Coherence 3.6 and ECHO Service port (Port 7)

We are currently upgrading to Coherence 3.6 from 3.5. We have 2 WKA nodes running behind a firewall (on a virtual appliance cluster). WKA ports are already opened up in firewall.
In addition to this, we had to open up Port 7 (Used for ECHO Service) for a client node running on different machine to join the cluster.
Coherence 3.5 did not have this requirement.
Client nodes on the same virtual appliance cluster were able to join the coherence cluster even when Port 7 was blocked.
Could you tell us how Port 7 is used by Coherence ? Is it mandatory to open up this port for proper cluster formation? If yes, do we need to open it up for both TCP and UDP traffic?
Following is the error message that we get at the client node, when Port 7 is not open...

I have one more followup question on this. If a node is kicked out from the cluster due to ping timeout, can we expect this node to transparently join back the cluster later?
Is an external intervention required to bring this node back into the cluster?
We have an event-service which is part of coherence cluster. This service is listening for Cache events from Coherence. Once it receives cache events, it does some operation on Coherence.
Now what is happening is, this service is getting kicked out of the cluster due to ping-timeout. Since it is not part of cluster it does not receive any cache events. But, after this, it never joins back the cluster. Can we expect this service to join back into the cluster at a later point of time. The point that i want to highlight is, once this node is kicked out of cluster, it is not invoking any of the Coherence API methods. Will this node try to join back in this case?
We are still on 3.6.0 and will be upgrading to 3.6.0.1 soon. We know that the chances of ping time out will reduce after this upgrade.

Unable to close open and blocked web server ports

I have been running the sun webserver 6.1 as a test development environment on my local pc (Windows 2000) at work. The machine crashed while the web server was running, and while the server instance stopped, the ports being used are still open and apparently, still being used. Restarting my machine does not solve the problem.
Using netstat (through cygwin - i am familiar with linux, and have been using cygwin as the easiest way to do many things with the web server) I can see that the ports are indeed being "used", however i cannot find any running processes (through the top or ps command or the task list) associated with the open ports. Also attempts to start the server again fail, and the server complains that the ports are currently being used.
In order to continue to develop I created a new domain using a different set of ports. Since then, I have (in zealous cleanup) removed the domain that was using those ports, and in attempting to setup a different webserver encountered the open ports.
I need/wish to stop the running processes and close the open ports. Any ideas?

There are no such processes running in either the task manager or services.
I do not believe that the domain/web server is running, since the domain instance has since been removed.
However, the ports seems to be stuck on being "used".

I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/

How to run Indesign CS3 as a Service with Port number

Hello all,
I would like to run the InDesign CS3 Server as a service on Windows. It seems that after installing the Server it automatically installs as a service. But where can I assign the port number. If under Services properties of InDesign Server under Parameters I mention -port 1050 on Ok button it removes the parameter information.
I am doing right or is there some other way to start the Server as Service with Port number.

I've installed the Snap-In and configured one instance. Maybe it's worth mentioning that there are some instances running at the same time, which have been started using the console. Hope that's not interfering. However, the MMC-configured instance uses a different port.
I tried to start the service with a huge range of users having all imaginable privileges. The common way of using either "LocalService" or the Local System Account (which has admin rights for me) doesn't do the job.

Setting the Tools Service ssl port

Following this document (link below), and in the section in which they talk about changing the tools service ssl port. It says you want to change it in two places, but only describes how to do that in one of them. The change to server.xml is explained, but not the change to webstudio.properties
Why do I need an ssl port? Do I need this change?
I can't use the default port(s) because I am sharing a server and don't want to worry about some one else taking the port. (I will also look into redefining localhost as that is the best solution for that problem.)

Sometimes you have to reset the SMC two or three times for it to work, don't know why. I've seen that error message before and 100% of the time it was fixed with an SMC reset. I suppose it's possible that your keyboard or mouse IS drawing too much power, do you have access to another you could try?

Really strange problem you have there. I have a few questions though.
Please try again and try to make the phone as a new without restoringen with you iCloud-data or backup-data from iTunes. Maybe it is something wrong with the data (strange).

It isn't the fw in Network you want o use or look at, that's for something completely different.
My first suspect is the Power Adapter on the LaCie has gone.
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware>Firewire, what is listed there?
Reset the Firewire bus
If your Firewire or USB isn't recognizing any device. A solution which has worked for some whose hard drive became invisible in 10.4 was simply to follow these four steps to reset the Firewire/USB bus:
1. Shut the machine down.
2. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any firewire/USB drive or devices.
3. leave it for 10 minutes.
4. Connect back up and reboot.
