Column Heading to be changed dynamically

Hi,
I have one more requirement like this..
In one report we have 5columns, 2dim and one fact(X) and we need to show same measure in 3diff columns.
Like ColumnHeading: Week#:46(if Current week =46) Column1: X of Current Week
ColumnHeading: Week#:43 to 45 Column2: X from CurrentWeek-3 to CurrentWeek-1
ColumnHeading: All Prev from Week#:42 Column3: X Lessthan or equalto CurrentWeek-4 if selected year and selected half (both from prompts) falls under current year(2010) and current half(2010 Half2) else
Column Heading: Week#:27 (if 27 is max week number in selected Half) Column1: X for Max Weeknumber of that half
Column Heading: Week#:24 to 26 Column2: X from Max Weeknumber-3 of that half to Max Weeknumber-1 of that half
Column Heading: All Prev from Week#:26 Column3: X lessthan or equal to Max Weeknumber-4 of that half
Thanks,
Phani.

Phani,
Its not a straight forward .....
some cases its not possible

  • How to pass column header as a parameter in Validation Expression (APEX4.0)

    Hello
    I created a new Page validation in APEX4.0 ( not 4.1 ).
    (1) Type : Function Returning error text
    (2) Validation Expression 1 :
    begin
    return validate_name ( p_c=> #COLUMN_HEADER# ,p_c_value=> to_date(:p26_LEAVE_FROM,'dd/mm/yyyy') );
    end;
    note: the validate_name is an oracle pl/sql procedure which takes two input parameters ( column header name and actual value ) and return a specific error message ( to that column ) or NULL.
    (3) In the Error Message section, I left Error Message blank ( as the app ignored the mssage but used the one returned from the above function)
    However, I chose "The Error display location" to be inline with field and notification" and Associated Item to be "p26_LEAVE_FROM".
    My question, it worked if I hard coded the actual column header "LEAVE FROM" , but it didn't work if I used the above #COLUMN_HEADER# in Validation Expression. Can I avoid hard coding as the column header might be changed one day. Is there a better way to deal with multiple column validations with different error message for each column ? It seems that I will have to create similar page valiation for each column to be validated.
    Thanks for your advice.

    You want something like this:
    DECLARE
      lio_success  VARCHAR2( 2000 );
      li_id        NUMBER;
      li_dep_id    NUMBER;
      li_sel_id := NUMBER;
      li_date DATE;
      lo_date DATE;
      lio_return_message xyz_bpe_rec_fn.xyz_bpe_rec_col;
      l_ret xyz;
    BEGIN
      lio_success := 'some value';
      li_id := NULL;     -- or some number
      li_dep_id := NULL; -- or some number
      li_sel_id := NULL; -- or some number
      li_date DATE := sysdate;
      lio_return_message.col1 := somevalue;

    You can implement DropTargetListener, DragSourceListener, DragGestureListener like the following:
    public class MyTree extends JTree
                implements DropTargetListener, DragSourceListener, DragGestureListener {
        public void dragEnter (DropTargetDragEvent event) {
            event.acceptDrag (DnDConstants.ACTION_MOVE);
        public void dragExit (DropTargetEvent event) {
            //System.out.println( "dragExit");
        public void dragOver (DropTargetDragEvent event) {
        public void drop (DropTargetDropEvent event) {
            // place your code for action after drop
        public void dropActionChanged ( DropTargetDragEvent event ) {
        public void dragGestureRecognized( DragGestureEvent event) {
        public void dragDropEnd (DragSourceDropEvent event) {
        public void dragEnter (DragSourceDragEvent event) {
            //System.out.println( " dragEnter");
        public void dragExit (DragSourceEvent event) {
            //System.out.println( "dragExit");
        public void dragOver (DragSourceDragEvent event) {

    Are you saying you are not able to create an object by value (select: statement) as sysdate and put it onto the headers of your report? You can use the add_months() function on the object to add the numbers of months you wish.
    Please let me knnow for more.. You can get in touch with me on [email protected] for quick reply.

  • Changing the Column Header and Hiding the Column dynamically???

