Collaboration: DW overwriting files from local cache?

How do I keep Dreamweaver from overwriting newer files on the
server, wen those files were changed by another user?
I have a PHP-driven site built for a client. i do most of the
maintenance, but the client needs to update the text of some pages
frequently as information changes rapidly. So, she edits the pages
in DW.
The problem is that often I'll change file A myself, and then
when she edits file B, DW will quietly overwrite file A with an old
version. I changed her setup to an ftp-only site (no local copy),
and the problem actually got worse ... now it overwrites all files
with old version EVERY time she saves any file! The best I can tell
is it uses some hidden local cache, and always overwrites server
files from the cache, even when the server file is newer.
Is it possible to disable the cache? This client is on DW 8.
Thanks.

It sounds as though what's happening is that the other person
is
selecting the option to upload dependent files.
I don't have Dreamweaver 8 installed any more, but the option
that
controls the upload of dependent files is in Preferences
(Edit menu on
Windows, Dreamweaver menu on a Mac). I'm pretty sure it works
the same
way as in CS4. Select the Site category, and uncheck both
options for
Dependent files.

  • WAAS Speed from local cache

    I have a WAAS demo setup in a test lab and have a simulated T1 span connecting two networks. When I transfer a file using CIFS or web initially, I see the traffic flow through the WAN. When I do the transfer a second time, I know it is getting the data from cache as there is no WAN traffic, but I am not getting it at wire speed. It is only coming to the client at about double the T1 speed. I expected almost line speed access when getting data from local cache. Is there a setting I missed or is this expected behaviour?

    Zach,
    Yes, I understand some things could break if you are careful with those commands, but doing some simple "show" commands (or using the gui) shouldn't hurt when troubleshooting without TAC. I've used some expert show commands to see which files are actively being accelerated through the edge device.
    A little off-topic, but how are the drives partitioned? Our WAE-512 edge has 2 250GB drives mirrored, the "Maximum Cache Disk Size" only shows 93GB. I understand there are probably OS, swap, and log partitions, but it would be nice to know more definitely how it is split up to explain to a customer why they don't get the "full" size of the drive.
    Thanks,

  • Copy file from local host to remote host

    Hello,
    I need to copy a simple file from local file system , to another computer on the same network.
    How should i do that in a simple java program ?
    Thanks !

    Well , I tried that from winXP to winXP on another machine and it worked great :
           InputStream in = new FileInputStream(new File("C:\\temp\\myFile.txt"));
            OutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(new File("\\\\9.143.85.143\\c$\\tmp\\myFile.txt"));
            // Transfer bytes from in to out
            byte[] buf = new byte[1024];
            int len;
            while ((len = in.read(buf)) > 0) {
                out.write(buf, 0, len);
            in.close();
            out.close();
      BUT, in order to copy to a linux machine, I tried to put this as the new File :
    OutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(new File("\\\\9.143.86.145\\root\\tmp\\myFile.txt"));
      and it doesn't work. How should I format the new File path in order to copy to a linux FS ?
    Thanks !

  • Apple Remote Desktop ARD 3.7 cannot drag files from local to remote.

    Apple Remote Desktop ARD 3.7 cannot drag files from local to remote. I've been able to drag n drop folders and files from my local to the remotes for years until the update to 3.7. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I've tried changing preferences. No luck. Maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere.
    I'm on 10.8.5. Remote is same with 3.7 client. This happens with multiple remotes.

    Let me guess.  The Get and Send clibboard contents buttons are greyed out too?
    It is only affecting me on clients already upgraded to 3.7.    None of the clients on older versions are affected.
    ARD is also crashing a lot.
    Most of the time I go to a screen share to a client it takes way too long, so I clock Stop,  then try to connect again and works straight away.
    Hopefully a patch will be released soon.

    Hi,
    The error message may be thrown out when you attempt to create a database on another shared cluster drive when the SQL Server resource is not dependent on that disk.
    Check if you are in the scenario which mentioned in the following article:
    How to create databases or change disk file locations on a shared cluster drive on which SQL Server was not originally installed

    Hi ... How does the clients (iOS devices) to configure/use the caching server to download apps from local caching server instead of App store?

