Colors just don't ever come out right.

I've put a good 3 hours into trying to resolve this issue, and I've given myself a headache (which is rare, but they're doozys when I get them) So I'm admitting defeat and calling in for help.
I have a mockup of a website done. When I view the website images in my browser, the colors are not right. In PS, under color settings, I have it set to sRGB 2.1 in RGB. When I save, I do a SAVE FOR WEB and I click on the checkmark that says "Save as sRGB".
But when I screencap the website (Firefox 3.6) and bring it back into Photoshop, there's a slight change of color. Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong. I gotta go take some excedrin. My head is killing me. So much time wasted. So many files made that are askew.... ugh.

If the OP wants to see his sRGB imagery the same in Photoshop as it is presented by a browser, that's reasonable and is indeed something to strive for. If it isn't working that way then something's out of control, and that's just plain WRONG. I don't care if it's close; "close" is not good enough.
The Windows default color space is sRGB. Internet Explorer, doing no color management itself, should be passing the values through to Windows unchanged, and Windows should be putting them on screen in sRGB. If that looks different than what's being shown by Photoshop then something's set wrong in the workflow, or there's a software problem.
Firefox used to need to be configured to use color management. I'm not sure whether the current version enables it by default, but once again if it is not interpreting - or correctly interpreting - an embedded sRGB color profile the image should look just the same as in the editor.
Let's try to get to the bottom of what's happening, shall we?
In Windows:
Click the Windows 7 Start menu and type sRGB into the search box
Click Change advanced color management settings for displays, scanners, and printers when it comes up.
Click the Advanced tab.
What Device profile is listed under Windows Color System Defaults?
In Photoshop:
What are the settings in Photoshop in your View menu for Proof Setup and Proof Colors? Was that what you have set to "Monitor Profile"?

Just had a tech come out to the house

I have spent hours on the phone - mostly waiting for a real person. The customer service via phone is ridiculously poor.
But I scored a tech visit and the tech was not in the house 5 minutes when he saw what the problem was and solved it. Moral of the story is to not get a replacement box sent to your house (I have a total of 5) until you have a tech come out to verify what the problem really is!

first, I think you should indeed immediately stop communicating with that user, and end all connections with them. Delete and block them in your social media accounts and other avenues that have been used to communicate with them.
Then you can report them to [email protected], so Skype can check and investigate their account and possibly suspicious activities. I think they can do actions against their accounts such as suspending them or making them ineligible to use Skype services.
However, I think Skype is only limited doing actions against their Skype accounts. So if you feel still necessary, you can also consider reporting this matter to your local police. Then your local police can contact Skype (most likely they already know how) to request for information or assistance that may possibly help them in their investigations.

Apple itself does not respond to questions on the Apple Support Communities forums. Responses come from other Mac users like yourself. We don't know what Apple plans on doing but I am not sure the iPod Touch has the computing power to do Siri.

OK - I think I got it. On the chessgames.com site you see stuff like this:
1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 Bb4 4. a3 Bxc3 5. bxc3 c5
Instead of:
1. d4 Nf6
2. c4 e6
3. Nc3 Bb4
4. a3 Bxc3
5. bxc3 c5
But this formatting is not being created by your Mac, or any settings on the Mac. The chessgames.com site creators decided to use that formatting.

I try to print a 4 page site at less than 100% the first page comes out right and the others revert to 100%. How can I change this?

I am working on an iMac, OS10.6.8.
There is a certain web form that I must fill out regularly. It is long and consists of several pages. I wish to keep either a PDF or printed copy of my completed forms. I change the percentage in Page Setup and when I go to print or make the PDF the pages after page 1 revert to 100% and copy is omitted between pages 1 and 2.

You may have to crop pages to get the effect that you want. If you have the original, it would probably be easier to edit that and create a new PDF.

I understand your frustration, but when any form of rationing is required you have to prioritise. The number of unlocked vs packaged phones will be quite small and the number of unlocked buyers wishing to upgrade immediately will be smaller still. Against this you have the corporations sharing $billions between them.
It would, you're correct, have been fairer to release all at the same time, but fairer doesn't come into it: it's business.

