Combining Two completed books

Is there any way to combine two books or add pictures to a completed book? I want to update a book that was made for my mother's 80th birthday, but don't want to rebuild the entire 55 page book and all its descriptions and layouts. I've added photos to the source album but they don't appear in the book project.

    1. I had two Macs, now I have one. How can I import my wife's address book into my address book without losing my contacts, and without creating another user account. I have her Mac cloned on a firewire drive.
    2. I imported her entire Mail library, but none of the saved messages were in their folders. They are in the right place in the library on HD, but they are not in the mailboxes. Is there a way to get them recognized by Mail without opening each one and clicking "Move To" in the menu. There are several hundred saved emails.
    Help with *either one* of these questions would be greatly appreciated.

    I would imagine that a cloned disk of an Intel is not going to boot on a G5 since one's executable files in there aren't going to be cross-architecture compatible with the other, and I doubt that the installer DVD put both sets of executables on your drive. Try the procedure using your MBP.
    If that doesn't work (don't know why it wouldn't), try this:
    1. Temporarily move your home folder's ~/Library/Address Book folder to your desktop.
    2. Ctrl-click on it and make an archive (.zip) of it for safety.
    3. Copy her Address Book folder from the firewire drive into your home folder's Library folder.
    4. Quit Address Book, or at least logout and log back in, or maybe just outright reboot.
    5. Do what I said to do before to create the "Arnold Adam's and 101 others.vcf" card.
    6. Move your Address Book folder on your Desktop back into your Library folder to overwrite your wife's version that is in there now.
    7. Once again, maybe reboot, or whatever.
    8. Double-click on the "Arnold Adam's and 101 others.vcf" file on your Desktop to import them into your Address Book as I described in my earlier post.

    I am really tensed for the same...
    Actually the error occurs in the following case:
    1. I am creating a Parent folder in robohelp with the name ABC..
    2. Next Under ABC i have created 2 separate folders say XYZ and EFG.
    3. Under XYZ i have created various Topics say 2 or 3.
    4. Under EFG i have created various Topics say 7 or 8.
    5. Now, i have created a TOC with name for ABC (Parent Folder.)
    6. Next i have dragged and dropped my two sub folders that i have created under ABC in Project Set up wizard that is XYZ and EFG, in order to generate the webhelp first and then the CHM file fo rthe same.
    7. Webhelp is successfully getting generated.
    8. But when i convert the Webhelp to CHM Converter, after few seconds the robohelp gets halt and it shuts up the robohelp, showing a message dialog box that the Adobe Robohelp 11 is Troubleshooting for the error, the Windows manager will get back to you..Someting like this, the .CHM file for the same gets generated on the described path, but when i click on it, it does not open and shows the error as "Cannot open file: mk:@MSITStore: C:\\Users\..\Desktop\filename.chm".
    Please  help me in sorting the above issue.
    According to me:
    I think i am Lacking in the two things:
    1. How to link all the topics with the parent folder.
    2. How to Merge the projects.
    Can you please provide me the link where i can get tutorial to create a TOC for multiple files in a same TOC and to generate a chm for them.
    Actually for single project folder i have worked successfully. But, its first time i have to create a chm with lot many sub folders in it, as like one create a book.

    I imported a COMPLETED book project into Aperture 3, only to discover that  the resolution of all the photos has been reduced to totally unacceptable levels.  Any easy solution?
    Steps:
    1. I finished an Aperture 2 (Two) book project and tried to submit it to Apple for printing. At that point I learned (belatedly, obviously) that Apple no longer accepts books from Aperture 2. I don't know how I would have known to even ask if Aperture 2 had been sunsetted as far as book projects go.
    2. So I tried to download Aperture 3 ($79.99), only to be told that I couldn't download Aperture 3.5.1 because I was still running OSX 10.8.x. So I read current reviews for OSX 10.9.x, and ...
    3. Downloaded and installed the current operating system (about a 3-hours process for me).  OSX 10.9.2, here we are!
    4. Then I returned to the Apple Store, found, and purchased Aperture 3.  [For safety's sake, it would sure be nice to have a .dmg file I could copy and file away.  I lost a perfectly legal and good copy of Adobe's Photoshop Elements 3 years ago because I wasn't smart enough to make a safety copy, and when my iMac crashed (fried electronic components), I was left with a copy of the software that wouldn't run, and couldn't be verified as legit.]
    5. When Aperture 3 finished installing, I found and imported my COMPLETED Aperture 2 book project, which import seemed to proceed nominally -- the right number of pages, the right content on those pages, that sort of thing -- until I started looking more carefully at the pictures themselves.  All of them, about 300 of them, have been imported into an Aperture 3 book project in such a reduced resolution that they are fuzzy at the size the book will be printed.  Screen-capture of just one example (at 100% viewer setting):
    I don't know what to do at this point to correct the problem, short of going through the entire book project, copy the custom captions (since those go away when you "delete" photo content), delete the photo, re-insert the photo, and paste back the custom caption.  Lather, rinse, repeat - ~300 times!  An estimated 2-3 hours of additional work.
    Or does anyone in this community know either (1) that I did something wrong in the Aperture 2-to-Aperture 3 import (I don't recall being offered any options or choices in the process); or (2) that there is a wholesale one-step solution to my problem?
    BTW, I tried to edit my "Product" info, but OSX 10.9.x is not in the pick list.  I am running OSX 10.9.2