    Hi,
    If you want to restore a reomoved app,you need to use
    Add-AppxPackage to add a signed app package (.appx) to a user account.
    But we cannot extract them from the ISO.
    The behavior is by design.And this is a software protection regime.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Cannot Retrieve referenced URL in wscript file from Local System Account, but not other accounts on the computer.

    Hello,
    I have a WScript File that includes an external resource (js file).
    It works on one computer and it does not work on another computer.
    If I run this file from a normal admin command prompt everything runs fine on both computers.
    If I run this file from the Local System account using PsExec it runs fine on one of the computers and throws an error "Cannot Retrieve referenced URL" on the other computer.
    The reason I want it to run from the Local System account is that it is executed from a Windows Service.
    Is there some setting or some way for the IE cache to get corrupt on the Local System account or something like that?

    JRV,
    You are by far the worst 'support' person I've ever seen. If you aren't going to be thoughtful in providing support, don't pretend. If you're going to pretend, leave your condescension on the shelf. You have provided no thoughtfulness whatsoever to his issue,
    and have in no way improved the discourse. You are arrogant and condescending without exhibiting any intelligence whatsoever. I'm impressed Matt kept calm through your demeaning, counterproductive diatribes.
    Matt,
    First I'd check UAC settings, because I believe that can change how elevation works substantially.
    Second, I would check the versions of wscript.exe on both machines, both in System32 and SysWow, and I'd check for updates bypassing WSUS to make sure there's not something silly going on there (totally a shot in the dark, catch-all theory).
    Have you made any headway in the last few weeks?
    -John
    This is not a support forum and it is not for assistance in fixing broken configurations.  It is a scripting forum. The OP proved that the issue is not the script but the environment it is running in.  You should not get mad just because you are

  • Copy a file from local drive to network drive!

    The subject says it all but I'll explain. I have a web application that runs on a tomcat and mysql. I have a bunch of clients in a local network that uses the application.
    Server is running Windows 2003 server and clients are running windows XP.
    On a client request a file is created on the server in "temp" folder. The file name is "justAFile.txt".
    On the client pc a folder "temp" is shared for reading/writing.
    What I want is the server to take the IP address of the client, and then based on that address to copy the file "justAFile.txt" to it (for example "\\192.168.0.20\temp\" - that is the client address).
    I have the address of the client:
    String userAddress = request.getRemoteAddr();I use this code:
    FileOutputStream outFile;
    PrintStream p;
    String bonFileName = (justAFile.txt");
    String destinationFileWithPath = ("\\\\192.168.0.20\temp\\skladPrint\\"+bonFileName);
    try {
        outFile = new FileOutputStream(destinationFileWithPath);
        p = new PrintStream( outFile );
        p.println ("a textto be written on a file");
        p.close();
    } catch (Exception e) {
         %>Error writing to file<br><%
    }This code can create a file on a local drive with no problems, but when I try on a network drive it fails. Even for testing purposes I set the shared folder to a maped drive "Z:", and again no luck.
    I've spend all my day till now in reading articles in inet, but haven't found one that will solve the problem.
    I also tried creating a batch file (exec.bat) that has in it:
    move \temp\*.txt \\192.168.0.20\temp
    and then executing it with:
    String[] executeCommand1 = { "cmd.exe", "/c", "\\temp\\exec.bat" };
    Process p1 = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(executeCommand1);
    p1.waitFor();But again no luck. When I execute the file from command prompt, it moves the file to the shared folder, but when I start it from the java application with the posted code, it DOES NOT move the file...
    Any help will be appreciated...

    Try using the jCIFS project. This package allows you to access shared folders on a PC if you have a good username/password.

  • Unable to copy file from local drive to external drive

    I'm attempting to copy a 7gb file from my local drive on my iMac to an external firewire drive. Whenever I try to do this I get the following message: Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred.
    I've rebooted, checked permissions on local and external drive. I'm the only person that uses this iMac. It only has one profile on it. Any suggestions?

