COLDFUSION SETUP IN DW

Hi all,
I'm trying to get the databases and bindings panels working on a site...
I already have things setup and working for a colfusion 10 & mysql site.... local deveopment server an mac lion....
So - when I preview a page in browser or DW live mode - all mysql data show just fine
but the databases tab is gray and tell 5 things to do - but they are allready done in site setup area...
--> site setup uses connect = local / network but maybe need to switch to RDS instead???
I am using application.cfm master page with main connection data.
I do not have a connection folder - because previously not needed
It's like DW needs to see application.cfm data?
Q: what is missing?

I haven't used Dreamweaver with ColdFusion for a very long time, but I did write this tutorial on the basic setup: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_cf.html. As far as I know, it's still valid.
You might also want to check the ColdFusion forum. We rarely get CF questions here, so help is less forthcoming.

    I wondered if you could help me out here, I have installed

    installed IIS on the server and connected this to my website (based
    on my server)
    "could not connect to any Jrun/ColdFusion servers on host

    up!
    "server running - JNDI listening port i jndi properties

    Thanks for your reply.
    I have tried both of those and then service just won't start,
    I have been looking into this further over the last day or so and I
    am going to try and see what ports are open on my server - do you
    know what port this software uses?

  • ColdFusion Setup for Flex

    I have two questions about setting up ColdFusion to access a remote CFC from FLEX (Flash Builder 4.5).  I host several domains on my ColdFusion 8 server with IIS 6.  I would like to set things up so that I can hit a CFC that is not on the same domain as my "main" coldfusion server (ColdFusion .CFM files run fine from this domain).  I can't seem to do it though.
    If I adjust my service control endpoint so that it USES my main coldfusion domain, it works:
    _serviceControl.endpoint = "http://www.myMainColdFusionDomain.com/flex2gateway/"
    but if I try a different domain, it does not work:
    _serviceControl.endpoint = "http://www.notMyMainColdFusionDomain.com.com/flex2gateway/
    Also, I am having trouble with putting my CFC in a subdirectory and still getting it to work.  In other words, building from the above working URL, I can't seem to just add a subdirectory to the URL--it doesn't work:
    _serviceControl.endpoint = "http://www.myMainColdFusionDomain.com/subDirectory/flex2gateway/"
    I am sorry if what I am asking seems very basic, I am just learning.
    Thank you.

    Ok, I think worked this out for myself.
    First, I adjusted my default website in IIS so that it pointed to the directory of the domain I wanted to use, that cleared up the domain issue--not really the way I thought it would be done, but it works...
    Next for my directory question, I used a dot notation to indicate there is a subdirectory, and plugged it into my super class as follows:
    _serviceControl.source = "subdirectory.myCFCsName";

  • How to make my first website in Coldfusion Builder

    Hi everyone,
    Here is my problem that I really need help with.
    Context:
    I just moved from Dreamveawer to Coldfusion Builder. I want to:
    -> Set up my first server
    -> Creating an SQL DB on the server
    -> Create an index page and display query results
    When I started CF builder, i watched the videos on 'Getting Started ' screen. But my things didn't go as smooth as that of the guy in the video. After setting up the server I sometimes cannot start the server and sometimes the server starts but I can't access the CF Admin page (I couldn't access the admin page even once).
    Question(s):
    Does CF Builder installer also include Coldfusion setup or I have to install Coldfusion prior to installing the CF Builder?
    Is there any way of getting details about all the fields that I fill in during installation of Coldfusion/CF Builder, so I know what I am filling instead of just blindly following that dumb guy in the video
    Other Info:
    I am using Win7 64bit
    Installed Coldfusion9
    Installed CF Builder2 (standalone)
    P.S.
    I already watched these videos but they didn't work for me:
    -> http://tv.adobe.com/watch/adc-presents/getting-started-with-coldfusion-builder-2/
    -> The video on CF Builder2 start screen