    Frank, thanks for your note.  I wrote "COMPLETED" because I had gone to a lot of effort to get the content of the book precisely as I wanted it. I would fully expect to see my level of effort and care matched by functional competence in Aperture 3 to render the book the way I created it.  Too much to ask?
    And yes, I upgraded the Aperture 2 Library first.  [Not ALL my tens of 000s of pix, because I use Lightroom selectively for photo editing. But Yes to the Aperture 2 Library.]  That step took a number of minutes, but seemed to work fine (no error messages of any kind).
    Then I opened the existing book project in Aperture 3, which followed some "magic-box" process that took a minute or so.  As I said, when that step was done, by all appearances the book was ready to submit for printing - until I examined the photos a little more closely.  You did see the blurry example I included, didn't you? That is what each and every photo looks like.
    Text-box content appears to have been rendered pertectly, for the record (including captions).
    So, ... is this result something you have heard of before?  Do you know of a one-step solution?  Or am I looking at an extended picture-by-picture fix?

    After my last contribution "Request for Scott Spendolini" I was able to create the scripts to update fields in forms without having to refresh the page. Thanks again to Scott, Carl and the others who helped me solving my problem.
    I have another question regarding this however. How do I combine two (or more) values on a form to fill a field with the values, for instance to create a unique Primary-key field?
    This is the example: combine the postcode and the house-number (and maybe an extension to the housenumber) in one field 'adrescode'. This uniquely identifies an adress in the Netherlands. I can 'get' the postcode to fill the first part of the adrescode, but how do I modify the scripts to 'get' the housenumber (huisnummer) and - if not left null - the extension to the housenumber?
    Here are the scripts I created to far:

    I ran this PL/SQL in the SQL-section of HTMLDB and it does what a expect: combine the values in a new string.
    In my page however, it only gets the value of postcode and puts this into the adrescode field.
    So my question is: how do I modify the Javascript (I Guess) so that also the fields 'huisnummer' and 'huisnummertoevoeging' end up in the adrescode field?

    I have two pages with exact the same fields and codings (as described before in this Post.
    I now have two different named functions and application processes, a javascript an process for each page. They both do the same thing, use the same code except for the page-number (:P52_ and :P92). I tried to make one process to replace both, but ran into problems when I changed the name in the get.add statement.
    Changing the get.add from: get.add('P52_POSTCODE',html_GetElement('P52_POSTCODE').value) to: get.add('POSTCODE',html_GetElement('P52_POSTCODE').value) always ends up in what looks like a complete html-(source)dump of the page in the field that has to be updated. Even when I replace the :P52_POSTCODE in the application process as well Changing back the application process and the javascript to so that both javascript and process use the :P52_ again and the function returns the correct value again. What am I doing wrong?
    I requested an online-workspace to post the application to it, but have no answer to my request yet, so I can't provide a working example at the moment....

  • Trying to combine two 'lines' to make a 'shape'?

    I've been trying for hours to combine two curves I drew with the pencil tool into a shape that I can fill with a color or gradient:

    The top row has the two lines (stroked).   When I move them together, I get a pleasing 'flame' shape that I want to use in a logo.
    The bottom row shows what happens when the two 'lines' are 'filled', and what happens when the flame is 'filled'.   I've tried all manor of grouping, merging, combining....I've lost track at this point....
    I think part of my problem is that I assume the pencil tool would draw lines (or perhaps 'paths' is more accurate?)--but it seems to be drawing 'shapes'.
    I've tried using the pen tool, but the curves are never as smooth as the ones I drew 'freehand'...
    What should I have done / be doing differently?

    Just drag-select the upper two points with the Direct Select tool and use the KBSC CmdOpt-Shift-J to unite the lines. Do the same at the bottom to complete the shape.

  • How can I combine two databases, from two computers, to have one combined database of messages?

    My old XP computer recently died and I had to build a new Windows 8.1 machine. While I was down I used a laptop as a temporary replacement. Now my new machine is running fine and receiving e-mail, but I now have two databases--one on the new machine and one on the laptop. Both are based on a recent backup, so they are lengthy--except that the new machine's database has a hole in it for the period I was on the laptop and the laptop's database also has gaps. How can I combine two databases into one that includes the messages from both machines?