    Hello Sikwidityo
    If that External HD is formatted MS-DOS FAT32, then there is a 4GB file size limit that the iMac's can write to it.
    See > http://www.macworld.com/article/51972/2006/07/ww_drives.html
    In order to copy large files to it you from your Intel iMac's, you will need to set the Partition Map Scheme to GUID Partition Table and Format it Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    See > http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/partitioningtiger.html
    Keep in mind that repartitioning and reformatting will erase the current data on the External drive. So if you do, you'll need to copy it's contents to one of your iMac's and then back when your done.

  • Save file from server cache in WebUI

    Hello,
    maybe someone here can help me with this obscure problem, that bothers me for quite some time now:
    I want to save a pdf file from an internal table to the clients harddrive. Everything is implemented as in Thomas Jung's BLOG(forgot the link) on getting the table in the server cache and I do have my working download URL.
    Now for the difficult stuff: I need to get the file to download correctly without freezing the application.
    This are the ways I tried, but I always do end up with the loading icon in front of my page, not able to make any input. gv_download_url is my working URL, file is OK too when I open it on the hdd:
    1.
      <iframe src="<%= gv_download_url%>" width="0" height="0" id="PDFDownload"
              name="PDFDownload" style="display:none">
      </iframe>
    2.
    <p>
      <object data="report.pdf" type="text/unicode" width="1" height="1">
        <param name="src" value="<%= gv_download_url %>">
        Ihr Browser kann das Objekt leider nicht anzeigen!
      </object>
    </p>
    3.
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function pageLoaded(){
    var myFrame = document.createElement("iframe");
    var src = document.createAttribute("src");
    var height = document.createAttribute("height");
    var width = document.createAttribute("width");
    src.nodeValue = "<%= gv_download_url%>";
    height.nodeValue = "600";
    width.nodeValue = "800";
    myFrame.setAttributeNode(src);
    myFrame.setAttributeNode(height);
    myFrame.setAttributeNode(width);
    var output = document.getElementById("Bereich");
    output.appendChild(myFrame);
    document.close();
    </script>
    <div id="Bereich"/>
    <iframe src="about:blank" onload="pageLoaded()" height="0" width="0"/>
    The only working way I know is this one:
    <script langugage="Javascript">
      var win = window.open("<%= gv_download_url%>");
    </script>
    But I always end up with an empty browser page open, whicht the user has to close manually.
    <i>Short: URL is good, file data is good. How do I get the file download dialog without freezing WebUI?</i>
    Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Had the chance to test it in IC WebClient on CRM4.0 today. Everything works fine.
    It seems to be really WebUI specific then. Suppose some missed JavaScript event, that triggers the "Please Wait"-Icon.

    This is the first time I am trying to do something like this, all help is grealy appreciated.

    Hi, thanks for the responses
    I did some searching and found that the urlloader class is the right one for the job.
    'Access Local Files Only' option is provided for this very purpose I believe.

  • Read file from local disk (little bit urgent, thanks)

    Hi all. We're facing a problem using a signed applet. We think it's a matter of versions of the java plugin. The fact is that with version 1.4.0 there's no problem on reading a local file from the applet. Not the same can be said when using version 1.4.2_0X. In fact the applet crashes throwing the following exception:

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hola Ramon!
    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied
    (java.io.FilePermission C:\Documents and Settings\rgallart\Mis documentos\aaa.rtf read)I don't know much about signed applets, but I've seen this exception very
    recently with my own work with unsigned applets.
    If you put this in your policy file, all access problems should go away, whether your
    applet is signed or unsigned. But this would apply to any applet that uses the
    same policy file.
    grant {
    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    If you want something less radical and more sophisticated, check out the syntax here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/security/PolicyFiles.html
    Another way round the access problem is to locate the file to be accessed on the same
    host as your applet, and open it as an url resource. This works with an unsigned applet
    with default security, so it whould work with a signed applet too. (In my so called logic at least :)
    I can post a code example of this here if you want one.
    There was no need to configure any policy file in the
    local system with version 1.4.0 and also writing a
    file to disk works fine. Is it necessary to do so on
    higher versions?Honestly, I don't know. But it looks that way, doesn't it?
