Cole-Parmer DAQ with ABB Aquamaster-S Flow Meter

I have a Cole-Parmer 18200-00 DAQ that I'm using to measure the flow rate using an ABB Aquamaster S. The flow meter sends out a pulse that is equivalent to the flow rate in the system. I'm having some trouble writing a program that would give me an accurate flow measurement. I tried converting the pulse into a voltage by using a resistor connected into the analog port but instead of getting a fixed or approximate number for the flow rate I get a range of flows. I'm guessing I should connect the flow meter to a counter port but I don't know how ?
I might even be on the wrong track to beging with. Please Help  ??
I'm attaching the current program I have writtent and the flow settings on the flow meter.

Unless I am confused by your text document, you can simply count pulses.
One pulse means that the pinwheel rotated one time.
They have calibrated one revolution to mean that 1/20th of a Liter has passed.
Therefore, your volume will be:
V = (# pulses) * 1/20
And your flow rate would be:
Q = V / (t2 - t1)
where t is time in whatever units you want.

  • Using NI-DAQ with Borland C++ 5.01

    Hi,
I've got a problem using Ni-DAQ with Borland C++ 5.01 (i know this section is for visual C++ but I couldm't find any for ANSI C++). If I write a simple program with one of the libraries included in nidaq.h and if i specify the correct lib and include locations I have a problem with the linkink process; in particular it says that the function can be resolved...
If anyone can help me I would appreciate it. Thanx
    Optoclasfo

    Hey optoclasfo,
I haven't used Borland much, but with Visual C++ the problem normally
happens because the lib and include paths are not added to the
project. For Visual C++ they are stored at
Tools->Options->Directories. If the library files (*.lib) are not
added to the project you can get this error as well.
    I hope this helps out.

    Hi
    Can I use a recent NI USB-6501 - 24-line Digital I/O (NI-DAQ) with LabWindows/CVI 7.0, even if Labwindows/CVI 8.x is required ?

    Hello.
In DAQmx Readme, you can see which version of CVI are supported by the actuel DAQmx version. For a 6501 card, 8.7.2 or 8.9.5 DAQmx versions will work.

  • DAQ and Coriolis Flow Meter

    Hey,
Can someone help me... I need to hook up a Coriolis Flow Meter with the Transmitter IFT9701 to the NI-DAQ - FP1000 but I can't find the wiring diagram.
There are just three wires coming out of the transmitter (red, black and plain) and gives an output of 19.8 volts on a multimeter.
Also, If you have any VIs or know where they are to find the flow rate measured my the flow meter, kindly send me the link or the file to [email protected]
    Thanks in advance!!
    Have a great day!
    Regards,

-- What does "plain" mean - do you mean uninsulated?
If so, I would guess a 4-20 mA output.
and gives an output of 19.8 volts on a multimeter.
That's meaningless unless you tell us if and how it's powered, and what resistor you used to measure.
Did you look up the specs?
It is indeed a 4-20 mA output.

  • TS1363 while updating my IOS to IOS 6 the updating process couldn't be completed for unknown reason and my iphone has nothing but a black screen with an apple and a meter that shows no progess. it completely froze!

When updating my IOS 5.1.1 to IOS 6 and after the download completed the updating of the iphone couldn't be completed for unknown error and the device froze and all i have now is a black screen with an apple and a meter that shows no progress I can't switch off my iphone or do anything!!!

    Hi,
I had a similar problem last week with my nice shiny 3 week old iPhone 6. I noticed the Apple logo was on the screen, but it did not progress like a normal boot up. I restarted the phone, and it showed the Apple logo, then a red screen then cycled back to the logo and kept looping. I got the phone to the iTunes connection stage by keeping hold of the power button and the home button until the apple logo appeared then kept holding the home button. iTunes recognised the phone, and wanted to restore, but this was unsuccessful  because the phone would keep looping to the red screen and iTunes failed. After loads of Apple support, I was told it was a hardware failure, and like you I live more than an hour away from the store. None the less, I made an appointment with the Genius bods, and they replaced the phone. They said they had never heard of the problem, but really, take a look at these forums and you will see that it is a common problem and I suspect they are keeping it under wraps...
My issue is that as a disappointed customer with faulty goods, why should i have to stick to an appointment to get it replaced? What other store would you have to do this?
The "Genius" didn't even want to see the phone powered up before offering a replacement... Oh, and it turned out they didn't have the exact same model as a replacement so they were going to send me out of the store empty handed.... I kicked off BIG time, and they very reluctantly gave me a phone from the sales stock, rather than the repairs stock..
Not a happy Apple customer anymore, and I feel the more people who know about the lack of service and customer care the better. They need to get off there high horse and join the real world!

