Coldfusion Administrator on Amazon EBS volumes

I created 3 instances of a Coldfusion 9 Standard Amazon EC2 Win2k8 AMI, each with its own EBS volume.  Let's call them machines A, B & C
When I make a CF Admin update on machine A, all three servers look as if they update simultaneously.
Somehow the other two are pointing to the administrator for machine A even though I am accessing via localhost or the IP address on the desktop of each machine.
I looked at neo-runtime.xml in the CF {root}\lib  and indeed machines B & C are not being updated.
How canI get the CF Administrator to point to the local machine rather than the first AMI from which the rest were created?

There can be any number of possible explanations for the confusion of things.
First, what is the URL you’re using to launch the CF admin (ip/domain and port)? And where are you launching the browser? On the server itself? From your desktop? And if you are specifying no port (which assumes 80), what web server is fronting the CF instances on the servers?

  • How can I hide the version of ColdFusion showing in COldFusion Administrator

    How can I hide the version of coldfusion being shown from the coldfusion administrator login page? Right now I have the Version: 6,1,0,83762 showing.

    For security reasons.
    If there are known vulnerabilities with a specific version of a software release, you don't want to have someone who is scanning to be able to pull that information and then be able to try known attacks that will increase their chances of compromising your site/application.

  • Coldfusion service hangs when logging into coldfusion administrator

    Hi,
    After changing the maximum number of connections to 1, I can
    no longer enter the coldfusion administrator.
    He allows me to enter the password, and then continues, but
    after showing only the top frame on the left, the coldfusion
    service hangs.
    I use coldfusion mx 6.1 on windows 2003 server and IIS.
    Kind regards,
    Thomas

    If you mean the "Maximum number of simultaneous requests",
    this setting can be changed by making an edit to jrun.xml found in
    \CFusionMX\runtime\servers\default\SERVER-INF\.
    The argument is:<attribute
    name="activeHandlerThreads">8</attribute> in the
    ProxyService section.
    Yours should show <attribute
    name="activeHandlerThreads">1</attribute>.
    Be sure to make a backup copy of the jrun.xml file before
    making any edits.
    You will need to restart ColdFusion after the change.

  • ColdFusion Administrator v.9 does not open in browser, gives error 500

    I am hoping someone can help me, I have been working on and off on this problem for over a year with no luck.
    In February 2013 I patched ColdFusion 9 with the hotfix APSB13-03, both on my production and development servers.  Everything went perfect on the development server but production had some issues, I can't recall anymore exactly what happened but I was able to get it to the point that everything worked; meaning that all our cf webpages are served up correctly both inside and outside our organization.  The only standing problem is that the ColdFusion Administrator will not load.  Going to http://localhost/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm returns
    According to my application.log here are a few sample error messages.  They are always the same except for the jrpp #.
    "Error","jrpp-47","05/05/14","09:50:42","cfadmin","coldfusion.server.SecurityService.remov eAuthenticated()V The specific sequence of files included or processed is: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\CFIDE\administrator\index.cfm, line: 12 "
    "Error","jrpp-156","05/05/14","18:33:39","cfadmin","coldfusion.server.SecurityService.remo veAuthenticated()V The specific sequence of files included or processed is: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\CFIDE\administrator\index.cfm, line: 12 "
    "Error","jrpp-157","05/05/14","18:41:10","cfadmin","coldfusion.server.SecurityService.remo veAuthenticated()V The specific sequence of files included or processed is: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\CFIDE\administrator\index.cfm, line: 12 "
    I have opened index.cfm in Dreamweaver and line 12 is:
    _ $class$coldfusion$tagext$io$SilentTag  Ljava/lang/Class;  coldfusion.tagext.io.SilentTag c  forName %(Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/lang/Class; ef  java/lang/Class h
    This is identical to that line in my development server, where the Administrator works just fine.
    I have gone over so many files line by line and they are seemingly identical between servers.  I have checked IIS (v. 6) and both entries for CFIDE are identical.  I am fairly clueless when it comes to JRE stuff so maybe my problem is there but I don't know where to look.
    A bonus complication on the production server is that it runs a very clunky, old, un-updated CMS for the non-ColdFusion sites.  We are trying to move away from this but are stuck with it for a while more.  I am not allowed to touch anything that could mess with the CMS.
    I am very tired of trying to debug problems without the Administrator.  If anyone has any suggestions for me I would be very grateful.
    Thanks,
    Christina