    Thanks for clarifying.  Terry is a good guy. Glad you didn't mean him
    It is likely that when you installed ColdFusion you selected the "Server Configuration" (because you would know it if you did not). The other two options are quite complicated. You can verify this just by answering this question. Do you access ColdFusion via port 8500. If so, then you are using the Server Configuration.
    This means that your webroot is probably located at c:\ColdFusion9\wwwroot
    If you installed ColdFusion to a different location (like D:\) then you should be able to just make that change above.
    Change your workspace in CFBuilder (FILE >> Switch Workspace) to point to that wwwroot directory, then recreate your project and try it again.
    There are other ways of handling most of this. But this is probably the easiest.
    And trust me, when it comes to teaching, it's hard to please everyone. ColdFusion Builders target audience is likely experienced CF developers. Of course n00bs can use it too, but I am sure when they created those videos there interest was in getting existng CF developers on board. I teach a server-side programming course at the college level and it can be very hard teaching the IDE and the Server software at the same time. And I can see people struggling with figuring out the differences in terminology and technology.
    Where does the IDE stop and the server begin?
    I got an error, is the problem in CF or CFB?
    CFB says I have an error, but my code still runs, I don't understand.
    It's a tough line to cross. I am sure Adobe would be interested in hearing your feedback on how to make the training videos better, or on what types of new videos should be created. But try not to be too hard on them for not havign exactly what you need.

  • XHTML page with current PHP form - client wants Coldfusion integration...

    I have never worked with  Coldfusion before and I have no idea what it involves. The form is setup  with PHP right now, however, the client uses Coldfusion and would  prefer the form to be set up to integrate with it.
    I dont even know where to start! Any tips please?

    1) Confirm that you have ColdFusion setup and available to use.  ColdFusion is not a free product.  To use it on a production server, it will need to be purchased and installed OR one will have to contract with a hosting provider that includes it as part of a hosting package.
    1) A) On the  other hand, there is a free for developers license, that can be had from Adobe for the download.  Just install a ColdFusion package, but provide no license key.  This will create a developer edition (or a trial edition that devolves into a developer edition in 30 days).
    2) Write your fist CFML page.  Here is a simple example.
    Form.html
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Form Example</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <form action="processForm.cfm" method="post">
    <input name="test" type="text"/>
    <input type="submit">
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    processForm.cfm
    <cfdump var="#form#">
    3) Read about everything else ColdFusion can do in the documentation provided with the installers and online, online blogs and forums like this one, and books.
    4) Ask more questions in forums like this when you get stuck.

    Hi,
    We tried this out and it works like a charm
    Actually even we hit the issue you have mentioned but on further investigation we could get things working.
    Please follow these settings, we are not sure if you have done all of these:
    a) In CF9 administrator, under Mail section please type your server name, username and password. Check the ' Verify mail server connection'
    checkbox and click 'Submit Changes'. Make sure you get the message 'Connection Verification Successful'.
    b) Under Security-> 'User Manager' section in CF9 administration,  add an user using 'Add User' with the following info:
    username, password, confirm password , check both RDS and administrative access and add 'Exposed Services' by selecting the required services.
    eg: Mail Service and click 'Add User'.
    c) Go to 'Security->Allow IP Address in CF9 administrator and enter your IP address and say 'Add'.
    d) After add the following tag in addition to CF:Mail,
    <cf:Config  cfServer="" cfPort="8501" servicePassword="" serviceUserName="" />(the values entered here should be same as the ones configured under 'Add User' and 'Allow IP address' section).
    Please find attached the mxml file (TestCF.mxml) which has the Flex code.
    Also, add the 'CFService.swc' into your project. Go to  Project->Flex Build Path->Add SWC and point to D:\ColdFusionCentaur\wwwroot\CFIDE\scripts\air (subject to CF9 installed location).
    Please try the workflow by following these steps and let us know if things work fine

  • Setup 2 webservers with ColdFusion in loadbalanced environment

    Hello,
    Can anyone give tips re the following:
    I need to create a load balanced ColdFusion environment consisting of 2 servers each with a webserver that is connected to it's own CF10 server.
    The traffic to the ip adress is encrypted via https.
    The load balancer should be able to assign a client session to a specific server and keep it there during the duration of the session - so effectively making it sticky.
    What would be the best setup here?
    Do I need to create a cluster of 2 CF10 instances and assign the cluster to webserver 1 and webserver 2 so it is stcky? Or else, if I use 2 standalone ColdFusion instances, how can I make sure the sessions are replicated or sticky?
    Thanks,
    Marc

    Hi,
    Based on my knowledge, if site A and site B lose connectivity to site C, all databases will stay mounted because it doesn't lose quorum.
    If WAN connectivity is lost between site A and site B, one site of the two sites will retain quorum and the other site will lose quorum. For more details about this, you can refer to the "Misconception Number 2: Microsoft
    recommends that you deploy the Witness Server in a third datacenter when extending a two-member DAG
    across two datacenters" section in the following blog.