  • 2 AI channels on one DAQ, with different sensitivity range

This vi is based on the State Machine from "new project" on the splash screen at LV startup.
A while loop is in parallel to the main while loop of the state machine, shown in picture.
It runs continuously until the Exit button is pressed.
The problem seems to be in the ..............start>read>stop..........start>read>stop.......... part along the error line.
The reason for this clunky start/stop arrangement is that the voltages measured are in two different sensitivity ranges.
The shunt voltage is small and needs the -.2 to .2 V range. The load voltage is larger and -10 to 10 V range is good.
In the initialize state, two separate "create channel" vi's were used to specify the voltage range for the physical channel. The corresponding tasks are sent over via local variables.
The DAQmx errors happen randomly, sometimes the first iteration, sometimes the 50th.
I tried disabling one or the other    start>read>stop    for the shunt or load voltage.
I tried replacing them with DAQ assistant.
I tried various DAQmx vi's:   "wait" and  "control task with unreserve resource selected".
But error -50103 "specified resource is reserved" keeps popping up.
Is it possible to create two tasks on the same device when they are not used simultaneously?
The only reason is to measure in two voltage ranges.
    Win 7 Pro, 64 bit
    LV 2014 Base
    DAQ hardware: USB 6210
    Thank you.

This has been discussed numerous times. Do NOT use separate tasks. You can use different ranges for different channels with one single task. Just wire the task out of one create channel to the task in of another create channel.
You are also using local variables where they are almost certainly not needed.

  • Daq with excel vba

    Hello,
I'm working with Excel VBA and I have a 6024E card. I'd like to know where I can download the CW DAQ 3.0.1 and if there is a documentation describing the functionality of the CW DAQ.
    With kind regards
    Alexander Heß

    Hello Alex,
you are able to use 3 different drivers for the device.
    DAQmx,Traditional DAQ or DAQmx Base.
I didnt found any 3.0.1 version.
Only a 3.1 version of the DAQmx Base driver.

  • Daq with Caen qdc and tdc

    Hi ,
I am trying to make a simple DAQ system with a CAEN QDC
(V965A) and a CAEN TDC (V775N) in a VME crate that are controlled by a VXI card
as slot_0 controller and a MXI-2 bus to a PXI card in a pc running LabView
    8.2.
I need to write  the daq code in LabView as I have used
it in the past for a similar configuration. I need some help with a direction
to posted occurrences of this  type of code even if it is for slightly
different modules (adc or tdc). I try not to have to write the code again from scratch
as time is of the essence. I am sure someone has that working daq system within
the past five years. These setups are very popular in nuclear physics
    experiments. Thanks.

    Hi Athans,
I would recommend asking Caen, if they have any LabVIEW drivers or even C drivers.
I have seen there are some LabVIEW drivers for some of Caen's products so this should hopefully bear fruit.

  • NI DAQ with windows ce

    Hello,
I'm developing a machine for a production line and I'm in the fase of choosing the OS to install.
I have some doubts about choosing Windows XP embedded or Windows CE (because of it's real time capabilities).
Does anyone has any experience with these OS? Does anyone know if the NI DAQ drivers will work in Windows CE?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paulo

The PDA module does support some NI DAQ hardware (I believe the PDA module includes DAQmx base), but I wouldn't go with CE just because of its RT capabilities - LV PDA is far from being on the level of the PC version and it very likely will not give you what you want - for example, I ran into a problem where the industrial PDA I wanted to use (which has CE.net, not PocketPC) does not like what LV uses for timing - apparently its power management causes it switch to a low CPU usage mode and the result was that everything would take much longer than it is supposed to. This could probably have been solved using EVC, but not in LV.
If XP embedded can run the desktop version of LV I would go with that.

  • Synchronised DAQ with 2 PCI-cards

    Hi folks,
we want to use two (2) synchronised PCI-6071E DAQ cards in one PC. At
the moment we use software triggers. Is it possible two get the
software trigger for device 2 from device 1? Or do we have to use an
external trigger what is not impossible but it needs more work? Do any
DAQ vi exist for two DAQ devices?
    Thanks for help, Felix

Software triggering in this case might be possible, but the better solution is to start things with a hardware trigger. Any computer running a commercial OS will have varying amounts of latency that will make reliable software triggering problematic. What's more, the faster the event is that you are trying to capture, the worse the problem gets--and sliding snow is very fast.
I understand that external triggering is more work, but you get much better results. Also the only tricky part will be generating the trigger. The code for a hardware triggered acquisition isn't any more complicated than software triggered code.

  • DAQ with ADC - analog to digital

I have a customer who needs to Analog to Digital functionality on a PC card.  Do you have such a card and is it compatable with HTBasic.  The user has many tests written in Rocky Mountain Basic which he would like to port to HTBasic for windows.  I know that we have have a daqni.dw6  driver that will allow HTBasic to interface NI DAQ soffware, and hence control the card.  What model of your cards can do A to D and do you think it is likely that HTBaisc which can control other DAQ cards from NI could control this card?
    Thanks!!!

    Hi,
Pretty much all major National Instruments hardware has at least one analog to digital converter. I recommend taking a look at M series boards for most DAQ applications. I would like to point out that these boards use the newer DAQmx driver instead of the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) driver, so you may want to look further into the daqni.dw6 driver to see what it can interface with.
HTBasic is not a supported ADE. Therefore, I cannot guarantee that the hardware will work on that environment.

    Hal L.