    Hi Christina,
    If you're getting 500 error which means the hotfix was not applied properly and you missed something. Only option which I think is to roll back the update and you can copy all the backup folders and the re-apply the hotfix. If you search forums you will lot of users had same issue and that is because they missed something while applying the hotfix.
    Thanks,

  • ColdFusion Administrator - Server Error

    System:
    SUSE Linux Enterprise 10.2 64-bit
    ColdFusion 8 Enterprise 64-bit
    Had to uninstall and re-install ColdFusion.
    After the re-install of ColdFusion, I tried to deploy
    another ColdFusion Archive, via the "ColdFusion Administrator"
    The "Select File on Server" page display "Server Error: I/O error on server communication"
    No messages are sent to any of the log files.
    Any thoughts

    I located this while looking for answers to this issue BTW, guess I will give it a try. It's posted for version 6, but It still worth a try. I should also note, that I have been told if you know the path to the file, you can still use the deploy feature by typing its full path in the box and using deploy.
    Clicking the Browse Server button in the ColdFusion Administrator while RDS is disabled will cause a pop-up alert as shown here. The Browse Server button is part of an Applet built into the Administrator and is used for a variety of tasks, such?as selecting?the appropriate *.mdb file when creating an Microsoft Access Database Datasource from the CF Admin. If RDS was selected to be disabled during the post-installation configuration wizard, a recommended practice for production servers, then the Browse Server functionality will not work from the ColdFusion Administrator. There is no workaround other than to re-enable RDS in the deployment descriptor web.xml, found at{CF_HOME}/wwwroot/WEB-INF/web.xml. Refer to this document for how to enable/disable RDS.

    Is it possible to set the timezone settings in coldfusion administrator. If so, can you please tell me as to how it can be done.

    Thanks for your reply.
    The server time is being set in OS. Is it possible to change/add time to align to different country.
    e.g. the server time is set to singapore but the in the template now() function is being used. It prints the singapore time while it is priting the document. Without changing/adding the code is it possible to set the time on the coldfusion administrator 8.
    Please clarify.

  • How access ColdFusion Administrator?

    Hello. After 5 years away from programming, I now have a CF
    contract, and am trying to get up to speed in CF again. I still
    have nothing later than CF version 5, which I have just installed
    on three of my computers.
    How do I bring up Cold Fusion Administrator?
    I am unable to find any instructions as to how to do that in
    Using ColdFusion 5 Studio published by Macromedia (I realize that's
    Studio, not the server product), nor in O'Reilly's Programming Cold
    Fusion. My 'Developing Applications with CF 5', published by
    Allaire, says to select Start>Programs>ColdFusion
    Server>ColdFusion Administrator. However, on all three computers
    all I have is Start>Programs>Macromedia ColdFusion 5>
    ColdFusion Performance Monitor.
    Thanks for your help!
    Peyton

    Just to clarify: By web server, I assume you mean something
    like IIS, right? I have IIS installed, so that's not a problem.
    Apparently CF5 did not come with an update of Cold Fusion Studio,
    but my 4.0 version of that is working fine. And CF 5 server was
    also working great . I've written 4 pages so far, which all work
    fine until... I hit a problem I'll post separately in a moment.
    The client (i..e my business client, the guy hiring me to do
    this) does not have Cold Fusion at all, so I guess he'll have to
    buy verion 8 unless there's a cheaper alternative.
    And thanks for the recommendation of MX, which you say is
    free. I'll look into that. Returning now after 5 years, I was
    unaware of its existence. My first Cold Fusion users group meeting
    after all this time will be Wednesday, so I hope to learn more
    then...

