:
    Does anyone knows how to implement such 1D arrays in Real Time? I guess the way to do it is preallocating one array of zeros of size 1, and then recirculating it through some SR, and replacing the element with my real input and output, but at the dummy.vi, they are using a simple "build array"
    function.

    Ok, I did it that way. But I am facing another problem right now...
    At some point the Discrete Observer return a NAN array, you will see the code in the code snippet?
    I get rid of that component by component, but the observer gets "stuck" in it. So my Control law is zero... but the state stimate is NAN.
    Also I am attaching the VI.
    I do not know why, since in the simulation program all runs well. any thoughts? Maybe the internal numeric precision of the State Space Model?

    I have a problem with in place element structure. I want index a waveform array (16 elements) and when i execute or save that labview close....
    I dont have problem with waveform array 15 elements or less, but i need index 16 elements...

    I give you my code but it work because i used a waveform array with only 15 elements. I can't save or execute with 16 elements...

  • VBScript editor with Intellisense/Code Hinting support for Adobe App

    I am looking for some tool to write my InDesign VBScript files in. I would really like to know if there is any which support Intellisense/Code hinting for Adobe programs (InDesign especialy). Do you have anything to recommend?
    I am quite good at hacking my computer, so no registry change etc. is a problem for me, I just can not find any. I already tried PrimalScript 2009 but it doesn not work.
    What I need is that in following block of code
    Set myInDesign = CreateObject("InDesign.Application.CS4")
    Set myDialog = myInDesign.Dialogs.Add
    I will get list of all methods/properties after I write the dot after "myInDesign" in second line. But it never worked. I even tried to put "InDesign.Application.CS4/C:\ProgramData\Adobe\InDesign\Version 6.0\cs_CZ\Scripting Support\6.0\Resources for Visual Basic.tlb" line into Options>Text editor>Type libraries.
    I am using Windows Vista SP1 and I have Adobe Creative Suite CS4 installed (upgrade from CS3 which was upgraded from CS2)

    As I have said, I waited for next service release, which is as of now PrimalScript 2009 version 5.0.614 and I did some testing with it.
    Results:
    WinXP EN Professional
    - Just pointing PrimalScript 2009 to typelib, no creative suite installed, working
    - Installed Creative Suite CS3 Czech (trial mode) - Working, no need to setup anything
    - Installed Creative Suite CS3 + CS4 Czech (trial mode) - Need to point PrimalScript 2009 to correct typelib, then 100% working
    Windows Vista SP1 Ultimate EN (in trial/not activated mode)
    - Just pointing PrimalScript 2009 to typelib, no creative suite installed, working
    - Installed Creative Suite CS3 Czech (trial mode) - Need to point PrimalScript 2009 to correct typelib, then 100% working
    - Installed Creative Suite CS3 + CS4 Czech (trial mode) - Need to point PrimalScript 2009 to correct typelib, then 100% working
    Windows 7
    I am not planning to use Win7 in near future, so I did not not run any test on it.
    Windows Vista SP1 Home Premium Slovak (fully activated)
    - Installed Creative Suite CS3 + CS4 Czech (full mode) - Not working. This is my main machine. It is Creative Suite CS2 upgraded to CS3 then CS4 (it is running for years without reinstall). I use CS3/CS4 side by side for some older projects. There are still references to CS2 in registry. I tried pointing PrimalScript 2009 to correct typelib, but to no avail. My conclussion is that there is someting messed with its config or registry, but I am pretty sure it would run after complete system reinstall.
    Both WinXP EN Pro and Vista SP1 Ultimate EN were clean install into MS Virtual PC 2007, with only Creative Suite and PrimalScript 2009 5.0.614 installed into each machine so I made sure there are no other issues involved.
    As I spend 80% of my time with developement of websites and scripting of MS Office/Creative Suite, I have some virtual machines set up for testing purposes. I will use one of them for development in PrimalScript and move it to main (real) Windows Vista Home Premium Slovak installed once I will decide to completely reinstall it. The need for seting up the typelibray link is no deal for me, as it is working as expected then, and I expect a lot ;-)
    So problem solved, I found o program I will use. There may be others which do better or are cheaper (but I do not know about any) but $299 is not a big issue when I get what I want.
    P.S.: The solution with making VBScript code with VBA declaration (using Dim) is not a solution I like, as I would need to comment it out everytime I run/edit  the script and it would be pain in the *** while debugging it as i would need to do lot of comment/uncomment cycles and i can use my ime better then doing the monkey work as some fo the scripts I write are quite huge and I prefer to build them incrementaly and test/debug a lot.

    That doesn't help the user with the serial code though.

  • I'm using a 1D Arrary with 27 different elements and would like to send those data over UDP Write and UDP Read functions.