Photos come out real dark when printed on various printers

Im really unsure if this is an Indesign problem or not but most everything I do is created in InDesign along with Photoshop, Acrobat, and other Adobe products. Im just out of ideas on what the problems could be so thought I would take a crack at Adobe being the problem? I just dont know!
When I print things out on our high end Xerox color printer, things tend to come out more on the darker side. Its mostly noticable with photographs but it can also be seen in general solid colors also. I generally make the printer print 85% lighter from its settings and things will usually come out acceptable.
When I send files to out digital plate maker, usually as black/grayscale, the photographs will always come out real dark. For this, I have to over compensate by editing each photo individually so they no longer look normal on my screen, but overly faded just so it will look properly on our DPM.
This is something I have been dealing with for several years and though its basically a part of life now, I still cant stand it! All drivers, patches, and firmware is updated, printer color is calibrated, even paid techs to figure it out...nothing! For both our standard black and white printers, these files usually print out ok, all photos look just as good as they do on screen.
Well we just got a new large color plotter machine for printing large banners and signs. I dont operate it but the one who does seem to know his stuff. He said his program will only work with EPS files. I had created a press quality PDF from InDesign that I then converted to EPS as well as creating an EPS directly from InDesign. All files looked nice and bright on both my screen as well as his. On his first sample printout on the plotter, the images came out dark!!!!! Why???? We made new files where again, I overcompensated by fading the photos out bigtime to where they look horrible on screen but printed out mostly ok on the machine.
This cant be the normal way things are done, Is this an InDesign problem or what??? Any suggestions would be great because we are out of ideas!

I believe Xerox ships the EyeOne spectrohotometer. The companion software for that is Eye-One Match, which gets installed on your computer. I don't know if that's included. If it is, the software will lead you through adjusting the monitor and will then record a profile and associate it with the monitor. Adobe apps will use that profile to display color on screen. Each monitor needs to be profiled -- generic profiles shipped on the install disk for the monitor are useless in a color critical workflow, they match some hypothetical average monitor, or one that was pulled off the assembly line long before yours was built, and every monitor is unique in how it displays a give set of color numbers.
There should be some icc profiles on the support disks for the printers. These are the output profiles you need to target in ID, or you need to output as a standard RGB profile like Adobe RGB and let the RIP do the conversion internally to the Xerox color space.
This is a pretty complex thing to explain in detail here. You should read the Color Management section of the help files, any documentation that came with the Fiery, and I highly recommend Real World Color Management by Olav Kvern and David Blatner which is easy to read without a lot of technical jargon, and clearly explains both the theory and practice of color management in the real world (though it's now a few years old).

     I can, with 99.99% certainty, tell you that you are absolutely right in not wanting to download or install this "Helper," whatever it is (but we can be equally certain it would not "help" anything).
     I cannot comment as to Oglethorpe's recommendation of 'adwaremedic'; I am unfamiliar with it. His links to the Apple discussion and support pages warrant your time and attention.
     It might be really simple -- Trying looking in your Downloads folder, trash anything that you don't know with certainty is something you want to keep, and then Secure Empty your Trash. Then remove the AdBlock extension, LastPass, and Web of Trust extensions to Safari and re-boot. If the issue goes away, still be extraordinarily careful in the future.
     Unfortunately, it's probably not going to be that simple to get rid of, in which case I'd then try the line by line editing in HT203987.
     I have no further suggestions (other than a complete wipe and re-install...but that's a pain because trying to restore from Time Machine would simply ... restore the Mal).
   For the rest of us, please post when you find a solution.

One thing the iPad lacks is a file manager. There is no file explorer native on the iPad. If you started adding plugin cards, then you add the need for that. And, in PC's, most viruses spread via the file explorer (the definition of a virus is a malicious program that propagates itself across multiple programs)
There are a few drives out there for iDevices. Such as the WiDrive and others.

No. Netflix is solely a streaming service and does not provide downloads. If you want downloaded movies, buy or rent from the iTunes Store. Note that in some cases people have found that rented movies still require connection to the ITunes Store to play, for reasons I have yet to figure out, so purchases are safer.

Seriously though, basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).

Colors just don't ever come out right.