  • Expiring ColdFusion Administrator password

    My particular agency has come up with a requirement that all
    passwords expire every 90 days. Great for their user's network
    login, easily done, makes sense.
    Not so easy for ColdFusion Administrator!
    I've figured out how to run a ColdFusion page to write a
    registry variable and even gotten it to overwrite the flag for
    password required, with the effect of turning OFF the
    administrators password at regular intervals.
    GREAT, but I want to do the opposite.
    I can set a remind to change it manually but that doesn't
    meet the requirement to expire it...
    Anyone with an idea of how to approach this one?

    John,  The encrypt function does not support SHA-256 as an algorithm because it is a hash algorithm not an encryption algorithm. The Hash function does support SHA-256, along with several others, see the docs: http://cfdocs.org/hash and http://cfdocs.org/encrypt
    Not trying to be nit picky but there is a big difference betwen hashing a string and encrypting it, and that difference is when you encrypt it you can get the original string back by decrypting. Hash algorithms are designed not to be reversable, which makes them good for storing passwords.

  • Changing ColdFusion Administrator's appearance

    Is there a straightforward means of customizing the
    ColdFusion Administrator's appearance? I'd like to make a cosmetic
    change to visually distinguish the Administrator on my dev instance
    from the production instance, but am hesitant to start messing
    around in the administrator files. Is there anything like an
    'official' way to accomplish this?

  • Add XML Publisher Administrator responsibility with EBS 11.5.9

    Hi all !
    I'm exploring the possibility to use XML Publisher inside Oracle E Business Suite 11.5.9. because...unfortunately it's not possible to upgrade EBS to the 11.5.10 version
    I found a note on the forum which says: "Starting from 11.5.9 the XMLP is bundled with Apps. You just need to add XML Publisher Administrator responsibility to your profile, and install MS Word template builder on your PC".
    So...my questions are:
    1) how can I add the XML Publisher Administrator responsibility to my profile ? Should I set up something (already existing into EBS), or should I install a patch ?
    2) how can I know the XML Publisher version bundled within Apps (if what is written inside that note it's true), 'cause I'd like to use the 5.6.3 version
    Also, I looked for a solution on Metalink and the only note regarding how to use XML Publisher inside E Business Suite 11.5.9. is the note id 278727.1 (even I should install the 4.5 XML Publisher version - TOO OLD)
    Thanks in advance
    Alessandro

    Hi Ravi thanks for you answer !
    So....I tried to create the responsibility from scratch, because nothing is defined for XML Publisher, in this way (from the OA System Administrator):
    Responsibility Name: XML Publisher Administration
    Application: XML Publisher
    Responsibility Key: XDO_ADMINISTRATION
    .....but inside the Data Group area
    Name : Standard
    Application: ?
    ....and inside the Menu area which information should I write ?
    Is there something to follow in order to create from scratch a XML responsibility ?
    Thanks again

    Login to to the Ebiz database with user/paswad app/app and verify the detiled parameter for below DB procedures which are being used to create, update user and responsibility related work
    Create User FND_USER_PKG.CreateUser
    Disable user FND_USER_PKG.DisableUser
    Update USer FND_USER_PKG.UpdateUser
    Enable User FND_USER_PKG.EnableUser
    Add Responsibility FND_USER_PKG.AddResp
    Update Responsibility FND_USER_PKG.AddResp
    Remove Responsibility FND_USER_PKG.DelResp
    In your case call two method
    1.CreateUser pass all parameter
    2. add responsibility - for responsibility check the KEY/ID value for System administrator in FND_RESPONSIBILITY table. while calling method pass this ID/KEY
    Better put this in EBIZ forum.

  • Multiple Coldfusion Administrator Instances using SSL.