    I'm using a 1D array with 27 different elements. I would like to transfer that data over a UDP connection, and read it back by using UDP connections.
    But I would like to read 3 elements at a time (On read side) and send those to 9 different ports.
    Note: the data will go to only one PC with one Network Address)
    * 1st elements (0,1,2) and send to port #XXX to see those 1st 3 elements.
    * continue until the elements reaches up to 27
    This is what I have done but I'm finding myself in pitfalls...
    Send side:
    I'm using a UDP Open connection on send side to send my data. So with selected a Source Port, I have created a UDP Op
    en connection. I�m using only one source port to send all the data across the channel. I would like to read 1st 3 elements and send those data across with an assigned Destination port. I would like to do that for 9 times b/c there are 27 elements in the array. So I�m using a For Loop and setting N count to 9. So I�m not getting any errors when I execute and no answer on the other side at all.
    Read side:
    I�m using a UDP Open connection to read in the data with port #. I�m using while loop to with Boolean inside by making a true all the time. Inside that While loop, I�m using For Loop to read the 3 elements data a time and send to a right port address. (As start out I was just trying to see if it works for only one port).

    You are not getting any errors because UDP is a connectionless protocol. It does not care if anyone receives it. Your example will work fine with the following considerations.
    (1) Don't use the generic broadcast address (255.255.255.255).
    (2) You are listening on port 30000. So why are you sending to port 1502, nobody will receive anything there.
    The destination port of the outgoing connection must match the server port of the listener. (The source port is irrelevant, set ot to zero and the system will use a free ephemeral port).
    (3) On the receiving side, you are not indexing on the received string, thus you only retain the last received element. Then you place the indicator outside the while loop where it never gets updated. :-(
    (4) Do yourself a favor and don't micromanage how the data is sent across. Just take the entire array, flatten it to string, send it across, receive it, unflatten back to array, and get on with the task.
    (You can do the same with any kind of data).
    I have modified your VI with some reasonable default values (destination IP = 127.0.0.1 (localhost)), thus you can run both on the same PC for testing "as is". Just run the "read" first, then every time you run "send", new data will be received.

  • Big probelm dealing with arrays to read from instrument

    Hi All,
    I have been struggling with this issue for weeks now and hope someone from this forum can help me out. I am trying to read data from a phmeter via the rs232 of my computer. I am reading using the  basic VISA read and write code and have configured my Serial configuration to terminate read at a Line Feed(\n). I am using the code provided in my attachement to parse the data to read only the ph number using the string functions search and replace, etc.
    As the phnumber I get displays only for a fraction of a second (when my instrument tranmits data ie every 5 seconds) using just this string function, I have added a case statement to look for strings>0 to display the data (ph number) till the next update. I have shown this in my snippet too. This works fine but I am getting a bunch of 0's on the output array when my case is false. 
    I have inialized the array with dimension size 0 too and then used the build array function to append all the new data to my existing array using a while loop with shift registers, but the appended array I get has every ph number output with 7 other 0's. I guess the build array function allows 8 element arrays to be formed with every transmision, or maybe the way I am parsing the data is incorrect. I am pretty new to Labview so don't know what I am doing wrong.
    Conversely, in order to work around this issue I have tried adding 8 elements of my appended array at a time to see if I can generate one real ph number with every transmission, but don' know how to do this either. I need to get an array of elements with all the different non-zero ph numbers to do a running average and min/max function but have contacted many people who could not help me come up with a suitable solution to this problem.
    I am looking forward to all suggestions to make my code work best. I'm sorry I could not attach the entire code as its proprietary information.

    Thanks for your suggestions Smercurio and Dennis Knight. How do I configure the VISA read to read only when data is available ie being sent by my instrument? I was looking into the Read Status function but I thought that is for GPIB only. Is there any other case statement I can write to do this efficiently? 
    Please see the cleaned up version of my code in the attachment. I need to average samples (MEAN)collected every minute, as well as check the min and max values received per minute. Currently the mean includes all the 0 elements I am getting in my array which is why I am trying to get rid of them.
    Also with the append array function which was suggested to me by an NI engineer, my ph number in the case statement updates after a significant time lag. This is the other issue I am fighting with. Initially I was not using the appended array as I did not have a need to do the averaging and my code was updating pretty fast.
    In the event that the array being put out has the seven 0's by nature, is there a way to add up 8 elements of the appeneded array at a time (since most are 0's) and build another array again. I know this is unnecessary processing if I can just configure the read to read with every data transmission.

    I have 2 constants array put in main while loop ( array1{6,6}; array2{4,4} ). Those arrays will be come the input data for st in the small while loop inside.
    The input data look like : [6,6],[4,4],[6,6],[4,4]...... I have to put input data to result array[8]. The method is:

    Frankly, I don't understand your problem description or your VI.
    In the description, the output array has a fixed size of 8 elements, is this correct? In this case you should initialize an array of 8 elements and do all operations "in place". I don't udnerstand the purpose of all the other code.
    There are a lof of things that don't make any sense at all.
    The second largest loop has no purpose, because it iterates only once per call
    Sometimes you are concatenating an empty array to an existing array. This makes no difference.
    Why is some of your data EXT representation???
    What's up with complicated constructs such as that small loop shown in the picture. I show a somewhat simpler alternative.
    Anyway, I have a hard time understanding your description. What should happen at the end? Do you have a link to a website that describes the algorithm? Does the algorithm have a name?