    Hi friends..
    I'm new to OBIEE field. I'm working in a OBIEE project that requires to dynamically change the column header, and dynamically hide the column depending on the prompt value.
    I know we can dynamically change the table header using the presentation variable but I couldn't do that same thing with column header.
    I searched some forums that suggest to use java script for this purpose but I'm not able to do the same also. If anyone had same issue before please help.

    toony, I'm not sure it's possible to do all that you want exactly the way you want, but here are some ideas you can pursue.
    To dynamically change column headers without javascript, check this blog out...
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/01/25/oracle-bi-ee-101332-dynamic-column-headers-using-presentation-variables-sets-and-conditional-formatting/
    As far as dynamically hiding a column, I don't think you can do this, but since you don't provide any details on how the PV is supposed to hide a column based on the value, are you talking about hiding a column for one PV value and another (different) column for a different PV value? Or are you talking about hiding one column when a PV has certain values and displaying it when the PV has a different set of values?
    I have managed to create both scenarios via a work-around, but the procedures require some writing so I don't want to put both. Please detail how you want your PV to "hide" a column or columns.
    P.S. I don't think column selectors will do the trick for you. Basically column selectors work like this: Say you have a report using Sales Region ID, Region Name, and Sales. Now let's say you want the user to choose if he/she wants to see annual sales, or quarter sales or weekly sales, etc. The column selector view would allow you to put the various columns (Year Sales, Quarter Sales, Weekly Sales) as an option the user can select. Once selected, the sales figure will change for the time period selected. For an example of how this is done, check out the section in this "Oracle by Example" link.
    Waited too long to publish this... Madan beat me to it, so there is some overlap here...

  • Dynamically changing the Advance table column Header.

    Dear All,
    I want to change dynamically the Advance table column header.
    I tried the below code and its working process request,not in process form request when button pressing.
    Please suggest me.
             OAAdvancedTableBean tableBean =
                               (OAAdvancedTableBean)webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("advanceTableRN");
                           if (tableBean != null) {
                           System.out.println("tableBean");
                               OAColumnBean columnBean =
                                   (OAColumnBean)tableBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("column3");
                               if (columnBean != null) {
                                   System.out.println("columnBean");
                                   OASortableHeaderBean colHeaderBean =
                                       (OASortableHeaderBean)columnBean.getColumnHeader();
                                   if (colHeaderBean != null) {
                                       System.out.println("colHeaderBean");
                                       colHeaderBean.setText("Segment3");

    You can try 2 options:
    1. Try to call pageContext.forwardImmediatlytoCurrentPage();
    2. Try yo set a vo attribute to the columnbean text property and set the vo attribute programmatically. (I have not tried this but I think it should work)
    Cheers

  • Change Table control Column Header text dynamically

    Hi,
    I have an requirement to change table control column header text dynamically.
    i.e. I have about 10 columns in table control, out that need to change 5 columns header text. These header texts are stored in an internal table.
    I had looked into the below link but could not get exactly how to do it.
    Dynamic headers in table control
    Could you please tell me how to do that.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Saba,
    What you will need to do is this.....
    1. First replace the column Header Text box by I/O Fields and name them accordingly.
    Say for example we will consider the same example which i had explained in the link.
    there in the column header we want the header to change when some dates and entered into two fields which are out of table control say
    Start Date: 01.01.2010 to End Date: 06.01.2010
    Now we want the header to look like this,
    Column  No.    -        1               2             3                  4               5               6
    Header label   -    01/FRI       02/SAT     03/SUN       04/MON     05/TUE      06/WED
    Header name -    SPOTS1   SPOTS2    SPOTS3      SPOTS4     SPOTS5    SPOTS6
    then you go as per the instructions in the link......
    Let me know if you need further help,
    Hope this solves your problem....

    Hi,
    by making use of specific report column templates and column template conditions you can change the headers dynamically.
    See this http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21674/ui_templt.htm#HTMDB25708 for more info.

  • Dynamically change column heading without Dashboard Prompt

    Hi All,
    My requirement is change the column heading dynamically in a report. I have achieved this through setting the presentation variable to the dashboard prompt.
    I have 5 columns in the dashboard prompt. Out of these 5 columns, I want to use only 1 column as dashboard prompt.
    But still I want to dynamically change the column heading of the other 4 columns based on the only 1 column selected in the dashboard prompt.
    Is there anyway to achieve this?

    You need to have some logic to change other 4 columns based on 1 selected column.. where you want put that logic?
    BTW: Check these

    User can Maintain the Column Heading's, by the way you mentioned....
    Else you can use TOP-OF-PAGE event to build Dynamic Coulmn Headers.

  • Field Header / Column Header Dynamic Name change

    Hi,
    I have built a query using SQ02 and SQ01. I have a question, what is the easiest way of changing the Column Header using ABAP Code? I have 3 columns which i have added myself,
    1st colum name should be the current month
    2nd column name should be current month +1
    3rd column name should be current month + 3
    ANy help would be appreciated
    thanks
    Adeel

    Hi Friend,
    For changing column name according to your requirement in ALV:
    take a variable type p (for example ws_month);
    pass month number.
    Go to table T247 and take month text and pass to
      WA_FIELDCAT-SELTEXT_M = 'Month Text'.
    Increment the month number by 1 and follow the same logic.
    You can implement the same logic for report also.
    Regards
    Krishnendu