    We have installing Coldfusion 9 as multiserver mode with the following configuration
    Web Server: Apache/2.2.14
    Java Container: Jrun 4 as provided with Coldfusion 9
    Operating System: Solaris 10 (SPARC)
    Our plan is to run a number of instances (about 7 or 8) each running a few applications to provide isolation to crashes etc. I've created several instances and configured isolation as described in http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ColdFusion/9.0/Admin/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811cbf364104-7fc4 .html#WS166820C3-9934-4838-83BA-F8B2B801A083
    Our organisational policy recommends that we use encrypted connections where ever possible so we are investigating using SSL to encrypt contections to the Coldfusion Administrators.
    I have configured the "Main Coldfusion" (cfusion instance) administrator to be fronted by Apache so the URL is https://servername/cfide/administrator/ However I'm not sure of the best way to manage the other 7 or 8 instances that currently are accessed through URLs that point to the Jrun Web server.
    http://servername:8301/cfide/administrator/
    http://servername:8302/cfide/administrator/
    http://servername:8303/cfide/administrator/
    etc....
    I've thought of a few options, but wondered if this was something that other people had done.
    1) Enable SSL on the Jun Web Server.
    This appears the most straight forward. Configure the JRun WebService to use SSL and point it to a TrustStore and a Keystore and supply the Keystore password resulting in the following in the jrun.xml:
    <service class="jrun.servlet.http.SSLService" name="WebService">
        <attribute name="port">8305</attribute>
        <attribute name="keyStore">/usr/local/certs/servername/java/keystore-chain.jks</attribute>
        <attribute name="trustStore">/u01/jrun4/lib/trustStore</attribute>
        <attribute name="name">WebService</attribute>
        <attribute name="bindAddress">*</attribute>
        <attribute name="socketFactoryName">jrun.servlet.http.JRunSSLServerSocketFactory</attribute>
        <attribute name="interface">*</attribute>
        <attribute name="keyStorePassword">**removed**</attribute>
    </service>
    However when I connect using Firefox I receive the following message. I also get a failure in IE 8
    An error occurred during a connection to servername:8305.
    Peer reports it experienced an internal error.
    (Error code: ssl_error_internal_error_alert)
    Adding -Djavax.net.debug=all to the java.args suggests the failure is due to
    web_ssl-0, handling exception: java.lang.RuntimeException: Could not generate secret
    web_ssl-0, SEND TLSv1 ALERT:  fatal, description = internal_error
    It appears that this is something others are experiencing the same problem (e.g http://serverfault.com/questions/119624/migrating-to-cf9-trouble-getting-jrun-working-with -ssl)
    2) Create separate Apache Virtual Hosts for each CF Administrator Instance.
    Create a Apache SSL Virtual host for each instance and configure it to use the Jun instance proxy Service. To reduce management overhead we would run each vhost on a different port number.
    For example:
    <VirtualHost 192.168.100.50:8443>
        ServerAdmin [email protected]
        DocumentRoot "/var/web/htdocs/"
        ServerName servername.example.com
        <IfModule mod_jrun22.c>
            JRunConfig Verbose false
            JRunConfig Serverstore /u01/jrun4/lib/wsconfig/cfadmin8443/jrunserver.store
            JRunConfig Bootstrap 127.0.0.1:51002
        </IfModule>
        # Normal SSL Certficates stuff, logging etc
    </VirtualHost>
    <VirtualHost 192.168.100.50:8444>
        ServerAdmin [email protected]
        DocumentRoot "/var/web/htdocs/"
        ServerName servername.example.com
        <IfModule mod_jrun22.c>
            JRunConfig Verbose false
            JRunConfig Serverstore /u01/jrun4/lib/wsconfig/cfadmin8444/jrunserver.store
            JRunConfig Bootstrap 127.0.0.1:51003
        </IfModule>
        # Normal SSL Certficates stuff, logging etc
    </VirtualHost>
    Thanks
    Peter

    Hi desispeed,
    Changes made to default instance (or any individual instance) will not replicate to any other instance. Only while applying updates in the default instance, it prompts you, to apply it on rest of the instances.
    The new instances copy the setting from default instance, during their creation. Thus, if you would like to make changes to all the instances in one go, then first make the changes to default instance and then only create the new ones. This is the only way to achieve, what you like to.