    Thanks for your reply. My profile folder did not contain any MBOX files. I found them in another folder on another drive. The Import-Export tools simply transferred each folder to the current one as a sub-folder. Then I had to use ctrl-a to select everything in the folder and move them manually to the current folder (such as inbox). Then I could use the other utility you mentioned to remove the duplicates. This had to be done, one folder at a time, to combine each folder. It worked, but I had about thirty-five folders to deal with. The whole process took most of two days to complete. I wish there was a simple way to blend everything together in one action, but I could not find an add-on that would do this.

    One way is to do for loop but I don't want to use this.
    I need something similar to resultset3 to use it dynamically in select statement to do MINUS operation with another resultset . I think things like MULTISET, COLLECT, CAST can achieve what I want to do.
    Can you please help me to have a select statement that combines two single column rowset and put into a two column recordset.

    However, there is a caveat here: the lines highlighted in bold above are defining an arbitrary ordering for the nested table elements using rownum, as there is no concept of ordering within a nested table. You should change this part of the query to whatever makes sense in your environment, otherwise this solution cannot be guaranteed to be correct. Another option would be to use VARRAYs, as they will retain the order of elements.

  • Combine two iMovie projects into one iDVD project?

    Could someone help me figure out the best way to combine two iMovie (HD 5) projects into one iDVD project? I currently have a documentary with one iMovie project at 1 hour exactly. I am starting a second one and would like all this to go on one DVD eventually. I am especially concerned about what happens with the chapter markers already created in each iMovie project - how is that combined when the two are put together? If there is a link for this info, I'd be happy to read that as well.

    I would combine them by saving each completed imovie (without chapter markers) as a full quality QuickTime movie.
    Then start a completely new imovie project and import each of those in to make make one large imovie. (But remember, your DVD will only hold about 120 minutes of footage and that doesn't count the themes).
    That's when I would add the chapter markers.
    BTW-it's going to take up a lot of disk space to save the movie s and to burn the DVD.

  • Centro Hotsync problem: two Date Books, second never finishes syncing

    I have a Centro. It worked fine syncing for many months using the USB cable. For some reason, now it won't synchronize. All the information in Palm Desktop on my computer disappeared -- I only have my calendar on the phone now. When I try to sync, the HotSync Progress box appears on my computer, and if I show the details, it gives me the following, where there are two Date Books and the second one never completes:
    Package Installer -- done
    Install -- done
    Install Service Templates -- done
    Install To Card -- done
    HotSync Exchange -- done
    Date Book -- done
    Date Book -- synchronizing
    Address Book
    Address Book
    To Do List
    To Do List
    Memo Pad
    Memo Pad

    As you can see, several items from Date Book on are doubled, and the second Date Book gets stuck in perpetual synchronizing.
    I haven't found any answer for this in searching the forums. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Palm Desktop. I followed advice on Palm's troubleshooting page to rename my username on Palm Desktop and to delete my username from the phone. None of it made any difference.

    check the hotsync log for the 2nd user (2nd centro that froze).
    try see if you can find any significant error message or codes.
    also try to attempt syncing the 2nd centro and this time change the action of the datebook/calendar to handheld overwrites the desktop.
    that if your desktop is good to be overwritten.
    it is very unusual to behave this way where both of the centros have 2 different user ID's and both are syncing to palm desktop.

    I need to know how to combine 2 complete vi's.  Basically right now, I have Labview drivers for an oscilliscope and a lock-in-amplfier.  I want to be able to open just a single .vi and be able to use both of these instruments.  I think I've seen somewhere, that you can have like tabs at the top of the labview application and simply click back and forth between the two.  Please let me know if this can be done.  Thanks.

    just add an tab control, add 2 subpanels an configure your blockpanel. See example. or find an example in the example finder about subpanels. You can customize the look, by removing the scrollbars and or frames of the subpanels.

  • How to combine two datarows (business component data) in BI Publisher

    Hi ,
    We are using BI Publisher in Siebel Environment.
    We have data coming from two business components (like from 2 diff tables)
    a) <?for-each:ssTest1?>
    b) <?for-each:ssTest2?>
    ssTest1 and ssTest2 are the business components
    We need to combine these 2 datarows (a&b) and show the data into a single combined data row for ex like <?for-each:ssTest1ssTest2?> and show all the fields in that.
    I'm not sure how we can combine these two data rows into a single combined data row and show the data.
    Any help from any one would be apprecated.

    According to your description, you want to create a calculated member to combine two members, and then set it as Default member, right?
    In SQL Server Analysis Services, we can use the script below to create a calculated members.

    Its working now. We just kept trying to reinstall the tools and restarting indesign. On the 4th time the buttons started working. I can't explain why it finally worked, just that it is working now.

    Hi All,    We have recently migraded from 4.6 C to ECC 6.0. Previously we were using WS2000081 for leave workflow and now wee are using WS12300011 for same.    New workflow works but I'm not able to read as it does not contain the container elements