  • Exclude inherited properties and functions from code hinting

    Since, by design, the [Exclude] metatag works only with MXML code hinting, I was wondering if there is any other way of achieving this. For my reasoning why I consider this feature a necessity please consult my bug report on jira.
    Anyway, coming back to the problem at hand, I have come up with two possible ways of achieving this:
    1. Use the [Deprecated] metatag and change an option in the Flash Builder, to hide Deprecated functions from the code hinting. The problem is, there is no such option!
    2. Install a plugin which adds a new ASDoc tag (let's name it @exclude) which simply speaking removes all functions/properties which have @exclude in their asdoc from code hinting. But again, I have found no such plugin and I don't have necessary skills to accomplish this task.
    3. A mix of both - plugin which adds an option to hide deprecated elements from the code hinting. Probably the easiest to develop but still, I haven't managed to find such plugin anywhere and I wouldn't know how to even start looking for information to write it.
    If you know how this could be accomplished (without resorting to, for example, manipulating the projects's design by using Interfaces) I'd love to hear them.

    Well yes of course. But I am trying to make everything available to the same package. Like a namespace. But I want to only expose the base class for instantiation by third party developers.
    For instance I have a base class in a SWC named SomethingClass. SomethingClass utilized SomethingClassB, SomethingClassC and SomethingClassD classes and there need to be public methods in between them.
    During code completion/code hinting I would like to stop SomethingClassB, SomethingClassC and SomethingClassD from even showing up in that list.
    The whole class. Not just some methods or variables.

    I've been using Dreamweaver to create php based websites with the popular Zend Framework 1.  I'm now trying to integrate Dreamweaver with ZF2 and the Dreamweaver is giving me errors for lies such as:
    $loader = new Zend\Loader\StandardAutoloader(array('autoregister_zf' => true));
    and
    use Zend\Session\Container;
    even though the lines are correct.  Do I have to do anything special in Dreamweaver so that it recognizes these statements as not being errors?

    Hi!
    I setup Flash Professional CS5.5 and FB4.5 to work together. I just followed this tutorial: http://www.adobe.com/content/dotcom/en/devnet/flash-builder/articles/sharing-projects-flas hbuilder-flash.html and almost all looks good, but unfortunately working in Flash Builder adding new Classes I do not have default package Classes accessible. This way I can not even declare Sprite, Array class and so on. In code hints I only gets my current package classes.
    I set the .fla project inside Flash CS5.5 with some folders as the package for my classes. It is for examle:
    com.myDomain.testProject where DocClass exists. By adding this path as the document for FlashCS5.5 all works great, I can easily run, debug movie in the Flash environment.
    Setting this project by 'Import'->'FlashBuilder-FlashBuilderProject'->'ProjectFolder' pointing to the .fla file it seems that the thing goes well. The project is set and even I had some problems with Document Class's name (it seems that Flash Builder need to have Document Class with the same name as the .fla flie) and renaming it I can run or debug it and it works.
    But if I try to add new class to the directory I end up with no code hints, and in fact no default package classes support. That means I get errors trying to create instance of any common class etc. In code hints I am only getting my package hints (look picture)
    Maybe I misunderstand of some package basics and did something wrong, but generally I don't want to put all my classes to the .fla location but to sort them up in specific folders cause I assume that the project is quite large.
    If you can help me, thanks in advance. You know messing up with the code is a part of the programmer nature, and when one finds the answer he feels like a king. When to deal with environments like that, there is never joy and hapiness, but in most occasions couple uncensural words in the end, and a glimpse on the watch - agrrrhh I lost so much time :/

  • An issue with arrays

    I am trying to write an applet which accepts five integers from the user, stores them in an array and then outputs them to a JTextArea. That bit is fine. But I also need to write it so that if the user enters two identical integers then it does not output the duplicate. (This is an exercise from Deitel & Deitel - yes, I'm a beginner! And I am aware that it mixes awt with swing...but that's what the book asks for).
    This is what I have written so far:

    This works, but, of course, the applet stops outputting integers as soon as it gets to array != array[1] because, of course, array[1] will always be equal to array[1].
    I am trying to find a way to compare the integer with every elements in the array apart from the integer itself.
    I found a way to compare each integer with the integer before it, in the array. And that worked - but it's not exactly what I need.
    Can anybody point me in the right direction?

    Thank you all for your help. I decided to use a method to sort the array as I'm still not familiar with HashMap or LinkedHashSet. I'll go and read up on them now...
    In the meantime, here's my code. I have a question - I spent a while playing around with the code but I found that my output always contained only 4 elements when, in fact, the array contained 5 (this was verified by outputting the contents of the array to the screen using System.out.println). I solved this by initializing the array with 6 elements instead of 5. There is now a 'wasted' zero at the end which does not show up in the output.
    How could I do this with a 5-elements array? I'm sure the answer is staring me in the face, but I can't seem to find it!