  • Server setup for Coldfusion 8

    What would you recommend to be the best setup in terms of
    memory, space, configuration of drive(s), etc if you were to put
    Coldfusion 8 enterprise on a Windows server? Let's look at it not
    from the minimum requirements perspective, but maximum.
    Thanks.

    As rwstoner states, CF can be a beast. But it all depends on
    your application. If you've got a basic application or suite of
    applications, then you don't need that much hardware.
    I've got to work with an application that does a fantastic
    job of stressing a dual socket, dual core 8GB machine with two
    instances using a static 3GB of memroy.
    I'm currently in the process of setting up a couple of big
    quad socket, quad core machines with 16GB of memory and configured
    to boot and run from a SAN. These two guys are going to take us to
    3 instances with a static 4GB of memory per JVM per server.
    I can't recommend enough getting a copy of Fusion Reactor to
    monitor what your system is doing with the given applications
    running on it and scaling from there.
    There is also a lot of documentation out there about setting
    up JVM's and multiple instances and best practice and all of that.
    Might want to search around some for those docs.

  • How to setup Coda site to use my standalone coldfusion 9

I'm using coda which has a similar site setup panel but I cant get my files to display in my browser when I test them. Its give me an error :

    I'm not sure if remote root should be set to this address.

    This is where my index.cfm file would be.
    When I type in to a browser directly I am able to load the page but when I broswe it through coda I keep getting this url.
    I keep getting sent to a local machine path and not my http://localhost path. I know its something simple in my Coda settings.
    Also to note i'm testing from my local tab in Coda and not remote tab.

    You could try this.  Turn off the power to both the router and the printer, then power the router on, then the printer and you should see the blue printers wireless light blinking, when it goes solid its connected to the router.  Then try it agian .  What printer and router make/model do you have?

  • New Coldfusion Server Setup in Flashbuilder and Coldfusion Builder not working

    I have not found the combination for adding a new Coldfusion Server in Flash Builder 4.7 or Coldfusion Builder 2.01 with Coldfusion 10. I am running windows 7 64bit. on IIS 7. Coldfusion 10 is running fine.
    All was well with Coldfusion 9 Flash Builder 4.6 and Coldfusion Builder 2.0.
    Local Server Settings for CF9 were
    Server Home C:\Coldfusion9
    Document Root   C:\inetpub\wwwroot
    Version: 9.0.x
    Now as soon as I put in C:\Coldfusion10 or C:\Coldfusion10\cfusion I get an error "Server home is not valid".
    Any hints on getting this going.

    Hi Jeff,
    Can you let us know the directory location for wwwroot on your system.

    Not necessarily. As soon as you select the "cfusion" location, it would automatically pick the wwwroot location.

    How do I configure CFEclipse to properly point to my ColdFusion server?

    What URL did you enter in the 'Edit URL' field? What was the URL in the Browser View when you got the 'webpage cannot be found'? Verify that the two are the same.

  • ColdFusion MX - New Setup

    I have a ColdFusion MX application installed on a Windows 2003 server. I need to move that application to a new Windows 2003 server.  The old application also has administration application installed that I need to move also. The applciation is based on SQl Server which resides on a seperate machine.
    I need to know what is required on the new server for this application and what do I need to do to move it over to the new server.
    thanks in advance.

    Via CF Administrator.  Note: you need to be running either the enterprise or developer edition to use this functionality.  If you are running standard, you can temporarily remove your licence to revert to developer edition, do the export, and re-apply the licence again.  Don't do this when the server is "live" obviously, as it'll bring the site down.
    All this is in the CF docs, btw...
